Kawrock I'll have you fly at a 45' angle.
Eldon begins some classic Eldon-style babbling as more arrows soar from the tower at the primals. Two arrows graze one of the primals, which roars in anger, realizing it's now caught between all of you and the hostile tower behind it.
Attack: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (11) + 9 = 20 Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Attack: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (18) + 9 = 27 Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3

Attack: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (18) + 9 = 27 Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Kawrock soars overhead to get a better look at the tower whilst flinging a fire bolt at one of the werewolves. He is still far too low to make out the top of the tower, but he can spot the roof of the trapezoidal section of the temple.
Broken columns line the perimeter of the flat roof of the low, trapezoidal building adjoining the observatory tower. Exposed to the elements, the floor has suffered from years of weathering, and wide cracks now run across the surface, but a faded mosaic of a giant butterfly can still be made out in the shadow of the observatory tower.
Four werewolf archers are pressed against the columns in hybrid form. They are far smaller then the primals with red fur.
The primals charge away from the temple, one bristling with arrows as they move in on Arval.

Arval Beyondane |
Arval is about to grab for his shovel again before thinking better of it. He remains a little away from the edge of the pit and waits for the animal to leave.
Vladlena |
Lena has an idea.
Agreed wolfman, as long as you answer one question. Have you seen the master of the lodge?
GM SpiderBeard |
The primal looks up at the six of you from the pit, and snarls, clinging to the edge of the pit wall with his claws. A few arrows sail from the temple, landing at your feet.
"He's the one who conspired to steal the Packlord's Heart and give it to this cultists. I imagine he is in the Stairs of the Moon with his allies the hated Dorzhanevs and the Mordinracht with their false Packlord."
The primal struggles out of the pit, staring at you.
"I will rejoin my people. If you are here to kill those in the Temple, you will be spared. If not, you will see far more than four of us."
He turns, loping off into the forest. With the primals gone, the temple stands before you. A few more arrows land in the ground in front of you, forming a neat line the archers appear to be daring you to cross.
Let me know how you wish to proceed. The bottom floor of the temple is open, just with columns holding the floor the archars are standing on. There's also the giant tower with the spiraling staircase up around it.
Eldon Appleton |
Eldon scrapes his throat. "Ahem! I daresay we run into that open building before we're rained bloody with arrows. What say you?"
"I can even speed us up, if you want, but I'm pretty confident a coordinated 'now!' will do."
Arval Beyondane |
Arval sheathes his sword and holds his shield above his head.
"On 3?"
Once the signal is given he will slowly move towards the building. Full defense, hoping to be the target
Wren the FeatherMage |
Wren readies to run at Eldon's Mark.
"Don't worry about me. This old bird can keep up," Wren chitters as she inches up.
"Let's go!" Wren sprints, following Arval.
Eldon Appleton |
"Yes, on 3! 1... 2... 3!"
Eldon runs as fast as his short legs enable him to, heading straight for the building's entrance.
Kawrock the Phoenix |
Kawrock flies ahead for the opening with the others, not wanting to be left behind. "From what that werewolf said it seems like we may have been fighting the wrong werewolves."
Eldon Appleton |
"If they wouldn't all attack us on sight, I may have cared."
Though in at least one case that may have been due to a certain elf...

You bolt southwards into the interior of the temple whilst shot with several arrows. A few find their mark.
Arval takes 8 damgae. Eldon takes 13 damage. Whiskeyjack takes 6 damage.
Out of sight of the archers, you bolt into the bottom floor of the temple.
The archways open into a cavernous, pillar-lined amphitheater of crumbling stone with high ceilings and a rough dirt floor strewn with bones. The skeletons of deer and other larger game animals hang from several of the columns, all of which are painted with crude symbols and marred with scratch marks. The southern portion of the room contains an elevated dais, connected to the earthen floor of the amphitheater by short stairs on either side. To the rear of the dais, an open archway leads deeper into the ruins.
There is a pregnant pause as you wait for something to jump out and grab you. But then... nothing.
This temple very well may be the home of the vilkacis accoridng to what you have read. If hte creature does come back, ghosts of its ilk usually are banished for several days before returning and only a day has passed.
There are stairs leading to a split level that heads into the interior of the tower. Stairs on the outside of the temple lead upwards.

Kawrock the Phoenix |
Kawrock chuckles for a moment at Lena's comment before he looks over at Arval. "Hope that werewolf bite doesn't make it easier for Arval to get possessed. That could go very badly." After pondering that for a moment Kawrock looks to Wren. "You know the most about this werewolf ghost. Is that a possibility?"
Whiskeyjack Dunaldthal |
Whiskyjack puffed as he ran, entering the doorway just behind Eldon. He waved his hand at the others to wait as he caught his breath, then channeled some of his Lord's power to heal their minor wounds. As he did, there was a ping and a rattle as an arrow he hadn't even noticed slid from its position at the gap of neck and helmet and fell to the floor.

GM SpiderBeard |
Sorry for the late post folks, I've been trying to sneak my updates in where I could today and had some long ones.
Eldon slinks up ahead, and into a hallway which ends at two rooms, one on the left, one on the right.
To the left:
The small iron portcullis that once blocked the entrance to this room has been bent to the side, allowing access to what lies beyond. The chamber might once have been some sort of private quarters, though no furnishings remain. Dirt and dust across lie tracked across the floor, and the pungent stench of rot ebbs from the room.
To the right:
This room may once have served as some sort of private quarters. Only a few pieces of rusted metal furniture remain, the rest having long rotted away. The dirt has been swept clear from most of the floor, exposing the flagstones beneath.
Map is updated.
Wren the FeatherMage |
Wren moves up to the dual rooms and examines them both while searching for magics. She lacks the bravery to go in either room first, but will scout for danger.

Arval Beyondane |
Arval feels his wounds soothe a bit. He follows the others at a slow pace, looking around the place in awe.
"This place is huge..."
He takes a few steps and grimaces at the arrow still lodged in his leg.
"Whiskey, do you have some more of that healing by accident? Better be prepared for the next fight..."
Eldon Appleton |
Eldon enters the northern room and takes a look around while casting detect magic.

Kawrock follows behind Wren. "Hello? Wren!" he calls out waving a fiery wing in the elf's face. "Do you think we should be worried about Avral facing that werewolf ghost after being bitten by a werewolf?"
GM SpiderBeard |
Eldon checks the northern room, quickly finding many tracks of humans, wolves, and hybrids over the room. The stench of rot comes from a corpse in the corner. A search of the corpse reveals a plain iron ring etched with strange symbols still wrapped around her pallid finger.
The symbols on this ring are lesser-known symbols of the Whispering Way.
The body also clutches a leather satchel containing a number of onyx gemstones of varying value, probably around 1,000 gp in total.
The onyxes are material components for animate dead spells.
Lastly, the corpse carries a map of Ustalav with several coordinates scrawled on the back.
The coordinates point out some familiar locations, and a new one. Ravengro, Lepidstadt, a location near Ascanor Lodge (probably where you are right now), and a ghost town claled Feldgrau in the Furrows of Ardeal.
With this room explored, Eldon carefully heads southwards. His detect magic spell and careful eyes pay off. Although he would have missed it otherwise, his spell indicates an aura around the southern door.
A symbol of pain spell has been cast over the southern door.
Wren the FeatherMage |
"Hello? Wren! Do you think we should be worried about Avral facing that werewolf ghost after being bitten by a werewolf?"
Wren jumps at Kawrock's loud screeching.
"Oh dearie, Kawrock! What are you rambling on about? You know how I shut out your long rambling speeches, the way you tell stories without much point? Well, sorry about that. I know I should listen, but your ramblings tend to interfere with my thinking...I do appreciate quiet you know," Wren says, trying to de-ruffle her ruffled feathers.
"There was this one man I knew...blahblahblah...always blabbering...blahblahblah...Absalom steamer on his head...blahblahblah...out of his mind...blahblahblah...'believe me, I have huge hands, the hugest' he said...blahblahblah...talking about diddling his own...blahblahblah...never could make sense...blahblahblah...thought himself much more grandiose...blahblahblah...couldn't shuck a corn if it was shoved...blahblahblah...unbelievable ignorance...blahblahblah..."
"...which brings me back to Arval and you, I suppose. What was your question again?"

Arval Beyondane |
Arval looks relieved as his wounds heal.
"I will buy one of those sticks. Seem to be going through them quite fast..."
He says as he stretches his arms and legs to feel if everything is in proper order again.
"What was it you were saying Wren? They've been killing the way?"
He looks really confused at that.
Kawrock the Phoenix |
Waiting for Wren to eventually get to the point, Kawrock watches Eldon pause at the southern door. "What is it? Do you see something?" Kawrock asks as Wren continues on with her story. Kawrock takes a moment to look at the southern door.
Perception: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (5) + 15 = 20

It just looks like a door to Kawrock. Wren is certain she saw an aura there, but can't quite figure out what it is.
