The two women easily finished off the off-colored lizardman, who had deep red, almost black, scales, rather than the familiar green tones. The reptilian fell into pieces hitting the floor.
(Yazi, Nasir, and Bartan now stand on an enemy-free platform.)
(Rayhan, Hajar)

Bartan Harrowborn |

Bartan shrugs. "Clearly I climbed up here for nothing." He starts checking the enemies for useful items.

1 person marked this as a favorite. |

(Moral support, Bartan!)
Bartan finds:
- two pink potions in heavy glass
- two white potions in heavy glass
- 2 mwk cold iron heavy mace
- 2 mwk cold iron longbow
- 2 quivers of mwk cold iron arrows (think extra-long crossbow bolts) in fire-resistant copper quivers
- 5 Large cold iron ballasta bolts
(Rayhan, Hajar?)

Bartan Harrowborn |

Spellcraft: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (5) + 20 = 25 Bartan points out the contents of the potions after a quick sniff of each. "Anyone need some cold iron? We seem to have a lot to go around."

Bartan Harrowborn |

"Unfortunately no, generally it helps overcome the natural defenses of things such as demons." Bartan says, hoping to be helpful.

"Ow!" Gilbans cried out as he tried to fly over the lizardman still standing across from Khayal and Hajar. "If we're following The Plan, then everyone needs to get over here on this side!" the fire giant said as he paused and turned right to be over Rayhan's head on the other area of rubble.
"These masters?" snorted Broadbeard. "I can be set down now, flame-head." he suggested. "Gently! Gently! I'm not made of cast iron, you know! Think porcelain!" the azer quickly shouted, almost dangling from the fire giant's fist.

4 crits, of course it’s when I don’t need them. Khayal stops swinging when the lizard goes down. Let me know how many of these crits, actually count. :) Would be 168 non lethal if he could take it.

GM_Pace |

Most of Khayal's right-handed blows to the Fire Cult Lizardfolk get past the shimmering white shield around the reptile, and the dark red-black lizardman folds like a cheap tent onto the ground. (Only 10 non-lethal needed.)
(Khayal and Hajar have a 10-foot-tall platform in front of them, capped with a ballastia; the stairs are to their left around the corner.)
(Bartan, Nasir, and Yazi are on the ballastia platform, and have the option of making a 25-foot jump to where Rayhan is below, or going down the stairs to the level of the corridor to the East.)
(Gilbans the fire giant is 25 feet above Rayhan but is descending with Broadbeard.)
(Nasir, Bartan, Rayhan, Yazi, Hajar)

GM_Pace |

(Trying not to railroad here, Nasir, but those are the two obvious choices. Getting to the West side mandates the 25-foot jump, but you now have a Fire Giant on that side willing to help you down. For Bartan, Nasir, and Yazi the stairs are in the wrong direction. That hill to the West is the "way out" according to The Plan. Khayal and Hajar can make it to the edge of the Western hill in a double move. Gilbans the fire giant knew from prior experience that running away from the Fire Lizardmen was really the best option.)

Khayal Bin Haleen |

Was trying to think this through tactically, Khayal is wary of having enemies blocking off his escape route if we head to the west.
Khayal runs over to the fire lizard to the east, kukris in hand. As he barrels forward, Khayal yells over his shoulder. Yazi and Nasir, grab the ones to the south.

Bartan Harrowborn |

I'm not quite understanding the "stairs are the wrong way" comment... if I want to get down to where Yazi is, I can't take those stairs, and have to jump as well?

Once on the floor next to Rayhan, seeing how everyone else wanted to stay on the upper level, Broadbeard shrugged. "Look like you're the master I protect, here." he told the elderly human. The azer started looking around.

+1 blackspire kukri: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (14) + 12 = 261d10 + 15 ⇒ (9) + 15 = 24
His blades sing, but not with the melody they usually do. It is all Khayal can do to not drop his blades as he fumbles through his attacks.
Not his best work

GM_Pace |

Khayal's edged metal almost killed one lizardman (red), but the tough creature hissed spitefully, not falling. His brother next to him (gold) was not so lucky; Khayal's kurkis hit a vital point, and the creature died on the spot.
Gilbans watched the humans run to fight the fire-lizards. "Prime Planers are insane." the fire-giant opined. Behind him, Broadbeard nodded soberly. "I'm ready to help anyone down this side! You know, the plan we made?" Gilbans shouted, holding out a fiery arm and hand to the edge of the ballista tower. (Getting down changed to a move action.)
(Rayhan, Hajar, Bartan, Monsters, Yazi)

Bartan Harrowborn |

Bartan comes down the stairs to stand next to Yazi, then casts a spell from his wand and tosses a card at one of the baddies near her (purple).
card: 1d54 ⇒ 16 => The Avalanche, no match.

GM_Pace |

Bartan's playing card hit the lizardman, the frost cracking over its' chest as the creature hissed in pain. But the lizardman kept standing.
Hajar moved to stand next to Bartan at the bottom of the steps to the ballista. Rayhan decided to face the other way in the corridor, ready for anything to come out of the empty area.
The lizardman nearest Yazi (black) dropped its' longbow, stepping up to the woman and using both hands and its' mouth to attack.
Claw1 Atk on Yazi: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12
Claw2 Atk on Yazi: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13
Bite Atk on Yazi: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13
But all the attacks were like a drunkard trying to walk a straight line at daybreak after a harvest festival.
The other three lizardfolk took a potion from their belts, each drinking one. A white glow soon covered each reptile, as they moved to intercept the intruders.

Acrobatics: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25 matches Yazi's CMD!
The female warrior slashed at the (purple, damaged) lizardman...only to have it dodge the attack with a rotating step! The reptile made dancing moves, looking side to side, while Yazi's second swing hit the white glow around the enemy. The lizardman appeared to leer at the woman, its' jaw wide, dancing in its' square, even as Yazi's swing came back and...missed again!
At this point all the lizardmen in the corridor started laughing at the spectacle, hissing and holding their sides as the lizardman appeared to dance in front of the warrior woman.
Several of the other lizardmen imitated the dance in front of the adventurers...
Of course, dance quality is in the eye of the beholder, as a certain dancer in your midst might object to.

To the far West down the brass corridor, Broadbeard shook his head. "Crazy Prime Planers. See, I told you-" he started to comment to Rayhan, but then movement caught his eye. The azer tugged at Rayhan's sleeve. "Master, the fire-dwarf said, "we have, uh, another azer down the hallway here?"

Bartan Harrowborn |

Are the two enemies next to Yazi the dead ones? And the two further to the north with blue lines on them, those are alive?

Bartan Harrowborn |

Okay then... I'm confused. It looks to me like all of them are dead or unconscious? Or am I missing some enemies?

Khayal Bin Haleen |

Khayal takes the moment to wipe the blood from his kukris. He pauses for a second thankful that he is at least with his friends.

"Finally!" Hajar muttered. He moved to the stairs, then to the fire giant's outstretched arm.
Meanwhile, Rayhan took a look down the hallway.
"Ah." the older man stated, taking a step closer down the hallway. "I do believe he is one of ours. I recognize the color of his jacket." He waved the fire-dwarf over to them. The azer responded by breaking into a run towards the mage.
Yazi, Bartan, and Khayal hear doors opening and slamming shut to the South.
Gilbans helped Hajar down to the West corridor. The fire-giant remained hovering a few feet above the rubble, reluctant to give up his magical flight while it lasted.

Yazi mowed down the leftmost Lizardman (green). (Killed.)
Meanwhile, the azer from the corridor got within speaking range of Rayhan, Hajar, and Broadbeard. "Masters. the fire dwarf wheezed, eyeing the unknown Broadbeard uncertainly. "We have kept the 'back door' way open for you to go back to the lava river and the staircase to the marid."
"Good work - pull the other guard to us." Hajar commanded. "We are going up, not back down." Rayhan added "Don't mind this one - we picked him up in the corridors below. He works for us now." pointing at Broadbeard.
The two azer exchanged words in Ignan, which seemed to satisfy both of them about the other. The younger fire-dwarf turned to run back to the corridor intersection.
Hajar and Rayhan moved West to check out the corridor, leaving Broadbeard and Gilbans behind.
