Is False Life evil? Ray of Enfeeblement? They are both necromancy. Necromancy does not equal evil. Its a cool staff. Besh never has to use the capstone of Animate Dead, but it will be there to tempt him. :)
Being able to cast Scorching Ray, false life, and Fireball at his caster level without having to memorize them will add a lot of depth to out arcane caster. Its usually pretty easy to keep such a staff charged up too.

Lyr Scarheart |

Mostly it's the Animate Dead thing (which Lyr wouldn't care much about anyway. I just thought it was worth discussing)

Pretty close, yeah.
I'm not sure if I want Lyr's eventual storyline to let him regenerate his body somehow and try to have a normal life, or become some kind of tragic undead monster stalking the Darklands, bringing ruin to the Drow.

GM SpiderBeard |

The staff is necromantic but not technically evil.
I'll have a post up tomorrow. I need to spend some time adding up all the loot you guys have gathered. If I recall correctly you haven't had a proper buy & sell moment yet. I'll letcha know your total loot list and potential earnings from sales ASAP.

GM SpiderBeard |

Okay, so we've never really actually dealt with loot beyond one-off items. I have every drop from this chapter in the spreadsheet now. I know Beshtori claimed the staff and spellbook from Nolveniss, but there are items that may have been claimed earlier on. Not many.
As it stands, the combined total value of all loot is 66,307.7
Amount per person: 13,261.54
If you claim anything on this sheet please zero out the value and write your name down. The loot tracker link is up above by the map.

Brenna Eklund |

I'm not really sold on much of the stuff on the list. I can carry a cure light potion in case someone needs it to be fed to them in an emergency (in a real fight, 1d8+1 hit points is not gonna be a big help to me at this level). The +2 cloak of resistance is the only thing that's an actual item upgrade. Lyr would be a better choice for the magic bows, and I don't have enough Strength to use the mighty 5 composite bow. The magic greatsword is neat but I have Weapon Focus with the battleaxe.
So I guess I might nab the CLW potion and then just... cash out for a money share of whatever is leftover when the unclaimed loot is sold. The next thing I wanna buy is super-expensive, anyway.

Saphren |

So Saphiren has a few of these items. But I am not sure about some of them. He has a +1 ring, but does he have this +1 ring? He has +2 mithrlal chain 'shirt, but does he have that one? I think so in this case. He has a 10 fire and 10 acid bolts. So I lowered the number of those, But I might have messed up the formula for the acid bolt so please check it.
Brenna should take the +2 cloak.
We should keep all the healing potions as party look.
Best should take all the scrolls he does not know the spell of and scribe them. Plus keep the scroll of haste as a great backup.

Beshtori Sankral |

Besh has AC 16 so could make use of the bracers, but also isn't usually in the line of fire, so I'm not sure if the money would be more useful.
Similarly, would a handy haversack be useful for potion/scroll storage?
Besh has the spells on the scrolls already (web, haste, black tentacles). Scroll of Black Tentacles might also be useful?

Saphren |

No Besh. Those bracers are way overpriced. Just cast Mage armor and get the same AC bonus. Plus keep your wrist slot open. Sell the bracers.
Scrolls have minimum caster level stats so very low saves. That is why I said to keep the Haste and sell the others. I you cast Black Tentacles the DC is 19. From the scroll its 16.

GM SpiderBeard |

As a note, functioning globe is an item recovered from the library as you ran off before looting could occur but the elves dlivered it to you.
Basically it's an automated assistant that will create an illusory elf that will answer questions about subjects relevant to Celwynvian 10,000 years ago. It's a sort of one-of-a-kind historical find, but a pretty obscure curio as well.
I've adjusted totals as noted. 12311.54 each unless someone claims anything else.

Beshtori Sankral |

Sorry, I decided at the last minute to grab two of those CMW potions - I just think it's handy to have a few on hand.
Total now = 12 251.54 / each
A +4 headband of vast intelligence is 16k. A +2 only sells for 2k. That would put Besh 4k short.
I am willing to loan the 4k difference to Besh for that upgrade if zhe wants it. The upgrade I want costs over 16k anyway. :)
I will gladly take you up on that offer, unless of course you think your upgrade would be more beneficial, in which case, Besh can lend you the difference you need for your item.

Nope. My item basically will improve my DR and that's it. A headband for Besh means more spells and higher save DCs. Way better.
I'll add 8251.54 to my personal list, and take that +2 cloak. (We can sell my old +1 cloak for 500, if nobody else needs one.)

Lyr Scarheart |

With the 6k Lyr was already hauling around, I'll be able to afford a couple decent upgrades. Now I just have to figure out what kind of items Shamans need.

Lyr Scarheart |

I expected that. I knew you'd be getting different armor as we leveled, so I basically made some pieces that can be added to whatever armor you happen to be using at the time.
Once this scene is done I'll do the in-game scene. Here's what I made:
A matched set of dragonscale gauntlets, one a Masterwork Spiked Gauntlet, the other a Locked Gauntlet so you can't drop your weapon when Panicked ;)
A Dragonhide under-tunic with reinforced vitals and joints, granting the Double Plated modification to armor worn with it.
A pauldron made from Razorhorn's head, and shin, forearm, knee and elbow guards adorned with the claws and fangs that gives the armor it's affixed to the Razored modification. (includes masterwork armor spikes)
Both the armor modifications have slight drawbacks, but if you feel like investing in the armor adept feat you can remove them.
Oh, and when you get your armor, I can hit it with Masterwork Transformation.

Lyr Scarheart |

According to the rules, a dragon's hide can only be used to make full plate for a creature four sizes smaller than the slain dragon. So, Razorhorn could make platemail armor for a Sprite.
Seems pretty silly to me, but those are the rules, which is why I went with making armor components instead.

Lyr Scarheart |

It's a pretty good feat, all things considered. It's basically the same AC value as taking Dodge, with some extra stuff to go along with it.
Or, you can just save the under armor until you can get Celestial Plate. It counts as Medium armor, so no feat necessary for the bonus.
Edit: Just did a little research. It looks like you could make Celestial Plate out of your Adamantine armor. Since Adamantine armor is listed as an extra 15k over the base price, they should stack just fine. Something to work towards.
My suggestion would be to take the feat at some point, then retrain it after you can afford the Celestial Plate enchantment.

Lyr Scarheart |

Barbarians always are. It's a byproduct of "the big fighter class feature is feats, so we have to make all the combat options into feat chains" game design.
It's a big reason why I don't play martial characters much anymore.

Saphren |

So, shopping. It would be good to know if there are things we will need while pretending to be drow, except buckets of anti-toxin. We know we will need that. :)
Is there any shopping limits? Can we get items upgraded without selling them? Things like +1 cloak to +2?

GM SpiderBeard |

No shopping limit thanks to the teleportation merchant gimmick. Upgrades are fine. You poof it in, and poof it out and have we'll an in-game week to deal with items duration-wise.

Lyr Scarheart |

SInce we killed a dragon and I extracted it's various important bits, could I harvest some Dragon Bile?

Saphren |

OK. Upgrading cloak to +2, Armor to include Stealth +5, and upgrading dex item to be dex and Strength. That is just under 13K and leaves Saphren about 2.5K for something more mission dependent.
Are partially wands ok?

Lyr Scarheart |

Phylactery of Positive Channeling, 11k
Eyes of the Eagle 2500 gp
various alchemical and weapon crafting components 1500k
Wand of Ill Omen 750 gp
Wand of Cure Light 750 gp
Wayfinder 500 gp
Dust of Dryness 850 gp
Tree feather token 200 gp
Boat feather token 225 gp
Fan feather token 100 gp
And I'm down to pocket change.

Zoso the Forlorn |

Alright, so with 15912.94 to play with, at the moment thinking:
Headband of Charisma +2 - 4kgp
Metamagic Rod of Reach (Lesser) - 3kgp
Metamagic Rod of Extend (Lesser) - 3kgp
2x Scrolls of Ancestral Regression - 300gp
Comes to 10,300 gp
Before I commit the rest, GM are Runestones of Power legit? I had never heard of these before a moment ago.
Also, I figure rods and wands can be placed in a bandoleer, but how about an adventure's sash? Only asking because it sounds like that'd be able to carry the runes in a pocket as well.

Lyr Scarheart |

So, I have a tactic that I'd really like to try once we get our next decent loot haul (or right now if I can convince everyone to get onboard).
Fogcutting Lenses are 8k each.
And Eversmoking Bottle is 5,400.
The combination of all of us wearing fogcutting lenses and starting our fights out by popping smoke could turn the Drow's usual tactics back on them and make fights hilariously one sided.
Thoughts?

Holy crap that's a lot of tangleburn!
...yeah, that's exactly what he meant.

I think I'll combine them with Dust of Dryness so that I can toss out an olympic swimming pool full of firey glue.

I’ve had to DM that. It was no fun at all. Against it on generally being too broken and cheezy.

Beshtori Sankral |

Gonna get that Headband of Ridiculously High Intellect (+4), and worry about upgrading my equipment the next time around - I'll just avoid getting hit by Dimensional Stepping my way out of trouble :)
Thanks for the loan, Brenna - I'll pay you back asap.
Beshtori's INT is now 22. Gods help me to play a character who is so fantastically clever. In the old days of D&D, INT scores were described as a tenth of your IQ score - even Stephen Hawking only has an IQ of 200.

Lyr Scarheart |

These days it's less clear cut. The approximations I've seen are more like your stat x8.5
18s just don't mean as much as they used to. :)

GM SpiderBeard |

Haha, yeah. They don't. Pathfinder solves balance issues by just adding numbers - upper ceiling on stats isn't really there. Beshtori is very much a genius at this point though. Good luck roleplaying that! :D
