As the first Rakk comes down Jack takes a hefty swing at it.

Since I've not had time to attack defensively, normal swing. AC 17 currently.

Jack hopes that initial hit takes down the Rakk. Jack then weathers at least a single attack from the other, him not being quick enough to attack the both of them as they reach him. He then fights defensively attacking the second one.

does the raven fly of? I mentioned its name, then spoke some words which it should see as a message, and the last sentence had "go tell Five", so even if it is not all intentional I do believe I filled out the complete procedure. I think.


Jack slices the first rakk in half, the other one gets into range and does a double attack with its talons and fly-bys.
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23 talon attack, 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2 damage.
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11 talon attack, 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4 damage.

As the Rakk comes back for another fly-by, two more rakks are coming in at this point. So a total of 3 rakks are diving to attack you.

Balthe, Jack, and Elo are up on top. Ida is just 10 feet below the cliff edge. Jack and Balthe both get a round to prepare before attacked.

During this Five sends his silver raven back down to the goblin.

The first two rakks attack Jack and the third goes after Balthe. They dive down and do fly-by attacks. Provoking Jack. They fly off and begin to circle around.

Jack takes a gouging on his shoulder, though Balthe takes the brunt of the talons on his head. Now as they fly off, you can retaliate.
Blathe's shots seem to bounce off the rakk's tough hide.

As they fly off the first time Jack readies an attack against the first one to get into reach. The previous attack from them doesn't seem to have phased him much. As the pair swoop down on him his first attack comes up then he swings back down as the opportunity arose.

The first swing cleaves the Rakk in two while the downswing falls short and it gets a pair of talon attacks on Jack causing him to draw blood for the first time this fight. As it flies off he unleashes his full flurry at the one he missed the first time. Not worrying about the rope now that he has more friends to help defend it.

Swift blinks his eyes for a moment. Where did he end up? Good question. He had assumed he had simply landed in the river or something but he wasn't quiet sure. He looked about and answered then.
"I dunno, floating above the river it seems. There's rocks but you can see that f..."
Oh, he forgot. It wasn't the bird that asked him that question it was the person that send the bird who asked the question. Bird was just the messenger. It had rules or something. Its name first he believed, so that the bird knew you were talking to him.
"Purple Fixen," then came the message. "Tell him I am floating above the river, in some kind of magical stream. I see the cliffs on both sides, but with purplish mosses on it. There's some strange fishies here too, seems like they swim in the air, but theys really just floatin'in the magic stream too. I am floating... Northward, sun at my back it seems. All I did was believe real hard that the riddle was true and that the protectors would somehow catch me and all would be okay. Forget the ropes and safety stuff, only blind faith can save your butt."

Once the bird is back, Five nods to the bird and jumps off. Using a psychic burst to send a message to Ida reconnecting the telepathic bond.

Swifty raises his eyebrows. If memory served him, he had been playing with the thought of offing this grey bozo just minutes ago. Or was that hours? Hard to say, the stream seemed to have some slightly intoxicating effect on him. What ever it was it was at least very relaxing. He smiled.

He felt something stroke his bare foot and looked. A fish was inspecting his toes to see if they were edible. Swiftstab kicked, but as soon as he pulled his foot back, the fish already jumped and swam away.
If he does see the rock, he moves out of the way...
Swiftstab shrugged and relaxed again.


The rakks have attacked, one is at Jacks feet. Two others fly off but soon turn around, each of you get another round before they will do their flyby attacks again.

Huh. I didn't notice, but I took two standard actions to add Jack to the collective, one while still climbing, and the other when I reached the top. Oh well. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Ida channels energy, once the rakks have left, healing Channel Energy: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4 damage to the four on the cliff, a total of 16 HPs healed. She directs 4 points of the healing to Jack, and the remaining 12 points of healing to Balthe.

Her Round 3 action will be to ready an action to manifest Disruptive Touch on a Rakk if it comes within reach of her, expending her psionic focus to do so.

Touch attack, if the action is triggered: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16

If that hits, then the Rakk must make a Fortitude save, DC 15, or be staggered for 3 rounds.

After the groups many attacks, in the two rounds, the two rakks join the first on the ground in pieces. A longsword and rapier drop with the rakks, as well as 13 gp, 8sp, and two bundles of $50.

We'd been talking about jumping before, but it was never thoroughly explained. Ida did, however, say "Now let's get going," so it's not entirely out of the question, though I don't doubt there would be questions.

Seriously that was close!!!
Once you save and almost hit the river after a 300 foot drop; you find yourself underwater. Swimming up to the other figures you come out of the water, slow moving river of some kind but it is very easy to float even in armor. Strange animals fly around, scurry around the trees, lots of fauna, and the water is multi hued let alone the filtering of the sun through the trees is like through a prism.

Swifty if you want to add anything about what you see or feel. Feel free to elaborate, actually anyone can.

You can see Swiftstab, and Five further down, but not much perhaps 100 feet.

Jack is confused at all the people jumping off, he tries to swipe after one of his friends but misses. He the jumps off himself after them trying his best to catch one, his idea he will grab a couple and then shapeshift grabbing a hold of the wall. Unknown to him something else is happening here. So as he falls.

He finds himself underwater. Jack is still bewildered at the sudden change in scenery. He could've sworn there was no river at the bottom of the chasm when he last checked. Jack focuses calming himself then rights himself under the water looking for the surface. He surfaces opening his mouth wide gasping for air.

His fur wet Jack wraps his tentacles around his body, it might not be skin tight but in the frigid water he wanted to keep as much warmth as he could. Jack's eyes scan the length of the river spotting the others that jumped off. He smacks his hand against the water trying to grab their attention, in a bit of a rage with a little worry in his voice he yells at them. "The hell was that?! What if there wasn't a river down here?! I commend the bravery but what is with this folly! I don't want to make a habit of all of you leaping into the maws of death for no reason!"

Balthe enjoys the calm of the water. So rarely in his life does he come across true calm. Then he breaks the surface and looks at Jack who is slapping the water and shouting.

Five gets out of the water first, there seems to be a steam or mist that blocks your view of him, Balthe and Five do not even see this mist. Balthe following Five out of the water...

Five kneels down at a chest of some kind with an intricate lock.

A bedroll with a comfy pillow, and a few extra silk blankets are nearby.

A few minutes later the mist passes, leaving an open glade on either side of the river. No sign of Balthe or Five.

Ancestors protect me. He dives into the water, not wanting to waste more of his resources on shape changing he decides just to swim normally.
