You also had bad luck with Oskar going down. If he had stayed up a round or two more, it would have gone a lot differently I think.

yeah, groups have like, A small character. Usually a rogue. Who would have been eaten.

Paizo really overestimates low level characters and doesn't get how fast the dice gods will get you dead.

Sovereign Court

I think it's more a case of not taking environments in encounters seriously. Often it's just uninteresting, but when its interesting its often not factored into the EL.

Either that or people are squeezing because of the low ceiling and a medium quadraped doesn't have a problem with that.

This is the case in at least a few other encounters, like a certain Kobold lair, where there are qualifying conditions for squeezing.

We may have also chained multiple encounters.

Best guess on my part is a Large Cat, because it's never gotten a trip attempt with its bite, and buffed with spells like Bull's Strength.

Dead Suns:

If you had gone left, you would have stumbled on the next with sleeping goblins, and you probably would have gotten a round of coup de grace in, reducing their numbers to half in one go.

As it was, the dogs start barking, roll perception till at least a few gobbos wake up. One gobbo gets kicked out of the next to go deal with the dogs. Then gobbo stumbles onto you and raises the alarm.
If perception checks had been bad all fight, they might not have woken up untill much much later.

M Large Canine Level 3 druid

might be one less point of damage because you're shrunked

[retired]

They're 6hp Goblins. We don't need CdG. We just need to *hit* them, Lol.

Sovereign Court

CdG is more likely to keep them down for wizzies :)

What do you mean "We" baldy?

Sovereign Court

Hey, Vitro's doing pretty well now that he's properly scaled for this area :)

Sovereign Court

Hmm. Now to choose some new spells...

I forget, how did we do HP? Roll it? Take half the die? None of the above?

M Large Canine Level 3 druid

We had an option to roll or take the average i think

In which case, I'm gonna take average. May I safely assume 5.5 rounds up to 6?

Sczarni

⚣ Outsider (Californian) Gestalt Commoner/Expert

Average is probably the safe bet, since we can utilize the Retraining options to increase our HP with enough time.

I think it's probably PFS average: half+1

M Large Canine Level 3 druid

well, half +.5 as there's no zero on the die.

I manage to roll it anyway but theres no zero...

And HERE is "Flurrying Grace", the custom feat Woran is letting me "playtest". It's also linked on my profile for future reference.

This puts my damage back on par with a regular strength-based Monk, but after a while if it seems like it's overpowering encounters I'm happy to replace it with something like Power Attack instead.

Feel free to comment if you have any thoughts, now or in the future. The basis for this feat is Two-Weapon Grace.

M Large Canine Level 3 druid

Assuming we loot the place and get out scott free

Justin is adding youthful appearance and unseen servant to his list

(he was trying to make a longer lasting reduce person and accidentally hit on that spell)

taking average for the die. We know how much the dice love me.

3rd level feat : Extra arcane reservoir. because..

Powerful Change (Su):

At 3rd level, the brown-fur transmuter learns to harness the power of her magic to empower her transmutations. Whenever the brown-fur transmuter casts a transmutation spell using one of her arcanist spell slots, she can expend 1 point from her arcane reservoir as a free action to bolster the spell. If the spell grants a bonus to an ability score, the bonus then increases by 2. If it grants a bonus to more than one ability score, only one of the ability scores gains this bonus. The brown-fur transmuter cannot expend more than 1 point from her arcane reservoir in this way.

This ability replaces the arcanist exploit gained at 3rd level.

Sczarni

⚣ Outsider (Californian) Gestalt Commoner/Expert

O.O

Dead Suns:

Its half + 1 for HP, but if you are feeling adventurous you can roll.

GM Woran wrote:

Not that adventurous. I'll take my 6hp bird in the hand.

Come to think of it, that's quite a bird...

It's not like he actually has Wolf ears and fangs, but everything about him is wolflike. When he was found, as a baby, he actually was covered in a fine grey-white fur, and he still shows it when the light catches him at the right angle.. A white diamnd-shaped patch in his hair gave him his Birthname:"Snowflake". There was only one problem. Whenever Snowflake became upset, he yelled in a tongue the common folk didn't understand, and although the cleric in Sandpoint said it wasn't an evil tongue, people mistrusted him. Snowflake therefore shied away, and stayed with the cleric, who had a soft spot for foundlings. Snowflake learned a lot about healing peopl. This way he could 'redeem'himself a litle bit to the townfolk. Still, when the temple burnt down, Snowflake knew they wanted a scapegoat, and he fled.
He took to traveling, and took a name, Vy Baro, after a folkhero, the Wise Wolf. On his travels he learned how to defend himself, and he learned what he really was

BTW, I plan on keeping Kn.(religion) and Kn.(history) maxed, to show that Dayo is learning more about his faith and the outside world, respectively. They're both currently at +8.

Diplomacy and Acrobatics are the other two I'll keep maxed, both currently at +9.

When we get back to civilization, I'd like to purchase a Masterwork Tool (flowing monk robes) that provide a +2 circumstance bonus to Acrobatics vs. attacks of opportunity ^_^

Ribbons...

[retired]

Oh! I'd forgotten! Thank you!!

Downside to PbP: so much time elapses after a cool idea that you can forget about it entirely

Sovereign Court

I'm gradually expanding my list of knowledges but keeping them all/most at equal ratings for convenience.

[retired]

I do the same for most of my characters, too. It's easier to list "Kn.(local/religion/history) +8" than "Kn.(local) +8, Kn.(religion) +9, Kn.(history) +7".

Justin and I have History maxed. It's thematic for the two Paladins to have Religion. Thematic for you and Justin to max Arcana. Thematic for Justin to have Dungeoneering. Oskar has Local. Nobility is at least covered if we need it.

So if someone focuses on Nature and Planes, and dabbles in Geography and Engineering, we should have everything covered ^_^.

Sovereign Court

I'm fine with taking an interesting in Nature, and I'll eventually dabble in all of them. Planes doesn't attract me hugely.

BTW, I'll be at DunDraCon tomorrow through Monday. If I'm up and haven't posted in 24 hours, my BOT has been updated on my profile.

This will be my 6th consecutive DunDraCon, but the 1st where I'm solely playing. Three SFS games and seven PFS games ^_^

Dead Suns:

Have fun! Dont do things I wouldnt do ;)

Dead Suns:

So. Weird question. Would any of you be up for a PFS play by post of a scenario? I have a real life player that isnt doing too well with his health, and therefor likes PbP. He can sometimes not post for a few days due to this, but that is no problem for me.
Due to the nature of his absense, I rather not make a public recruiting post (it all not being a big deal is part of why its so nice for him).

He is lvl 2 at the moment, and has played very little. Both scenarios and modules are an option.

M Large Canine Level 3 druid

I'm in, i can do a lot of the newer 1-5s but the market for pfs scenarios is pretty dry.

Dead Suns:

I dont know if you feel like an evergreen? Crypt of the Everflame is an evergreen for example. Can also be done 1 time at lvl 2.

I'm not set up for PFS. /shrug

Would you like to be? Its not that hard.

Maybe? I mean, no harm, right? What's the whole process entail?

pfs for dummies guide

Dead Suns:

Yeah, the wolf made a guide. :)

The super super super short version is that you need a 20 point buy character of either a core race, wayang, tengu, nagaji, kitsune, oread, sylph, undine, of the fire guys.
Classes are all OK, and for some you can pick between either normal or unchained (except for summoner, that is only unchained).
Archetypes are on a case by case basis.
You get 150 GP starting gold.

Make character.
Have fun.
If you like, we can do the paperwork later :)

Sczarni

⚣ Outsider (Californian) Gestalt Commoner/Expert

Plus, if you sign up, you'll get credit for playing this AP towards a single PFS character of your choice ^_^

Call me a "definitely probably". :-)

How long would I have to settle into a character?

Sovereign Court

I'm interested. PbP is doing ok for me so far.

Who's the guy?

Dead Suns:

Paul, our intrepid bartender from concordia. He used to do a ton of D&D back in the day.

As for setteling into a character, once you reach lvl 2, you can no longer change a character. As long as you are lvl 1 you are free to change literally everything.

GM Woran wrote:

That's all well and good, but I've still got about five different character ideas I'd like to try. :)

Dead Suns:

Nothing stops you from making all five. And if you play in PbP, you can even play them all at the same time! :P

Mmm, yes, because maybe I'm not schizoid enough! :P

Dead Suns:

It would need to be 5 different games :P

Lau, Wolf, would you 2 be up for crypt of the verflame? Its a repeatable, for 3XP.
If not I can check if there is a scenario. But I rather not eat into your precious 1-5's unless I have to.

My first impulse is either an UnRogue, or a fighter with an axe, eventually going into Smashing Style.

Sovereign Court

I like Everflame.

I'll be playing in an upcoming PbP and GMing my own soon, in addition to the two I'm in now, and 3 is usually my limit, so I will cordially decline.
