I apologize for the absence. Between the festive weekend, horrible weather Monday, and spending a large amount of time at the doctors Tuesday (I'm fine, but now on several meds), I found my energy for games those days, well, sapped. Catching up now, will post ASAP.

Hmm, main issue with AoOs is that I always have the option of spending Inspiration, but it's a precious commodity I only spend when I really need to succeed, so it's hard to predict whether I will want to spend it in a given situation or not. Like... if the bandit had been running away to go attack Svetlana or Oleg, I might have actually spent Inspiration to make sure the AoO hit. It's so very situational though, especially when it's as expensive as it is to use. (Until I have more Inspiration in my Pool and can take the talent to reduce the cost to 1 point per use.)

Oh, Ankova definitely killed the bandit heading for the gate with the AoO. I believe she...yep, she also downed Happs. I'll throw up a "combat over" post in a moment or two. Happs and Daen's bandit are down, the shot bandit is unwilling to fight it out.
EDIT: Those attack and damage rolls you guys rolled, compared to my pathetic bandits. I mean, they're supposed to be pathetic, but still...

This looks like it's been an unusually rough patch for Maraia. If you'd like, I could have her channel once to heal the bandit so we can keep things moving forward. It's up to you all, though.

Yeah, I'd like to have her involved in some discussion about what to do next, but feel free to bot her until... you know, I don't know if her player is male or female.
I'm Oterisk, I'm a father of four that lives in Michigan. I've been roleplaying on and off since '97.
There, that feels better.
Yeah, just bot her for now.

Okay, I've rigged up a compass of sorts on the Stolen Lands map. when you're ready to leave Oleg's, lemme know which direction you'd like to set out in and I'll roll up encounters. On horseback, it takes 4 hours to cross a plains hex on horseback, so including camp setup and take-down, you'd be able to move two in a day if you pushed it. Exploring a plains hex takes a day on horseback. Everything is, of course, slower when you're on foot.

I'm not sure what to do about Maraia. I can't find any posts by her player or aliases since the 25th, and I haven't heard anything from him, which is concerning. However, he's had a busy month, I'm sure, between getting engaged, getting sick, and computer problems. I don't want to just cut him loose, but it's unfair to you guys to not have Maraia around, and it's difficult for me to Bot her because I have very little idea of how Aneiren wants her played.
I've got a couple of ideas on what to do.
1. I could look for other players and/or have you suggest someone to me.
2. We could open a recruitment.
3. I, or one of us, could bot her and hope she came back.
No matter what we did, I would prefer not to just kick her player out. I'm sure there's a reason things have been patchy, I'm just not sure what it is. I'm not sure what to do about it, and it's a hard decision to make, so I'm throwing this out here to see if anyone else has any ideas.

Well, we're out in the wilderness now. How about we bot her until we get back to the fort. Grabbing another player via invite sounds good to me, having to sort through thirty or so submissions for a slot or two is a bit of a hassle. Another option is to take a look at other Kingmaker recruitment threads and invite someone who wasn't chosen for their particular game. But that's really only if we ran out of people to ask to join up. Invited people can read through our posts and see if they'd want to join up, so they would know what they were getting into.
So I guess my vote is three and one.

It... Kind of isn't at the moment. The part of my brain allocated to character building is currently working overtime on my River-Tam-esque medium for a WotR recruitment. Plus, what you guys seems be lacking is a divine caster, which I don't play very often, which means I tend to umm and ahh for a while. Right now, a grouchy cleric of Erastil is coming to mind, but you already have an archer ranger and I don't want to step on any toes!
I'm being torn in a few different directions at once right now (yay, new job! yay, house hunting! yay, unhealthy obsession with the new Dragon Age game!) but I'm pretty fond of Kingmaker and can't pass up a chance to play it. Plus, I've played with three of the four of you before, and you're pretty swell people. Haven't played with Ankova/Mackenzie yet, though. Hiya!
So, if anyone can tell me what you're missing besides a divine caster, that could be a good place for me to start thinking.

We can get by with healing, if that's what you're worried about. Feel free to play anything you'd like. I know that doesn't help with decisions when you're currently invested in other things, so here's a few ideas.
We don't have a high Strength character. Barbarian would be fun, as would a pole arm user. Maybe some kind of shapeshifter would be cool, Druids, Feral Hunters, Dragon disciples are all on my good list.
We don't have a high Charisma Character. Sorcerer, Summoner, Bard, all would be useful.
Something that can do some battlefield control would be amazing as well. Druid or Summoner for summoning, polearms or nets and combat maneuvers are really fun too.
Bottom line, play whatever you want. We'll have a good time with whatever.

Hi!
Don't worry too much about healing. As long as we can all survive to book 2, I can make us a nice good supply of healing potions. And... just as a note, a high charisma character would probably be a shoo-in for the eventual position of Ruler, given that none of us have a high score in that category. But yeah, play whatever you like and I'm sure we'll make it work.

Well hi! I'm excited that you're joining us. I think you've got a lot of good options for a character. Adding on to what's been suggested, you could play a paladin or a skald. It would be interesting to have a raging musician as our Ruler lol. But really the best choice is whatever makes you happy. We can make any class work!

Sorry for the delay in getting back here. Working with kids can be a drain on your mental faculties. (Though I've made a friend in seven-year-old Max, who loves dinosaurs and hates Vegemite sandwiches.)
I'm kind of liking the idea of a paladin or skald. Skald because, as Laliytsa said, having a raging musician for a ruler is a hilarious idea (it'd be hard to avoid going full Manowar, though), paladin because I've never played one before. Gotta admit, it's the restrictions that make me shy away, as someone who loves playing chaotic good bards, but on the other hand, nothing like jumping way, way out of your comfort zone, eh?
I can finally divert my attention here, though. One thing you're likely to learn very quickly is that I can be a bit sporadic - I try to get on every day, but sometimes I simply can't post. (Those of you who've played with me before can probably put the pieces together when I go quiet for a while.)
But yes. Good. Brainstorming and playing around. Shall pitch concepts later. Still here.

No problems. It seems we're a little slow right now anyway.
I really like the Paladin idea, if anything because the rest of your group is dex based and the rage wouldn't help us all that much at all. I've got a friend playing a Paladin who is normally a CG or CN rogue. Sometimes it's a bit difficult for him, but I imagine in PBP it's a bit easier because you're not on the spot.
And how are Vegemite sandwiches? I've never had one although I've heard about them. Most things I've heard agree with Max.

Vegemite is polarising. You either love it or you hate it. I suppose that's due to the whole 'fermented wheat paste' thing. Me, I love the stuff. I enjoy Vegemite sandwiches on white bread (have done so since I was four), but it's even better on toasted rye, with grilled cheese on top.
If you ever get the chance, I recommend trying it. It's interesting stuff. The big thing to remember, though, is that you have to spread it thin. It has an overpowering taste, so if you slather it on like peanut butter, it's going to taste revolting.
Poor Max gets a Vegemite sandwich for lunch every day, because he hasn't told his mother he hates them. He bins his sandwich when the teacher isn't looking. We've tried telling him to leave them in his lunchbox, because then his mum will know he isn't eating them, but he keeps throwing them out instead. No wonder the kid's all knees and elbows.
I migh go paladin. I'll have a thorough read of the class, as I've never played one, and let ideas percolate throughout the day. For now, work beckons.

I love paladins, and have two and a half on the boards. One's a Swashbuckler Dex-adin, one's a sword-and-board TWFer, and one's an Oradin.
As far at the game's pacing goes, I don't think I can do much to speed it up. Laliytsa is in the midst of midterms, and Ankova has said something about her work being oppressive right now.

No, I'm just kidding, I wouldn't fall a paladin unless they really screwed up and/or wanted it for story purposes.
