Dejik looks at the tiefling and gestures towards Nilus. In deference to my friend there, I give you the chance to surrender. This wall will not protect you for long.

Dejik steps up and touches the stone floor in front of her and concentrates. The chiseled stone softens and moves of its own accord, opening a small tunnel under the tiefling's defensive barrier. Then she draws her sword and calls to Sarkast.

Serkku , sinulla on tapa nyt !

Kellid:
Cousin, you have a way in now!

Using Inspired Spell to cast Stone Shape at CL 10. With 20 cubic feet, Dejik should be able create a tunnel under the force wall for Sarkast to get inside. At the very least, it will give Dejik line of effect for some spells.

As Dejik makes the opening, Sarkast looks at her, then at the demon. Seeing her nod, he turns away from the demon and dives through the hole.

Acrobatics to avoid AoO (vs CMD): 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (3) + 17 = 20
OK, so I'm getting shanked on my way out ...

Now, with 20 cubic feet, a tunnel 5 feet long would be 4 square feet in cross section, or about 2.5 feet in diameter. If it only has to be 3 feet long, it could be over 4 feet in diameter. That sounds like an Escape Artist check to me.
Escape Artist: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (7) + 14 = 21
Not sure what the DC is going to be, so I'll post the rest assuming I get through; if not, take a second action to retry that check:
Escape Artist recheck, if needed: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (9) + 14 = 23

Assuming I haven't just gotten myself completely Winnie-the-Poo'd here, another Acrobatics check to avoid the Tiefling's AoO, then an attack. Since I moved more than 10 feet, I get sneak attack.
Acrobatics to avoid AoO (vs CMD+2): 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (10) + 17 = 27
Attack, +1 returning dagger: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (8) + 11 = 19 Damage, magic: 1d4 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8 Sneak Attack: 4d6 ⇒ (6, 6, 5, 4) = 21

Wow, I'm going to go bury my face in the sand. The dice roller really hates me currently.

If by some miracle I get in there and the attack hits, target is unable to make attacks of opportunity for 1 round. In addition, target is Disoriented (-2 attack, -4 vs Sarkast).

.

Mistake on Ayesha, the schir attacking you was exhausted, and so the attack missed! As for the escape artist check, I'm putting it at a 20 which is difficult for normal people. Sarkast is not a normal person. But no free acrobatics check coming out of the hole.

With two swipes of Radiance, the schir collapses to the ground, dead. Ayesha then rushes southwards, swiping out at the lone remaining schir, who misses badly as she approaches. Ayesha then scores a solid hit.

AoO: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (1) + 12 = 13 Damage: 1d10 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14

With the schir distracted, Sarkast dives into the hole. He wriggles his way through the hole, and comes up as the tiefling shrieks, slashing at him uselessly.

Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10 Damage: 1d4 - 1 ⇒ (2) - 1 = 1

In range, Sarkast slashes out at her, but misses badly, foiled by her protective spells. Panicking, she quickly chants a spell while she dodges Sarkast's attacks.

Concentration: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (7) + 13 = 20

"You should lie down in that hole to stop me from getting out," she suggests, reasonably.

Meanwhile, the schir turns to attack Ayesha, missing.

Attack: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (9) + 12 = 21 Damage: 1d10 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11
Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19 Damage: 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10

Sarkast must make a DC 19 will save or go have a lie-down in the hole! Everyone is up!

More of Ayesha's wound transfers to Dejik, and the paladin grins at Sarkast. You know, getting in the hole does seem like a good idea.

Dejik crouches in the hole on the outside of the magic wall, brandishing her sword in one hand and her holy symbol in the other. She waits for Nilus to move into range, then channels Iomedae's power to heal and bless her friends.

Dejik is trying to get her channel to pass under the wall and affect Sarkast; if it won't work, then she'll just guard the hole. Move action to step into the hole, then ready a standard action to channel when Nilus gets within 30 feet.

Channel to heal, excluding the demons and the tiefling: 5d6 + 1 ⇒ (5, 5, 2, 1, 5) + 1 = 19

Fire Shield: 1d6 + 9 ⇒ (5) + 9 = 14

Ayesha neatly moves behind the schir demon, but her attack misses as Dejik sends out a blast of healing magic.

Within the wall of force, the tiefling shrieks her rage at Sarkast, and doing her best to ignore the very dangerous rogue, starts quickly casting a spell.

Spying the paladinc oming up behind him, the schir turns, swiping out with his glaive and running in to gore the paladin; both attacks miss badly.

I can't remember how much resist we currently have, so I'll wait for Dejik to remind me before I note the damage.

Is the tiefling casting defensively or taking my AoO? You didn't post a concentration check. If she's taking the AoO, here it is:
Attack, +1 returning dagger: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (4) + 11 = 15 Damage, magic: 1d4 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
Well, never mind...

Hoping to disrupt the tiefling's spell, Sarkast lashes out again, striking as quickly as possible.
Primary Attack, cold iron dagger: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (2) + 9 = 11 Damage, cold iron: 1d4 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
Secondary Attack, +1 returning dagger: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (8) + 9 = 17 Damage, magic: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Iterative Attack, cold iron dagger: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6 Damage, cold iron: 1d4 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
*Sigh* The RNG giveth, and the RNG taketh away ... I'm not going to like what happens when this spell finishes, am I? Let's burn a mythic point for one more try, using Amazing Initiative:
Attack, +1 returning dagger: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (13) + 11 = 24 Damage, magic: 1d4 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6

Wth, I totally rolled concentration and then lost it. Oh well, moot point.

Ayesha kept the demon between herself and Nilus, cutting into the creature every time it turned to face the paladin.

.

Dejik reaches a hand under the wall, brushing Srakast's heel and shielding him. Ayesha and Nilus surround the schir demon, making quick work of it.

Meanwhile, behind the wall, the tiefling wizard appears filled with rage, rather than worried. She starts screaming incoherently at Sarkast, who she again tries to charm in an attempt to get him out of her safe space.

Concentration (defensive cast): 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (15) + 15 = 30

We're stalling out - I'm going to have everyone hold while they wait for the tiefling to get accessible.

.

Having made a decision, the group takes the babbling tiefling, and lock her up in the anti-magic cell after relieving her of her more precious items. As this continues, the maddening whispers get louder, and more insistent, to the point of distraction.*

The tiefling had the following valuable items on her:

- scroll of dimension door
- scroll of dispel magic
- cloak of resistance +2
- headband of vast intelligence +2 (grants ranks in Sense MOtive)
- ring of protection +2
- an unidentified ring (beyond take 10, I'll need a roll)

Spellcraft DC 24:

This is a ring of forcefangs.

With the tiefling safely jailed, and your keyring from the vampire good enough to get the prisoner in and out, you continue on your trek. The enormous ritual chamber is elaborately decorated to Deskari, but does not hold objects of note of value beyond that.

The only exit is to the southeast, which you all follow with Sarkast thoroughly checking the doors. A second set of double doors from a hallway opens up into a very interesting new room.

Swaths of pulsating red lichen illuminate this long, 30-foot-high,
alcove-lined hall. The alcoves themselves display elaborate, colorful murals of demonic entities, each with inscriptions chiseled into the stone below them. At the far end of the hall stands a massive iron framework that displays a red banner.

Ayesha looked through the items, pausing over the ring. She quickly cast detect magic on it and studied it for a few moments before holding it up to the light.

"A ring of Forcefangs, I think, though I've never seen one in person. It gobbles up any force spell directed at you, and then allows you to direct magical missiles from it. Quite useful if you are going up against a sorcerer. Sarkast or Nilus should hold onto it, I think, as they tend to get targeted by such spells the most often. I can use the scrolls, and add the spells to my repertoire. And the headband...I think I am the only one who gets much use out of it, am I right? The rest are good for any in our front line of battle."

Ayesha sorted through the items with an eye for utility.

Will: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26

The whispers in the air didn't phase Ayesha as they looked in. In fact, it was almost soothing. Still...

"This does not look good."

.

It's a fine red banner bearing Iomedae's symbol and matches what the group understands about the Sword of Valor. Dejik checks the ring and it has four charges.

Is that it? Is that the Sword of Valor? Dejik looks around. I would have expected guards, maybe...

Dejik scans the area with Detect Magic and Detect Evil (she also still has Death Watch up).

Oops--that was supposed to be Dejik.

HMMM. My post from two nights ago was eaten...

Will: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (2) + 9 = 11 Mythic Surge: 1d6 ⇒ 2

Nilus looks obviously bothered by the voices.

Blessed Rose. Protect me. he mutters, over and over.

Nilus too checks for evil presences while moving to the front of the group. Detect Evil

.

Nilus detects nothing. As Dejik advances, she detects magical auras, and then finally a strong abjuration aura from the banner.

Can Dejik tell if the aura is coming from the banner itself or from something around the banner?

.

You approach the banner, which is absolutely giving off the abjuration aura. Curiously, despite your own expertise you're unable to determine what the actual magical effect is. Just that it's abjuration.

Sarkast looks around the room for mundane details, leaving the magical auras to the specialists. He is quiet and patient as they work, but clearly more irritable than usual.

.

As Sarkast explores the room, he comes closer to the banner, and then freezes. Something is distinctly wrong. As he inspects it a little closer, from a distance, he can tell something about how it is presented, and the magical feel of it that this is a trap.

Sarkast freezes and says, "No one move!"

He studies the area intently for several minutes, trying to find whatever it is he is feeling.

Take 20 for 35 Perception.

.

You tell the group to halt and then take a good long look at the banner and area around it. There's a feeling that comes with magical traps you're practiced at finding, and you can tell that getting too close to the banner will trigger a powerful hostile spell. The trap is cast on the floor surrounding the banner, but by carefully inverting one of the stones you could disable it.

Sarkast gets several small tools out of his pack and very carefully begins working on the stone in front of him.

Take 10 for 23; if that isn't sufficient, go ahead and roll for me. I'm heading to a meeting. ;-)

Nilus freezes in place when Sarkast issues the warning

Blessed Rose be with you Noble Sarkast. Nilus says in a low voice, holding Radiance at the ready.
