Even as the many-faceted prison spins and reconfigures itself, it cannot keep pace with the combined efforts of the Pathfinder Society. A refreshing breeze pours from the immense orb, restoring the agents' will to fight.
Table GMs, the Winds of Restoration condition is now in effect.

So all my book-learning says to 'hit the ground with a stick'...?
Thanks Chock, I hadn't noticed my gaping wounds because I was still picking my jaw off the ground.
"Hey that stuff is pretty good!" She says in response to the potion. "I think I've got the shakes. Or is that the rock we're on?"
"Yeah.... Um, and Florin's suffocating. Chock you wouldn't happen to be one of those fearless paladin types would you? (I think Florin might be reconsidering her career change.) How about a thief?"
Assuming 'no'.
"Oo! I got an idea! Operation Thunderous Aid! It just came to me like a woman in a party mask speaking from on high."
[url=]Thunderous Aid, is that first bit usable each round by each character forever and ever or at least until we 'break the ground'?
"Chock, I think I read something somewhere in these runes that mentions 'guardians' so maybe get ready for incoming, until we can put Operation Thunderous Aid into full effect."
That's my plan anyway to concentrate on destroying the ward runes first and then moving on to the next most-annoying ones. Might no bother with least annoying ones and instead move on to the puzzle if we think we can do any good against it. Who's gots da mad skillz necessary for the tasks?
UMD for shocking grasp v ward rune: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (3) + 11 = 14 electric damage: 3d6 ⇒ (3, 4, 6) = 13
Thunderous Aid- Ranginori has sensed his saviors are near and attempts to grant them his power and wisdom. During combat, a PC adjacent to the puzzle orb can attempt an DC 17 Diplomacy check, DC 17 Spellcraft check, or DC 14 Use Magic Device check to direct the Duke of Thunder’s wrath. If successful, a PC can cast one of the following spells as a spell-like ability, using her character level as her caster level and either her own Charisma or 20 to determine the spell’s save DC.
cure light wounds, shocking grasp, summon nature’s ally II (air elemental only) cat’s grace, cure moderate wounds.
Between combats, Ranginori can impart his insights to one PC attempting a skill check to help free him. The group must decide which PC gains this bonus before she attempts a skill check, reducing the check’s DC by 3.
Hera the Owl |
Hera following her partner's lead gives it a try.
Same rune unless Gwen dealt with it. In which case she flies to the next ward rune and attempts to destroy that one.
It doesn't mention anything about being able to speak or that the person making the the attempt can't be an owl (with a person-level Intelligence score, and virtual ranks in things like spellcraft and UMD), so....
UMD for shocking grasp v ward rune: 1d20 ⇒ 12 electric damage: 2d6 ⇒ (6, 4) = 10
Anyone close enough to aid? ;)
GM Tyranius |
As for Thunderous Aid- It can be used once per combat. The insight for the skill check can be used once in between each combat. There are two phases as you will see just below. Also Hera is not able to cast spells as it is PC's only not animal companions. Not to mention the verbal and somatic components.
Chock delays as he tries to figure out what to do against the runes while Gen charges her fist, turning back she slams it into the warding rune. Half damage from energy effects.
Monster Init: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (9) - 1 = 8
As Gwen strikes the rune a pair of statues animate from the walls to try and fend off the Pathfinders. With its feet planted firmly together, this marble statue of a female warrior holding a stone sword rises up to support the ceiling. DC 13 Knowledge Arcana

GM Tyranius wrote:Chock delays...Maybe Chock readied given Gwen's advice.
I think that Tyranius saw it as delaying since I couldn't take a relevant action, other than giving you (well, Gwen) the potion. But delaying is good for me.
On this note, before committing to an action, can Chock use Aid another to help the suffocating Florin?
In melee combat, (AC 10, +2 bonus, etc. blurb)
You can also use this standard action to help a friend in other ways, such as when he is affected by a spell, or to assist another character's skill check.
Chock is having a hard time deciding between stopping the statue closest to Florin and himself, looking back and forth between Florin and the statue he says "Jeg må stoppe den statue, men jeg vil ikke have mine allierede til at dø
Cayden, hvorfor er det ikke så nemt som at drikke!"Cayden, why isn't this as easy as drinking!"
GM Tyranius |
Consensus on the boards looks like you can aid another with saving throws. Though it is very circumstantial as most are reactionary. This event just happens to go into several rounds which works out. Give a your roll vs DC 10 for Florin to receive a +2 to his saving throw.
Chock |
Aid another: 1d20 ⇒ 6 +3 if it uses Will Save vs. Fear
GM Reroll +1: 1d20 ⇒ 16 +3 if it uses Will Save vs. Fear
Chock stops in his tracks and goes to help Florin, slapping her back to try and make her breathe again. "Please breathe, we need all hands on deck right now" While waiting for the wizard's reaction, he takes out another potion from his bag. CMW Potion
Celebdan Barhador |
GM, as the rules are vague on this, thought to run through you. What happens if one of us cures Florin? My take, reading some forum, is that she regains consciousness with positive hp. But would still be suffocating so if she fails the save again, she falls unconscious at 0 hp. It essentially "resets" the suffocation. Just want to verify if that's how you would read it, too.
Samildanach The Dread |
Seeing Chock turn to deal with the struggling Florin, Samildanach decides he needs to keep the 'guardians' off their falln friend. Taking a step forwards with his drawn Trident, the Pirate turned Pathfinder strikes out at the creature.
Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24 for cold iron damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Florin Leogil |
Unfortunately, that's how I read it too. That condition doesn't seem to go away at all even with Thunderous Aid.
Fort Save to end it 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10 <--And this makes me dying at -1. I can't even use my Half Orc special ability. I'm sitting the rest of this round I guess.
I hate my dice rolls.
Florin doesn't awaken despite her companion's efforts and worse her breathing seems to slow even more as if breathing less.
Hera the Owl |
Also Hera is not able to cast spells as it is PC's only not animal companions.
Ahem. Familiar.
Celebdan Barhador |
I'll take it that healing will reset the suffocation for now.
Celebdan moves towards the still unconscious Florin, drawing his healing wand along the way, activating it on her.
wand of clw on Florin: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
GM Tyranius |
Hehe, Yes familiar! It can deliver the spell for you but either way it is once per combat phase.
As per the suffocation, that is the way I took it as well. The Hp would go up but he would still continue to not be able to breath which would give a few more rounds possibly.
Even with Chock's frantic words in his ear Florin continues to gasp for breath as he begins to die.
Sam does what he can to keep the statue off of his companions and jabs his trident into the stone.
Trident Damage (Shatter Weapon one handed hafted weapon); Hardness 5; HP 5: 3d6 ⇒ (2, 4, 6) = 12 Total damage 7
This part actually took me a bit to find as a trident is made from two separate materials. While the head is cold iron the shaft is wood and the weakest part would be affected.
Sam's trident smashes into the statue as his haft shatters in his hands. Pieces fly in all directions leaving behind the cold iron head in one piece lying on the ground. Trident is ruined.
Looking up in shock his trident didn't even cause a scratch on the statue. DR

Sorrina Westyr's image manifests to the Pathfinders, standing before a floating metallic polyhedron scribed with countless shifting glyphs. “We have done it! Now how to open this—”
A great crack interrupts the Master of Spell's musings, as an immense three-eyed giant with skin like hewn stone steps through a tear in space, with an army pouring out past her. The giant bellows so that all can hear. “I acknowledge your strength, little ones, for you have angered my benefactor enough to send me. I and my warriors, the Daemon Prayers, honor it with unyielding death. Seize the Vault! Slay them all!”
Sorrina Westyr urgently pipes in. “We just need a few more minutes to secure our prize and escape. Hold them off as long as you can!”
Drandle Dreng’s shaggy head appears once again in the divination window. “You heard her, Pathfinders!” He says, fist raised. “Go get ‘em!”

Most of the group is able to fend off the frightening sensation from the howling as Gwen cascades the fanged one with colors beyond imagination.
Gwen Spell resistance check: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22
Will save Color Spray DC 16: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24
The fanged creature grins as violence is about to ensue.
Dark quickly recognizes both creatures. The first is a Yeth Hound. Yeth Hounds are resistant to most forms of weapons except for silver. Their sinister bites drag the victims to the ground, causing them to cower in fear as well as their howling bay to cause those to panic and run in fear.
Yeth hounds do not collect treasure, having no use for such baubles. The thrill of the hunt and the sweet tang of fear in their prey is all they value. However, some items of worth may occasionally be found in a yeth hound den, the discarded remnants of prey dragged back to the lair. Despite their bestial appearance, the yeth hound is rather intelligent, even if it does little with its intellect but devise and carry out ingenious, hateful plans to torment and horrify its prey before it finally strikes.
Yeth hounds can often be found in the company of night hags or evil hunters. Yeth hounds hate other canine monsters such as barghests and worgs, and attack them on sight if they have the advantage of numbers. They are often associated with particularly bestial demons, and can be found serving demon cults as guardians and trackers. A gift of a yeth hound companion to a particularly successful cult is sure sign of favor in the eyes of a demonic patron. A cult with yeth hounds granted to them in this manner must take care to retain this favor, for if they displease their demonic patron, the hounds could turn on them.
Yeth hounds inhabit secluded dens in remote wilderness areas far from bothersome civilization. These dens are always subterranean, far removed from the hated sunlight. Yeth hounds range great distances from their dens during their nightly hunts, and have been known to carry kills for miles just for the comfort of consuming a fresh meal in their lair. The sight of a yeth hound loping through the sky with a body clenched in its jaws is unsettling indeed.
The second fanged creature is an urdefhan. Urdefhan's are resistant to most forms of weapons unless they are of the good alignment or silver. Immunity to death effects, disease, fear and level drains. Resistant to acid and most spells. A bite from an urdefhan will most likely drain the victim's strength.
Infused with fell energies from Abaddon, urdefhans are an unsightly race dedicated to war. They have developed many strange weapons, but none are more iconic than the two-bladed rhoka sword. Rhoka swords are exotic one-handed melee weapons—all urdefhans are proficient in their use. With such weapons, an urdefhan seeks to inflict as much death as possible upon the world before it perishes, so that its daemonic lords are pleased. Most male urdefhans are sterile—as a result, the women often turn to conjured daemons for mates. The products of such unions are usually typical urdefhans, but sometimes result in half-fiend urdefhans—these monsters usually rise to positions of great power in their violent society.

★ - OVERSEER ANNOUNCEMENT - ★
Pathfinders push back the extraplanar mercenaries, which flee the Society's ferocious counterattack. The few remaining elementals fight to the last but quickly crumble under the assault. With the path back to the surface clear, Sorrina Westyr leads the way up to the portals, while Drandle Dreng organizes a quick head count, and begins ushering groups of agents back to Golarion.
Sorrina Westyr is among the last to step back onto the Isle of Kortos, carrying a beautiful, fist-sized opal that seems to glow with countless colors. Overhead, the once-radiant Aucturn's Tear gradually fades in brightness until it's imperceptible against the night sky.
The Master of Spells holds the immense gem aloft and speaks to the gathered agents. “We have accomplished a marvel today. I hold here an artifact in which dwells a powerful air spirit called Ranginori. Many ages ago, the Elemental Planes existed in balance, forces of good and evil locked in equilibrium. The elemental lords we know of today united against their benign counterparts, and claimed sole dominion. Scholars have speculated on the fates of the defeated, but no longer!”
A few scattered cheers well up from some of the more elementally inclined Pathfinders. Sorrina smiles at them indulgently, and continues.
“It will take time to confirm the outsider trapped within this opal is who he claims to be.” She starts for a moment, as if in response to a comment only she can hear, then looks up to the gemstone apologetically and adds, “Professional caution and courtesy, you understand.” She then looks back to the Pathfinders and continues. “If that's true, though, we now hold the essence of the lost lord of air, Ranginori, Duke of Thunder!”
At this, a wind whips around Sorrina, and she laughs.
“If we can free this being, imagine the history he can share with the Society, the good that might be accomplished. I cannot even begin to speculate on the ramifications for the Elemental Planes…and as word of our accomplishment spreads, there will be many thinking these same thoughts, and not with charitable intent toward us. We must be very cautious in the coming months I fear, and not least in verifying the truth of what we hold.”
“Fortunately, thanks to your efforts this evening, we have crippled key allies and armies of the elemental lords who opposed us. It speaks volumes of what the Society has accomplished in the past decade that I can sincerely state you defied demigods and emerged triumphant! It has been my privilege to have been part of that effort.”
Then the Drandle Dreng totters forward, weaving and swaying as if still trying to adjust back to Golarian’s gravity. “We traveled to the stars, and showed those sanctimonious sycophants just what the Society can do!” Then he scratches his shaggy chin, muttering to himself. “Heh. Pathfinders in the Stars. Starry Pathfinders? Starfinders? Starfinder Society! Oh, that’s catchy... I’ll have to remember that.”

Though his own part was minor he was elated to be a part of such history that had been made here this day.
