Led by Sifvery, that party begins running, putting distance between yourselves and the other party, followed by the angry tyrannosaurus.
Plunging through the jungle, you see some fallen boulders in your path. Looking ahead, you see that you can either scramble around them, or use brute strength and push the boulders out of the way!
Survival to go around the boulders, Strength to move the boulders.
Party up!

Grim is ever so eager to follow..

I did forget to say: For this chase, you can cast spells or use abilities, if you want. Valid uses grants bonuses to checks.
Hagrym's pumps his stubby legs furiously, leading the party past the boulders! Looking over your shoulders', you see the enraged tyrannosaur is still right behind you. Ahead of you is only the jungle and a small game trail. You feel like you need to duck into the vegetation to hide, or turn and confront the saurian.
Stealth to hide in the vegetation, or an attack roll to confront the mad momma.
Antonella and Chochok are still invisible
Antonella Schiavo |
“Don’t hurt her! She’s just doing what comes naturally. Let’s just duck behind that giant boab tree.”
Stealth + Invisible: 1d20 + 1 + 20 ⇒ (20) + 1 + 20 = 41
Sifvery Moon |
Sifvery casts a Grease spell in the path of the large beast, hoping to slow it down.
Then she dives into the bushes.
Stealth: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
A grease spell covers a solid surface with a layer of slippery grease. Any creature in the area when the spell is cast must make a successful Reflex save or fall. A creature can walk within or through the area of grease at half normal speed with a DC 10 Acrobatics check. Failure means it can't move that round (and must then make a Reflex save or fall), while failure by 5 or more means it falls (see the Acrobatics skill for details). Creatures that do not move on their turn do not need to make this check and are not considered flat-footed.
Grim Krieger |
Since confronting the beast seems like suicide Grim dives for the undergrowth..
Stealth: 1d20 - 3 ⇒ (13) - 3 = 10
GM Tektite |
Veering hard into the vegetation, the party manages to get out of sight, while Sifvery lays down a slick of grease, slowing down the other party and the dinosaur. Following your lead, the other party dives into the jungle, trying to get away from the angry saurian!
You hear crashes in the jungle as you bushwack through the dense vegetation. Ahead of you, a waterfall feeds a pool and stream that cut across a broad section of the ravine, and sharp-toothed fish are leaping out of the water in anticipation of a meal.
Acrobatics to jump over the pool, or Swim to try wade through the pool.
Sifvery Moon |
Jump - always jump over the pointy teeth thing rather than wade into it.
Not liking her prospects, Sifvery casts Prestidigitation to make some splashing int the water over to the side, hoping it might at least momentarily distract the fish into thinking there is food there, before making a leap to cross the pool.

The party tries to leap over the pond, but the first person fall short and everyone runs into the other, falling into the pond. As she falls, Antonella feels one of the eggs break, as albumin oozes out of the bottom of her pack.
Behind and to you side, you see the other party and the dinosaur gaining ground!
Stumbling out of the water, you see the other party trying to cross a deep pit by swinging on vines. Quickly, you see you can either try to shoot the vines, knocking the men off the vines, or take a quick second to find a better path.
Ranged Attack to shoot the vines, or Perception to find a better path.
Sifvery Moon |
As much as Sifvery puts faith in her bow, she doesn't have any desire to feed the others to the monstrous creature. She looks for another way out of this mess.
Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (20) + 9 = 29
Wow - would have been an impressive bow shot!
GM Tektite |
Sifvery's sharp eyes easily pick out an easier path, leading the way, the party scrambles up the ravine. Ahead, you see a denser patch of vegetation. Realizing the dinosaur will have more trouble than you will picking your way through the jungle, you realize you can either slip through the jumble of vines and shrubbery, or try to take the path of least resistance.
Escape Artist to squeeze through, or Knowledge (nature) to find the least resistant path.
Sifvery Moon |
Not sure if you were waiting for all to make a nature knowledge check, but not a lot of knowledge here!
Know, Nature - untrained: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22

Nivik and Chochok spy a small game trail wending through the vegetation, and motion for the party to follow! Sprinting down the ravine, you see the other group burst from another stand of trees. Seconds that seem like hours pass as both groups realize the ravine ends in cliff face and there are only enough handholds for one group to climb! Dropping their heads and pumping their legs faster, the other group tries to make it there first!
As you run, you see the dinosaur burst out if the jungle and into the ravine! You realize you have two options, try to urge the dinosaur toward the other group, or just beat down the other men!
Handle Animal to influence the dinosaur, or Attack, to put the beat down on the other group.

@GM Tektite, at your discretion could you use the 10+ paladin roll to aid another?
GM Tektite |
Grim and Hagrym easily beat down the competition, allowing the rest of the party to start climbing. Halfway up the cliff, you find yourselves at eye level with the tyrannosaurus! To avoid becoming dinner, you can either climb faster, or try to knock loose a slab of stone, dropping it on the dinosaur's snout!
Climb, to climb faster, or a STR or DEX check to knock loose a slab of rock.
GM Tektite |
The party manages to climb quickly up the cliff face, outpacing the rival group! Continuing toward the village, you leave behind the sounds of screaming and sickening crunches as the dinosaur tears into the other party!
As you approach, at the outskirts of the Krihirik village, grippli possessions lie scattered about as if they were dropped or tossed carelessly from the dwellings above. Where before gripplis hurried about the village, now none are to be found. Shouting from the direction of the elders’ hut carries through the empty jungle—“Find the others!”—followed by the loud crash of something falling to the jungle floor.
Chochok Tree Whisper |
"Someone's attacked the grippli camp while we were gone! Must've been more of the Aspis agents, no one else woulda done somethin' as backhanded! C'mon, we gotta save em!" Chochok runs along towards the village, trying to find the source of the shout.
Antonella Schiavo |
Antonella keeps moving but remains calm. “Trust your instincts, Good Chochok … We do.”
Perception for Threats and Source of the Shouting: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14 Does the yelling sound grippli or human?
“I’m thinking the Opposition might be tossing the village looking for the Orb.”
“Hagrym, if Chochok’s leading us into battle, do you want to be enlarged again? Sifvery, I could benefit from a charge of mage armor if you have one to spare.”
Antonella re-equips her shield and decides to risk activating her bead of blessing as the Pathfinders approach the elders’ hut.
