Hadassa |

No Bahram, so...ROUND 8:)
ROUND 8
Kakooyapesh swings again, this time at Hajar.
nasty gnoll axe 1d20 + 9 - 2 ⇒ (3) + 9 - 2 = 10 for 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
and bites! 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7 for 1d4 ⇒ 1
I remembered Doom Anjali!
--------------------
Monsters 23; Doomed; -26hp
----------------------

Bartan Harrowborn |

Bartan moves forward a few steps and targets the ugly dog-man with a card.
Card toss: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23
Unluck: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25
Damage: 1d4 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
"Irez blesses me with a lucky throw!"
Take that, unluck aura!

![]() |

Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25
GRRRRRAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!
"Will you die already?!?!" Yazi punctuates each of her missed swings and glancing blows at the Gnoll with annoyed growls and gritted teeth.

Khayal Bin Haleen |

If able to 5ft step into flanking he will.
Khayal determined to kill this gnoll, slashes with his Kukris.
Kukri 1: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 71d4 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
Kukri 2: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 151d4 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
Kukri 1 Unluck: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11
Kukri 2 Unluck: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22
Add 2 to the attack rolls if now in flanking.

Dhavyn Barr |

Dhavyn moves next to Bartan and sends a fiery lance at the gnoll. He curses as it misses and echoes Yazi's sentiment: "Why won't that blasted creature die already!"
Ray of Fire: 1d20 + 2 - 4 ⇒ (10) + 2 - 4 = 8
Ray of fire (unluck): 1d20 + 2 - 4 ⇒ (13) + 2 - 4 = 11
Dang you Bartan for blocking the line of effect. I presume I take the -4 since I'm shooting into melee without precise shot.

Anjali Nejem |

Anjali tentatively steps up to a spot behind Hajar. She touches his back, reciting the words to give him some guidance in her tongue of flame.
Cast Guidance on Hajar, +1 competence bonus on a single attack roll, saving throw, or skill check. He must choose to use the bonus before making the roll to which it applies. Duration, 1 minute or until discharged.

Hajar nar Jundi |

Hajar, feeling bolstered by his allies takes another swing at the Gnoll.
Falchion, 2H, PA: 1d20 + 4 + 3 + 2 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 4 + 3 + 2 + 2 + 1 = 15
Falchion, 2H, PA: 1d20 + 4 + 3 + 2 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 4 + 3 + 2 + 2 + 1 = 22
Damage: 2d4 + 8 ⇒ (4, 1) + 8 = 13
Bonuses include, smiting, flanking, aid another, guidance

Kuralaak |

That is good enough.
Combat Over.
Severely wounded by the constant barage of his surrounding foes, the Gnoll takes a knee. It breaths heavily, propping itself up by it's axe it says in broken common: I cannot win. But I will not beg. The half dead pugwampis on his belt begin to whimper and cry.
Kakooyapesh has no more fight left. 2HP. coup de gris available.

Bartan Harrowborn |

"I would let the cards decide this creature's fate." Bartan says, pulling a card from his harrow deck, his quarterstaff leveled at the gnoll's head threateningly.
Card: 1d54 ⇒ 37 <- The Winged Serpent (Lawful Good, Wisdom)
"The Winged Serpent is the embodiment of knowledge and prudence bridged by understanding. I must understand more about this creature before I know what the fates require of it."
To the gnoll: "Who do you serve, gnoll? Will your pride allow you to leave this place in defeat, or will your master punish you for your surrender?"

Hajar nar Jundi |

Hajar nods at Bartan and watches the defeated Gnoll for a moment before disarming him.
In Gnollish he repeats Bartan's questions
Koga služijo, gnoll? Bo tvoj ponos vam omogočajo, da zapusti ta kraj v porazu, ali pa bo tvoj gospodar kaznoval za svojo predajo?

Kuralaak |

In Gnoll, Kakooyapesh responds with a strange chuckling sound.
Ha, this is my favorite part of RPGs. The RPing:)

Bartan Harrowborn |

Bartan looks to his teammates for guidance. "I do not wish to destroy this creature, but I also do not want him to seek retribution on us later. What do you think, mes amies?"

Anjali Nejem |

Anjali shakes her head, her upper lip curling in disgust at the creature. "Gnolls are a murderous lot. You saw the wounds it inflicted on Khayal and Hajar with its axe. I will sleep better knowing there is one less gnoll upon the sands. I say give this...thing what it wishes!" Her grip on her crossbow tightens, emphasizing her point.

Kuralaak |

One of the pugwampis on Kakooyapesh's belt sighs and dies. Kakooyapesh looks at it, lifts it's head, and lets it dead-flop back down. Common: They do not last long once you tie them to the belt. heee hee heeee. But they love it! They think it great sacrifice. We gnolls are gods to the pugwampis. He does not seem concerned at Anjali's crossbow. Kakooyapesh is one hard @ss mo-fo fo sho.

Bahram the rogue |

sorry need to catch up and sorry I just read a little. deleting the post. I thought he was still fighting considering he was talking.
man I didn't realize what i missed, i had no indication of new posts...I am really sorry about that...

Bartan Harrowborn |

sorry need to catch up and sorry I just read a little. deleting the post. I thought he was still fighting considering he was talking.
man I didn't realize what i missed, i had no indication of new posts...I am really sorry about that...
It's all good, you can help us choose what to do with the bastard. LOL

Hajar nar Jundi |

Hajar does not put away his weapon. He says I have some strong rope in my pack, we will bring this one with us. The Lady shows him favor, even if he does not return it. In gnollish Hajar says Ti si moj ujetnik in moj ujetnik. Če boste poskušali pobegniti ali škoduje vaše življenje izgubi. Ali se strinjate s temi pogoji?

Bartan Harrowborn |

"I wish not to cause strife with my fellows, but I agree with monsieur Hajar. This creature should be our prisoner. If he attempts to flee or attack us, he will be choosing his own fate."
Turning to Anjali, Bartan bows. "Mon chere, I know you are unhappy with this decision, but I believe that both the Dawnflower and lady Irez have plans for this creature that we cannot currently fathom. Otherwise, his life would already have ended at our hands."

Hajar nar Jundi |

Hajar acknowledges Anjali Indeed Mistress, he did attempt to cause harm to us. We shall show him the error of his ways, or we will separate his head from his body. He will also serve as a source of information.
To Kakooyapesh Hajar says Kaj mi lahko poveste o nadaljevanju tega samostana? Kaj njenih zemljanom?
What can you tell me of the rest of this monastery? What of its denizens?

Bahram the rogue |

Bahram says nothing. he hides his feelings from everyone. but he does stay close to the gnoll, his hand on the hilt of his sword.
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15
Bahram is anxious to kill thin gnoll, but he is also hesitant, not wanting to upset others in the group.
though he has never said anything nor has he shown it, he does seem to understand when people speak the gnoll's native language

Khayal Bin Haleen |

Khayal keeps his kukris in hand, he listens to what the gnoll has to say. He is not sure what should be done with this creature, he finds himself looking around making sure no one sneaks up on his friends while they decide his fate.
perception: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

Anjali Nejem |

Anjali gives both Hajar and Bartan a flinty stare and shoulders past the latter. "I will be outside in case these are others out there like this pile of camel dung you are all so quick to spare."
Heading towards the door they came through, Anjali mutters to herself in her native Kelish.
"Taking another mouth to feed when there is so little to be had in this land? May sand fleas infest their bedrolls for their foolishness!"
She decides that her time is better spent making sure no one else is prowling the monastery grounds.
Perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11

![]() |

Although seemingly nonplussed with the current plan for the Gnoll Yazi will voice no opinion one way or other about it. As they talk though she will attempt to take the Axe away from the prisoner, as well as search him for any other weapons or items of note.
Perception: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (10) + 13 = 23
Perception: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (9) + 13 = 22

Dhavyn Barr |

"I am not terribly fond of the idea of letting that thing run around and the princess did ask us to clear the Monastery... and what of those things on his belt? Should we release them? More of them are surely going to die soon." He pauses to stroke his beard thoughtfully before continuing.
"Still I think we all need to return to the camp so might as well drag him along for now. I do not trust that thing enough to leave it behind and Khayal doesn't look too well even after all the healing he received. Let the princess make the judgment while Khayal recovers I say."
...and I have expended too much power today he adds to himself.

Hajar nar Jundi |

Hajar arches an eyebrow at Dhavyn. We should not leave so soon. We have only just arrived.
He gestures to Kakooyapesh Sprostite te uboge bitja okoli vašega pasu. Če sledite nam morajo umreti.

Bahram the rogue |

BAhram listening to the debate, makes his own decision.
pulling his rapier he runs the gnoll through, killing it.
debate over, lets move

Hajar nar Jundi |

Um no. Hajar would not allow that to happen. We can roll some inititative if you want.

Hadassa |

Bahram, coup de grace is a full round action and provokes attack of opportunity. The AoA gets resolved before the coup de grace is delivered. In this case, to facilitate the game, I'm going to say that any other player who wishes to stop this action can attempt to do so now with a single melee attack roll vs Brahman's flat footed AC. If successful, the narrative would be something like "as brahman's rapier speeds toward the Gnoll, XYZ characters deflects it just at the last second." If the AoA attacks fail, the Gnoll dies. I took the map down, so assume that anyone who was in a square threatened by the Gnoll may make this AoA attack roll if they wish.

Bartan Harrowborn |

While Bartan does not wish to kill the gnoll himself, he would not attempt to stop Bahram from doing so. I think Hajar and possibly Yazi will be the only ones who will attempt to directly stop him.

Hajar nar Jundi |

Hajar's Attempt to block: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6 Guess it is not in the cards for the captive.

Bartan Harrowborn |

"My friends, let us not fight! This creature is not worth our friendships, no?"
Bartan emplores his fellow adventurers not to bicker, and offers to help tie up the gnoll.

Hadassa |

While diciding what to do with the filthy Gnoll you find it's time to explore the monestary a bit and search out the rest of it's denizens.
ENCOUNTER MAP UPDATED
Okay, you can explore the monastery a bit now. Exploration is notoriously difficult in pbp. But what I've done here is reveal some of the map and it's key. It contains all the skill checks specifically mentioned in the AP for your Roleplaying pleasure. Whatever your character does, assume all the other characters are in the room with you and can respond, help, ect. Unless you specifically say go off alone of course! Point is, time can be a looser concept in pbp exploration. When you guys are done with this area we will reveal more of the map. And if anyone knows a better way to handle exploration in pbp i'm all ears!
Knowledge(local) for the Mountain
knowledge(religion) for the bearded figure
Perception for a secret
A crude stone stele that seems to have been erected more recently than the abandonment of the monastery stands here as well. Its graven inscription reads: “A ghost of unholy mien was purged from this place by Theodephus Estrovan, servant of Aroden, 4691 ar.”
Knowledge (religion) for the 5 figures
Knowledge (history) for the sculpture
Knowledge(religion) for the entity

Bartan Harrowborn |

After helping whoever tie up the gnoll, Bartan heads toward the back of the large A1 room and looks into A1a.
"Hmm, interesting statues. If only I knew more about the area nearby, I might be able to tell you what this signifies."
No ranks in Kn. [local] or [religion], so not very useful in here!

Hajar nar Jundi |

To assist us in exploring might I suggest we place our tokens on the overmap to indicate where we are?
Hajar ties the gnoll to his own waist and says Sledite za mano in dal nobenih težav, za ta želi tvojo smrt. Hajar indicates Bahram.
To Avenka Hajar will say Honored Friend Avenka, The Gnoll Kakooyapesh has surrendered and I have accepted his surrender honorably. He will serve us as a guide and source of information as we explore further. The Princess will decide his fate when we return to the Caravan. However if he proves troublesome, I suggest you kill him with some alacrity. Hajar bows slightly to the woman.
As he passes Yazi Hajar whispers I thank you most kind and beautiful Yazi, you are as wise as you are beautiful.

Hadassa |

Ah! A perfect opportunity for me to fix the fact that hardly anyone has trained know(religion) thanks, haha!
With Kakooyapesh as a guide, and assuming you RP asking him, you may make all knowledge checks in this monestary untrained. And if you are trained you receive a +2 bonus. Responses for this type of check will be delivered through Kakooyapesh based on your roll results.

Dhavyn Barr |

Dhavyn wanders around seemingly aimlessly but keeping an eye for trouble and anything interesting.
"I still think it is unwise to stay here with the camp so close. There could be nastier things here than the Gnoll. All I'm saying it might be a good idea to recover and return."
He pauses to admire the relief at A1a statue "Is this supposed to be the St. Vardishal?" he muses aloud before continuing his exploration towards the Altar.
Perception at A1a: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (13) + 0 = 13
"I wonder why this place was left abandoned. You would think the followers of Sarenrae would have been more interested in reclaiming it." He pokes the remains of the book but doesn't seem particularly interested in it and instead of that completes his route at the other chamber.
Perception at A2b: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (1) + 0 = 1
"At least the folks here had a good taste in art" he pokes the statue curiously. "Shame the places is in shambles. I wonder if the princess intends to restores it fully. She seems like the type."
Perception at A1b: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (11) + 0 = 11
Princess mentioned both St. Vardishal and Sarenrae. Edit: I don't mind exploring this way but I prefer sectioning that doesn't reveal as much of the plot. Basically each of us announces portions of the map they are going to explore and writes a rp blurp about it like I did. I generally use either a doorway or three sections as a splitter.
