Nivik Klist |
History: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25
Hmm, seems to me that the architecture in this area is quite plain by dwarven standards, which means the dwarves probably built this area in a hurry. They are quite old, I estimate the ruins are about 3,000 years old.
Nivik nods to Fahd and then Chochok. Shall we proceed? Nivik takes the time to use his wand to cast Mage Armor on himself.
Antonella Schiavo |
Antonella nods at Nivik’s suggestion. “I don’t fancy walking all the way to the end of the narrow corridor though. Maybe we try the first door in the passage to see if it’s false or a trap?”
As they advance, Antonella will check the floor, walls and doors for traps/secret doors/tricks.
Take 20 Perception: 20 + 6 = 26
Getting a Tomb of Horrors vibe from this. It’s quite cool.
Antonella Schiavo |
*sighs* “OK, guys. I’m gonna try the same deal for the next couple and the next couple, and so on until I find anything interesting or if any of the doors are locked or not.”
Antonella has a sharp eye out for murder holes, secret doors or trap doors - floors, walls and ceiling.
Take 20 Perception: 20 + 6 = 26
Hmm … I wonder if I’ll spot any mist or devil faces down here?
Fahd Bin Stavain PFS |
"It looks like we are going to have to force some of these doors. If I drop my shoulder into it, one of them might give way."
If there is no opposition, Fahd does just that, and tries to force open a door.
Strength check 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22
Fahd Bin Stavain PFS |
First door on the left, DM. I'm on my phone so I can't edit the map. I'll take them in turn walking my way down the hallway.
GM Tektite |
Fahd forces open the first door on west. Inside is a long rectangular room. A 10-foot section of the wall lies in pieces on the floor.
Fahd Bin Stavain PFS |
Perception 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20
"Watch that piece over there, it's a trap! That 5' section of the wall, adjacent to the collapsed portion, could topple over with a strong push. The push isn't needed though. Look at those tiles on either side of the five section of wall. They've been rigged into pressure plates. Anyone stepping on them will make the wall collapse into the person. Be very careful!"
Taking care to avoid the trap, Fahd continues to look around the room. If he finds nothing, he goes back into the hallway, and tries his hand at the room on the other side off the hallway (the one that looks like it might mirror this room on the map, just on the other side of the hallway).
Strength check 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
Grim Krieger |
Grim moves in over by Sifvery and looks at the door closely as well..
Take 10 for a 20 perc
GM Tektite |
Fahd crosses the hall and throws his shoulder into the other door. It doesn't budge on his first try, but he eventually forces it open. The air in this room smells stale. A pile of rocks sits on the dust covered floor in one corner of the room. Antonella and Grim notice that a single human-sized creature wearing boots has visited the room recently.
Fahd Bin Stavain PFS |
Perception 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10
"Look at that pile of rocks in the corner. Way to precise and orderly for that to be natural. Something has placed them there, I bet!"
Nivik Klist |
Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (5) + 9 = 14
Hmm... the south door. Peculiar how it is bent slightly inward, a result of the mass of rubble pressing against it. Perhaps further investigation is warranted. Nivik will detect magic once more and allow others to examine said door.
Antonella Schiavo |
“Yin-yang, gang! I don’t like the feel of this.”
Take 10 Perception: 10 + 6 = 16
Working more from intuition than any solid data, Antonella glances at the brawler.
If he finds nothing, he goes back into the hallway, and tries his hand at the room on the other side off the hallway (the one that looks like it might mirror this room on the map, just on the other side of the hallway).
“I’m wondering if we should go with Fahd’s original suggestion of checking the rooms that mirror this one on the other side of the corridor.”
Antonella withdraws from the ‘trap-room’ but waits to hear the others’ thoughts before examining the ‘new’ door for traps and tricks.
Take 20 Perception: 20 + 6 = 26
The paladin offers, “We could always tie a rope around the south door knob and try pulling it open from a safe distance.” ☯☯☯☯
Fahd Bin Stavain PFS |
"air you think that would work, Antonella, we can give that a try. My shoulder needs a bit of a break anyway," Fahd nods, as he stands back and waits for the improved door opener to be rigged.
GM Tektite |
As the party examines the pile of rubble, Antonella notices a buried satchel. Digging it out, you find it contains a wand of cure light wounds (12 chrgs), wand of lesser restoration (5chrgs), wand of bear's endurance (14 chrgs), two potions of cure moderate wounds, and two potions of spider climb. Along with the items, you find a journal.
I did not run into any guards in the way here, but the religious decorations and traps suggest that kobolds live in these ruins. I found a room that had not been used recently. It seems safe enough to rest a bit and to store some of my equipment here. If my hunch is right, there is a temple elsewhere deeper in these ruins.
Chochok Tree Whisper |
"It seems we're on the right trail though. Sharrowsmith certainly came through here. Let's hope he hasn't returned to it because he's been too busy with some great find...."
Chochok takes out his musket and follows along.
Grim Krieger |
"Indeed.. Lets continue.. It confuses me why he left this gear here though.."
Grim will take the bear's endurance wand and leave the rest to Ant.. He'll also secure one of the spider climb potions..
Antonella Schiavo |
Grim ... leaves the rest to Ant.
The priestess smiles. If I fail to advance in this life, I’d rather come back as an ant than a tuna!
I was going to link to Adam Ant’s “Goody Two Shoes” from the ‘80s on youtube … but sadly it’s Terrible!!
Antonella nods and says kinda obviously … “Those items may come in handy as we trail in Sharrowsmith’s wake. Let’s try the next doorway for traps and tricks as we continue … ever onwards and upwards, my brothers and sister!”
Take 20 Perception: 20 + 6 = 26
If Antonella hears potential foes beyond the doomsday door, she may pause to buff before proceeding.
Bring it, GM Tektite!
Fahd Bin Stavain PFS |
Aid another Perception 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22
GM Tektite |
Which door are you opening? The one in the south part of the room you are currently in, is the one bulging. I'm assuming you are checking the next door in the hall, one the east side.
Moving back out into the corridor, you check the next door on the same side of the hall. Once again, it takes some budging, but is eventually opened. In this room, it quickly becomes apparent why the other door was bulging, as a massive pile of rubble, from a ceiling cave-in, lays against it.
In the southern part of this room, you see an opening.
Grim Krieger |
Grim follows, keeping an eye out as well..

Antonella and Grim peer around the corner, and both see two kobolds skulking in the shadows. Seeing they are spotted, both move to attack!
Initiative:
Nivik
Grim
Kobolds
Chochok
Fahd
Sifvery
Antonella
Nivik and Grim are up!
Grim Krieger |
Grim will burn a fervor to swift cast Bull's Str, move, and attack the kobold..
1d20 + 9 ⇒ (5) + 9 = 14 vs FF..
Dam: 2d8 + 15 ⇒ (4, 4) + 15 = 23
Antonella Schiavo |
As she rounds the corner, Antonella realizes that ... We must be on the other side of the portcullis that guards the corridor. But why the narrow kill zone and what do the bars prevent access to ..?
She looks from the iron barrier on her right to the wall on her left. There’s nothing of any real interest except for that ol’ … OH, NO!
The priestess cries “GRIM, LOOK OUT!”
Chochok Tree Whisper |
Chochok mutters, "Damn kobolds." He takes aim and fires.
+1 musket: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 16
damage: 1d10 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
"S'pose they know we're comin' now."
Fahd Bin Stavain PFS |
Fahd moves to engage the closest kobold, swinging a fist at the little creature's head.
Unarmed Strike 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20
Damage 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Antonella Schiavo |
Antonella holds up her hand at the remaining(?) kobold, like a city watchman (STOP!) before setting her palm a-quivering. “Did you see what happened to your trap-mate? You’re next!”
Intimidate to demoralize (DC = 10 + target hit dice + target wisdom modifier): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11
If you are successful, the target is shaken for 1 round. This duration increases by 1 round for every 5 by which you beat the DC.
Grim Krieger |
Grim moves up and attacks the other one..
Attack: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (20) + 9 = 29

Dam: 2d8 + 15 ⇒ (3, 5) + 15 = 23

I think he just made a mess.. Poor kobold..
