Dhavyn Barr |
Dhavyn eyes the thorny thicket and shakes his head as others advance there heedless of the danger. "We could have burned a route through. It might have even forced anything dwelling there to reveal itself. Is this truly where the tracks lead?"
I'm wondering about dimensions of each square and about how large area we are talking of. I see no point for Dhavyn to rush in and get impaled if it's a small thicket and everyone is within sight range?
Anjali Nejem |
Concerned about the bleating that she hears, Anjali quietly tries to navigate through the prickly thicket of cacti and joshua trees as best as she can.
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
She bites back a curse as a thorn catches her skin while trying to squeeze past Dhavyn and get into a decent position to watch over the group.
Avenka Thalma |
Avenka draws her flail and is ready for combat or an ambush. She moves north...
Acrobatics: 1d20 - 4 ⇒ (7) - 4 = 3 ... and eats damage (1 pt?)
Perception to see anything that sets her off: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (13) - 1 = 12
Yazi |
As the group readies to set out in the morning as everyone is prepared it takes Doc dragging the soundly sleeping Yazi by her heels to the group before she awakens. "Mwah? We going?" Luckily all she has on her is what she travels with so there are no further delays.
As they approach the thicket she'll unsheave her sword to help with clearing a path towards the bleating.
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9
"Here sheepy sheep. Here sheepy SONAVAB$%! Doc, stay out of this mess!" Her warning turns to angry grumbling as she attacks the brush, moreso out of revenge than to clear the path.
Hadassa |
First, Dhavyn, the scale is always 1 sq = 5ft unless otherwise specified.
Second, Hajar's question: the check is for every move action during combat. And don't forget, a successful acro check allows you to move HALF SPEED. It's -5 penalty if you do an acro check while moving full combat speed, mwahaha! But wait! There's more...
The Good new: you paid for your pre-combat positioning with that acro roll, so place yourselves on the map wherever you wanna be. I see Hajar is by the goat.
But the Bad News:
rerolls
1d20 ⇒ 12
1d20 ⇒ 8
1d20 ⇒ 12
1d20 ⇒ 18
1d20 ⇒ 10
Brahman deftly dodges the prickles, showing the others how it's done and...Oh wait! 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2 Bad Luck! He trips on his shoe laces and takes a nose dive into a Joshua tree. -1HP bro!
Then he tries to move stealthily, and does indeed succeed with that roll of 19 and...Oh wait! 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9 Bad luck! He steps on a dried twig emitting a loud SNAP!
Dahski sees all this and his hand goes to the Scimitar on his hip. He is with you under Khayal's orders, remember. Halem-subier ale khamdela...we can go no further my friends! We are caught in the unluck aura of the Pugwampi!
When Hajar reaches the goat he finds himself on the edge of a ravine (see map). A casual glance down the edge reveals a huge multi-armed, wickedly barbed cactus dominating the ground 10 feet below the ledge, almost directly below where the sad little goat Rombard has been lazily tied to a scrub bush. He's in bad shape: cactus spines riddle it's body It's down to 3HP.
Khayal Bin Haleen |
Hearing that we are near our new foe, Khayal draws his kukris.
I am unable to pull up the google doc at this time but have no issue with another player or the GM moving me. I would like to be placed about ten feet from the goat. I do not want to get too close and scare it.
Bartan Harrowborn |
Bartan moves up to the goat, carefully avoiding the bushes (moving half speed, Acrobatics: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19)
When he reaches the poor creature, he pulls out a scroll of infernal healing and casts it on the goat. The goat will receive healing in the form of 1 hit point per round for 10 rounds.
He then takes a quick glance down the ravine, just to see if he can determine where these 'pugwampis' are. Perception: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (5) - 1 = 4
Hajar nar Jundi |
And will also detect as evil....Hajar will not be approving.
Dhavyn Barr |
Not high enough perception checks to spot them Avenka. Probably hiding in the undergrowth.
Dhavyn looks around from his position "I don't see anything, and this aura of unluck sounds like fabrication of over imaginative mind. Are we really supposed to be threatened by old wives' tales?" He winces as Bahram takes a dive to the bush face first.
Edit: Forgot my on perception check
perception: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (7) + 0 = 7
Hadassa |
Avenka - Dhavyn is correct. Joshua trees everywhere and unlucky perception rolls! Where ARE the little devils?
Bartan - reroll those rolls and take the lower result. How unlucky!
Hajar nar Jundi |
Yazi |
Romperdickle is obviously an Antipaladin of Baphomet!
After talking her aggression out on the brush she'll manage to calm down enough to survey the area they're frolicking in.
Perception: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (7) + 11 = 18
Perception: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (7) + 11 = 18
Ha! Suck it Puggies!
Bahram the rogue |
BTW those roll modifiers for Bahram's re-rolls you made are wrong, but with those base rolls it does not matter. Note that he is +7 acrobatics, and +9 stealth.
Bartan Harrowborn |
"I apologize, monsieur goat, but I don't believe you will complain about this healing curse, even though it involves the use of devil blood."
Re-rolls:
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4 <- Ouch! Another point of damage for me.
Perception: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (10) - 1 = 9 <- I can barely see my shoes.
Yeah, the whole evil spell thing sucks, but if Hajar makes a fuss about it I'll explain that Lady Irez does not put much faith in the ideas of "good" and "evil", as the fates can be fickle mistresses, and we must follow their wills either way.
Yazi |
Ok, Avenka will make a perception check to spot them :
[dice=Perception]1d20 - 1
[dice=Perception]1d20 - 1Aaaahhhh, 0 !!!
Told ya not to stare at the Sun.
Anjali Nejem |
Anjali winces upon seeing Bahram dive head first into the prickly thorns of a joshua tree and stays put. "Dhavyndor, I am no longer so sure about these pugwampis and their unluck. Bahram can be many things, but I do not believe that clumsy is one of them."
Carefully studying the vegetation around them, Anjali pulls out her crossbow and loads it while she hunts for any signs of the creatures - tracks, bent or snapped thorns, anything to indicate where they might be hiding.
Survival: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10
In case she's within the bad luck aura:
Survival: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11
Khayal Bin Haleen |
With the goat in a better condition Khayal begins to look arround.
Perception: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
Perception: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 1 = 20
Acrobatics: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (5) - 2 = 3
Acrobatics: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (8) - 2 = 6
Hadassa |
The Goat receives infernal healing, but bleats and pulls hard at his tether. Poor thing is scared to death.
That's when Yazi sees them, and everyone else sees it as soon as she calls out. You just spared the party the Pugwampi surprise round, lucky girl. One up on the giant joshua tree in the ravine and another slinking up the ravine and approaching you from the west...As if the world’s most revolting lapdog had somehow learned to walk on its back legs, this sickly canine creature slinks forward carefully, its filmy white eyes darting this way and that. Clothed in filthy rags, the nasty-looking little thing snarls and yelps as it clutches an oversized dagger with seemingly murderous intent. The one on the Joshua tree is drawing back a bow aimed at Hajar. MAP UPDATED.

Bartan moves up 15 feet, moving carefully between the brambles (he's not passing through a green square, so I'm not sure if he needs to make the check or not, but here it is with its reroll as well: Acrobatics: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17Acrobatics reroll: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10. <-Another point of damage if he did need to make the check
He then puts his hand on an open box of playing cards hanging from his belt, saying a quick incantation (Swift action to charge cards using his Arcane Pool, they are now considered +1 magical weapons), pulls a playing card from his belt (Free action to draw ammunition), and throws the card at the pugwampi in the tree!
Attack roll: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6Attack re-roll: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
Damage: 1d4 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5 Even though it doesn't matter now, this damage is assuming I'm within 30 feet of the Pugwampi to take advantage of Point Blank Shot.
WOW the dice really hate me right now! Two 1's in a row, then 1 on the damage roll as well! Yuck!
Anjali Nejem |
Anjali finally spots the pugwampi almost directly in front of her. Sidestepping to one side, she raises her crossbow, taking aim at the one holding the bow and fires.
Attack: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Attack: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 = 12
Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 1
Five foot step to the right. Bleh. I didn't have to do two rolls - I realized this AFTER I had already posted.

Hajar will draw his Falchion and move to threaten the pugwamp currently near the rogue. He will not attack first, to his allies he says We should capture them, and make them confess to Almah in order to clear Dashki's name.
Bartan Harrowborn |
Bartan shouts back "You go ahead and capture that one that's on the ground over there, but the one in the tree is probably out of our reach for capture!"
Bahram the rogue |
Bahram wipes the blood from his nose after finding the tree. cursing himself under his breath. he manages to didge a sudden dagger throw aimed for him and in return he fling his dagger back at the creature.
dagger ranged attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13

frig wrote into wrong thread. Well below are the rolls I got there before I deleted the post so pasting them here without new roll. I guess it's a miss. I acted before Avenka thinking she probably goes for the one on the ground. Ray of fire is ranged touch btw but I doubt it matters.
acrobatics: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18
ray of fire: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
damage: 1d6 ⇒ 1
Hajar nar Jundi |
Hajar snarls at the arrow and grits his teeth. Ste test moje potrpljenje bitje. Predajte se zdaj ali se soočajo gotovo smrt.
Does Hajar notice if the creatures even understand him?
From here on out Hajar will be using AoO's if possible and dealing nonlethal.
Hajar moves to threaten the pug on the ground. He holds his blows for one more round.
Hajar nar Jundi |
GM, the pug should probably have provoked an AoO if he moved after Hajar's first turn. My first turn's action was to draw a weapon and threaten his space, his moving and attacking would then provoke an AoO, unless he beat a Dc 15 Acrobatics check. Not a big deal because I wouldn't have taken the AoO, but just for future reference.
Hadassa |
Dhavyn's fire ray misses.
Pugwampis speak Gnoll and Terran, but they do not seem interested in communicating with Sarenrae Paladins just now.

Attack roll #2: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17
Damage if it hits (which I doubt) :

"Anybody got any Napalm?" Yazi will growl as she marches through the brush, shifting her sword over her shoulder she'll pull out a net as she gets as close to the pug as the brush will currently allow. Square F-7 please, iPhone won't let me interact with map :(

"Your luck has run out, you foul creature!"
Bartan uses Spell Combat, casting a spell first against the pugwampi in the tree.
Bartan's mouth opens, and he looks very much like he's screaming (though it's inaudible to any except the pugwampi in the tree). Casting ear-piercing scream:
Sonic damage: 1d6 ⇒ 3
DC 14 Fort save If failed, dazed for one round, if saved, half damage.
Next, he takes a 5-foot step toward the other pugwampi and smacks it with his quarterstaff.
staff attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5 reroll: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15 (+2 Strength, -2 for spell combat, +2 for flanking)
Whiff! The attack misses by a longshot!
Avenka Thalma |
"Let's see your face painted red!"
Avenka could rage but will wait for now, maybe there will be a greater menace later...
Attack with flail :
Attack roll #1(flanking included): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24
Attack roll #2(flanking included): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24

Ok question time: which ones are still around and which one did bahram hit with his dagger. The map shows one next to bahram, is that on the ground? or dead?
