Agreed, think Khyrn is a 16, right? Either way, sorry Markus.

If others have not yet attacked, Khyrn looks at the other ruffians, "Are you going to let him cost you 50 gold? You're already criminals and grave robbers because of him - just give us the name and you get the gold!"

If battle occurs, Khyrn assumes a full defensive posture in the first round of combat.

Effective AC: 19

Ahh, for some reason I forgot about Khyrn's preemptive roll and had re-rolled for hm when I did the initiative. If this goes to actual fighting, I'll fix it, not that it messes with the order that much.

Gods Markus! Ramos yells. Are you going to just take this? Whirling back on the half-orc Ramos prepares to defend himself, while squarely looking the half-orc in the eye. You threaten my friend and I'll threaten you. You got information? Good! Now be smart. I'll pay you but not your hopped up little cronies. Now, here's the deal. We found the shack. We found the Owlbear, and we killed it. Think about that for a second. We Killed it. Gods below! You should be paying us. Now tell us what you know.

Well technically they killed the male and wounded the female, which you guys then finished off...

Todrik makes to rise, but Kullen reaches out a hand and pulls him back to his seat.

The half-orc slowly wipes the spittle from his face and grins viciously at Ramos, murder dancing in his eyes.

"You know what? I suddenly find myself in a generous mood. You know the old observatory outside of town? (you do) If I were looking for some old bones I might try there. Now you all have a nice evening."

He turns grimly back to his drink, ignoring both you and his bewildered compatriots.

I have this visual of Lucid, behind the bar, holding his forarm of his right arm, index finger extended like a rifle, one eye closed and ready.

The wizard slowly pulls a coin from his pocket and lays it on the bar as he moves to his side of the serving area and prepares to leave. He motions to his group with a wave and a silent Come on!.

Male Human Lore Warden 3 - Scout 4 | AC 21/16/15 | HP 27/63 | F+7 R+9 W+4 | Init +3 | Perc +10

Markus listens to the situation defuse as he stalks out the door, pausing just long enough to grab his fauchard.

An alchohol fuelled Sverrir stops short as the group finish negotiations with the half orc.

As the others move away the dwur stands wearing a grim smile;

"Kullennnn... we have unfinshhhed business you and me... Reckon we danse when we get back eh?"

Kullen raises his eyes to the swaying dwarf,

"Oh we'll dance dwarf, we'll dance..."

Seeing the others leave the bar, Pavo gets back to the game, not wanting to leave a gold piece behind if he could waste it. Turning back to his competitor, Pavo asks, "What was that all about?" Before taking up a throwing knife and launching it towards the next target.

Pavo:

"Couldn't say, I've heard that the ones at the table work for one of the local mine managers, but that's about it. I try to stay uninvolved with the local happenings. Once we're done with cairn we're investigating, it's back to Greyhawk for me, so no need for unnecessary drama." (Throw2: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22, Throw3: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19 she'll miss in two more tosses, so if you can make 2 AC20 hits you win)

Khyrn pulls Sev away and leads him outside. Seeing Ramos, he says, "Watch your back, brother. The look he gave you was a promise... and thanks for jumping in."

We arrived in town around late afternoon - how long would it take us to get to the observatory? Could we do it before sunset? If so, Khyrn suggests heading up there immediately.

If not, Khyrn suggests we all rest and reconvene in the morning to hit the observatory.

You could make it there in less than an hour, so let's say yes.

GM Fanguar:
Taking up a dagger, Pavo respond, "One o' the cairns eh? And you actually found anything o' value in them? I've been living in Diamond Lake my whole life and from what I recall, all those places have been looted for ages. Heck, I had my first kiss while on an overnight dare in one o' those cairns when I was about 12 winters."

Looking at his throw, Pavo tisks before saying "Looks like you got me this time around." Forking over the gold crown he owed, he continues with, "Thanks fer the game. If you got the time, make sure to stop by the Emporium before you leave. The clientele might be a tad snobbish, but there be some good people working there." With that, Pavo leaves the bar to meet up with the rest of the group.

Oh aye, he had murder in his eyes Khyrn. But we got what we came for. And a brute like that could only appreciated a show of force. If I had backed down he would have thought us easy. Now, lets go check out the observatory.

Male Human Lore Warden 3 - Scout 4 | AC 21/16/15 | HP 27/63 | F+7 R+9 W+4 | Init +3 | Perc +10

Come on, now... No fighting. We need our strength and wit about us if we're to keep exploring that damned cairn. You lay off the drink, Sverrir! Need you sober.

Think we can trust the info? And, for the record... I'd of clean their clocks every one. Just not good form to wreck the local tavern, lads. Not good form at all.

Placing his arm around the dwarf, Markus starts down the street. And when did the men of the cloth get so violent?!

The small wizard looks relieved that a fight did not not break out. Had we fought we might have shown our hand. Still we made a scene. Word travels fast in this small down. Lets get to the observatory before news of us does.

From what I gather, you guys have not intention on buying or selling anything yet. I just wanted to double check before I moved things to the observatory

Pavo:
"Bah, we haven't found much worth the trouble, but Kelleck (he's the 3rd adventurer from Greyhawk) is determined to find what he's looking for. Says he's following in the footsteps of an expedition that came out this way 20 years ago or so, but if they did, we've seen no sign of them."

She takes your coin with a grin, "Thanks for the game. You know where to find me if you feel like losing more money."

Sverrir balefully stares down Kullen as he is ushered from the tavern, only to have the look replaced by a mournful one as he spies the undrunk boilermakers sat upon the bar...

Rage ended i guess :(

Wearily he trudges with the others, fighting the need to slake his thirst...

We should probably offload some loot nei? And the cub??

"I think we can trust the info, he wants us dead, so why not send us to the person responsible for unearthing all those bodies?"

"And I'm not a man of the cloth. I'm a man of the chainmail and battleaxe, Ramos just likes to push his luck." Khyrn says grinning at the other priest.

Ready to head up to the observatory. Think we can wait on getting rid of stuff.

You never know when you'll need something you just found... classic Faery Tale mechanism.

Well at the very least, it's good that we're getting to now each the other.

Now, where is Pavo?

Male Human Rogue 4 AC:18 T:14 FF:14 / HP:16 / Init:+4 / F:+2 R:+8 W:+2 / CMD:19

Having heard that the others were headed for the Old Observatory, Pavo begins to head in that direction at a quick pace so that he can catch up with the others. After a bit of running around, Pavo meets up with the others as he exclaims, "There you all are. Sorry for falling behind, but I had a game to finish, learned a bit about the three adventurers from Greyhawk as well. Seems they are here following an expedition that came through Diamond Lake about 20 some odd years ago. It doesn't seem like they have found the cairn we have been exploring yet however. The slim one seems to be good with a knife as well, took my gold, though I put up quite a fight."

Male Human Lore Warden 3 - Scout 4 | AC 21/16/15 | HP 27/63 | F+7 R+9 W+4 | Init +3 | Perc +10

Markus smiles at Pavo's approach. Information is good. Anything regarding their disposition? Cold blooded mercenaries, heroes in the making, seekers of lore?

A short distance north of Diamond Lake, on a bluff overlooking an abandoned mine, a crumbling old observatory casts its gaze to the heavens. A wide slit bisects its domed tower, where surely a great telescope once peered into eternity. Now the place bears a dark character, like a sagging tenement broken under the weight of decades of inhabitants. A slim stairway cut into the steep hillside leads to the structure's only door, on the side of the tower's attached one-story outbuilding. Flickering light filters through the observatory's only windows, along the tower's second and third floors.

Male Human Rogue 4 AC:18 T:14 FF:14 / HP:16 / Init:+4 / F:+2 R:+8 W:+2 / CMD:19

"Well, the elf seemed more like wanting to adventure for adventure. However, since they were following another expedition, it is possible that at least one of them is working with an organized group. Maybe the bodies with the symbols in the cairn were part of that group?"

Spotting the Old Observatory, Pavo comments, "Well don't that place looks pleasant."

Human Cleric of Ralishaz 3 AC 18 / HP 17/27 / F +5 R +3 W +7 / Init. +2 / Perc. +11)

It's possible I suppose Ramos mutters to Pavo. Gods, they might even pay to know the location of the lost expedition. Ramos utters thoughtfully. Once we are done here and we have finished exploring the cairn we might want to have a talk with them.

Putting a hand on Pavo's shoulder, Ramos gives a firce grin. Your the scout.. He states, while also gazing up at the old observator.

Male Human Lore Warden 3 - Scout 4 | AC 21/16/15 | HP 27/63 | F+7 R+9 W+4 | Init +3 | Perc +10

Slipping his enchanted blade form his belt, Pavo makes his way towards the front door of the observatory, keeping to the shadowy areas that are scattered around the path that leads up to the Observatory.

Stealth: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (14) + 9 = 23

Pavo ghosts over to the base of the observatory. The stairway rised to a wide landing and two huge wooden doors. Shot through with dark blue mould, the doors form an enormous round moon carved with a lunatic's jabbering face. Beneath the landing, an unremarkable wooden door appears to lead to a tool closet under the stairs. Applying the softest touch, you find both doors to be locked.

Slipping is something Markus needs to learn! Gotta tell you of course, I'm VERY upset... lost my post about Lucid being "short range" :)

Any advantage Pavo's stealth may have gained is quickly lost as Markus clomps along in his wake.

The tool closet's lock gives way to Pavo's deft touch.

Is everyone else staying at a distance or....? Just trying to get an idea of where everyone is in relation to everyone else.

"Feh. Lets just get on with this... left a round of boilermakers in the Dog und I've a date with that ugly half breed..."

Markus opens the door to reveal a tool shed. A couple of muddy wheel barrows stand propped against one wall with an assortment of shovels and other tools strewn about.
