When the group arrives at the thorns, Kat shakes her head.
I can move past, but not accurate. Might end in briars.
She can use the Astral Caravan ability, but I think it shunts you 1d6x100 feet, which in this small space would simply put us back outside of the thorns.
Can you get through? How far?

Boramyr Cliffstalker |

The only way that I can think of is to wade in.
Boramyr then promptly starts to wade in, accepting the thorns, and pushing through.

![]() |

Shrugging, Kat grips her shield and moves into the briars, trying to avoid getting caught, unlike the dwarven tank in front of her.
Do we need Acrobatics rolls? Or something else?

![]() |

Acrobatics: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 1 = 20
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 1 = 18
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 1 = 17
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 1 = 11
I assume that the first try gets caught on thorns, but 2-4 make it through.

Anaara Sand |

Anaara eyes the high bushes warily. I do not estimate my chances of making it through these bushes highly; I fear I may not be up to the task. But I will make the attempt. As the good dwarf said, I mislike that the goat is bound and offered to us; there may be trouble, and I would be there to offer aid.
The woman stands nervously at the edge of the brush, as if working up her nerve. Kevi stands next to her, preparing to climb and burrow through the thorns, but Anaara bends over and scoops up the fox in her arms. I'll not have you getting torn to bits for me, baby, she says softly, nuzzling into the fox's neck and shielding the small animal with her arms.
Acrobatics x4: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 61d20 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 1 = 151d20 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 61d20 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
Ooh, ouch...

Belros Silverkin |

Hearing the voices of his friends Belros stands and turns to the group OVER HERE SHE HAS FALLEN WE NEED ROPE AND SOME HEALING NOW!!!! He frantically motions down toward Morrigan. He calls down to Morrigan. The group is here we'll get you out. I'm going to try and attempt the plan again He turns his attention back to Rombard, and attempts another CMB attempt
CMB to Grapple: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22
GOT HIM he exclaims Someone help me tie him with his rope. NOT TOO TIGHT we just need him subdued to bring him back
Finally a decent roll :D

Morrigan Winters |

Morrigan hears Belros and her face turns red.
"Great..." Morrigan mumbles under her breath.
"I couldn't even rescue a tethered goat and now the entire party has had to come to pull me out of a ditch while I look like a freaking porcupine. This is beyond embarrassing. I could just die..."
Bluff to hide that she might be crying a little: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (15) + 0 = 15
Morrigan curls up into a ball and waits for someone to throw down a rope.

TechnoDM |

1d20 ⇒ 1
1d20 ⇒ 121d20 ⇒ 12
1d20 ⇒ 12
1d20 ⇒ 13
Round A
Boramyr decides to not even attempt to avoid the spikes. He will receive 1 point of damage.
Katenui seemingly avoids a spike, but at the last moment, one snags her in the thigh. 1 point of damage.
Anaara almost avoids a spike, but still takes one point of damage.
Belros needs to give me a second CMB check
Boramyr, Katenui, and Anaara get one third of the way through.
Round B
Boramyr receives another point of damage.
Katenui manages to avoid any damage.
Anaara manages to get hit in the face for one point of damage.
All three get another third of the way through.
Round C
I need two more Acrobatics check from Anaara. If either one is less than 15, she will take another point of damage.
Boramyr received another point of damage.
Katenui receives her second point of damage.
All three arrive on the cliff face.

Looking down at the fall that Morrigan took, Kat sucks in a sudden breath and looks to the others. Suddenly seeing that Belros (hopefully), has managed to get ahold of the goat, she removes her backpack and begins to pull out 50' of silk rope that she keeps tied to the pack.
She then looks to the others.
If I go down. I can get Morrigan to camp. Or, I can take the goat. I can only take one with magic.
As she is saying this, she carefully ties the end of the rope to the cactus that the goat is tied to, and then tosses the end down into the chasm.

Boramyr Cliffstalker |

Hold off on where you're tying that rope, I think we can help her up without you going down.
Belros, can you help me hold this rope, and we can let her climb up to us

Anaara Sand |

Acrobatics: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 1 = 16
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
Anaara struggles and forces her way through the last of the briar, hoping to reach the others. As she pushes through to break free, she receives one more long scratch. At three damage.
She looks at the others, scrapes and cuts covering her and twigs and leaves caught up in her thick dreadlocks. Well, we made it. Kevi chirrups from her cocoon within Anaara's arms.

Morrigan Winters |

Morrigan takes the rope that's dropped down and ties it around her waist. She then waits for someone to help pull her up.
She'll assist with Climb rolls but at least she won't fall back down with a rope tied to her.
Climb: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 1 = 14
Climb: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
She does not climb very well.

TechnoDM |

Since climbing a knotted rope is a DC 5, Morrigan successfully gets to the top of the cliff once more.
Still waiting on Belros' second CMB Grapple.
Oh, BTW, since Belros doesn't have improved grapple, the goat will attempt to butt him.
Butt and damage: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 161d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Butt and damage: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 31d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
... and misses him completely.

Seeing the serious punctures and scratches caused by the thorns and the cactus, Kat reaches up her hand and calls to the heavens above. A moment later a ray of bright sunshine from the nearly set globe of fire suddenly races to her hand. She then reaches down and touches Morrigan with the brilliant light. The sunshine leaps from her hand and begins to glow about Morrigan, causing her to momentarily glow like a torch. Then the divine light gathers about the wounds in the half-orc's body where it sinks into the wounds, causing them to pull back together, mending and healing like a flower blossoms with the first rays of the morning sun.
Cast CLW on Morrigan: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4 <-- and with all that description, I only get 4 hp healed.

Morrigan Winters |

Morrigan stands up and does her best to compose herself. "Thanks."
She frowns at how battered her robe and cloak look.
"Be careful around Rombard. He's scared and is lashing out in fear."

![]() |

Kat looks over at the struggling goat.
I don't know goats. I can carry him to camp quickly. But, you all will have to walk.
Planning on using Astral Caravan. It has an arrival error percentage, but I assume there was an open space near the camp that she could target.

Boramyr Cliffstalker |

Boramyr recoils the rope and returns it to Katenui.
I am sure Morrigan thanks you for the use of it.
He grins at her, and then looks over at Belros and his arguement with the goat.

![]() |

Kat moves over to help Belros maintain his grip on the struggling goat.
Grapple(Aid Another): 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 1 = 17 vs DC10
--> Successful, so +2 for Belros' grapple (if the timing is not too far off)

Anaara Sand |

As Anaara sees Belros and Katenui struggling with the goat, she closes her eyes and mutters a low chant. As she intones the final word of her chant, her eyes shoot open, and onlookers can see a flash of strange light as she glares straight at the struggling Rombard.
Evil Eye hex for -2 to ability checks, which I believe covers CMD? Will save DC15 to reduce to one round, otherwise seven rounds.

Boramyr Cliffstalker |

Just knock the poor beastie out, and then take him from there.
Boramyr looks at the heavy metal chain around his chest, and then the various other items the group is carrying.
He sighs, and unlimbers the chain as he walks towards the struggling people and goat.

TechnoDM |

Belros seems to get a grip on the goat, but at the last minute it wiggles out of his grasp. It runs around him and he has to "dance" to avoid getting tripped up by the rope.
Belros needs to make two acrobatics checks (DC 15) to avoid falling off the cliff.
Rombard Will save: 1d20 ⇒ 2
Rombard Will save: 1d20 ⇒ 10
Rombard is minus two on ability checks.
Please note: Every check, save, attack must be rolled twice. Take the worse one.
Actions (in no particular order):
Boramyr
Katenui
Anaara
Belros
Morrigan
Noonan
Bahram
But, please also give me initiative rolls (two each -- take the worse one)

Anaara Sand |

Seeing Belros having difficulty with the goat dancing about his feet, Anaara reaches out for his hand to attempt to steady him.
Can I make some sort of roll to give Belros a bonus on the check?

Belros Silverkin |

As Rombard escapes Belros's Grasp he attempts to save himself from falling off the cliff. WHOA!! He exclaims. Reaching out to for the offered hand
Accrobatics: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 111d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24
Initiative: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 151d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21

Belros Silverkin |

As Belros falls he try's to catch Morrigan's eye giving a look of "It happens to the best of us" falling you hear him call out. OH for the love of Erastil. He lands hard feeling the pain and immediately sympathizes with Morrigan. From the bottom of the cliff you hear Belros feebily call back up. I'm Okay attempting to sound as if nothing is wrong but clearly he's hurt
Down to two hit points. Oh the thoughts of a character can sometimes out think the thoughts of the player

Morrigan Winters |

"Belros!" Morrigan's eyes widen as she sees him fall in the same manner that she did. She drops to her hands and knees at the cliffs edge and curses that she was unable to help him.
"Something is very wrong here. We are having way more bad luck in this situation than we should be. Either this place is cursed or something else is going on here. We need to get out of here as soon as possible."
I really wish I had handle animal.
Morrigan turns back to the goat. "I didn't want to have to use magic on you, but enough is enough. Let darkness cloud your mind. Daze!"
Daze Will DC 14

![]() |

Hoping to help calm the goat, Kat moves over close to it and squats down.
She begins to speak in what she things is a calm soft voice, while creating water (using Create Water) in her hands for the scared goat to be able to drink.
Handle Animal: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12
Handle Animal: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22

Boramyr Cliffstalker |

Boramyr pulls his pack off, and digs out a rope, and throws half of it down to Belros.
Here is something to ease your climb
He then acts as a brace for him to climb up using the rope.

Anaara Sand |

Oh, sorry mate, I thought helping Belros had been my action.
Anaara looks over the edge at Belros recovering from his fall. I begin to agree with you, Ms. Morrigan. There is something strange at work here. She begins to scan the surrounding landscape for any signs of unusual activity. Kevi, do you see anything? The fox jumps into Anaara's outstretched arms and sits upright, taking in the view.
Anaara - Perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17
Anaara - Perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14
Kevi - Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12
Kevi - Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25

TechnoDM |

Morrigan dazes Rombard, and Katenui is able to calm it down enough for the goat to shiver against her.
No one sees the creature as it darts out from its hiding place and attacks Katenui (who is with Rombard)
Pugwampi attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12
Even with her total attention directed toward Rombard, the pugwampi's surprise attack is futile.
=== Round 1 ===
Belros
The pugwampi
Noonan
Anaara
Katenui
Morrrigan
Rombard
Boramyr
Bahram

![]() |

Kat sees, and obviously feels, the hideous creature and its attack, which was fortunately deflected by her armor. Knowing the bad luck that the group has been having, she steps back and calls on the power of the sun to aid the party. As she raises her hand, it is enveloped in a bright light, like a tiny piece of sunlight, which expands out to make the whole clearing slightly brighter, and the pugwampi easier to see.
5-foot step past the goat
Cast Bless (+1 Morale Bonus to attacks)

Anaara Sand |

Seeing the foul creature attack Katenui, Anaara immediately begins an incantation. You shall not harm these, my new companions, she intones with eyes closed, then opens her eyes and focuses a steely stare at the monster, motes of fiery light dancing in her eyes.
Evil eye hex, -2 to attacks for 7 rounds, Will save DC14 reduces to one round.
