Pip looks about perplexed
"What the Hades was in that thing I smoked?"
He picks up a large cigar butt off the ground and sniffs it suspiciously
"Man, never buy a cigar off an extraplanar kobold. Sheesh."
He looks around.
"Umm, I kinda zoned out there. What's going on??"
I have time on my comp! Huzzah! Trying to update as I can!!
HUZZAH!
It's been kinda slow lately; they're on the shore of a lake/river bordering the dragon's island; there's a hag with a gingerbread house and two fat human kids and a boat that can get you to the island, on account of the river is part of the Styx, which isn't a good place to swim.

Loot:
huge masterwork falchion

Here's the loot list from the last fight with the Link boy; not sure who took what at this point.
I think I'll get a chance later this evening, divide it all up, give you all a coin equivalent value and do it that way; I'll get a chance to do all that later this evening I reckon.

Elgan Dreadwood |

GEtting there. SLowly. Thanks for asking. ;P Main (medical) problem is wife's grandmother. In hospital. (For multiple reasons, currently in ICU recovering from emergency stomach surgery & lung infection) ;P All prayers/well-wishes gratefully accepted! :D
Huzzah! Indeed! ;)
Elgan yawns, stretching like a cat. (You weren't aware that the humanoid body could quite stretch like that. Well, maybe Beldan knew.) He scratches behind one ear as he walks over to see what Altai is doing. AGain, you don't know WHERE the little druid keeps picking up bits of twig and leaves in his hair from. As far as you can tell the conjured house is otherwise quite clean.

Beldan Vale |

"Yeah, I'm ready," says Beldan. "Hey Pip, nice to have you back in the world of the not stoned."
He glances over at The Stig who's been drinking hard most of the night and now sits in a half-stupor, his arm draped about Tensor's neck ("Aye sley dragoons better th' way lad," slurs the dwarf. "Rye ron't rink ro!" barks Tensor.)
"Now, if only we could do something about Stiggy ..."

Beldan Vale |

Reposted from the discussion thread if anyone missed it.
TREASURE
huge masterwork falchion: 600gp (sell for 300gp)
huge +1 greataxe: 2380gp (sell for 1190gp)
40,000 gold pieces
headband of intellect +3: keep? Sell?
ring of protection +3 keep: – Elgan?
5 scrolls of summon monster 8: keep – Altai? And/or Pip and Elgan? Beldan might take one to use with UMD skill.
spells: (for Altai)
incendiary cloud
protection from spells
summon monster 8
summon monster 7
prismatic spray
dispel magic greater
repulsion
disintegrate
cloudkill
teleport
cone of cold
mage's private sanctum
And a colossal hammer. +3. 18,396 (sell for 9198)Assuming we can sell everything I’ve indicated (not including the head band of Int – anyone want it? Beldan doesn’t), that is 50,688 gp.
Divided 7 ways (Beldan, Elgan, Altai, Pip, Stig, Hnoss, Gjetost – let’s be generous) that is 7,241gp, 1sp, 4cp each.
So I've got Elgan down for the RoP +3. Beldan took one scroll of summon monster, the rest are up for grabs unless Altai or Elgan already took some. And a Headband of Intellect +3 is up for grabs too.

Altai wanders down to the door. "Who is it?"
Buffing will be vital in this fight, but I've always wondered if there's any point in boosting our ACs against this kind of opponent. Energy resistance seems obvious, as does anything that boosts our attack bonuses. What else? After all, we have two extraordinarily powerful spellcasters, and Pip is a very useful and often overlooked arcanist as well.
A few high level summoned monsters, them (and the group) buffed with mass bull's strength and bear's endurance might not be a bad idea. Summoned monsters probably won't last long against a tough dragon, but they might get in a few lucky hits and soak up some attacks, especially if we can summon things that are acid resistant (assuming our intel that it's a black dragon is correct) or we can make them so.
Energy resistance yes, Beldan and Stig (and possibly some of the others, I'm not sure) purchased a bunch of potions of energy protection and resistance. The trick is in the timing, you don't want to go too soon and they run out, or too late and the dragon ambushes us and breathes - we should assume that the witch has betrayed us or it is paranoid enough to know we're here.
Tend to agree on the AC, probably safe to assume that the dragon is boasting anywhere from a +25 to +35 on its primary attack. Still, someone with a high AC (like Beldan) might benefit from a few more points (if its possible to boost further), it might at least stop an unlucky roll.
Oh, and Pip should certainly be rocking the inspire courage and haste combo.

I think it might be a bit soft for you and your players Heathy:)
I keep forgetting that the fine Mister Pett keeps up with this thread sometimes. I have to watch what I say about his modules.
Just checked, all good, I said Sound of a Thousand Screams was 'great' - phew! Just reading another one of yours at the moment Richard, really liking Forest of Spirits - I think it has turned me around on Jade Regent.

Huzzah! Glad you like it, I like the whole AP apart from Part two, but I can't recall who wrote that bit...

We're not going to get to the Isle of Dread at this rate though, are we ;-)
We'll get there some day.

An Old Fishwife |

You guys go outside,
It's morning. The longboat is waiting; she has gathered a ragtag crew of ogres to row it to the island, and the Fishwife is at the steerboard.
They look surly, but nothing you guys couldn't plow through in 30 seconds.......
"Ready to board the Witch's Teat?" she cackles out to the party.
The tower looms above the island.
You feel like.....you're being watched.

dungeonmaster heathy |

There's a gangplank, and the small group climbs aboard. She rows you out into the lake; cool mist rising up. You see, here and there, shadowy forms floating above the water. And things milling about under the surface; things that are not fish.
The longboat rows you to a dock on the island, of wooden planking attached to stone legs. It looks like a mile or so, sloping gently upward through tangled pinetrees to the tower at the center. A light snow begins to fall.

Beldan Vale |

"Atmospheric," comments Beldan, looking up at the snow flakes.
"Thanks for the ride," he says to the Fishwife. "So our draconic friend lives in the tower, right? Assuming that we kill it and survive, how can we signal you for a pickup? Or will you be back to loot the bodies anyway?"

dungeonmaster heathy |

a map I call "marching order."
You don't have to be in the yellow square per se, just a suggestion, but I need a representation of your order as you head to the tower.
And a perception roll from everybody who feels like doing so.

Elgan Dreadwood |

Heh, (Have to go back and re-read Mr Pett's stuff now.) ;)
I have Elgan (almost) all updated. I'll go back and re-pick some spells to give us what I can for Mass energy protection, and then what I can spare for MAss barkskin, bulls str, etc. Oh! I also get to pick a new best friend! (Higher level summons for greenbound template!) :D First Chia Pet, then JGG, what next?,... ;P
Elgan rides along, peering over the edge of the boat seemingly unafraid. (Perhaps his living so long among the high branches of the forest has made him unafraid of heights. Or maybe he's just not quite aware of just exactly HOW bad falling in would be!)
He actually waves a cheerful goodbye to the fishwife and her rowers as they pull away. The turns back to the group.
"Alri' den," He says smiling, interlacing his fingers and flexing his arms until the knuckles pop.
"Whut's deh plan den?" He grins.

Altai Iscarni |

Most of my spells are meant to make mincedragon. However, I do have three castings of Stoneskin memorised - one for Stig, one for Gjetost and one for whoever needs it.
Toodle-pip everyone, good luck, good xmas.
And to you too, good fellow!

Pendobar 'Pip' Bushytoe |

Huuzah!
Perception: 1d20 + 27 ⇒ (9) + 27 = 36
Pip looks about as they travel further along this tributary of the Styx
"This calls for a song!"
He strums Lucille
"Riding the storm out,
Waiting for the thaw out,
On a full moon night,
In the frigid Fimbulwinter .."

Still dealing with Granny in Hospital, and going to Oklahoma to visit my side of the family. Not sure when/if I'll be online till the new year. And MERRY CHRISTMAS! :D
Heh. I WAS going to 'gift' you all with a fully-typed out rendition of 'The Cajun Night Before Christmas' as told by everyone's favorite CajunDruidElf. But unfortunately, (or fortunately, depending upon your point of view) I just didn't/don't have time/energy to do that right now. I will be glad to later. Or look it up! I promise you that you won't regret it! :)
