The Anyweaponizer
Learning early on that there are no two weapons alike on Pandora and that each weapon is heavily customized you figure versatility trumps specialization. You are always ready to discard your weapon for the next "big shiny." The penalty for using a weapon you are not proficient with is 2 less than normal. Using any weapon you are unproficient with grants you +1 to hit.
The idea with this one is you could stack it with the quick learner trait and use whatever the GM throws at you and you fancy the most at any given time. It would cost you both traits and you still wouldnt be proficient with it but could still be fun.
Big Eight Big Wig
You are or were at one point a big wig for one of the 8 weapons manufactureres on pandora. Chose a company, you get +2 trait bonus to any bluff, diplomacy or intimidate checks when dealing with your company but you also suffer a -2 penalty to dealing with other companys. This includes buying/selling weapons. You also start out with a masterwork weapon of your choice gifted from your company.
Bandit Hunter
You have a reputation as a bandit killer. You earn a +3 trait bonus on Diplomacy when used to gather information, Knowledge (local), and Survival when used for tracking when related to an bandit quarry or other lawless humanoid unaffiliated with any settlement. Choose one os these as a class skill. Those same people have a +3 bonus on any roll to learn about you, as your fame precedes you.
Bad Bandit
You are particularly well known as a notorious bandit and have an easy time geting other bandits to like you or follow you. Improve the starting attitudes of bandits and other lawless humanoids unaffiliated with any settlement by 1 stage. Sadly this renown also has its drawbacks, as you are hated by the local populace. Reduce the starting attitudes of anyone living in a settlement or affiliated with a settlement by 1 stage.
What do you think?

@DM. I can't seem to find anything against it so I'm wondering what you reckon. Trying to see how far I can push this natural attack build. Sharpclaws gives 2 claw attacks and Aspect of the beast:Claws of the beast from natural weapon ranger gives 2 claw attacks.
If I put sharpclaw on my front feet and claws of the beast on back feet, this should work right? Total of 6 natural attacks :D I suggest it because it would actually make sense for a rat to have claws on all feet, and not just only crazy power grabbing.
As such I wouldn't ask for the upgraded race stat bonus.

Asterion pouncer
That last one is an asterion, but it is ment to show the value of rhino hide in conjunction with multiple attacks, something you can get in spades if you wanted, I think 11-13 or so? Also note that some of the info is... old. So take that with a grain of salt :)

Wow great posts guys! Sorry I have been job hunting and crashing early for the past few days. The traits so far look good, giving me lots of material to work with, I should have the final list of traits on Sunday.
Next task, we have races that the PCs are wanting, but are there any other races we should put in? Also if you created a new race develop their culture a little more.
We will be having vehicles, the scooters, armored transport, motorcycles, buggies, and a few more surprises. I suggest we have a new skill called *drive* a Dex skill, if you have profession driver it would give you a bonus to the drive skill. Catch a ride stations will be available but your first rides you will have to collect parts, and pay a nominal fee each time it is spawned.

Davachido |

The only way you can get pounce through race traits is through mixing 3.5 spell compendium, the spell like ability at will as well as taking at least 1 level of LA. I think it would be easier trying to get it from a class feature.
None of the base racials points give you pounce, there isn't any base race that has it either.

Lol I'm playing a goblin in the other PbP I'm doing, goblin alchys are fun! I think he's got close to 100d6 worth of implanted bombs inside himself and I am just waiting for something to kill him XD
Goblins. Are. Awesome.
I figured i'd play something a little more lawfull this time, I'm playing a claptrap!
I am having issues figuring out what class to actually play so far...
A few of the ideas I've had so far
A gunslinger/alchemist. Claptrap shooting guns and throwing gernades or shooting gernades with his gun! Except we already got a gunslinger and the dm said he wasn't a fan, and id like to stay within the guidelines so to speak :)
A bard/summoner or cleric. The cowardly claptrap hiding behind his comrades and inspiring them with his "dancing." Except I'm havng a hard time visualizing it mechanically in my head, and that kinda froze the idea.
A monk/unarmed fighter. I have a real hard time visualizing claptraps using weaponry, and seem to make so much more sense thematically to fight unarmed. Except someone else is doing that exact thing already :S
If anyone has any ideas I'm open and could use them!

Okay here we go, more development. Only thing I don't have for the Imkandi now are favoured class bonuses though to keep it simple I suggest giving them the same as humans or Ophiduans. I've listed the character sheet with the human bonus for now but that's subject to change.
I have left some bits to choose later depending on party makeup. Such as taking a fear power if people want a scary beast, or diplomacy power to help the face out.
Jack is a part of a hunter race that lives on Promethea. Known for their love of the hunt and nothing but they are prize amongst fighters for those that eventually kill them. Many of the Atlas Corps have hired them as assassins or trackers. They were easily recruited as they had little knowledge for the technology that was left behind in Promethea and the Atlas Corps just had to offer better hunts and more technology in far off places in the Galaxy. Jack has been left in Pandora for a reason unknown to him but as long as the fight is good he does not care.
Jack like many of his race was trained to hone his fighting skills and monstrous physique to peak performance. However Jack had something many of the other Imakandi revered. Jack used a device that imprinted itself to his mind, a very old piece of alien tech that has developed abilities that Imkandi would desire. This imprint gave Jack the ability to research and incorporate the creatures he hunts into his own body. This imprint also gives him the ability to change the world around with naught but the power of his mind. As befits his race he has been using this to take note of the best features of every creature he has ever hunted. Jack’s fighting techniques become powered by the strengths of these creatures. Always changing, ever shifting, it becomes hard to track how he fights because every time is different.
However the alien tech in his head is latent, it is waiting for a time to use him. The device has another purpose that Jack has no idea about and it’s motivations are unknown.
Darkvision: 2RP
Advanced template: 4RP, +2 to physical stats, +4 Int -2 Wis.
Bonus feat: 4RP, this feat must be chosen from the fighter list as long as the prerequisite is not fighter (unless you are a fighter of course).
Stalker: 1RP, Stealth and Perception are class skills.
Cat's luck: 1RP, may reroll reflex save once a day.
Fleet footed: 3RP, +2 Initiative and Run feat.
Total 15RP.
The Imakandi are catlike creatures with large lion manes and are very robust physical features. They are not the wisest for they use the alien artifacts without much thought of the ramifications, though the alien tech has absorbed into their race, allowing quicker thinking, strange tattoos, and the increased breadth of knowledge.
The Imakandi are a proud and honorable as well as skillful hunters, they are not a greedy race usually hunting creatures to survive as they hunt targets for the thrill of the hunt and never for money.
Imakandi move around Promethea in Nomadic tribes. Since the first discovery of alien tech they continually search for more tech to improve their hunting skills and abilities. Due to these capabilities they are warlike people though oddly enough do not fight others of their kind. Instead they perform hunting contests, when two tribes meet and they start to impress each other with loud shouts. They move onto dances where they show off their strength (think “Hakka”). Once this ritual has been performed the tribe leaders will agree on an animal or target to hunt and the contest is away. They may use any technique to hunt as long as it doesn’t impede the other team. The winning tribe’s leader takes a claw from the losing tribe’s leader. The tribe leader wears this pridefully, it might be on a pendant, it might be on their guns. Wherever it might be it can be easily seen so other tribes can see how powerful a tribe is.
All Imakandi are pushed to their limits every day, they need to proof themselves to their tribes as warriors. Everyone works for their fill, it might feel odd or very alien to other races but if you don’t hunt your own food, find your own water you die. Other Imakandi will not give each other food unless they were part of the same hunt. There are exceptions though, for example if an Imakandi is sick others will provide enough for him to survive. This exception strangely does not apply to age, there are few old Imkandi as they become weak and can no longer hunter. The few that are old and are capable survive into their elder years, usually the greatest hunters or leaders.
Imakandi are often not adept in social situations as they are plain creatures. Imakandi aren’t trained to lie or don’t even think to do so. This has put them into many bad situations in their own history. As alien races trick them into doing things that they would not do otherwise. Since the Imkandi are sincere the alien races exploited them to know that the aliens would get the better end of the deal.
Even now the Atlas Corporation has tricked many Imkandi into joining their cause as The Atlas Corps has been able to reverse engineer more of the tech than the Imkandi ever dreamed off. The Atlas Corps has persuaded many of the Imkandi to become their Guinea Pigs as most of the time they are accustomed to use this tech. Any other race can look in between the lies and see the proud race has become nothing more than glorified lab rats. Many Imkandi have died in failed experiments, the Atlas Corps returning heroic tales to their tribes so that more will join them.

So I had an idea of what to go, a human monk of the sacred mountian/unbreakable fighter!
I would have 10 feats at level 2! I would be a centapede ;)
Seriously tho, I had come up with a decent idea that I could invision. A claptrap MoMS ki mystic/unarmed fighter, take the panther and snake styles and aim for many AoOs.
Then I realized that was almost identical to Rigor Rictus ↑^↑ He is MoMS ki mystic/brawler, fights unarmed, good dex and good wis (and great str!), we would both have combat reflexes, we are even both from Pandora!
But there are still some key differences that make for some wildly different playing styles, he is large, I am small. His base damage starts twice as strong as mine and he makes great use of it while I would be a dex fighter focusing on many AoOs with panther/snake styles. He would be charging in and swinging away (his damage is going to be seriously hidieous at level 3 :P) while I will rarely full attack, and almost never charge.
So what do you think? Doable or to close?
If not i think I am going gunslinger >.>

Rigor Rictus |

The fighting styles are very different, and you make a pretty good assessment of how York will operate. He will be very much a brute force fighter. He has Combat Reflexes primarily to be able to take advantage of his reach. Anytime anyone moves near him, or tries to close in with him, or charge... all provoke AoO's. He uses dragon style for the 1.5 damage and charging ability, and will probably branch into Boar style, or another brute force form when he gets the feats to do so.
Don't think his style will be too cramped by what you're doing in combat. Out of combat our skills may overlap a fair bit. All in all, I don't mind, but it's up to you.
In the grand scheme, you're a one wheeled bot, and I'm a giant; we shouldn't have too much trouble differentiating ourselves.

Alright then Ill get a build up here real quick, another thing I notice is your stats are all going to be way higher than mine ↑^↑
Ill try to keep the out of combat skills as different as I can and I should also take quiggong monk as well as to further differentiate us a bit later on.How many people do we have playing in this total? Also, do we have ANY magic casters?

Gobo Horde |

Realizing I can adjust my stats a bit, I figure it would be prudent to do so :)
14- 17 Wis
13- 10 Int
11-8 Cha
10- Drop this
15- 18 Dex
11- 10 Str
13- 14 Con
Looking back, my stats really were crummy... After mucking with them, I went from a 20pb up to a 35pb. A whole 75% increase!!!
New Stats with racials
Str: 8
Dex: 20
Con: 14 Ouch X)
Wis: 17
Int: 12
Cha: 8
Alright I think the only way to make this sucker work would be to ask for a boon :) Since I am going to try and build a dex fighter, I plan on taking weapon finesse at first level.
My question: Could I please have something akin to a AOMF: agile off of the start, even if I get nothing else, not even wealth if only I can have that. Otherwise I am going to be doing a grand total of 1d4 +1 damage a hit XD
Looking at Yorks page again, my predictions is he will be doing 1d8+18 damage a hit for his first hit at level 3, 20 if he takes weapon specialization :) You go big guy! PS you also got a whole 19 stat points higher than me :}

Gobo Horde |

Haha ya probably not, but if not, honestly I will most likely just go gunslinger and feel like I can do something :P

Davachido |

I think we are ending up with quite a fight heavy bunch, which is good as this is Pandora. Lots of monsters everywhere out to eat us, and bandits to steal from us. I'll eventually be wielding Gargantuan sized weapons so should be fun to attack people with swords the size of trees.
@Rigor: Also since I will likely need things that have ranks as well (I am still mixing up 3.5 and pathfinder at times), do you qualify for Dragon Style as it needs 3 ranks of acrobatics? As in normally I know master of many forms you don't need the pre-reqs. Does the bonus +3 from class count as ranks? I don't actually remember if it's a class bonus or ranks in pathfinder. Would be good to know as the prestige class I want to go into requires 5 ranks of two skills.

Johnny Luckseed |

Gobo you shoulda just kept those first stat rolls and not felt bad about it lol.. My guy is deff not a fighter, but fighter types need buffs and heals and that what he does so.. And he can drive anything uner the sun :) and he disables traps and such.. Nice support guy imo..
Wait so 2 people are going unarmed fighter/monk? Come on now gestalt parties become beastly for their diversity and the ability to have whats needed for any situation..

Gobo Horde |

In 3.x it was total skill points while in pathfinder it is actual skill points invested, so a lvl 2 character could have a max of 2. If you want a 3.x prestige, a good rule of thumb is to reduce the requirements by 3.
Ya I think I will change over to gunglinger in the end here :) as for my stats, they are not nearly as bad, I was able to bump them up to a 35pb, a lot closer to 'average' power levels :) besides, who ever heard of a claptrap physical exemplar?

Rigor Rictus |

Gobo, you must be seeing something I was missing, as I didn't think I'd be able to get my damage quite that high...
He has 1d8 damage from being a large level 2 monk, increasing to 2d6 at level 4. Dragon style gives him 1.5 strength on his first hit, and that expands to 1.5 on every hit via Dragon Ferocity. At Level three he gets +3 to damage via Close Combatant (Brawler) which brings him to +13. If he took Power Attack he could raise that to +15. At fourth he'll have 1d10, and he can then take Weapon Specialization for 2d6+17. Where are you getting the other bonuses? I'd like to know. since brute force is likely to be his thing.
Johnny's got a point that Gestalt is usually a lot more diverse. Regardless of what you end up going with, I'd second the motion to go with your first rolled set. You don't see sets like that very often, you might as well go with it. As well, if you are going with a Gunslinger, it's not going to make him that much more effective, though it might allow him to branch into something usually pretty MAD for his second class, like a full caster, or Spellslinger?

Rigor Rictus |

Davichido, yes, York was only able to take those feats as Monk Bonus feats, as he would not have sufficient ranks otherwise. The same reason he doesn't have another style feat yet, as most of the feats require at least 3-5 ranks to take with a regular feat.
The rule for Pathfinder feats is that only the ranks count, not the class skill bonus. If it is a 3.X feat or prestige class however, you subtract 3 from the required number of ranks to determine how many you need to qualify for it when it has been converted to Pathfinder.

Davachido |

@Rigor and Gobo: Okay cool thanks, which means the earliest I can prestige into that class is level 5 which sounds alright.
@Johnny: I have a decent amount of spellcasting and int skills similar to a wizard so I should bring utility and melee/ranged combat depending on the day. I think we have a cleric/witch and an alchemist as well. So as much as we will kill things fast I think we do have breadth of ability floating about.

Seribro |
Hi there! Is there room for one more rookie?
New on the forum, fairly new to pathfinder and definantely new to some of the stuff/rules/concepts I just read across, but NOT new to PbP and good enough a builder to keep up with the rest.
I was thinking rogue/something, to be the sneacky scout and flanking buddy of the party. would that be any help?
5d6 ⇒ (5, 2, 6, 5, 2) = 20= 16 +2 = 18
5d6 ⇒ (6, 5, 5, 4, 2) = 22= 16
5d6 ⇒ (6, 5, 6, 6, 4) = 27= 18
5d6 ⇒ (5, 2, 1, 6, 2) = 16= 13 -2 = 11
5d6 ⇒ (2, 3, 2, 2, 3) = 12= 8 = drop that one...
5d6 ⇒ (1, 2, 5, 3, 1) = 12= 10
5d6 ⇒ (3, 2, 5, 2, 2) = 14= 10
18, 18, 16, 11, 10, 10 not a bad throw at all
If there is no place here for me, then tell me and I'll bugger of (or contact the nearest space station to have you outlaws arrested ;))

Gobo Horde |

For york.
Base damage= 1d8
BAB 3, close combatiant 3, str 14. Your strength mod is +7, dragon style gives you +1/2 and ferocity gives you +1/2 for an additional 7. Ferocity gives you the bonus to all unarmed strikes, even your first one so that one is at double strength mod. If you charge its at +2 :)
As for the gunslinger, it is quite single stat dependant if you are willing to live with only 1 grit point and the base damage of the guns is a bit higher making an easier first few levels especially if you manage to snag a double pistol.

Gobo Horde |

Alright I have chosen! I am going to play a bard/alchemist (archivist/mindchemist)!
My focus will be on knowledge skills, intelligence in general, grenades (bombs), buffing allies, trap disposal and probably a party face. I will be a warden, the first claptrap you meet going into whatever town we start in (think of the one in borderlands) and from then on will decide/get forced to join the party and follow them.
That way it doesnt step on peoples toes as far as I can tell, sticks with basic material, and no gunslingers :)
Ill whip something up here right away!

GM Wolf |

Blathe Snyder - pistol & pick fighter
York - monk
Claptrap - bard alchemist
Johnny Luckseed - halfling bard cleric
Jijaa Redtail - rat folk rogue
F5174- Druid witch slightly psionic
Seribro - welcome we shall see... Ratfolk Rogue sorcerer or wizard?
Who has the Siren? Where is the warlock?
Then there is my rat folk, 'mechanic' artificer wizard, just call him 'Five'
I think the two bards will do nicely, the claptrap bard will be needing a repair from the crash, so he will sing horrible basically uninspiring the enemies.
Sorry guys I am not going to be able to finish anything tonight we will see how much I get done tomorrow

Gobo Horde |

AOMF stands for amulet of mighty fists, basically letting me use dex for damage instead of str.
Didnt realize about only 1 stat, will fix that XD
Rigor had the warlock, he chose against it and went monk/fighter instead. His name is York (makes me think of Yoric from LOL)
GM Arkwrite is going the siren
we have 2 ratfolk, except one is wizard, the other is flanking sneak attacker
I think I am going to give up on playing a claptrap <:( Everything I have tried to build with him has pretty much fallen through and if I was going to play a claptrap it would have to fit the image I have in my mind or there is no point.
I also think I am going to swap back over to the stats I had at the start like some have suggested and build something big, mean and melee, Sorry guys!
Ill get something new up here right away

Gobo Horde |

Alright so my next idea is to play a hobgoblin cavalier since we dont have a mounted character yet and borderlands tends to be at least mostly open aired.
But I have a question if I do go with this, can I take both the fell rider and the beast rider archetypes? they both alter the mount ability but fell rider only gives it +2 str for -2 dex.
I understand that RAW you cannot, but what do you think? The idea is that as he gets further along on his journey he starts acquiring bigger and more brutal mounts (instead of riding a horse the whole time, kinda lame :P)

Gobo Horde |

probably just missed.
Goblins can also grab the colour thief trait for +2 more stealth. Goblins are crazy sneaky, they start at +10 stealth before adding anything, even skill ranks.
Thinking about that hob cavalier, I figure I could get something like 22 to intimidate, ability to intimidate in an aoe buff as a standard action that frightens opponents all at level 2! at level 4 I would get 5+ or so to intimidate :) I can also take feats that let me intimidate my allies!
