He stares in anticipation wondering what effect they will have.
Magic Missile: 3d4 + 3 ⇒ (3, 4, 2) + 3 = 12
”Come on. Come on.”

Game Master S |

Hack-it dives into the computer, and quickly discovers that she's not running any kind of program or using this system. The approaching robots aren't part of this system! Hum's shot is wide too boot.
Gig's spell never fails, and she grunts as the missiles strike.

Null-9 takes a different approach, jabbing at Dunklezahn before tumbling away!

Janzi tries to slow Null-9 down as he pulls another grenade out. DC 19 Will.

Hack-It |

Hack-It moves towards Null-9, punching in several commands into his wrist console. "You are going to stop, damnit!"
The ysoki points his hand, and the custom rig in his sleeve emits a short range EMP blast that washes over the android!
Overload (via Override). DC 18 Will save or be dazed for 1 round. If the target fails its saving throw by 10 or more, it is not dazed and you can dictate its actions for 1 round, though these actions can’t be obviously self-destructive
Hum simply flies into the room.

Game Master S |

Janzi tries the spell that saved his skin an hour ago: Will: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (18) + 10 = 28, but Null-9 easily resists. Still, he gets another grenade out...

Damage: 2d12 + 16 + 4 ⇒ (3, 5) + 16 + 4 = 28
Clip: 38/100 rounds.

Game Master S |

Most of Gig's missiles are stopped by the force field, but some go through. Booker continues to struggle to hit the cultist Android!
Null-9 gives an awful laugh of triumph. The quartet of robots gets to the force field and flies into the room. One of them is carrying a complex circuit board
Three of the robots open fire on the party, the one carrying to board moves to Null-9 as she tries to extricate herself:
Null-9 Acro: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (1) + 19 = 20, but she trips! AoO from Dunk!
Null-9 Acro: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (16) + 19 = 35, but gets past Booker.

Torin Janzi |

GM has to stop rolling double digits on every single saving throw sometime, right...?
Janzi moves over to try and cut off Null-9's escape -- though carefully leaving plenty of room for what he hopes will be a heroic maneuver by Dunk -- and tries another spell on the android. Cast hold person, DC 18 Will.

Game Master S |

Will: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (10) + 10 = 20 Eventually...

Game Master S |

Dunklezahn misses on the opening, but then hustles to catch up to her. When he does, he swings just as the bot delivers the control board. His ultrathin blade cleanly decapitates Null-9!
Instantly the augmented robots switch to hover mode and stop attacking!
For killing Null-9, leader of the Cult of the Devourer, the party earns 19,200 XP
With Null-9 stopped, the terrifying likelihood of a doomsday cult with a doomsday weapon is over!

Booker Broadshaw |

Booker cautiously saunters over to stand by Dunklezahn. He puts a hand on the bigger soldier's shoulder. "Some fine fightin' there," he says, looking down at his own weapon in disgust. He picks up the control board and holds it for Gig. "Here, see whatcha can make o' this. Hack-It find what you can on the consoles." He settles down to strip the android of valuables.
Some sweet art there, S.

Game Master S |

Booker is cold and efficient:
Hack-it doesn't find anything of interest on the control panel. It's mostly just maintenance. Gig confirms that if this board were returned to Controller Moon 1 where Osteth is stored, you might, just might, be able to put this whole thing to rest.

Booker Broadshaw |

Booker slides the armor over to Dunklezahn. "Here. The tensile reinforcement and energy absorbers on this beat what you've got on. Talk to Gig if'you want the spikes off." He picks up the force field generator and tosses it on top of the armor. "Take this too."
The rest he stows. He rises to a half-crouch, stops, reconsiders and bends down to examine the body of Null-9 one more time. Take 20 for 28. I am looking for the tauntaun treasure chest. Any hidden compartments in arms, legs, torso, etc.
If satisfied/disappointed, Booker grunts and stands up. "Let's clear the rest o' this place. Don't want any lurking cultists. After that, we dump the bodies in the core."
Recommend easternmost door.

Game Master S |

Booker is completely satisfied that he's got it all. With the threat handled, exploration should also be calm.

Booker Broadshaw |

Booker swaps out the x-gen gun for his artillery laser and fits it with an oversized battery. "C'mon," he grunts, and leads the way to the easternmost door down the hall. He checks the door for traps twice before opening it.
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12

Game Master S |

The eastern and western walls of this long room are lined with empty weapon racks, while the outlines of suits of armor can been seen inside of broken display cases along the northern and southern walls. The drawers of the two workbenches in the center of the chamber have been pulled out and their contents—empty cans of oil, tiny screws, and other bits of rusty metal—are scattered across the floor. A small compartment in the eastern wall hangs open.

Game Master S |

It appears that compartment is empty, but he does spot some other compartments that weren't so obvious at first. He begins opening them, and finds that this armory still has a lot to give up!
The first compartment contains five high-capacity kishalee batteries. The second holds a cluster of three temporal disruption grenades. The third contains five disruption grenades, the fourth contains a minor disruption pistol, and the fifth contains a major disruption pistol.

Game Master S |

Unfortunately the armor hasn't weathered the test of time well. It looks like they've recently been mostly looted for scrap parts.

Booker Broadshaw |

Booker gives the weapon racks, emptied workbenches, and assorted scattered materials a quick review. Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24
Assuming nothing:
Booker saunters back to the others and looks over the next door twice before opening it.
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14
Map updated.

Game Master S |

Booker moves on to the next door. There's a window in this one, so he peers in. Looking in on this room from the hallway, you can see that it is dark except for a small red light blinking on a standby control panel on the far wall. Not seeing any reason to stop, he opens the door.
Two clear surfaces covered in alien writing hang on the walls near the door of this chamber. A computer terminal stands on the opposite end of the room. The main features of the room are two opaque cylindrical fields of energy near the walls, each about ten feet in diameter.

Booker Broadshaw |

Booker grunts. "Any ideas?" he asks, standing in the doorway. He takes a very careful look before setting foot inside.
Looking particularly for evidence that this room has been disturbed at all, or for traps.
Take 20 Perception: 20 + 8 = 28

Torin Janzi |

Lots of ideas, Janzi says. Mostly centered around shooting these cultists into oblivion, but ideas nonetheless.
Janzi looks at the alien writing, hoping he can puzzle something out of it.
Culture: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (2) + 14 = 16 <.<

Game Master S |

Booker doesn't see anything to indicate insidiousness. Janzi can't puzzle it out either.

Gig Razorbyte |

Gig looks around scouring for loot. He also casts Detect Magic to see if you can pick up any auras in the area.
Perception: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (8) + 11 = 19

![]() |

Dunk starts checking out the armor, impressed with its make and construction. He takes off his ringwear and puts the new armor on, taking several moments to make the necessary adjustments to accommodate his larger form.
Once he's satisfied with the fit of the new armor, the grabs the rest of his gear and follows after Booker.

Hack-It |

"Ease up on your thrusters, Ace. I'm going," Hack-It says, deliberately walking slowly and casually to the console. He the works whatever magic needs to be worked to gain access and see what the terminal's purpose is.
Computers (if needed): 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (3) + 19 = 22

Gig Razorbyte |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

Gig jumps in and tries to take over accessing the console.
Computers: 1d20 + 21 ⇒ (14) + 21 = 35
"Make room for me! You still have gum all over your fingers!"

Hack-It |

"What? I don't! And anyhow it's your gum, so it's not me who's to blame," Hack-It counters, nonetheless letting Gig at the controls.

Game Master S |

Gig determines that the cylinders of energy are acting as stasis fields for two living creatures. He also detecta that the creatures are Large monstrous humanoids with bladelike arms....

Booker Broadshaw |

Booker grunts at this new information. "Let's leave 'em be then." He takes up a covering position by the door while the ysoki retreat from the room, then follows.
At the next door down the hall, Booker again looks it over twice before opening it.
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17

Game Master S |

Booker sees no reason not to go in, and touches the pad. Although it has the same triangular touch pad as other doors, the door to this chamber doesn’t open when the pad is touched. In fact, it blinks red instead...
Engineering check to open.

Gig Razorbyte |

"Excuse me, Booker. Maybe I can help you with that."
Gig's fingers move rapidly across the pad as he attempts to open it.
Engineering: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (7) + 20 = 27

Hack-It |

"No, it's like this Gig. You getting long in the whiskers buddy?"
Engineering: 1d20 + 21 ⇒ (10) + 21 = 31
