Meliora Castafiore |
"Well, that's why I'm a genius." She tries to sound dismissive.
She also totally fails at selling it, since her face totally gives away how very pleased she is at the moment.
"I think I'm about ready to have myself a good sleep. Have a good night guys. We'll be putting the name 'Silver Ravens' back on the map tomorrow."
Micheria "Mic' Musca |
Mic smiles and shakes her head a little at Meliora's comments about being a genius. "Genius you may be but if it comes to violence some of us are smart enough to wear some armor." she grins at her own comment.
"So we sleep and then see what we find? Sounds good to me."
Meliora Castafiore |
I think I'm ready to head to the salt works. Were we going to find some guards to ambush first?
Jesper Roland Sørensen |
Sorry for the delay. I got a call thursday asking if I wanted to I could start a new job today, and suddenly the weekend got a lot more busy than I had planned.
The next morning as you all slowly get out of bed and you have eaten some of Laria's freshly baked pasties the trip goes to the salt work. It's a rather quite morning except for the useal chitchatter between storekeepers opening their stores. As you get closer to the Saltmine you can't seem to see any guards on outside of the building.
Jack Duncloak |
"So...what's the plan AFTER we take out the dwarf and his cronies? Just sneak out the back door and stroll back to Laria's place?"
Meliora Castafiore |
"Either that, or we scatter and meet up again later. Both work."
Micheria "Mic' Musca |
"Lets hang back for a minute. I would do us little good to get in there and then have the guards show up. Maybe give it a little time."
Preception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18 Looking for anything that would speak to wear the guards are.
Jesper Roland Sørensen |
Micheria can't see anything either the guards are gone or they are all performing their duty inside.
Jesper Roland Sørensen |
I've placed you all on the map near the front entrance. Mostly to let you know which is the front you'll see from the street.
Micheria "Mic' Musca |
"No sense standing around here. We can go here or try around back.
Might make more sense to head around back."
She moves up and listens at the door planning to move around back unless someone disagrees.
Perecption: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
Jesper Roland Sørensen |
Micheria can faintly hear the sound of mining coming from inside the buildings, you are not certain exactly where it originates from.
Meliora Castafiore |
"The back seems like the best bet... there may be guards stationed there, but we can deal with that no problem."
Micheria "Mic' Musca |
"Agreed. Always sneaker to use the back door."
Before she can think to much about her phrasing she ducks around the side of the building trying to act like it is right where she is meant to be at the moment.
Jack Duncloak |
Jack follows in Mic's wake, trying to sneak in an unobtrusive manner (taking 10--16 total). When the group gathers by the back door, Jack tries the door to see if it's open or locked.

Disable Device: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
Disable Device: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24
Sheesh.... Now I look at the map and see that the back door may be inside some sort of fence. I can't win.
Jesper Roland Sørensen |
Kinda right Jack, it's D6. Work Yard: The work yard is a covered patio for meeting with customers and readying larger loads for delivery.
Meliora Castafiore |
Meliora follows along as well. If action happens, she wants to be near the fighters.
Jesper Roland Sørensen |
[ooc]Their is no mentioning of a gate in the book, but it doesn't make sense based on the describtion of the area so one of Jack's attempts have opened it."[/b]
Canacha Bais |
She followed along as quiet as she could pistol held in one hand but pointed up high torwards the sky. This was exciting... and nervewracking. She kept nervously reaching to the vial on her belt with her shielding extracts... readying herself to down it the moment action kicked off.
Canacha Bais |
She had to bite back a giggle. She might move the most silently sure... but she glanced to her gun then to the corner.
stealth: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24
She crept up along the wall keeping her eyes moving like a ghost until she reached the first doorway on the left. She let her eyes run along her and carefully put her ear to the door straining to hear any noise.
perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11
Assumind she doesnt hear or see anything she would test the door, and if its locked pick it.
disable device: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 8 = 22
Jesper Roland Sørensen |
Canacha gets skillfully over to the door without making a sound, see listens at the door and think she can hear the faint sound of snoribg on the other side of the door. This might be the night watchmen she concludes.
Jack Duncloak |
Jack quietly moves to Canacha's side as the gunslinger goes to work on the door's lock.
"Show off!" he mouths silently at her when he catches her eye.
Canacha Bais |
"Yeah? I should probably stop... i think its the guards barracks and they are sleeping."
She whispered very quietly to the man. She wondered if jamming the lock with a pick would make the door harder to impossible to open. She frowned and tried to think that through and do the math on it.
Meliora Castafiore |
With a cast of Message, Meliora points to Canacha and whispers to her.
"Pick it, and then take out the guards while they can't fight back. Saves us trouble later!" She's advocating for being mercilessly efficient, as usual.
Meliora Castafiore |
"They're going to just break the door down when they wake up... and when we start fighting, they hear us, they wake up, and then they're armed men coming in on our flank. With me bringing up the rear. This is just saving a step, and my rear to boot..."
A sigh, and then pointing at Canacha again.
"Okay, go on with trying to jam the door instead, I guess."
Micheria "Mic' Musca |
Mic shakes her head thinking it is not the time for a discussion still she whispers to the others.
"There is no doubt they are in the employ of our enemies but leaving a trail of bodies will not help our cause. Can you simply break the lock so it will not open form either side? That could give us warning if they wake."
This is probably a mistake. Better to kill them for our saftey but it might bring the wrong attention on us.
Jesper Roland Sørensen |
1-50 inwards/51-100 outwards: 1d100 ⇒ 52
It's a one round action with a dc 10 to jam a lock
Jesper Roland Sørensen |
I think that would require you to have delay bomb otherwise it would become inert when you leave it behind. "Bombs are unstable, and if not used in the round they are created, they degrade and become inert".
Lena Silas |
Lena looks quite relieved when the plan to kill unarmed men in their beds is not realized. Thank Milani. I'm good with fighting for freedom, but not for outright murder.
She moves forward and waits to see what the other's discover at the other doorway.
Micheria "Mic' Musca |
"Good lets check what else we can. Leaving them sleep is for the best. "
She moves in with the others, listening at the door to the larger building.
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11
Jack Duncloak |
Jack moves up to the door and takes a quick listen once Mic's done.
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20 (+2 vs. humans, if applicable)
Canacha Bais |
She tilted her head and glanced at the way the door opened and then grinned taking out a dagger and using it careful to wedge under the door like a doorstop. Between that and the jammed lock it would take the people inside more than a moment to get out... heck it might even save them from taking a bullet from her pistol...if they were lucky.
That done she turned to see her friends standing outside the other door. She stood there head cocked for a moment watching them watch the door in confusion. With a shrug she slid forward picks in hand to attempt to open that door...
disable device: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13
Jesper Roland Sørensen |
The door unlocks under Canacha's steady hand. Once inside you can see the backroom with a few barrels and an opening at the end leading towards the front of the building from where you are standing.
Micheria "Mic' Musca |
Mic moves into the room as well listening intently as she moves to let others in behind her.
Perecption: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14
Meliora Castafiore |
Meliora follows along after them, as well, keeping her ears and eyes open alongside the others.
Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (18) + 9 = 27
Jesper Roland Sørensen |
As you all begin to sneak in a guard rounds the corner and starts screaming "INTRUDERS!"

Initiative Lena: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 1 = 19

Round 1: Bold may act.
Canacha, Jack, Lena, Meliora, Micheria
Dwarf, Thug red,
Trying something new and letting you all act before the me to see if it smoothes things more in PBP.
Jack Duncloak |
The hood of his cloak still hiding some of his face, Jack enters the salt works and quickly moves to engage a CCH loyalist, drawing his longsword en route.
"'Intruders?' Nay! We are liberators!"
Double move, free action, and done!
Canacha Bais |
At the sound of the voice, she hurried forward to join the others, but she was loathe to entirely ignore the probably barracks door. Pistol drawn She held it forward but purposely glanced back torwards the door.
Move action to get in the doorway, Standard action ready to fire if A.) the red fellow moves to engage Lena or Meliora, or B.) Guys come streaming out of the barracks
readied attack: 1d20 + 7 - 2 ⇒ (5) + 7 - 2 = 10
damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
Meliora Castafiore |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
Meliora pulls out a scroll of mage armor, and casts it to give herself a delicious delicious +4 armor bonus to AC.
"Liberators who are smart enough to just make armor with their mind in case of violence!"
Hah. In your face, Mic.
...I will not disclose how much of Meliora's night was devoted to thinking about how to make this snappy comeback.
