It’s time for the Azurestone Harvest Festival! The town is gearing up for their annual celebration of family, prosperity, and the change of seasons, and it promises to be quite the party. Storehouses are bursting with produce, merchants prepare to showcase their wares, and the bards rehearse all their greatest stories, for every festival-goer is ready to hear them - from the fabled exploits of the Red Raven, the noble bandit who steals from the rich and corrupt holdouts of the Galtan nobility and spends his wealth among the poor and free, to the mysterious tales of the Jarl of the North Wind, a strange creature with a fabulous treasure horde whose home only the canniest can escape.

With this festival, Azurestone marks the end of the harvest season and prepares for winter, although they’re sheltered from the worst of the season’s ravages by a remarkable artifact - the Vernal Key. No one knows where the Key came from, but they’re grateful that it locks the otherwise harsh winters of the area out of their sleepy town. But no one wonders if perhaps it’s another lock that the Key was made for, nor do they consider who else might be seeking to open a door…

Hello! I’m GM Rennai. After finishing my first campaign on these boards recently, I find myself with some time and attention freed up, and I figure, why not work on maintaining my current 100% campaign completion rate? ;) I’m preparing to run the Pathfinder module Flight of the Red Raven, a survival- and investigation-themed module that takes place starting in the town of Azurestone in Galt. I’ll be looking for 4-6 fourth-level characters.

Introduction to Azurestone:

The town of Azurestone is named for a giant tower of striking blue stone that stands watch over the area. The same blue stone snakes in veins through the land surrounding the standing stone, and mining it is one of the town’s chief industries alongside farming. Tourism is another major presence; the Deerstalkers’ Lodge is a popular destination for wealthy urbanites looking to “rough it”, and the Sahtisauna bathhouse and brewery is renowned as a great place to unwind and be pampered, especially since the town is mostly untouched by Galt’s newfound religious fervor.

Dwarves consider the stone north of town a religious relic, believing it to be a spear thrown from heaven by their creator Torag. As such, religious pilgrimages draw dwarven visitors to the area; merchants use the town as a stopping point on the way to nearby Edme, and adventurers of all sorts are drawn by tales of hidden chambers beneath the stone outside town. The Lattice Inn caters to many of these travelers, while the Sun’s Rest pub is the favored haunt of the people who call Azurestone home; it’s a great place for visitors to soak up local flavor, if you don’t mind standing out like a sore thumb.

The locals are primarily human, although a significant minority of dwarves are also present as well as a smattering of other races. Most townsfolk are miners or farmers. Azurestone is remarkable for having much milder cold seasons than the area surrounding, with a light breeze creating a tangible dividing line between the warmer and colder areas. The people of the town credit a curious artifact called the Vernal Key, a nested group of latticed orbs carved of the same blue stone as the menhir outside town, for the mild weather. The Key is kept in the town’s primary church, the Inclusive Hall, in a reliquary above the primary altar. Erastil is the town’s patron deity, but the Inclusive Hall facilitates worship for nearly all nonevil gods in the Common tongue, while the Stone Shrine, another church, provides services honoring many of the same deities in the Dwarven tongue.

Some of the well known figures in Azurestone are:

  • Ost Untamoinen, half-elf, a well-known hunting guide and owner of the Deerstalkers’ Lodge
  • Ilmanu Luuko, human, head priest and caretaker of the Inclusive Hall
  • the Lekainen family, owners of the Lattice Inn (nearly all the staff at the inn are part of the family)
  • Marja Stonehands, dwarf, hostess and brewmaster of the Sahtisauna and the town’s midwife
  • Ilda Seppatar, dwarf, high priestess of the Stone Shrine
  • Tahvo Rahla, owner of the town’s tannery
  • Antero Ikonen, human, reeve of the town council
  • Matti Jarvinen, dwarf, town elder
  • Larno, half-orc, farmer and laborer and one of very few half-orcs in Azurestone

Character creation expectations:

  • Builds will be 20-point buy, fourth level. You will level up once during the module.
  • Classes: all Paizo are allowed (although Occult classes will be a learning experience for me). I’ll consider third-party, but I make no guarantees, and I do prefer Paizo material.
  • Races: all Core, Featured, and Uncommon races will be considered, although I tend strongly toward traditional races.
  • Hit points: PFS style (max for the first die, half+1 for the following). Or, if you’re feeling adventurous, you can roll for all Hit Dice but the first in the recruitment thread (you’ll still get max for the first).
  • Traits: two traits, with a drawback allowed to take a third. See below for some campaign traits; you aren’t required to take one, but it will help with connecting to the action.
  • Alternate rules: Background Skills from Pathfinder Unchained will be used. If you’re uncertain what that means, let me know.
  • Alignment: I’ll consider any, but much prefer non-evil.
  • Starting wealth: 6000 gold. I won’t allow magic item creation feats to give you discounts on starting gear, and there won’t be time to craft in the module.
  • Hook: Your character should have a reason to be in Azurestone for the harvest festival and to care about its well-being. See the Introduction to Azurestone section above for more information about where the game starts; if you need or want more, let me know. Also, see below for a list of campaign traits, designed to help give you a reason to be in Azurestone preparing to celebrate.

Module campaign traits:

Farmhand: The harvest this year has been truly spectacular, and while your family, farmers all and dependent on the crop, are thrilled at the bounty, it has meant long hours of work to bring it all in. Whether you’re a homebody or ordinarily away from Azurestone, this year you’re here to help, and now that the work is done, it’s time to play. Your childhood labors on the farm have accustomed you to heavy lifting. You treat your Strength score as 2 higher when determining your carrying capacity.

Traveling Merchant: Your time is spent traveling with a merchant caravan, whether as a trader, a guard, a teamster, or any number of other jobs. The Azurestone harvest festival is one of your annual stops, and usually a lucrative one at that - the produce and minerals the area produces are of top quality. Traveling with the caravan has brought you into contact with all sorts of people, and you’ve had a chance to hone your skills of persuasion. Once per day, when you roll a Diplomacy check to improve a creature’s attitude, you may choose to re-roll the check after the first roll is made, but before the result is revealed. You must accept the second result.

Show-Stopper: The Azurestone harvest festival is a chance for you to show off your talent on the stage - the townsfolk are always eager for a good show, whether it be singing, dancing, or storytelling. And the skills you’ve learned for the stage transfer well. Choose one Perform skill; you may use your total modifier for that Perform skill in place of your modifier in one related skill, as per a bard’s Versatile Performance, except that you must choose one skill to receive the benefit instead of receiving it for two.

Hunter: Whether for food, for trade, or for something to do, you relish the hunt. The woods outside Azurestone prove an abundant stomping ground, and the town itself is a convenient resupply point - and a good place to relax after the rigors of the outdoors, especially with the festival in town. Unfortunately, not all of the Boarwood lies within the mildness that surrounds Azurestone, and you’ve grown accustomed to the hardship of weather. You gain a +1 trait bonus on saving throws against cold effects and a +2 trait bonus on Fortitude saves against the effects of cold weather.

Life of Adventure: You make your living as an adventurer, and right now it seems you’re between adventures. Whether you’re passing through on your way to somewhere else or interested in the fabled hidden chambers beneath Azurestone’s namesake menhir or the stories of the Jarl's fabulous treasure horde, you’ve arrived in town just in time for a celebration, it seems. The festival seems like a perfect chance to unwind, take a load off - although if your travels have taught you anything, it’s that surprises always come when you least expect them. You gain a +1 trait bonus on Perception checks.

Expectations for play:

  • You should be able to post at least once a day; I will be on and posting every day, including weekends. If you won’t be able to post once a day fairly consistently, leave the opportunity for someone who will be able to. (I am flexible when it comes to weekends depending on the players, and I understand that sometimes life happens and PbP posts drop to bottom priority.)
  • If you haven’t posted for 24 hours during combat or if your delay is holding up gameplay in some other way, I’ll GM-bot you to keep things moving. If you’ve not posted for a week without advance warning, I reserve the right to take over your character as an NPC and replace you with a more active player if appropriate. So please, do your best to let me know if you’ll be missing for some time.
  • I’ll hold myself to the same expectations for posting frequency as I do you. My posts tend to be late night/early morning American West Coast time, although I check the boards fairly frequently and may be on at other times as well.
  • I tend toward longer, fairly detailed posts, especially during non-combat periods, so be prepared for the occasional wall of text. On that same token, be prepared to put some effort into your posts as well; I don’t need novels, but I’m looking for more than “I swing my sword” every turn.
  • I don’t judge based on grammar, spelling, or writing ability, but I do want evidence of some thought put into your character. If you post nothing but a character sheet, you will not be chosen.
  • Feel free to post character information from your main alias - I won’t make you create a separate alias just for recruitment (although you can feel free to if you wish).
  • When we start play, I’ll want character sheets either in text format or with an easily accessible link on your alias. I have a character sheet template available if you don’t already have a format you prefer.
  • I’m glad to take on newer players as well as more experienced players.
  • Above all be polite, friendly, and willing to have fun and help tell a good story. There’ll be plenty of combat, but I’m looking for players who will have fun with the non-combative times as well.

Recruitment will be open until April 4, 2016 at 00:00 Pacific Standard Time; if that changes, I’ll give at least 24-48 hours notice. Good luck, and I look forward to meeting everyone!

Side note: I prefer not to have back-and-forth roleplay in recruitment posts; it quickly grows near-impossible to interact with everyone, and it makes it difficult to follow new application posts. Feel free to introduce your character in-character if you like, but please, no actual interactive roleplay.

Hi again. I want to try a class I have never had the chance to play with, a Paladin. Not sure which deity I want yet. It doesn't say they have to follow a deity specifically and I would really like to do Cayden Cailean. Obviously I would still be lawful good. I have just always loved the idea of the Paladin of the Lucky Drunk. If not I could figure out a code or maybe go with Erastil.

Sounds fun! Made a pass at a Fighter. Background and crunch is done!

Hello, Jetta here. I'm thinking of submitting an aspiring revolutionary writer, who has come to the peaceful calm of Azurestone to seek inspiration for his magnum opus. For irony, I think they would be a Sorcerer with the Imperious Bloodline. Maybe an orphan from a pre-revolutionary noble family, or somesuch.

@DAA - You know what? I'll go ahead and say, sure, the paladin of Cayden Cailean's fine if that's the way you want to go. My character in my IRL game is a paladin of Shelyn, so I've got a soft spot for non-traditional paladins, and technically it's only Pathfinder Society rules that specify that a paladin's deity has to be within one alignment step. (I'd take issue with trying to make a paladin of Calistria or something, but I can imagine a self-disciplined holy warrior that believes strongly in securing others' freedom, which screams Cayden.) I will insist on definitely good and lawful-leaning, and I will insist on a code for him/her - we can work that out over the recruitment period.

@Korvus - Looks good so far - thanks!

@Neirikr - Sounds neat! I like the flavor of the Imperious bloodline and the irony of a noble-born revolutionary, and Azurestone's definitely more conducive to deep thought and contemplation than Edme or Isarn. You won't find many other budding revolutionaries there, as Azurestone hasn't been quite so taken up in Galt's fervor as the bigger cities, but it definitely makes sense to me.

Dot!

Strongly leaning towards a dwarf Investigator-- mostly face skills, knowledges, and utility, a trap spotter and skill monkey, but I'll take the Infusion discovery so that I can do some limited buffing of other PCs.

Hey there! I just read a good bit of your previous gameplay thread and I really enjoy your GMing style. I would like to play either a gnome or halfling nature oracle or a druid. I appears that there is at least a bit of wilderness adventuring in this module and the hooks definitely involve nature/Erastil. I am not very experienced on the boards, but could easily post 1x a day (even on weekends). I will get to work on a character this afternoon! ~Jules

Hello. Looking to join a module. I shall ponder something fitting this day. Thank you.

Grand Lodge

Dot, sounds kinda fun

I am also Amund somehow that didn't show up in the earlier post. Yay! thank you oh wonderful GM I am happy. I have a some errands to run and then I will get started on it.

Dot. I'd love to play a Ranger (Skirmisher) who is a hunter hailing from the Boarwood. He's traveling to Azurestone to partake in the festivities and sell some of his game. I like the Hunter campaign trait as well. Thinking his background would involve descent from a fallen noble family who found themselves on the wrong side of the revolution. Figured he would be a good fit, particularly given the emphasis on survival that you mention in the original post!

Will work on creating the alias later today and post again once he's in a fit state.

Dotting - hey Rennai :)

I think I'm going to submit Xander again. I really enjoyed the last game, and he fits the parameters nicely. Why not continue his adventures. The fact that he'd get to level up this time is a nice perk. The poor guy's really had to work for it. :)

I'll tweak his sheet to make sure he fits your creation guidelines, but aside from a few minor changes, he'll be the same haunted investigator that you know and love.

This is Dorian Grey. I will be working on a 1/2 Orc brawler. He wonders from small fair to small festival, seeking employment as a laborer; or in hopes of hiring on as wrestler, boxer, entertainer.

@dien - Sounds perfect. I do love me some investigators, and dwarves. :) I'll keep eyes out for them.

@jules1 - Thanks for the props! A nature oracle/druid sounds perfect - I'll be watching.

@Dorian/Nathaniel - I'll definitely be watching as Nathaniel develops. One thing - if you don't plan to use Combat Expertise's ability a lot, maybe consider Dirty Fighting in its place? Completely up to you, but it's a nice little feat.

@Raltus - I'll keep eyes open!

@DAA - Oh, I know who you are. ;)

@Mjolbeard89 - Sounds great so far. Keep me posted.

@Archlich - Ohai. :)

@Xander - Sounds perfect - I was actually wondering if you were going to bring him in. You want his time in Karpad to stay canon for him? It won't give him an XP advantage, but everyone loves stories. Completely up to you either way.

Question re investigators (or any other 'spellbook' type class)-- may I assume that I can have copied extra spells to my book, before the game's start, if I deduct the appropriate scribing cost fees and have a high enough Spellcraft to take 10 successfully?

Second question: what is your GM ruling on investigators using spell-trigger items (i.e., wands?) There's some dispute/debate about it, which basically boils down to:

-Investigator is based partially on alchemist;
-Alchemist has the Alchemy class feature which explicitly allows them to use spell-trigger items (if the spell is on their class list);
-Investigator also get the Alchemy class feature, but in the text for their class feature there is no mention of spell-trigger items at all.

There's some debate over RAW vs RAI, whether this was intended or just a slip-up. Anyway, before I decide to spend starting gold on wands, I figured I'd ask what your ruling is!

Fluff:

Dengar grew up in Azurestone, his father was a tanner and taught him how to hunt and fish from a young age. His mother made and maintained the bows for the militia and for the hunters and taught Dengar how to make and craft all the supplies he would need.

At a young age Dengar befriended a family of Rams, Dengar would hunt and learn from the Ram. He would help protect the town of Azurestone from the constant upheaval that plagued Galt. Dengar would not become involved in any of the political struggles that took place, always remaining outside the town, coming in with the harvest to resupply and then back out again to test himself against the cold of winter.

Silver Crusade

Dotting for interest!

I will need to muse over concepts.

I am thinking I want to be the Chosen One. And for more than just the title. Paladins are usually trained so i think this one fits. I find the oaths interesting and would like to do the Oath of Charity It seems like a good one for a follower of Cayden Cailean. Adventure, revelry, and helping people out. I will donate money and my services :)

My Paladin would have been an orphan raised in a orphanage run by followers of the Lucky Drunk. Which is actually a thing if you did not know that. Something I have always found fascinating. Also a common feature from those raised in these orphanages is to take the surname Cailean. That info can be found in the Inner Sea Gods book in his section.

For the code I would assume it would be something like -
I shall never abuse my Gods brew and will dissuade others from doing so. I will try to council others in this regard. A mug is only to be raised in joy and celebration not sorrow.
I shall live a life worth living and telling others about.
I shall protect those unable to do so themselves and those who enslave others are my sworn enemy.
I am always brave in the face of danger and shall be a rallying point for my companions but there is no shame in retreating from overwhelming forces.
Always tip the barmaid well.

After reading though the Cayden Cailean section of the Inner Sea Gods this is what I assume the code would be. Feel free to correct and critique it. Also that section opens with a quote from Cayden Cailean's holy book, the Placard of Wisdom, Don’t let rules get in the way of enjoying what is truly good in life. I shall be a strange Paladin.

Psst. Your links aren't working.

If I may make a suggestion, the new Gray Paladin archetype from Ultimate Intrigue might be more fitting for a Caydenite. I can't imagine any of Cayden's tenets making for a very disciplined holy warrior...

Opps. Chosen One and Oath of Charity

I do not have that book yet so I cannot do so.

And I will have disciplines but not be as ridged in my actions which is what I hear most people complain about where playing with Paladins comes from.

I intend for my Paladin to be an honorable fellow, a devote enemy of slavers, convinced and willing to fight so that everyone is due freedom to do as they wish, and most happy drinking in a tavern with good company.

Depending on the interpretation of the religion you can get all sorts of people. Sarenrae has brutal fighter who show little mercy and never more than once. Also non-violent diplomats. Torag can Paladins who by their code from the Inner Sea Gods can lie to their people if it is for the greater good and rarely accept surrender, doing so only if it tactically sound not because it is the right thing to do. The main thing I have found about Cayden Cailean is that his followers are the ardent enemies of slavers, devoted to the freedom of everyone, and living a good life.

Out of curiosity is it because it is a Paladin and not a cleric? That has been the complaint I have received over the years. People seem convinced that Paladins can only be these ridged no fun having warriors obsessed with work work work and never relaxing. Palains do not go to a tavern, have a few pints, and flirt with the barmaid. And Gods forbid they take the barmaid back to their room. They are still 'people' in need of fun and relaxation.

Sorry about the not so little rant. This is a sour point for me.

Absolutely. I figure this would be his next mission after reporting in about Karpad.

@Xander - At this point, there's not much of a mission in Azurestone itself; perhaps you could be investigating rumors of treasure chambers perforating the area around the blue stone menhir nearby.

@DAA/Neirikr - FWIW, the idea of a self-disciplined holy warrior dedicated to freeing others from tyranny makes sense to me; it seems fairly consistent with both paladins and worship of Cayden Cailean, especially once you incorporate the ideal that alcohol is to be savored and enjoyed responsibly rather than consumed in excess. Some of the most lawful people I know are beer/wine snobs.

@DAA - That code looks pretty good to work with. And I was familiar with Cayden's orphanages - I actually pulled from the same concept and gave my Shelynite paladin the surname Rose.

@Neirikr - I haven't had a chance to get Ultimate Intrigue yet, and as far as I knew the stuff from it wasn't on the SRDs yet. What changes does the Grey Paladin make?

Dotting for interest.

Working on an Oread Fighter for this I think.

Silver Crusade

I'm actually thinking a vigilante from Ultimate Intrigue, a wandering Varisian performer who uses her job as a cover to provide anonymous charity and vigilante work to communities, as a way of serving The Black Butterfly.

Just checking if my question wasn't seen.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

@dien - I had just realized a bit ago that I missed responding to you - I saw it when you first posted, but didn't have time to respond, and then I somehow lost track of it later. Sorry mate! First question: Good one, and one I want to make sure other folks see the answer to. Second question: yes, I'll allow an investigator to use wands of spells on their formulae list.

@Everyone - You may have extra spells scribed to your spellbook/formula book/etc. assuming you've paid the appropriate fees for scribing and have the skill level to do so with a take 10. You may also have permanent spells pre-cast if you like (e.g. continual flame), so long as you pay the appropriate spellcasting cost.

@Raltus - Thanks! I wouldn't mind a little more on the character's backstory and personality, if you've got it in you.

@Hrothdane - I haven't had a chance to look the vigilante over much yet, as I don't have the book and it's not up on the SRDs yet. Once you get them statted up I'd love to have a look and see what the class abilities look like. It'll be a learning curve for me, but I am quite curious.

@He'sDeadJim - I'll be watching!

No problemo~

Okay boss, here's my dwarfvestigator!

I will be working on Nathaniel's backstory and equipment.

Also, I agree that is a nice feat, but combat expertise is the cornerstone of the build.

Thanks.

Personally, I think that there is a difference between devotion and discipline. Both Cayden Cailean and Iomedae are opposed to tyranny and slavery, but they have very different ways of dealing with those issues. A paladin of Abadar can enjoy wine, but they more likely do so to showcase their refinement, rather than as a way of intentionally loosening their inhibitions. Sure, you could take out all the parts of Cayden's faith that urge to hedonism and recklessness, but I feel that would also neuter the spirit that burns for freedom. Essentially, a Lawful worshipper of Cayden could still be good person, they just wouldn't be a very good Caydenite.

But you're the boss, boss! Stick to your guns. Alignment debates being what they are... :P

Essentially, the archetype makes it so that you can have LN or NG paladin. As written, they still can't worship CG gods, but that doesn't seem to be an issue here. They are less devoted, so they are weaker in some areas, but also have more room to maneuver morally. Mechanically, at these levels they get some less honourable class skills, can burn uses of smite evil to smite nongood people who are not Evil, etc.

I can PM both of you the specifics, if you are interested.

@Pick - Hooray dwarf-vestigators! Looks good so far.

@Nathaniel - And that's why I phrased it "if you won't be using the effect". :) A lot of people think of it as just a feat tax, so if that's the case I like to make sure they know Dirty Fighting is available, since it helps a lot of builds. But if you enjoy Combat Expertise, knock yourself out. (Dirty Fighting doesn't do quite as much for brawlers as it would for, say, a fighter anyway, since a brawler already has Improved Unarmed Strike, already counts as Int 13 for feats, and has incentive to pick up at least a fair bit of Dex.)

@Neirikr - Aren't alignment debates the best? ;)

I think it's that contrast that keeps discussion about paladins of Cayden popping up more than paladins of, say, Desna. Cayden's faith itself has that dichotomy built in (a god of freedom and partying that advocates against excess), and it attracts people to explore it further.

(And yes, I'd like the details of the archetype, if you don't mind. I know it'll probably be up within the next week or so, but I'm curious and impatient.)

Grand Lodge

fluff v1.1:

Dengar has always felt a draw to The Great Spear of Torag, he worships Erastil the god of the town but regularly makes homage Stone Shrine and the Gods of his people. He is a master archer but carries the maulaxe of his father as tribute to his parents.

Dengar steers clear of any involvement in the Revolution as it was where he lost his parents. Dengar was just a young man of 25 when his parents were killed during a coup Isran, they were there trading goods and became trapped between two waring sides. Dengar harbours no ill towards humans of Azurestone but he refuses to trade with any of the rest of the humans from Galt. He tends to spend more time in isolation, returning with the harvest to trade all the hides he has collected and any meats or other items he has found.

I appreciate combat expertise. I enjoy a decent touch AC...lol. Also, if I could figure a way to get consistency with concealment, then he would be going Moonlight Stalker route. I just like the flavor along that feat chain; starting with Combat expertise.

Easter family stuff, so work on background prior to deadline.

Thanks.

The dichotomy is interesting, though I always saw Cayden's call for moderation as more of a casual reminder to know your own limits. It's hardly a vow of abstinence. He's still all about getting drunk and partying, and more lawfully minded people would see your average Caydenite's moderation as excess. Not drinking yourself to death is hardly an achievement in self-restraint. :P

"Know your limits."

Now, there's something fit for the Placard of Wisdom. There is a difference between bravery and foolhardiness, and you should know when it is time to get drunk and the time to stay sober. If you want to write a 'code' for a Caydenite holy warrior, I'd imagine it looking something like that. Short and simple adages, rather than vows and commandments. Cayden is not fond of telling people what to do.

Done. I'm generally pretty adverse to loosening alignment restrictions for paladins (in case you couldn't tell), but I think they did a good enough job with it.

@Neirikr please pm me as well.

I love alignment debates but I love to argue. I do actually like yout idea for the code.

I am going to poke you now. /Would it not be a very chaotic act to engage in the wonton destruction of others property, in this example it is pottery, with no apology or offer of compensation?

Actually in Lastwall their is a very popular brothel that is frequented by the local, specifically the weary paladins back from one battle or anther. And I have seem many arguments that Paladins would never visit brothels as a patron. And about the Caydenite's while it is normal for them to have a higher toleration for alcohol there are priest who cannot hold their drink or do not drink at all. Cayden has gotten a bad rap as always being sauced. Most people that I chat with care more about his drinking than the obsession with the universal liberity of everyone and the desire to live a good life.

Cayden was a mercenary in life. So there are contracts I do not find any issue with a Paladin excepting and even requiring payment for a service. They still have expenses after all. But with a contract and the tendency a lawful person has in treating their word as their bond that aspect could easily be fulfilled.

The lawfull alignment was explained to me that the person has a deeply ingrained code that they must follow. People slip up yes butt hat is natural. You find a away to atone and fix it if necessary and move on. If they feel that laws are corrupt a lawful good person would work to correct this. That seems like something a Caydenite would do.

Also this is how I view a Paladin. And I think this is the best example of a paladin of really any code.

Hey, I have it on good authority that those pots were wanted fugitives. Nothing to see here, citizen. Move along.

As much as I love to argue, I think I'll save further debate for some other time. I don't want to fill GM Rennai's recruitment thread with off-topic banter... :P

Now to work on the most important part...her background! Thank you for the opportunity to apply! I still need to add a campaign trait (none seem to fit) and a drawback. ~Jules

Those pots were innocent :p and you beat me to the punch I was going to suggest the same.

The crunch is done. I have started the backstory, although it is incomplete at the moment. I plan on outlining key phases of his life, leading up until his time in Azurestone....

@Raltus - Thanks for letting me know about the story revision!

@Nathaniel - Cool, I'll look over crunch a little later, and I look forward to his story. Don't worry about interrupting your Easter to get it finished; there's plenty of time. :)

@DAA/Neirikr - I get it; I'm as good at thread derailment as the next person. You've seen how Bloodsworn Vale's Discussion thread has gone in the past. ;)

@Dojen Bloodmoon - I'm inclined to say no on Healer's Touch. The module isn't going to be terribly long, so chances of you completing it during the action would be pretty slim, leaving you with what would likely be a dead feat. And just handwaving completion seems a big shortcut to a way better version of Maximize Spell, especially since a warpriest doesn't have a ton of raw healing power anyway - they're designed to be more fighty/self-healy. If it was a longer campaign where you'd be more likely to complete it, my answer might be different.

@Nixie Dragonlily - The build looks pretty decent so far - I'll be eagerly awaiting some good story to accompany it. :)

Silver Crusade

This is Hrothdane

*wipes sweat from brow*

Alrighty, I got everything done except for a physical description, which I'll get up soon enough. Let me know if I forgot anything!

Here's my Crunch:

Hoss'r Stonekind: Male Oread Fighter (Phalanx Soldier)

I will get the Fluff done as soon as I can.

I am curious: Hero Points?
Some GMs like them and some don't.

@Rowena - A cat with a pet human. Having lived in my cat's house for five years now, I understand this completely. ;) Rowena looks very nice so far! I can tell the vigilante's going to take a little getting used to, and I'll have to wait a bit for the material to come out online before I can check up on the crunch too much, but it seems manageable.

@He'sDeadJim - I'll keep a look-out as the story develops. I've never used Hero Points before, so I think I'm going to go with no this time, although I do find the idea intriguing.

Apologies but i am new to this class: does one usage of martial versitility allow me to continuously change feats for the one minute duration?
I want him to be able to cover any combat situation. I would exchange extra versitility for another feat if correct.

Thank you.

@Nathaniel - Nope, you pick the feat when you activate martial flexibility and it lasts for one minute after that. If you want to change to another feat during that duration, you have to consume another use of martial flexibility.

Thats what i originally thought but just wanted to make sure.

That middle paragraph is slightly misleading in the description.
Thanks.

dotting with interest. I have a character possibility in mind but need to hit the books to see what class will fit it best.

<Submission here. I'm still tweaking the background on the profile, but near ready.

some party role stuff:
Evil eye, moderate heals, shaman spells with slight focus on enchantment... and speak with dead.
Decent party face, and can remove conditions (spirits of affliction) with a diplo check.

Fair enough, I have always felt that Hero Points are a simple enough optional rule that helps the game along a little, and gives the players a feeling they have a little more control over their destiny. The hardest part of Hero points is for the GM to remember awarding them to players for clever ideas and good role-playing (or for whatever you want really).

When my wife was running Skull and Shackles for me and our friends, she called them "Pirate Points" on and gave us points for doing interesting doing "Piratey Stuff!" It helped make the game a lot more fun because it helped get people into the spirit of things.
