Quiven Glist
|
LET ME GO! screams a very panicked little halfling. It might be one of those damn apes again! Or a cultist! I'm not dealing with the likes of them!
Escape Artist?: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19
Beleg the Galtan
|
"Get back here!" Beleg commands. "It's just a bunyip. Seal-shark hybrid with a supernatural roar."
"Although it does feed on small folks like them. . . ." Beleg whispers to the others not running away.
| GM thunderspirit |
Maddie successfully grabs Dink and prevents him from running off.
Rather than make six or seven rolls each, I'm okay with handwaving that two of you hold down Dink and the other two hold down Quiven until the fear effect wears off, if that's okay with you guys.
Quiven Glist
|
A what? A shark? Does it have teeth and everything? So, it can't get me up here? Quiven starts to finally calm down from the effects of the roar. Umm, hehe, yeah, that makes sense. Sharks can't walk on land. Umm, right?
Quiven will retrieve his bow once he calms down. Ok so umm, which way were we going?
Beleg the Galtan
|
"Don't worry." Beleg reassures the halfling. "It's aquatic, not amphibious."
Maddie Sykes
|
"Strange. I wonder if that was suppose to force us into an ambush or a trap." Maddie thinks aloud, "I'm glad we were able to handle the situation well and no one was hurt."
The Amazing Dink
|
Dink struggles to tap himself with his wand of Reduce Person... no dice this time little man.
Like to see these gripper-grabbers manhandle a puppet sized Dink! he thinks to himself.
| GM thunderspirit |
Yup, no problem.
Quiven looks through the south passage and realizes it leads back to the entry into the thicket maze.
Beleg the Galtan
|
"Sounds like a plan," Beleg says, reaching for his cigarettes but realizing the smell might give them away.
Quiven Glist
|
OK, sounds good to me. Let's check it out... as long as that thing doesn't scream at me again. Quiven grabs a banana out of his backpack and starts to enjoy his snack as the party moves toward their destination. Wahnt suhm? the halfling offers to Beleg, sensing the man had wanted something also.
| GM thunderspirit |
Quiven turns the corner and shakes his head — another double-back pathway to somewhere the party has been before.
Maddie Sykes
|
Maddie retrieves her crossbow from the ground and keeps up with her companions. "How very maze-like. I'm glad we did not get separated."
Beleg the Galtan
|
Beleg gives the halfling a quizzical look for a second before relenting. "Sure, thank you."
| GM thunderspirit |
How bout we go north east?.
That might work. LOL
The party heads toward the unexplored part of the thicket.
To the right, the pathway cut through turns off and goes north and south. To the left, you see floors and walls of a sizable chamber covered with matted, wiry fur and musty-smelling. Well-gnawed bones lie scattered about the floor and a dozen wooden stakes have been driven into the ground near the walls. Each has a rope tied to it, most of which lie strewn about nearby, but four have animals collared at the other end.
These beasts have mangy canine faces with the same flat nose, beady eyes, and protruding teeth as a rat grown grotesquely large. They are currently asleep.
Quiven Glist
|
Quiven goes to say something, likely a question, but decides that he'd rather not make any noise at the moment. He points to the right as if to say "That way?"
Beleg the Galtan
|
Beleg nods his head and follows Quiven.
| GM thunderspirit |
Everyone will need to make a Stealth check to sneak past. (Maddie, stop cursing. LOL)
Quiven Glist
|
Stealth: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (2) + 14 = 16
Seems to be a lot of twigs and stuff around here <snap>, there's another one!
Beleg the Galtan
|
Stealth: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (18) - 1 = 17
Out stealthed the rogue!
| GM thunderspirit |
I think even any dead goblin dogs are awake now. LOL
Goblin dogs, which are not dogs at all but in fact a species of rodent grown monstrously large, are ugly, stinking, craven, and foul-tempered. It's no surprise that goblins find kindred spirits in these shunned, disgusting beasts. Constantly itching, afflicted with a species-wide mange exacerbated by prolific dander, even the healthiest goblin dog looks sickly and starved.
A goblin dog's dander is highly irritating to all creatures save those with the goblinoid subtype. A non-goblinoid creature damaged by a goblin dog's bite, who deals damage to a goblin dog with a natural weapon or unarmed attack, or who otherwise comes into contact with a goblin dog (including attempts to grapple or ride the creature) must make a Fortitude save or break out in an itching rash. A creature affected by this rash takes a –2 penalty to Dexterity and Charisma for 1 day (multiple allergic reactions do not stack).
Each of the goblin dogs leaps to its feet with a snarl!
Initiative!
goblin dogs: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20
Quiven Glist

Bah, he's still shaken a little... that's it.
Uh-oh! How long do you think the leashes are?
Initiative: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (3) + 10 = 13
I think my dice roller is broken.
Beleg the Galtan
|
Initiative: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Beleg doesn't like dogs, goblin or not.
| GM thunderspirit |
Back. Soooo tired...
Dink initiative: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13
LMAO...of course it's a 13. X-D
Init repost:
Goblin dogs: 20
Ander: 17
Quiven: 13++
Dink: 13+
Carl: 13
Maddie: 13-
Beleg: 5
With a yelp that's not quite a bark and not remotely appealing, each of the goblin dogs strains at its tether in order to to greet the party properly!
blue STR check DC 14: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22
brwn STR check DC 14: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6

grn STR check DC 14: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15
Two of the rodents break free! The one on the right charges Quiven; the one on the left closes to melee since he/she/it doesn't have a charge lane.
blue goblin dog: 1d20 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 + 2 = 11

Both fail to find their mark.

G: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
Party up!
Maddie Sykes
|
Maddie takes a few steps away from the action and activates her Wand of Bless.
Bless is active: +1 to attack rolls and fear saves.
Wand has 48 charges left.
Quiven Glist
|
Quiven prepares his weapons for melee combat and strikes out at the beast!
Rapier: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 4 + 1 = 20
Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Mace: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 4 + 1 = 22
Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 2
Beleg the Galtan
|
Unable to reach the dogs, Beleg pulls out his bow and fires at the one in front of Quiven (if it's still up).
Greenwood Composite Longbow in melee: 1d20 + 6 - 4 ⇒ (1) + 6 - 4 = 3
damage: 1d8 ⇒ 8
But he nearly hits the halfling in the process. "Sorry," he mutters, "f+*$ing thing." He throws his bow to the ground.
Quiven Glist
|
After hearing the suggestion, Quiven tries to take a 5' step back to the SE. Not sure if I can make my move now but if I can I'll do so. If I can only move backward, well, we'll see how all that works.
| GM thunderspirit |
Ander delays to allow superior tactics to take over.
Quiven strikes out at the goblin dog, striking it twice but not finishing it. He then steps left and down, away from the foul rodents' snapping jaws.
Carl grips his scythe firmly and readies to make with decapitations.
Maddie calls on the blessing of Pharasma.
Beleg fires his bow to little effect. Like a baseball player who's just swung and missed a pitch, he looks at his bow in disdain, as if to say, "you missed!" He discards the bow with some anger.
Dink!
Can Carl fit into the square NE of him?
Nope; Quiven was at the choke point. But he's five-foot-stepped back now.
| GM thunderspirit |
Ander fires an arrow, but is no more effective than Beleg was with his.
Dink: You need a Bluff check for that, don't you?
| GM thunderspirit |
Appreciate it.
The goblin dog shrinks away from the gnome a little, displaying uncharacteristic hesitation.
Green shaken for a round.
Blue moves in to try to get at Quiven's throat, which triggers Carl's readied action. In one blurring movement, the farmer cuts down the goblin dog.
Green moves forward without much confidence and snaps at Carl.
grr...?: 1d20 + 2 - 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 - 2 = 19
But does not land a bite.
The remaining goblin dogs strain at their tethers, trying to get a piece of these new lovely morsels.
brwn STR check DC 14: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15
red STR check DC 14: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Both break free!
Brown charges toward the gnome with glee, conveniently ignoring provocation from Carl and Quiven, then Beleg and Ander on the way!
AoOs from those four, if desired.
1d20 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 + 2 = 24
1d6 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6 plus DC 12 Fort save if hit
Red, which can't charge, moves up behind green, snarling and growling as it impatiently waits its chance to dine on the new delicacies.
Party up!
