Appearance, Personality & Background

Standing at 5'8" and weighing a light 102 pounds, Maraia is a beauty by even elf standards. Her deep red hair is worn in a long braid going to the small of her back. Her skin is of a slightly ruddy complexion, and her eyes appear an odd color of turqoise.
Maraia isn't sure how long she has been on her own, but she's survived through the years despite her condition. The glasses help a little, though not nearly enough to truly offset the damage to her eyes.
Ah, her eyes. They used to be a brilliant green. But her family had been ordered by Kyonin officials to go to the region the humans called 'the Stolen Lands' to help make an advance base, much like Hymbria. But a bandit ambush near Nystra ended that little power play and left Maraia an orphan.
Travelling the River Kingdoms an orphan, she wandered north to Restov. The assault had filled her with sorrow, and in her sadness her eyes lost much of their vision. She sees sharply in the dark, but not very far, it seems. Resorting to glasses from a human merchant after saving up the coin, she finds little change, but any change is good.
And in her grief, she soon learned she had a knack for things she previously did not know. Magic, and particularly healing magic, came readily to her. She wished that these powers had manifested as those bastards had slaughtered her family and forced her to play dead for a full day to make sure they didn't do anything uncouth to her.
The peoples of Restov were restless to her eyes. What felt like a simple passing of seasons she watched people age, get married, have kids, die. And now that the human house of Rogarvia has disappeared, Maraia can see the blades being sharpened even with her poor eyesight.
She needs out, because the first to be killed in any revolution are those seen as outsiders. And what luck would have, a job to leave the city! But to her sorrow, once more it is into those blasted River Kingdoms. Oh well, the past must be buried eventually...
