Male Human Fighter 3

Could we, by chance, get a setting? It'd make things easier to fall into.

Oh sure. "Randal's Home for Children" is a small orphanage near the coast of Taldor. It's run by THIS GUY!

hello

Male Human Fighter 3

Well that's all well and good, especially the facial hair, but, aside from being in the orphanage are we all anywhere in particular?

male human lvl 2 (varient multi-class rogue)

I think it was mentioned that we are on the Taldorian Coast.

Even as a 12 year old, Lelouch is a popular kid, so people are either already friends with him, or would like to be, and those living here from an early age will know he's been here from the age of 10. :)

What he looks like and what you know about him can be found in his profile.

A dark haired boy sits in the cafeteria chatting to a group of people around similar ages to one another. He's seemingly the centre of attention, but acts shy around girls and with compliments, though seemingly always having things to say, and coming across as polite in the process (as always).

Male Human Fighter 3

Good enough for me, I'll bite. I'm going to assume I'm 16 in this case, getting ready to go out on my own finally. Orphanages can't hold onto you when you become an adult, anyway.

In the upper floors of the orphanage, Damien couldn't help but be troubled. He felt uneasy, for whatever reason as of his recent dreams. To calm himself, he stood at the window of the structure, inside, away from most of the kids and teens that berated him.
He was looking out to the shore, the coast, or atleast, in the direction of the coast. It seemed to calm him.
He was in a room that one of the adults usually used for whatever reason, but, it simply contained a chair, a desk, and the window he was looking out of. It also had a door, which he'd shut behind him hoping no one would come in.

He was in the chair, melancholy, looking outside of the window.

To his surprise, the door opened.

Looks like we actually managed to split up the "Discussion" into 2 separate sequences. I'm cool with this.

male human lvl 2 (varient multi-class rogue)

Othan was preparing to leave what had been his home for as long as he could remember. Randal had been kind to him, but these last few years had been hard, particularly since he started speaking in some language Randal had never heard before. Everyone kept their distance from him since that day not understanding him, he didn't understand it himself. The others kept passing, wispering, rarely speaking to him. It was time to leave, perhaps there was someone out there who could help him, understand himself.

Male Aasimar (muse-touched) Bard (Lotus Geisha) 8

@Damien Befira - Damien, Come on downstairs the meals about to start. Why ya lookin' so grimm kid?

Male Human Fighter 3

Oh I'm just suddenly getting visions of drop-dead-gorgeous women coming out of skeleton pools filled with human blood. You?

Damien turns away from the window, startled, thinking one of the kids had found him. He was refreshed to see it was Randal, and sighed in relief. As for his reasons for looking so grim, he couldn't say, and simply shied away from the question.
He took a moment to look out of the window again.

"If I go downstairs I'm just going to be there. No one will talk to me unless they have some sort of hateful thing to say."

You could taste the melancholy in his voice.

Female Human Skald / 5 [HP:43 /43] / AC:17 / Saves: fort+6, reflex+3, will+4

Upstairs in her room, Phaedra finishes getting ready for the evening meal. As she dries and brushes her hair, she looks in her mirror to make sure the dye took evenly to her hair.

Perfect. A nice even brown all over. No one can tease me for having pink hair now.

Smiling, happy with the results and her new, more human, look, Phaedra heads downstairs to the dining hall.

I hope I'm not late for the meal, this dying took a bit longer than I thought it would, but it was so worth it.

also I believe you used the wrong alias :).

Male Human Fighter 3

Thanks for the heads up
He heaves a heavy sigh of disappointment, but gets up and gets ready to head down stairs, looking for his chalk which he usually carried on him. He finds it, of course, on his person, and then starts to walk down the stairs to the mess hall.

One of the downsides to red hair is that you stand out, which is a shame, because that's the last thing that Damien wants to do in any situation. Unfortunately, he's good at it.

Damien coming down the stairs is easy to see by anyone, as he's one of the only red heads in the orphanage. Oh, and he's 6'6, which doesn't help.

As he starts down the staircase, he walks down shortly in front of Phaedra, whom he assumes also dislikes him, so he sort of tilts his head down.

Anyone in what I assume is a mess hall/cafeteria can see me coming. Horrible high school memories! Activate!

Human (Chelaxian) Paladin/3

Remus, alone in his room, continues to stare at his one prized possession. The mysterious sword that was his one hint to his unknown history. He looks at it for a few minutes before hiding it once again. He straightens his unkempt hair and leaves his room, knowing that it is now close to dinner time.

He comes down the stairs and nearly bumps into Phaedra and Damien. He blushes slightly at seeing Phaedra. He nods to both of them "Hello to the both of you..."

Female Human Skald / 5 [HP:43 /43] / AC:17 / Saves: fort+6, reflex+3, will+4

Phaedra follows the tall red-head at a bit of a distance, she's always worried about the tall ones not watching where they're going and stepping on her. This fear is only confirmed when another human boy almost steps on her as he is coming out his room.

"Uhm, hello Damien. You going to dinner too?"

Oh geez, that's a stupid question. Of course he's going to dinner. Everyone is going to dinner now. *sigh* Why is it so hard not to sound stupid?

Male Human Fighter 3

As he descended the stairs he was bumped into by Remus, another boy. He wasn't big on pleasantries in his young age, so, he didn't exactly say anything. He was blushing for some reason, but he couldn't put 2 and 2 together on that, so he simply looked at him startled for a moment and kept going down the stairs.

Human (Chelaxian) Paladin/3

Remus sighs to himself softly as he continues down the stairs. Everyone is always so sad and lonely around here he muses to himself.

He finally makes it down to the dinner table and takes his usual spot. Out of the way as he's quite shy of his bulk hurting anyone.

I wonder what is for supper tonight...

Male Human Fighter 3

Same thing they have every night, Remus. "Sadness soup", and "You're parents are dead porridge."

well then. Remus, Damien, Phaedra, and Tama sit at a table in the corner. Lelouch, Othan, Judeau, and seth sit at another more popular table with a few of the other orphans. Dinner is in fact a simple chicken broth and warm oven fresh bread.
way to be a pessimist Damien

Male Human Fighter 3

I just had the idea to have those as thoughts for the rest of the campaign.

As he takes his seat, he realizes that he's kind of lucked out as far as being a little bit social goes. The half-orc girl, Tama, is in the chair next to him. On the other side is Phaedra and Remus.
Still famously anti-social, however, Damien silently eats his food and tries not to make eye-contact, save for the occasional glance he tosses Tama

Female Human Skald / 5 [HP:43 /43] / AC:17 / Saves: fort+6, reflex+3, will+4

Phaedra slowly eats her dinner and occasionally glances down at the strands of now brown hair trailing over shoulders.

Well, so far so good. Dinner is at least ok tonight and no one has teased me about my hair yet. If I could just grow a little bit taller I would be just like any other girl here. Well, almost any other girl here. Tama doesn't really fit the definition of normal any more than I do.

Speaking rather quietly, Phaedra shyly addresses a question to the other girl at the table. "Tama, I was wondering if I get another opinion on my hair? The mirrors are rather small in the rooms and I was wondering if the color looks ok?"

Male Human Fighter 3

Wait a minute. I just realized. I am TOWERING over Phaedra. So is Remus, and so is the Half orc lady, I would assume. Which begs the question of just how small those mirrors are.

Damien listens attentively, curious about Tama's tastes in, well, looking good at all. He didn't take half-orcs for the beautiful types, but he was just going on stereotypes he'd heard from the adults in his younger years.

Unfortunately I don't have this campaign fleshed out enough to know the dimensions of the mirrors.

Male Human Fighter 3

It was more of a funny observation, than anything.

male human lvl 2 (varient multi-class rogue)

Othan wonders why he is at the popular table or even if there is a popular table. He then returns to his soup and bread and decides perhaps he can wait a few more days before leaving.

Female Human Skald / 5 [HP:43 /43] / AC:17 / Saves: fort+6, reflex+3, will+4

I guess we could also assume that the mirrors are just place too high up on the walls for little Phaedra to actually get a good look at herself. :)

Male Human Fighter 3

So how many are we up to with this? Like... 9?

Noticing Othan, Judeau and Seth sitting at the table, Lelouch looks in their direction with a welcoming smile, to at least acknowledge their presence.

Some of the kids can be seen teasing one another, pulling funny faces behind one anothers back and tapping each other, only to act innocent, claiming they didn't do anything. It's all in good nature though.

After he smiles at the group closest to him, Lelouch turns back to continue on with the conversation he was having with the more popular kids, laughing alongside them, amused by their playful nature.

Surrounded by a few guys, possibly close friends, but mostly girls, it seems that Lelouch is the most popular kid here, even if he often day dreams and is off in his own world a lot of the time.

Not everyone likes a popular kid, no matter how friendly or well mannered they are. Jealousy and envy are two very possible feelings that could be felt towards him by a small minority.

Damien Befira wrote:

9 players.

Human (Chelaxian) Paladin/3

Remus smiles at his fresh baked bread, it was one of his favorite things to eat at the orphanage. He began dipping the bread into his broth and before long his food was gone. He listens to Phaedra's comment about her hair and before thinking he blurts out "I like the normal color of your hair..." He realizes too late that he meant to say that with his inside voice.

He blushes before trying to recover, "Not to say your hair isn't nice now, of course. I just heard in the adventure stories that gnomes have green and blue and purple hair, sometimes even orange. Sometime I wish I could go on an adventure and see gnomes with all types of hair colors!" He gets rather excited at the prospect before quieting down and looking back at his empty bowl with longing.

Female Half-Orc Commoner 1

"Phaedra hair pretty." Tama can be counted upon to tell the truth as it hasn't occurred to her to say anything different. There's always a hiss of a lisp around Tama's fangs and despite being huge for a 15 year old, she hunches up and tries to look small and just looks awkward.

Seth has your Charisma beat by only a single point Lelouch, but he could care less about attention. :p

Seth sat at his table pushing food around on his plate. The handsome young lad glances around for their guardian, Mr. Gregori. When he was sure the older man wasn't watching Seth slips a piece of broth soaked bread into a cloth napkin and tucks it out of sight. He takes a long draw from the soup bowl, swallows and takes a large bite of bread. Still chewing on the bread he slips from the table with a nod to the others.
It wasn't unusual for him to be quiet and less talkative then the other children. Seth seemed to prefer the company of some of the stray animals that would wander near the orphanage. Once he was sure Mr. Gregori was preoccupied, Seth heads for the back store. He isn't trying to run away if watched, instead he quickly heads towards a storage shed attached to the back of the building.

Male Human Fighter 3

Damien had always knew that Tama meant well, but he was far too intimidated by everyone else to mention it. He also noticed that she wasn't anywhere near as anti-social as he was. Hell, she might have even made a good friend, but for the sake of her well-being he avoided talking to her, thinking that she would go through the same hell as him.

He ate his bread and drank his broth, watching as Seth at another table got up and left. He didn't really keep an eye on him though. He preferred to keep an eye on the slight drama that was appearing in front of him.

Haha, how dare he! I'll have to mind control him to act less charismatic. :p

Lelouch seems too into conversation to notice much else going on around him.

It seems just like any other day to him. Nothing out of the ordinary and people always focusing their attention towards him.

Male Human Fighter 3

Damien isn't too bad of a charismatic man either. He's just too bashful in the orphanage around friends that know the most about him.

Yea. 14's alright too. How are you guys roleplaying your Charisma btw? I have to do it in the way of a leader, acting how one would, strategising things etc. Some people like to bump up charisma just to represent looks, but ultimately I feel it's just used to show how inclined people would be to listen or not listen to you, with everything else on top being fluff. You can be as polite and good looking as anything, but if you have low charisma, maybe there's just something people don't like about you. Something they can't place their finger on. Anyway, I'm interested in seeing what will happen when we enter the gameplay section/when the campaign kicks off properly!

Female Half-Orc Commoner 1

I tend to play ChArisma as social ability. Getting people to like you and ability to interact. Tama is ugly, yes, but she's also Awkward As s~*%, thus the low charisma score.

Male Human Fighter 3

Well, Damien is certainly a good-looking person. However I feel like his charisma will come into play later when he sheds his bashfulness for semi-crazy honesty. He's too young to have gone into full martyr mode. I believe his charisma will come when he starts to dress flamboyantly and expose his body when he starts to wear a breastplate and use his scythe. I may have him have a breakthrough when the campaign begins, however.

Well you can't have a low charisma for being awkward. The way I see it you can have hideously ugly people that try to be merry makers and blissfully happy despite the fact. People just won't like them, is all.

Pretty much how I play it then. How others like and interact with you. As for your guy Damien, being a bit of a Martyr....my guy will really cloud the Neutral Good alignment. His objectives, motives and ways of dealing with things are pretty questionable and out there. All he cares about is the greater good, and anything that gets in the way of that won't remain to be an obstacle. You'll see. :p

Male Human Fighter 3

Well, Damien is most likely going to end up slicing himself a few times at night as worship and thanks to his CE Deity, Zura. He's not so much a Martyr because he's nice. He's a martyr because he likes getting stabbed.

Not right now, though, he hasn't been fully visited by Zura yet, however, that will happen with the time skip.

Then we have a power hungry tyrant and an anti-social, shy masochist in the group and that's only two of us. Awesome. :p

Human (Chelaxian) Paladin/3

Don't forget the semi-charismatic, extremly protective, future knight in shining armor :D

Male Human Fighter 3

What the hell are they teaching at this orphanage...?

1 person marked this as a favorite.
Human (Chelaxian) Paladin/3

Public Speaking! at least half of us have a charisma score 14 and over. Most beautiful batch of orphans ever, how did we not get adopted!

How to poke eyes out!

Male Human Fighter 3

Wrong Alias, Tierce.

Well the reason I didn't is probably because they kept telling the potential adopters that I was marked by a chaotic evil deity. A 14 charisma doesn't best "Marked by the demon lord of lust, hedonism, blood, succubi, and vampires.

So who in this group isn't oozing charisma of some sort?

male human lvl 2 (varient multi-class rogue)

I think basically everyone in the group has a bonus to charisma. We just all happen to be in the socially okward early teens.

Female Human Skald / 5 [HP:43 /43] / AC:17 / Saves: fort+6, reflex+3, will+4

I just figured I wasn't adopted since no gnomes wandered by looking to adopt and no humans wanted to adopt a little gnome. She also gets over looked quite a bit cause of her small size.

Phaedra blushes a little at Remus's unexpected offering of opinion.

"Thank you for saying so Tama and Remus. I just wanted to see what I'd look like if I had normal hair like other girls have."

Male Human Fighter 3

Some more than others.
