Dolgrym slowly gets to his feet, leaning on Basher. ”Did we beat that troll,” he whispers. He casts yet another curative spell on himself.

"Ummm. Yes, Gallant landed the final blow, but the half-orc is still alive. I think we need to leave and finish up tomorrow. We can take this man to the city guard and interrogate him then recover."
Gallant will stabilize the half-orc. "Hisss."
Dolgrym Sharpaxe |
”I am broken half to hell. Taking a break is probably a good idea. Do you all think we can secure any of these rooms so that nothing untowards will interrupt our rest?”
Sid Keelik |
"We could barricade a door or go back to town. It did not take us long to get here and between all the investigating this morning and fighting we have now done I'm exhausted. I think with the recent attack on the town and the missing boy there is a lot more going on here and I bet this man has answers."
Kohl Shadd |
Kohl regains conciousness as the healing liquid rushes down his throat. "My thanks, Sid." He slowly gets to his feet and sees to his other wounds.

"Who are these cretins? They are very well supplied. Their goods are worth a small fortune." He scratches his chin, twirling his goatee a bit. "If these are the ones who set up ..., they may have been working with someone else."
"I agree, Dolgrym. I could use a good night's rest myself. And, perhaps we can use this time to make sure we got all the useful information out of the innkeeper and his staff. But first, I've got a few questions for this orc-blood."
Kohl is clearly in favor of interrogation before anything else, but he will wait until the group is upstairs at least.
Sid Keelik |
"How are we going to wake the man? We don't have a lot of healing to spare. If we go back to town we can stock up on things like smelling salts, alchemist fire, scrolls and holy water that may help us continue our investigation.
There is also a box we did not break open which we could at least take with us until we can open it.
We have a crowbar now!"
Can one of the strong PCs take 20 to pry open the lockbox from here.
Daniel Penfold 357 |
Yeah, they can, the lockbox contains a potion of darkvision, a scroll of barkskin, a scroll of ghostbane dirge, a masterwork hand crossbow, 10 normal crossbow bolts, 10 cold iron bolts and 10 silver bolts.
The half-orc and the troll are both dead by the way
From the room to the west (h14) you hear a rattling noise
Dolgrym Sharpaxe |
When we take a break, we need to be sure we have claimed all the treasure and divided it up. That gets forgotten in PBP a lot, I have noticed.
Sid Keelik |
"Do we wait until morning here and wake this man up with a spell then continue on or do we bring him back to town interrogate him at the city gurads get more supplies?"
"I say we vote."
"I vote for the second option. We can lock up the door here to make sure creatures don't reentre. I think there maybe a conspiracy against the city that may be bigger than the missing child.
Kohl Shadd |
ha!
Kohl acknowledges the wisdom in getting out of the ruined church before doing anything else. "Fine. We can stick him in a cell. But we may wish to have someone keep an extra eye on him, lest something happen to him. If there is a conspiracy afoot, someone may decide he's a liability if left alive."
Dolgrym Sharpaxe |
”Yes. Keep him alive and find out what he knows and why he was consorting with trolls...”
Sid Keelik |
This is a longer post so we can push along little.
Are there any items people think we should buy as a group?
I was thinking holy water, smelling salts, alchemist fire (we have seen a lot of rats it can't be long until there is a swarm), start saving for a wand of cure light wounds or infernal healing.
If items are not claimed this weekend I will put then in the sell pile and turn them to gold with the GMs permission.
At the plague house
Sid will get the groups help to tie up the half orc. Toss him up on basher and return to town. He will get help baring the door to the plague hosue to prevent entry while away.
In town he will slip a little way away from the group and find a vender of alchemical items. "Excuse me sir I'm looking for some smelling salts?"
At Sid's house.
After aquireing what is needed we can go to Sid's house and begin the interrogation.
Dolgrym Sharpaxe |
”Why were you working with that awful troll? I don’t think either of you were smart enough to team up on your own. Is there someone else making you two combine your evil?”
Kohl Shadd |
Kohl laughs at the half-orcs response. "Good! Good, I like a bit of a challenge." He grins maliciously as he asks Sid to fill a couple of vials of acid for him. "You know, to grease the wheels a bit."

he isn't actually torturing the guy, just trying to scare him
Daniel Penfold 357 |
The Half Orc is terrified and starts talking
We were ordered to work with each other by Skreed. It was part of his plan, we had to hide out here while he tried to find the tomb for Grenseldek. Oh and we had to guard the prisoner and feed him, dunno why, there was plenty of good eating on him. He was looking a bit sickly the other day though
There was some watch captain sniffing round the other day. Skreed didn't like it so he went out last night and killed him. Then he went back to looking for the tomb. I think Grenseldek is getting impatient though, I think she's just going to attack the town.
Dolgrym Sharpaxe |
”And warn everyone else in the town who is strong enough to swing a sword!”
Zavier Vitoly |
Did someone say STRONG?!
The group turns to see a very large human who apparently overheard them. He's got a bushy beard and is wearing the rough and ready armor of an adventurer. The only weapons he seems to have though is a set of javelins strapped to his back.
If is a STRONG MAN that you are seeking than be happy for you have found me. ZAVIER VITOLY. I have heard of the mighty Orcs of this place and I wish to test my might against them. But I have not found any yet.
Dolgrym Sharpaxe |
”Well, we certainly aren’t going to give the town up to the savages! We will defend it to our last, that’s for sure! We have one strong man who has volunteered to help....do we have any others?”
Daniel Penfold 357 |
As the sun sinks below the horizon the peaceful evening is shattered by the brazen calls of signal horns. Shouts and screams from the town's lower quarter join the clamour, followed by a crash as an airborne boulder smashes into one of the guard towers. Trunau is under attack!
a young boy runs up to Kurst and tells him that there is some trouble at the commons beacon, some of the townsfolk are trying to lynch Brinya. Kurst turns to you and says,
Can you deal with this?
Zavier Vitoly |
Hah! I will come with you and you can hide in Zavier's Shadow! Which is as almost as Mighty as Zavier himself! the human says, pleasure at the prospect of a fight evident in his booming voice.
Daniel Penfold 357 |
You move out into the town. The Commons beacon is one of the most important in Trunau. A lynch mob has formed around Brinya Kelver, led by a cleric of Abadar called Baseil Sabask. He riles up the crowd, who appear ready to burn Brinya alive.
"Long have we harboured these traitors in our midst. They claim they are half human but I say they are all Orc. There bestial nature totally subsumes their human side. They are against us as the attack that is coming proves. She is here to let the enemy in. There is only one suitable penalty for such crimes, she must be burned alive."
Dolgrym Sharpaxe |
”You lot stop this right now! I’m dwarven.....I’ve hated orcs long before most of you knew what one was. But, this isn’t the way these things are handled. If you have no proof, we aren’t going to let you string her up!”
Kohl Shadd |
Kohl murmurs a brief spell as they near the throng. "FOOLS!" Kohl roars. "Enemies are ready to tear down the town at any moment and you seek to do their work for them! We need every arm we can get!"
