Ok everyone, we have room for one possibly two characters in this ongoing game which started in August. You would start at level 4 with 6000GP worth of items. No 1 item more than 1500GP. I'll take submissions until Friday Feb 7th and my players will decide who they are interested in.
Any race from core rulebook is ok check with me for anything else, no evil alignments please. 2 traits, 20 point buy. Any class is also ok. Check with me on archetypes
The party so far is
Lucanor, Inquisitor of Iomedae
Silas, Bard and magical lockdown specialist.
Michael, Cavalier and kobold idol
Hecktor, Scythe wielding fighter
So obviously casting classes are what is needed but submit whatever you want to play. 1/day posting is minimum but if you read the gameplay forum you will see we usually do 2-3 posts on most days.

I'm interested, but a little overwhelmed at the prospect of catching up on 41 pages of gameplay, not to speak of discussion. Would you and your players be willing to help a newcomer get up to speed, or are you only looking for people who have enough time to read through gameplay (&/or discussion) first?
I'd be interested in playing a Lawful Neutral summoner with a Chaotic Neutral eidolon that acts as sort of a repressed personality or evil twin. The eidolon's differing alignment would be strictly for flavor of course.

GM Niles |

I'm sure the guys would be more than happy to help anyone that gets chosen. Its an awesome group of players.
The gist of the campaign has been so far
1) Curing Falcon's Hollow of a plague which might or might not have been started by Urgothoan Cultists
2) Defending the town from an attack by undead
3) Rescuing five children who were kidnapped by kobolds seeking to placate some other power.
There is lots of other stuff of course but that's the main synopsis.
I have no problems with Summoners. But then I'm not choosing the new addition.

You do our own memories too much credit I think :) The DM has given the basics of it but if you read the game info and dramtis persona links it might help sum some things up.
The setting is a miserable little logging village where the Lumber Consortium keeps the average man and woman in near perpetual poverty to fill their own pockets. Their chosen man, Kreed, is not happy to see Adventurers that are NOT under his control but is wise enough to try to use them or so it seems. While a toadying and puffed up magistrate of a halfling pretends to be the power here, it is Kreed who really runs most of the town but not all. The Sheriff and a few other decent souls stand up against his thugs, but they're sorely outmatched. To make matters worse, it is hardly a two sided affair with more than one faction at play here. Some are open, others more covert, and each seems to have their own agenda and more than one of them seems less than happy to have a group of 'heroes' storming through their plans like a strong wind through a spider's web. With undead rising, kobold kings, and rumors of fay magics in the woods, it's clear that the Consortium maybe not be the greatest evil after all.
That help any? :)

![]() |

Yes that's quite helpful, thank you.
I'm almost done with my submission. I'm working on traits and inventory. I've incorporated constrict into my eidolon build, but I can take it back out if necessary. For reference, the Grab evolution allows you to do the natural attack's damage each subsequent turn you maintain the grapple, while the Constrict evolution allows you to deal that damage again (essentially two attacks against the grappled victim). At least, that's how I understand it based on the Grab monster ability and the evolution wording.

GM Niles |

I think your asking if your ediolon can take the constrict evolution even though its not serpentine? And the answer is.. I dunno I'd have to check out the completed eidolon and see.
Just be warned, I have a thing against powergaming or trying to "win" we have an awesome group of roleplayers at this virtual table and I would be really leery about allowing in a character that would overshadow the group.

![]() |

I think your asking if your ediolon can take the constrict evolution even though its not serpentine?
Correct. I thought it thematically appropriate without being mechanically overpowered. Being crushed by an otherworldly raging barbarian monster just seems very appropriate for an agile elf's alter ego.

Hecktor |

An eidolon gains powerful muscles that allow it to crush those it grapples. Whenever the eidolon successfully grapples a foe using the grab evolution, it deals additional damage equal to the amount of damage dealt by the attack used by the grab evolution. This evolution is only available to eidolons of the serpentine base form. Source: Advanced Player's Guide
You wanted it to be your char's evil twin, but the eidolon is of the summoner alignment.

![]() |

I'm aware of what the rules are (well, as much as anyone is I suppose). I was asking for a thematic exception for the Constrict evolution, and I mentioned above that the alignment difference was just flavor, as I'm aware the eidolon is supposed to be of your alignment.
Working on an avatar image. Thinking of making an alias for the eidolon.

Michael Stamford |

One thing I'd like to add about our group is that we have made some vague plans to help "free" the people of Falcon's Hollow from being under the boot heel of the Lumber Consortium. Part of our earlier adventures was finding an ancient, abandoned Dwarven monastery to Droskar, the antithesis of Torag, and I've set out to rebuild the shattered remains into not only a functional shrine, but also a small fortress. The shrine will be to Torag, rather than Droskar, since it started out that way. The fortress will have free traveler's beds, which will be just a bed and really nothing else, and serve as a base of operations.
Darkmoon Vale is well known for its werewolves, and one of the things that I'm setting out to do is establish a small group of soldiers that are a mix of the Fangwatch(werewolf hunters) and the Diamond Regiment(Andoran army regiment), and are specific to Falcon's Hollow and the surrounding Darkmoon Wood. The Fangwatch and Diamond Regiment tend to stick to the other side of the Vale, near Olfden, and seem to mostly ignore Falcon's Hollow. Rebuilding and expanding that monastery is key to doing this bit.
Another thing we've talked about doing is trying to curb the logging a little, to make it more sustainable, and to encourage a more friendly relationship with the Fey. This probably won't happen until we put the Lumber Consortium in their place somewhat, since it's all about profit with them.
Also, I may be a cavalier, but I play more like a "paladin with loose morals." It's all about the greater good with me, and I'm more than willing to break a few fingers, smash a few skulls, and maybe incite a riot or two to get there. I'll respect the authority that I think deserves it, like the sheriff, while I'll do everything I can to undermine the authority of folks like Thuldrin Kreed.

A knight in somewhat-shining armor is it? If I get in, I'll have to see how the other players describe themselves as well.
I caught up on the campaign info tab and the Dramatis Personae. Seems like a very organic campaign. Those are tough to make work, so kudos to you all.
I updated my sheet to link to my eidolon's profile and created an alias, Iorn, for it. I removed constrict as it occurred to me that it will almost never come up, since the prerequisite grab requires the target to be smaller (so unless you guys fight a lot of halflings and gnomes and goblins...). Instead I put a rank into Skilled(intimidate) for what seem like obvious reasons, as well as a bite attack to up the savagery.
So these Fey, are they the nice but territorial kind, or the wicked and violent kind? Have you had to fight them, or allied with them, or perhaps neither?
Also, as a consideration, my PbP record is fairly sterling. In fact, I see at least one of you using my app, Wayfinder (which is in dire need of updating, I know). There are very few days I can't post, most days I can post several times (via Wayfinder), and I've never abandoned a PbP (except when a majority have already abandoned it, by way of it being terrible, which happened once).

Lucanor |

To quote the DM from his talk with the Players he already has
I'll keep the recruitment open as long as necessary to find the right players. Also, you guys will choose who joins, either here or by PMing me your choice. Three out of four of you have to agree on someone or they won't be joining.
So you still have a little time.
I've no idea about 3rd party stuff

GM Niles |

Link what your interested in and we will check it out. And the other 4 players will be choosing who they would like to join them. So apply away we would definitely like to see what you come up with.
Check out the dramatis personae link as well as the gameplay tab to see what we have been up to.
The current party is
Inquisitor, Bard, Cavalier and Fighter so full spellcasters would probably be given precedence but then again my players have been doing just fine without one so just post what you would want to play.

Alistus |

Hey guys, I've been instructed to post my proposed build here in the recruitment thread. I'm thinking about playing a wand-based Aasimar Ninja/Sorcerer/Arcane Trickster, starting Arcane Trickster at level 5. The starting build would be Ninja 3/Sorcerer 1. At the moment this character is focused on dealing single target sneak attack damage, but can also act as a regular control wizard at times. I'm going to start putting together the crunch now, any advice/opinions are welcome!

How would an Oracle be looked upon? I have an idea of an Oracle ready, going either a Time Oracle (Enlightend Philosopher archetype) with Tongues Curse or a Lunar Oracle (possible Stargazer archetype) with Deaf Curse if they need an extra hand in combat.
The Time Oracle would be a controlling spells type/loremaster and the Lunar Oracle a somewhat aggressive type that loves the night sky, perhaps bringing in a wolf companion as well.

Michael Stamford |

In fact, I see at least one of you using my app, Wayfinder (which is in dire need of updating, I know).
Indeed. It isn't a bad app by any stretch, just a little bit lean on features. Not that I want it bloated, but a couple things should have probably already been in place. If I could bend your ear a bit, I have a couple relatively minor(or at least they should be, but I'm not a coder so who knows) suggestions, as well as one or two that may be either hard or impossible to do. I'm also pretty sure you've probably had most of my suggestions come from other folks already.

I have a planned features list a mile long, but send me a PM and I'll see what I can do. The next version is going to have timestamps, preview/edit posts, and advanced navigation (including "next page", "previous page", "jump to top", and "jump to bottom").

Speaking for myself, Oracles are dandy unless your character has something against Iomedae's Church and followers. Lucanor is not the leader of the party by any stretch (If you ask the Kobolds, it's Michael ;) ) but Luc is probably the most disproving of evil magics and the like and we're looking for those who can work as part of a team as much as anything I think.

Silas Hawkwinter |

I'm generally happy with any non evil alignment (CN might be a stretch).
I'm not sure which way the campaign is going to go next but there's a number of strong plot hooks. My best guess is we'll end up being outlawed by the corrupt Gavel on some pretext and will try to stop a war with the fae and may end up deposing the Gavel.
With that in mind the main question I'd have for anyone joining is what goals as a player would you be interested in? Where your patents worked to death by the consortium? Want revenge? Perhaps we can help... Maybe you have a touch of first world blood and object to the ignorant slaughter of the fae and want to stop the war?

Hecktor |

@Arkknight, what spells would your magus be using? On the melee side, we're not shabby. Support from range is nifty to have, with our ranged chars gone NPC.
@Jax Kraven. Necromancer wouldn't be right i think. We've saved the town from an undead overnight raid, people won't be thrilled with someone who deals in the undead.

GM Niles |

@ Arknight ACG playtest, nah but on the other side I'll probably start a game just for playtest classes once that book comes out.
@ Arama I don't think having an older character would be too overpowering, I'd have to see the character though, fluff means alot to me.
To all the potential players, read carefully what the current players are saying because they will be choosing who joins. I'm just the arbiter of the rules in the game and I set up the story but these guys have been making it great from day 1.
The most important thing is finding a character and player that is consistent and meshes well with the current group.

Gilmork is an unusual name for an elf, yet he took this name unto himself when he set out from his old home. Well home if you can call a society in which you are shunned and bullied home. Usually elves are knowledgeable about many things, though when Gilmork was born none of his town knew what to make of his affliction; an elven face with a muzzle and twisted ears, resembling a wolf or a dog. Looking more feral than any other elf growing up was rough, especially when he as an elf grew rough hairs on his cheeks and chin. His mother was comforted at his birth, but now was being condemned for sleeping with a wolf or an evil nature spirit. Feeling lost for a way out, Gilmork approached the wisest manand prophet of his town and asked him for guidance.
The old and ancient elf had a day to think and commune with the gods and came back to Gilmork with a reply, a reply that he didn’t expect. ”Gilmork. Your affliction is no coincidence, you are called forth by Gozreh, you have a destiny in his service. Though I do not know where your wanderings will take you, I know it doesn’t lie here. You should leave as soon as you can.”
Gilmork didn’t trust the old elf with his saying, thinking they all just want him gone, their ‘Omen of doom’. Nevertheless he set out into the world, wandering around until. Now and then he could hear whisperings amongst the wood, fey creatures, animals, trees it seemed, perhaps even Gozreh himself. The first years they were only whisperings, the last year though, the voices became mixed with his dreams, picturing a dark wood where all matter of dark creatures seem to roam; lycanthropes, undead and evil men alike and disease would spread. He didn’t know where it was, but every night he dreamt of it, saw glimpses of it amongst the trees where he walked. He had to get there, had to know why his dreams and affliction came to him, what it all meant.
After months he came across a village, where he had heard about a town called Falcon’s Hollow that was troubled with a strange new disease and its troubles there. He asked for directions there, got them but was quickly driven away when they saw his face. Apparently people were scared of him, shouting insults and ”Monster! Lycanthrope!” at him. Knowing that he was in in the right area, he took care of not being seen that often, but sometimes woodsmen and lumberjacks would spot him and he had to run. He saw from a distance a small group of people gathering herbs and ingredients. Later he came upon the town in earnest, skulking around its gates, doubting if it was a good idea to go in or not. Every day he doubted himself, was it worth the risk? Until he saw the undead attacking the town, then he had to hide in earnest.
The town having survived the attack, Gilmork now thinks to himself It’s now or never. If I want to know what I can do here and why I got this blasted affliction, I’ll have to approach these folk and see how I could help.
Gilmork knows he has a mismacthed face and mostly shrouds his mouth and nose from sight. His elven hair and fair eyes are his only redeeming features in his face. Though he can hide his face, his problems with speaking can indicate something is wrong with him, therefore he speaks mostly short sentences. He is actually quite social from time to time when you get to know him, but he talks the most when he is inside the forests, where he feels most comfortable.
Here's my submission for all of your approval. I'm guessing roleplay between my character and yours might be a bit rough at first though.
I asked the question about age for the Oracle of Time, GM. That Oracle would have been an old and wise person, more of a caster than a fighter.

Arama Blackclaw |

I figured I might be an extra cause of the increase of werewolf sightings around town.
As to the avoid getting lynched part, as long as I keep the lower half of my face scarfed I could get by. Though I'd have to try to convince them that a werewolf doesn't really wear armor or that it is weird that only part of my face and body seems deformed/wolflike.
If that doesn't get me anywhere I'd have to first meet you I suppose and hope you have better sense than the townsfolk.
