Gertrart aka Blood Desecrator |
Gertart looks over the cauldron, cloak and potion. "I think this cauldron can be used to lure children into candied houses. Or soup. It might be good to make soup. The potion will not help Malleck, but the rest of us can use it to heal. I already have a cloak like this if anyone wants it. I don't have the right magic for the scroll. Xeram, will the book help you? I will take it if you do not."
spellcraft cauldron: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (5) + 12 = 17 (?dunno? :)
spellcraft cloak: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (14) + 12 = 26 resistance +1
spellcraft potion: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (7) + 12 = 19 cure light wounds

In which case, I have some interesting news for Xeram to relay.
It had been a while since anyone had seen Tacitus, who usually attends. Shortly afterwards, Father Donnagin sent one of his acolytes to check on Tacitus. His body was found smashed. The acolyte called for the guards, and the remaining Captain. When the guards were cleaning up the grizzly mess, they jostled the ice golem, which activated and started a killing spree. One of the acolytes and 5 guards were killed, and the Captain seriously wounded before the golem was subdued.

Malleck of Alerion |
"Gertrart. If the cloak is not taken, and does what you describe it does, i will take it." he nods. Things are going well so far.

-Mordecai- |
Mordecai takes the scroll, and casts a small cantrip to reveal the spell contained within. "This is a spell to dispel any magical effect already taking place" Dispel Magic
Vosil Comarenza |
Vosil looks around. "Well, that went tolerably well; are we still on to ambush the patrol tomorrow?"
Xeram |
As Xeram met with his fellow villains, he was well pleased after hearing a ruckuss had gone on.
"Well, i've heard the most entertaining news, which i'm sure you were responsible for, partially anyway.
It seems a stray golem smashed a certain wizard to death and also, when they came to subdue it, an acolyte of Father Donnigan, 5 guards and seriously injuring the guard captain."
He pauses briefly;
"In the meantime, the credibility of and faith in Father Donnigan should be adequately undermined. Some subtle lies work wonders in the minds of these peasants."
Vosil Comarenza |
Vosil laughs "Oh, that is splendid, I do approve! Without them even knowing they're under attack, we've taken out 2 captains, the wizard, and a handful of soldiers - and we're yet to reveal ourselves!"
He looks at Xeram. "Do you think we could credibly pretend that the good Father would commit suicide? If we just murder him, it would give the game away. Some scandal, perhaps, that's so shameful it would be believable that he did himself in? Or just ran away, I suppose; that would also work..."
Xeram |
Xeram shows a faint smile.
"Yes, i do believe we could arrange some scandal.
Among other lies, i spreading a rumor involving him threatening a burnt man, the circlet is useful indeed, as well as placing his sound of voice in compromising situations. How that will play out in the time to be, i cannot say, but doubt and distrust have their roots in the minds of the masses."
-Mordecai- |
Are there all the time people leaving and arriving to the city, so that we don't stand out when we go for the ambush? The planned ambush site was in walking distance, right?
Malleck of Alerion |
so cloak he takes? Good for him for now
Malleck grins
"I will help in destroying this so called cleric of Mitra. If things go well, i wish to get some information on the leader of this bastion"

Vosil Comarenza |
Don't split the party! Geez, it's even the title of a book now ;)
More seriously, let's do the patrol together and then do the cleric the day after.
Gertrart aka Blood Desecrator |
"Wonderful news Xeram. Off to rest for me, as tomorrow we go ambushing."
Gertrart aka Blood Desecrator |
"I will have to wait on the sabataging of the drawbridge, it was found and repaired to easily the last time. Do we want to leave town as Donnagin with a couple of young children scandily dressed?" Gertart asks his compatriots as we prepare to leave in the morning. I can pull off a pretty-convincing orc but a bugbear is probably pushing it too far. he muses.
Onward to ambush! (right?)
Malleck of Alerion |
ambush. I say someone scouts their route, we see where they camp and kill them while they sleep.

"I'm in. I'll lead."
Geography, but no survival
Vosil Comarenza |
+1 +1 +1 to night ambush - humans can't see in the dark...
-Mordecai- |
"If our intel is correct, they set their camp in Freeman's Rock. An attack by night suits me fine. Unfortunaly I am not the best sneak, but the darkness should cover our approach."
Grymp |
Alrighty then, so finding your way to Freeman's Rock is relatively easy. It's a well known camping spot with fine hunting, and a great view of Lake Tarik.
So then, as your group approaches Freeman's Rock, you spy a single campfire several hundred yards away. Quite easy to see in the dark on a clear night such as this.

Looking ahead: 1d20 ⇒ 1

Malleck of Alerion |
At least that 1 isn't an attack roll ;). Also. if we can get the horses, we can sell them later. I have a doesnt HA skill
Gertrart aka Blood Desecrator |
perc: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14
Is that a campfire?
-Mordecai- |
Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (7) + 9 = 16
"Can you see anything?" Mordecai whispers to the others.
Malleck of Alerion |
"Except for the fire? No"
Shade - Vosil's Eidolon |
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25
Shade sighs, in a motherly fashion. "Six men sleeping, one on watch, seven horses. Do you want me to... deal with the one on watch?"
There's a hopeful note to her voice: she's been banished to the Shadow Plane for aaaaages. She can't remember the last time she tasted warm blood...
Xeram |
"I could assist with that. The fabrication of a distracting sound could perhaps lure the lone guard away from the campfire. That gives ample opportunity for a silent ambush, providing you with a snack that doesn't alert the others.", Xeram says with a smile,
...has he employed such methods before?
Malleck of Alerion |
"I do not wish for the rest to be alerted. Is it possible to try and kill some before we make a move on the guard? If not, i will hold back till we have no choice but to engage them head on, i am not the kind of person to sneak about..."
Taeral |
"I can either cast a spell of sleep on the guard, or even cast a silence spell upon some of us," Taeral syas in a hushed tone.
Gertrart aka Blood Desecrator |
"Good idea let's do that." Sleep plus silence. "How close do you spellcasters need to be for your choicest spells?" No sense in pushing any closer than we have too. I can sneak in, maybe as well as Shade, but "If we take the guard out first, Malleck can walk into camp as him without having to sneak." He touches the circlet on his head and his clothes turn into drab grey and green splotches to match the night time forest.
When it's needed.stealth: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21
Gertrart aka Blood Desecrator |
"Go for it Xeram, Taeral. Make the magic make him sleep. Unless Malleck wants the silence first?" Gertart will try and be closer to the guard should the spells backfire. stealth or silence.
Taeral |
Taeral whispers to the group, "I will cast Silence on you Gertrart, for yourself and Malleck, it will last you 24 seconds, While you two move into position, Xeram and I will cast a Sleep spells each. So give us about 10 feet before you rush into the guard."
Malleck of Alerion |
Malleck nods. A grin now on his face as he readies his attack.
Readied action : charge
