Belros Silverkin |

Having to be shaken roughly awake , after not sleeping well from the excitement the day before, Belros stumbles silently in the back, bow in hand as the party enters the ruins.

Morrigan Winters |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

Morrigan moves up closer to the eastern stairs, whispering a short poem she made up on the fly to herself as she goes.
"When shadows fall
On this monastery's hall,
Even wide spaces can feel crampy.
A perfect ambush for a pugwampi."
Morrigan is going full emo. Also not many words rhyme with pugwampi...

Boramyr Cliffstalker |

Boramyr waits for the scout to check the stairs and the top before he moves up to look into the darkness of the area above the top of the stairs.
I think we are just waiting on our rogue right now. :)

Bahram the rogue |

this inability post as work is really slowing things down for me. especially when I have to work double shifts. I see that most have advanced already. I can scout things again.
was about to post the search of the hallway, but most seem to want me to scout the open area instead. so have to re-write the post
stealth: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (3) + 10 = 13
perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21
Baram moves to check the stairs, of course whatever is there can be seen by anyone at the bottom of the stairs, so not sure what he will find.

The Chapel
A short set of wide ceremonial steps leads down to a cavernous chapel in which the congregants would gather for sermons in happier times. The vibrant orange and red starburst of Sarenrae still stands behind a film of rusted rainwater and dirt along the north wall overlooking the collapsed altar. Between the stairs and the altar stand dozens of old marble benches, many overturned and even more broken into two or more pieces. A wide walkway bisects the pews, leading directly to the raised altar. Here and there a few clumps of the original red carpet along this thoroughfare hang on against rot and neglect.
Above the center of the chapel, dangling about ten feet from the floor, hangs a cluster of gnoll skulls in various stages of decay. Strung together like a ghoulish candelabra of twine and bone, the boulder-sized ornament hangs from the wooden rafters about twenty feet above the ground.
Bahram notices that the ceiling rafters in the southeast portion of the chapel upper works have been papered over like a wasp’s nest in an interwoven mish-mash of soiled tapestries, tablecloths, altar runners, and other bits of salvaged cloth, creating a sort of hanging “tent” in the rafters above. He notes movement on the fabric, as if by the passage of tiny feet over the hanging cloth from above.

Morrigan Winters |

"Someone should pierce that nest and see what comes out." Morrigan declares, pointing at the cloth mesh in the corner. "If there are no volunteers, I have no problem doing it."
Morrigan hefts her crossbow off her back and knocks back a bolt.

Boramyr Cliffstalker |

If we burn it, we risk setting the building on fire. We were paid to clear it, not burn it.
Boramyr also pulls his crossbow off his back and nocks a bolt.

Noonan2 |

Noonan mutters Please, no bees

![]() |

Kat looks up at the strange next like structure and then at the holy symbol on the altar.
We should clean this place of the Dawnflower. She is good. She fights gnolls.
I think shoot the net. If a swarm, have fire ready.

Boramyr Cliffstalker |

Noonan, try this instead of a torch. It will work a little better
Boramyr pulls his flask of acid out and offers it to Noonan.
If not needed, I would like it back.

Morrigan Winters |

"Alright. Let's do this then."
Morrigan lets loose her bolt at the cloth nest.
I'm not sure if it requires an attack roll or not. If so, I'll do one."
Light Crossbow: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8 Damage: 1d10 ⇒ 7

Boramyr Cliffstalker |

NP. I just wish this game modeled crossbows better. I got a crossbow that will put a bolt through an eighth of an inch of steel at 50'. sure doesn't seem that way in game though. :)

Anaara Sand |

I find it works better - saves having to spend the better part of a day waiting for everyone to roll.

This is Belros' wife - he's out of town and asked me to post his initiative to keep things moving since I can do it more easily than he can. I'll post as needed to keep the action moving as well.

damn..
Bahram curses under his breath. disturbing this nest was not the best idea, but there is comfort in knowing it wasn't his dumb idea for a change.
He draws his rapier to ready for a fight.

Round 1
Pugwampis
The knotted rope suspending the gnoll-skull candelabra jerks and jumps as a runty little creature dressed in crude furs scrambles from far above to gain a foothold on the swaying skulls. With a squeaky laugh, this gremlin casts a rude gesture in the your direction, at which point five arrows streak at you.

Move 20' forward.
Standard: Cast Bless (should effect everyone)

Morrigan Winters |

Can we see the pugwampis? They aren't on the map so I wasn't sure. I'm going to assume I can see at least one.
Also, theoretically, if the pugwampis are in the rafters and the rafters are already 20 feet off the ground, if we keep our distance, are we able to keep out of the pugwampi's aura? Morrigan doesn't know the radius of the aura but she's assuming if she stay's far enough away, it might help.
Morrigan targets the nearest pugwampi to her.
"Vile rat, know fear as even your own shadow is untrustworthy. Binding Darkness!
Ranged Touch: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 1 = 19
Ranged Touch: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 1 = 16
The shadows around the pugwampi come to life and begin to bind and constrict it.
Morrigan casts Binding Darkness.
You cast a weave of shadows at any foe within 30 feet as a ranged touch attack. The shadows entangle your foe for 1 round. A creature entangled by your shadows has concealment from those without darkvision or the ability to see in darkness, and other creatures likewise have concealment relative to it.
Uses remaining 6/7.
Morrigan then steps out of the way to try to avoid being targeted by arrows.

Anaara Sand |

Following Morrigan's lead, Anaara moves to take cover behind the edge of the low wall, eyes flashing as she chants sonorously in Kelish.
Evil eye hex - let's target attacks to start. -2 to attacks for seven rounds, Will DC 14 reduces to one round.

Boramyr Cliffstalker |

A bit annoyed at the large amount of arrows that came at him. Boramyr shoots back at the one in the open.

Round 1
Morrigan manages to get the pugwampi that you all see enveloped in darkness.
Katenui casts bless
Noonan drops his torch and moves to Boramyr, while drawing his bow.
Bahram throws his dagger at the enveloped pugwampi.

Anaara cannot see the enveloped pugwampi. She looks around at the rafters and spots another (which has partial concealment) and casts an evil eye upon the pugwampi.
Target acquisition: 1d5 ⇒ 4
Will save DC 14, -2 to attacks: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
Belros fires at the enveloped pugwampi. Miss chance: 1d100 ⇒ 5
Unfortunately, because of the darkness, he misses.
Boramyr fires his crossbow at one of the creatures, but misses.
Round 2
There is one pugwampi enveloped in darkness (50% miss chance) and five pugwampis in partial concealment (20% miss chance)
Pugwampis

Weaken then all and we will be in less danger. Anaara looks about for another pugwampi in sight, and sets her glare on it.
Evil eye, attacks again on the next pugwampi in sight. 7 rounds, Will DC14 reduces to one.

Morrigan Winters |

Did the pugwampi in darkness do anything of note? Anyone with darkvision can see it just fine.
As the shadows drop from the pugwampi Morrigan previously targeted, Morrigan takes a shot at it with her crossbow.
"Die pugwampi! Your death shall be an example to all!"
Her move action is to reload the crossbow, then she fires.
Is she out of the pugwampis' auras where she currently is?
