I've been checking in. Just not been able to post this weekend, due to celebrating my birthday with friends and my girlfriend....which is actually on this Tuesday coming.

I have no idea who's still playing. I'd like to and have a post to make, but there seems to be very little activity on here right now.

Not as of yet. however three casters and a masochist isn't exactly an optimized party.

This is true, but I've heard of an army of Wizards to function as a good party, so I guess it just comes down to the rolls.

If you're overly worried, you can always recruit more, but the first thing you should do is PM people. :)

I have one issue with this.

Before the campaign began, we weren't told it was a Demon Hunting campaign, and had we been, I would have submitted someone else who isn't entirely focused on taking down other humans.

I want to be honest. I don't really see this working out well, and a lot of things could have been far more descriptive, but I'll see how things go.

One of the main issues here is that it's been dead for a little while now, and most of the good roleplay happened at the start. It was really good between players in fact, but as the players have left, the roleplay has died out and I'm feeling it's almost pointless to continue right now, but I'll hold out for a bit and see how it goes. :)

Well, it just doesn't work with my character. If I had the necessary information from the start, I would have made a paladin or Ranger, but I'm just not really feeling this right now and I've thought long and hard about it.

Judeau has said to me he feels the same and as such, it would just be us two left from the original party. There's no convincing me otherwise, but like I said, I'm baring with it right now. It's just not looking hopeful.


possibly but there was no initial indication of what type of enemy we were going to fight so building a character that was only effective against sentients is somewhat your problem, the bigger issue is that the new guys will have characters built with demon killing in mind when designing them as opposed to general builds

I disagree, on the grounds that humans are the most common enemy. They were the safest bet, so the real issue here is that we didn't know what we were facing.

If it doesn't work out, I've been one of the most loyal players so I won't ne in the wrong if I do leave. We'll see how it goes over the next week or so, but there are a lot of issues here, and some are easy to see.


I agree that it is an issue that the old characters are almost being punished for sticking around and my character Othan is in the same not optimally designed for combating demons as your character

Being one of the new recruits, I can certainly sympathize with the sub-optimization of characters made without demon-hunting information. However, fwiw, I'm just bringing in a Zen Archer, which is hardly a demon-hunting pro. I just gave him some cold iron arrows & called it good.
Also, I haven't read up on the entire thread history, but I would assume that, even with a focus on hunting demons, there would be other actions/interactions throughout that would require more diverse skill sets, wouldn't there?


Quite possibly, it just annoys those of us from the initial group that the new guys are getting more information about our task than we were, therefore we are almost getting punished for sticking with the game


If it bothers you that much I will let you change your characters somewhat. I wouldn't want whole new characters but if you wanna tweak em go ahead.

Well yea. I think Othan, that all we needed really was a small paragraph of information, speaking about what the campaign would entail, such as the information given in AP player guides. You know, if you're a Ranger, Favoured Enemies you may want to focus on etc.

I can't really tweak my guy, because if I do, he just becomes a bit bland and would probably turn into a healbot, which I don't play.

I'm a Charm Cleric who supports team mates when not telling enemies to kill each other. ;)

Unfortunately though, any offensive spells are subject to Spell Resistance and Will Saves, so I just see him being highly ineffective.

As a cleric, can't you prepare any spell off of the spell list at any time? Reworking your standard spell array won't even require character edits.
But yes, I see that you have traits and feats and domains focused around it. Perhaps see how much/many of those you can change around with GM blessing.

Honestly, I just got out one of the toons that I have been wanting to play and hoped the DM would like it. If all we are doing is demon hunting Saren might be in as much trouble as the starting characters, he will be very glad for the healer though!

Gromph is tanky enough as well. He has plenty of melee in him. And I don't provoke AoOs when making bow attacks, so I'm good anywhere.

As for Treggor's entrance, unless something of consequence happens on the boat, I suppose he'll just be waiting for everyone on the other side. Like a scout.

Well it is true it could be any amount of years for I was with the elves for at least a dozen years.

I would say that we met up as new adventurers and gained our two levels together perhaps slaying a young black dragon and cleaning out the goblins who lived in the hills. We then rescued the elven community from some other threat(any ideas).

I stayed on while you moved on. Did you tell me why?

Treggor is anti-social, so I'd say they met in defense of your elf community from (a demon?), then disappeared. Recently sent a letter (just before departing across the sea) to the elves telling them to split his estate if he had not returned in a month. Maybe Saren wants to know why, maybe he came looking after the month, something?

Yup that sounds good to me! Demons, a small batch of dretches, a few babau, and one pathetic looking Hezrou but he was their leader or even better a fiendish dragon. Yup, another dragon, a fiendish one at that!

I must investigate why you would have your estate split, and in the unlikely reason you would die, I must be at your side! Before the month, as soon as the message reached the village, Saren was out on the road to track you down that night!

Saren always likes to keep busy, and he does not really care for the water, so Saren would have gotten a job from the Captain, even if he needed to pay his full fare, he would still want a job to keep his mind off of things. 1d20 ⇒ 6 -1 for his Diplomacy check to have a smaller fare or to get paid to work the ship on this journey.

How long is the journey?
