Dejik takes 10 for an 18 Knowledge Religion.

Careful--those look like spectres. They can reach right through your armor and drain your life away. Magical force like a shield of faith or Ronan's armor spell will help protect you. And only magic weapons can harm them at all--but they don't work all that well.

Dejik draws the wand that Ronan purchased before they left Kenabres and touches it to one of Sarkast's spears. Using the wand to cast Bless Weapon on one of Sarkast's non-magical spears. I don't think she needs a concentration check from a wand--is that correct?

Ayesha saw the spectral creatures and heard Dejik's words. Concentrating, she added a touch of power to her scimitar, which took on a fuzzy aspect as it blurred between the realms of shadow and light.

The spectres reach the end of the hall, and then turn back, slowly advancing towards the group. They seem to not notice anything at all.

Edit: For some reason I keep expecting Ronan to summon a celestial monkey and send it down the hall. Too many players "exploring" dungeons that way in the past, I suppose. Trap Monkeys, the bane of GMs everywhere.

Dejik softly chants a spell, then touches Sarkast on the shoulder. It is not as good as the protection spell I usually use, but this should help against their touch.

Casting Shield of Faith on Sarkast, for a +3 deflection bonus to AC. If anyone else has a deflection bonus less than 2, she can cast it on them, also.

To be clear, Ronan can summon stuff, he just has to use a spell slot to do it. His 'summon monster' ability only works with the eidolon gone.

The spectres continue on their route. After a minute or so of watching it's obvious they are walking - floating a patrol.

Sarkast watches the patrolling ghosts, and continues down the hall, trying to avoid contact, but trusting in the extra defenses he has been given in case they do attack.

Sarkast easily slips by the spectres. To the north, through the bars, is a large set of double doors. To the east the hallway opens up into a large prison lockup. Sarkast can dimly see several figures languishing in cages to the east. However, as he sees them, they see him. A loud hissing, shrieking sound fills the dungeon as the figures rush out of their opened jail cell towards Sarkast!

Sarkast sees the figures move out and smiles. With a sudden flash of movement, he darts back down the hallway, past the ghostly guards.

"Some inmates appear to be escaping. I wonder if the guards will hold them back?"

Move action to move 80' back down the hallway, ready an action to throw the returning dagger if one of the inmates makes it past the ghosts to within 20' of Sarkast.

AC is currently 30 vs corporeal, 25 vs incorporeal: 8 Armor (4 Mage armor), 3 deflection, 4 dexterity, 4 dodge, 1 natural.

Those look like vampire spawn--fledgling vampires. They'll drain your blood and try to control your mind. Dejik turns to Ayesha. Fire or acid is best against them--they are not harmed by cold or electricity as much. Silver weapons, also.

Odd that those spectres didn't attack Sarkast...I wonder if those are normal spectres. Dejik studies the spectres for a few seconds. Move action to Detect Evil on one of the spectres.

Dejik readies an action to channel to harm when the vampires get within 30 feet. If the spectre doesn't detect as evil or if either one of them attack the vampires, she'll select both of them out.

Dejik distinctly remembers a great deal of vampire lore as she spies the spawn. The legendary weaknesses of vampires certainly apply to these creatures including garlic, a holy symbol presented strongly, sunlight, immersion in running water, and a stake through the heart. They are resistant to all attacks save silver, and can assume a gaseous form at will. They are noted for their ability to dominate the minds of living men, drain blood, and sap the life of someone with their touch. However, the individual spawn are far weaker than a full vampire.

The spectres are evil.

Ronan looks down the hall from where Sarkast just came back from and then creates a wall of flame to slow down the vampire spawn

Nilus rushes up, and brutally slashes through the spectre. He feels only a little resistance as Radiance passes through, but he does damage nonetheless. The two spectres turn, and let out a horrible hissing soudn as they raise their broken arms and make for the group!

A roaring wall of fire appears as Ronan weaves his spell. One of the vampires swings open the door, and they look with some hesitation at the wall of fire before shrieking as they are burned. The vampire spawn rush against the opposite wall, refusing to be burned like that once more.

Jinxx manages to spring directly over the spectre and turns as he lands, biting out at it, but missing badly.

The two spectres move in on Jinxx, reaching out to flank, and draw the life from the eidolon. Despite the swiftness of the eidolon, their cold, grasping hands pass through Jinxx's body.

The spectre easily avoids Dejik's spiritual weapon as Sarkast and Jinxx surround and viciously assault the undead creature. After a flurry of attacks it remains upright, albeit a little tattered. It responds by attempting to swipe its hand through Sarkast, but the nimbly rogue easily dodges the attack.

Two of the vampire spawn shriek as they are instantly destroyed by the wall! The remaining spawn all vanish as they turn into puffs of gas and seep into the cells behind them; invisible beyond the walls of fire.
