All except Beleg are up!
Quiven, you got as far on the bridge as you could get with a single action, but now you can go again.

Maddie observes that the arrows no longer fall down upon her.
Don't you guys know you're supposed to all try to cross the bridge at the same time so it can collapse on you? ;-)
Beleg!
Beleg the Galtan |
Come on collapse!
Beleg makes a run across the bridge. Double move; unless I missed/forgot that it was difficult terrain, in which case move me back 30'
GM thunderspirit |
Nope, you're good. And it takes three Medium-sized at the same time to collapse it, alas. So you guys are safe.
Ander five-foots alongside Carl and splays his hands out in a fan, shooting a rainbow of hues from it.
The goblin dogs are so happy to see Ander, they repeat their greeting!

Ineffectively, as goblin dogs are wont to do. Sad trambone.

Maddie finishes crossing the bridge.
Double move. I'm currently on my phone, if someone could move her to the other side, I'd appreciate it. Sanctuary still in effect.
Beleg the Galtan |
Beleg steps off the bridge, drawing his sword, and surveys the scene, trying to determine the next course of action.
Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
still have a standard left but trying to decide how best to help Ander/Carl without knowing what's going on.
GM thunderspirit |
Maddie's double move gets everyone onto the NEW MAP!
You see three very angry goblin dogs. You can also see four frozen goblins and one more dog near the wall behind them. Ander has a couple of bite marks on him, and Carl, whose scythe has just missed everything, is cursing up a blue streak.
Does that help your decision on a standard, Beleg?
Quiven can go as well!
Carl Brutananadilewski |
Beleg the Galtan |
Beleg swings his blade at the nearest goblin dog!

Beleg looks at Carl and says. "What's so hard about that ?"
Quiven Glist |
Holy smokes, a lot has happened since lunch! Did I miss two rounds? I was hoping to be able to move up to a flanking spot without an AoO, but oh well.
Quiven will move to a spot to the left of the dog furthest to the right! Take your AoO if I couldn't get there before Carl moved up.
Rapier: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25
Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Assuming I now have another round for actions, I will 5' step so that I can flank the doggie with Carl and two-weapon attack.

Damage: 1d4 + 2d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + (2, 2) + 1 = 8

Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 4 plus if I get sneak attack on this one also, I can't remember SA: 2d6 ⇒ (3, 6) = 9
Maddie Sykes |
Unable to reach the dog-like vermin even after having moved a bit closer, Maddie opts once again to use her wand of Bless to grant Pharasma's favor to her group. 46 charges left on wand.
Sanctuary still up (1 additional round left)
Bless is in effect. (9 additional rounds left)
GM thunderspirit |
Since in retrospect it does appear that Quiven got skipped at one point, we will call the melee and say the goblin dogs are history, courtesy of Beleg and Quiven. They're probably the least of your concerns right now anyway.
Maddie, you can hold the bless if you want to use later. Alternatively, you guys can opt to remain in initiative and we'll track the rounds. All depends on what you want to do now that the goblin rider patrol is no more.
Beleg the Galtan |
Wasn't there a door Ander was working on opening? Let's try to get in.
Beleg cleans off his blade and rolls his eyes at Carl.
Quiven Glist |
Quiven puts his blades away after cleaning the goblin dogs junk from them and hears mention of the door. The halflings says, I'll go check it out while you guys check all, umm, this, pointing to the slain enemies. I'll take-20 if I can, unless we are still considered to be "in danger" being outside:
Perception for traps/noises: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (4) + 9 = 13
Disable Device if locked: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (2) + 13 = 15
I hope we're safe, LOL
Maddie Sykes |
While Quiven busies himself with the door, Maddie looks over the dead for anything useful to their mission. If she finds any still dying, she'll say a brief, silent prayer to Pharasma before euthanizing them.
Take 20 if search the bodies if she can, otherwise...
Perception: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (4) + 11 = 15
GM thunderspirit |
As Quiven steps up to the door, arrows sail out from the tower again to remind him that there are still goblins about!
ARROWS!: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11
dmg: 1d4 ⇒ 1
ARROWS (again)!: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24
dmg: 1d4 ⇒ 2
Perhaps you should Take 10 instead... ;-)
Quiven Glist |
Ouch! I thought those guys ran away or something! Quiven tries to speed up the process of unlocking the door, if its locked. If its open, he'll just open it!
GM thunderspirit |
I'll say yes. Why? Cos even with the -2 from the arrow damage, Taking 10 will get you there.
Quiven Glist |
GM thunderspirit |
You can't Take 10 while in combat (i.e., initiative). But we're not, so you're good. ;-)
Quiven jimmys the crack between the two doors and can hear a clunk from the other side as the wooden plank bracing the door falls away.
He can also hear excited shouts from several high-pitched voices, both behind him in the tower and on the far side of the door.
Quiven Glist |
I think we'll have company no matter which way we go. I hear voices inside. Quiven gets ready for potential combat. Looking back to be sure his party is also ready, he then proceeds to push open the door and will step inside, allowing a front-line type to move ahead of him once he does.
Beleg the Galtan |
Beleg nods at Quiven and steps through the door.
Quiven Glist |
As Beleg and Carl move past him, Quiven will step in line behind them as he usually would, hopeful that he has seen the last of the arrows.
GM thunderspirit |
Sorry, guys; Thanksgiving happened and then convention time this weekend, during which I've pretty much lost my voice entirely. (Reward if returned.)
As Beleg and Carl move to get through the door, each gets a pot shot of arrows to the face from goblin "sharpshooters".

Within, the floor of this room is hard-packed soil, as if the builders either ran out of lumber after building the walls and roof, or as if they simply never thought about building a floor. A number of poorly preserved horse and dog heads are mounted along the eastern wall, while along the southern wall hangs a pair of large black-feathered wings tacked to the wall with daggers.
