Yeah, this happens every now and again. I'd do her bardic performance but I'm almost out of those as well! I know they last longer than normal but I've no idea how long the final fight will be... So I'm hoarding it. Also I'm out of magic...

Ayame watched the fight, keeping her eyes on both Tahata and Durian for signs of harm while she affectionately pet Maitoh's head.

The more arcane inclined more to make room work. Durian and Tahata come up with an intresting plan as they both have reach weapons and the statues do not. It takes some time but they can remain safe and pick apart the statues with their spears!!!

Well that is a unique solution. Going to hand wave the rolls since you can stay at a 5ft range and reach them and they cannot reach you.

After some time the statues fall and all is silent.

There is a door.

"You know I've always been told that those of more physical nature aren't as intelligent inclined, but I can truthfully say that those stories are a lie." Ayame said with a playful smile as she moved to joint them by the door. "Think there might be more ahead?" She asked.

Durian chuckles at Ayame's comments
"you don't live as long as I have without learning a few tricks here and there. i prefer getting up close and personal with an opponent, but have learned the value of a long stick for poking things!

Durian checks out the door, trying to open it to see if it is locked, and looking around the edges for signs of traps.

There is a low conversation going on but nothing you can make out.

"So... shall we knock?" Ayame asked the group. "Or, shall I introduce you?" She added with a slight smile, telling that she had an idea.

"Hunters who act without thinking don't do well among my people," Tahata replies to Ayame's good-natured jibe. He stands aside to let Durian check the door.

"Introduce us?" he asks Ayame, the glint in her eye puzzling him.

Loren waits in the back to see what the next tiny room brings.

"someone is on the other side, talking. no one has been friendly here yet, what do you say we bust in and attack first, ask questions later?

"Let me show you the bard that I am!" Ayame said with a playful wink.

With that Ayame stepped up and pushed the doors open wide with a cheshire smile upon her lips. "My foes! My enemies!" She began with her arms thrown wide. "It is with greatest pride and deepest pleasure, that I welcome you here tonight! So please relax, keep your weapon away, as Ayame Kaijitsu proudly presents... your demise!" Ayame moved out of the way so they could see her allies. Then began to sing.

"Meet, my, friends, my new friends
Who have come to secure your end,
We have come to see you go down,
Thus we rise up against you now,"

"We have Durian with his fists,
I suggest you don't get him pissed,
Then there's Loran and his magic,
On the wrong end it is tragic,"

"Last is Tahata and Maitoh,

"Don't worry, we're not shy,
Hopefully one will catch your eye,

durian looks at the woman with a very confused look and continues to be baffled as she busts in to the room where there should likely be enemies and starts.... singing??

the confusion soon gives way, though and Durian can't quite help himself from humming along. as she says his name he comes barreling into the room, feeling encouraged and ready to punch things. to the tune of the music of course

Somewhat confused by Ayame's song, but enjoying her composition nonetheless, Tahata and Maitoh enter on cue after the others. They stand aside, content to let Ayame finish, scanning the room for signs of a less-than-friendly reception.

As the door opens and you move in you are greeted by a tall blond woman and four ninjas.

The interior of this chamber has been transformed into a multilevel architectural wonder. The chamber is divided into two tiers, the upper tier lying twenty feet above the lower tier, and rotated forty-five degrees. The peak of the ceiling rises to a pyramid sixty feet above the floor. The diagonal orientation of the upper tier forms four twenty-foot-high ledges above the walls of the lower tier. A fountain issues from the southernmost of these ledges, pouring in a waterfall to a decorative pool in the floor containing several ruby-hued koi. Black lacquered folding screens have been set at various places about the room, creating a veritable maze of panels.

The all looked ready to attack but pause and listen to the song clearly confused. Still they are ready with weapons drawn.

The blond woman steps behind one of the screens but you hear her voice.

"You come in my home killing and singing? What madness is this?"

"Finally is it a big room?" Loren asks from the back.

"Yes Loren, it's a big room." Ayame called back as she pulled Suishen from his place at her side.

"I am Ayame Kaijitsu, you stole my family's blade, though I have recovered that. But there is still two things, or well people, we're looking for. Where is Ulf and Uksahkka?" Ayame demanded. "I suggest if you want to live you surrender. However no one else has in this place so I doubt you will."

Durian waits to see how they respond, but judging by the rest of this crazy place he expects a fight

Behind the screen you hear laughter and the voice changes from that of a standard northen female to a deeper gravely female voice.

There is movement and the screen falls as she speaks.

"Your family! To rich that you come to me. At least you are already underground this can be your grave and I will go back to running the guild with none the wiser."

The thoughts click and you remember that Thorborg Silverskorr) was the head of the Rimerunners guild. Clearly she has been up to more then that.

Tahata springs into action as the situation devolves, slipping around behind one of the ninjas. "Maitoh, cinah!" he shouts, bringing the wolf running into the room. He slips through the group's legs, sees Tahata and locks onto the ninja between them. Man and wolf attack as one, primal power surging through them both.

Tahata - Swift Action to use Shared Strength for +1 natural armour, Move Action to move 25ft feet, Standard Action to attack blue.
Maitoh - Move Action to move 35ft, Standard Action to attack blue.

Durian runs into the room right behind Tahata and attacks one of the enemies he can see

Tahata and Maitoh quickly dispatch one of the ninjas who dies before he even knows what happened. Durian lands a solid blow also drops one of the ninjas to the ground.

The two ninjas, on the top of twenty foot platforms, both fire shortbows down at Tahata.

Loren moves forward to close up behind Ayame.

Ayame, noticing there was no sign of Thorborg and that the remaining two ninjas where up on ledges she could only go on the idea that came to her.

Once more Ayame began to sing, this time it was a hauntingly beautiful tone with no words. It wasn't a the bolstering song her friends where use to, no this on was focused upon their enemies.

Spending a point of Bardic Performance for Fascinate, DC 16 for all enemies within 90 feet

The two ninjas momentarily pause, even though there is clearly combat near them, and stare at Ayame for a moment. Giving you that one even though the text is "The Distraction of a nearby combat or other dangers prevents the ability from working." An invisible voice yells at them to get back to work and they will clearly snap out of it son.

The ninjas are still up twenty feet so a spear will not reach them. Ayame bought you a moment. 1 Round

If the missing Thorborg is doing something you do not know what it is.

Durian searches for the sound of the voice, looking for the woman

he prepares himself again for an invisible attacker
martial flexibility, 3 of 6 for the day. swift action to gain the benefit of Blind Fight

he then throws a javelin at yellow

javelin: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18

Continuing on her song, Ayame spoke now in the same haunting tone. "Come down, come down, to the ground is where you must go. Hopefully with this tune I'll see it made so."

The DC is still D16, however only one of them gets the spell cast upon them so we'll have it be the one Durian did not just attack! I know it's a long shot but I've got one more round before she has to sing for inspire courage again.

Tahata hisses as an arrow from above slices across the back of his forearm. He lets the corpse of one of the ninjas slide from the tip of his spear as he looks around for evidence of Thorborg. Seeing none, but still suspicious of her presence, he kneels next to Maitoh. "Maitoh, axtarmaq," he mutters, sending the wolf deeper into the room.

Tahata - Move Action to use Handle Animal to try to push Maitoh to use the Seek trick, DC is 25 as he doesn't know it.

Handle Animal: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (1) + 15 = 16

Let's try again with my second action then.

Handle Animal: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (15) + 15 = 30

With a little coaxing Maitoh moves deeper into the room, ears pinned back and listening, nose to the ground to pick up a scent.

Maitoh - Move Action to move 20ft, Move Action to note the direction of any specific scent, which will pinpoint the location if he's within 5ft.

Loren withdraws a Wand of Shield and casts it upon himself.

The ninja with the yellow sash is confused and begins climbing down from this perch. He is a very talented climber and spends his turn making his way to the floor where he looks around a little confused and draws his siangham.

Durian tosses a javalin which connects as Loren casts a spell.

Tahata pushes Maitoh into the room with a command to have him look for the invisible ulfen. He moves in and looks up onto the shelf.

As Maitoh notices where the ulfen has gond there is a ripple in the air and a very different image then you expected. An orange skinned oger mage is perched on the overhang. What caused her to appear is not great for the party either as a cone of cold is blasting from her hands at the group and ninjas alike.

Wow! I met it!

Ayame winced as the cold settled into her bones.

"And now you show your true form." Ayame said as she narrowed her eyes. The oni Suishen has spoken of.

Disregarding the ninja she summoned down to the floor, leaving it to a more skillful fighter. Besides, it was she who carried Suishen and the blade deserved the right to bite back for what is said the oni had done.

Ayame ran down around Durian and stepped up onto fountains side and leapt over.

DC for the jump should only be 5 since she's jumping across but if I'm wrong please let me know.

Ayame rolled and landed next to the Oni. "You will pay for taking my ancestral sword!"

Maitoh Reflex save: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10#

Maitoh's growl alerts Tahata to the presence of an enemy just as Thorborg reveals her true form and lashes out with a blast of icy cold. Maitoh, with no time to escape, is struck by the full force of the spell and howls in pain as his flesh freezes.

"Maitoh, hücum!" Tahata instructs, moving Maitoh away from the dangerous outsider to attack the last ninja. The wolf slips slightly on the thin film of ice on the ground before leaping towards the softened-up ninja, fangs bared.

With the ogre on the ledge Tahata drops his spear and pulls his bow from across his back. Reaching into the quiver at his hip he pulls out one of the magical arrows he'd been saving for opportunities like this. The arrow crackles with energy as he nocks it to his string, takes aim, and lets it loose.

Tahata - Free Action to handle Maitoh, Free Action to drop my spear, Move Action to draw my bow, Standard Action to shoot the ogre mage with a +2 evil outsider bane arrow.
Maitoh - Move Action to move 10ft, Standard Action to attack yellow.

Maitoh bite: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25
Damage: 1d6 + 13 ⇒ (1) + 13 = 14
Trip vs CMD if hits: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18

Loren shrugs off the worst of the effects of the Cone of Cold.

He focuses and throws a Snowball back at the Ogre Mage.

reflex: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (11) + 8 = 19

Durian avoids most of the cold damage, but doesn't have a great way to reach the mage. he throws his last javelin at it

Javelin: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15
damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8

Ayame mages do avoid the worst of the cold before leaping over the pool to attack the ogre mage who is still on a twenty foot high platform. He attack does not connect.

Maitoh yelps as the cold hits him but still manages to take out the last ninja. Tahata fires off arrows but they do not connect with the ogre mage.

Loren connects with a snowball after dodging the worst of the cold. Going froward she has SR 19. I did not post so not enforcing this round.

Durian also dodges the worst of the cold but fails to connect with his javelin.

With no one really threatening her due to the 20ft elevation the ogre mage speaks before turning invisible again.

"You all are really quite the pest. So many things sent to kill you and here you are. Will no matter, goodbye."

With that she casts a spell and again disappears.

Loren pulls a flask of alchemist's fire out of his bag to throw at the ogre mage when it appears again, then he steps 5' back in the hallway.

50% chance that my magic arrow breaks, let's hope it doesn't because that would feel like a waste!
Break 01-50: 1d100 ⇒ 39 Noooo!

Tahata's arrow goes wide and shatters on the wall behind the ogre. With her elevated position and her invisibility restored Tahata begins to call on a creature to assist him. He reaches deep within himself, to the magic of the forest, sending out a mystical petition to the spirits of his people.

Full Round Action to begin casting summon nature's ally I.

"Damn it!" Ayame cursed as the oni vanished once more. Then she remembered something. "Helgarval!! You're a Cassisian. Do you have detect evil? Can you find where she is Or at least the rough area?"

"Durian! Close the doors, don't give her a chance to run!" Ayame called out. "Sorry Loren!" She shouted to him.

Durian moves over to the door but doesn't close it with Loren on the other side. he blocks part of the doorway, though, and waits to see if the mage appears again.

he looks around for ways to get on to the balconies. are there ladders or stairs, or other doors? or did the ninjas and mage just climb up? not having a lot of ways to attack at range durian hangs back

The female ogre-mage reappears on the 20ft high platform just over Durians shoulder but still out of reach. You can see she is casting a spell and this time the room goes from normal light to dim light.

"Now this is fun. No pesky great archers and me out of reach."

The ninjas were on the platforms when you came in and the one flavor climbed down to die. How the ogre is moving you have not witnessed yet."

Tahata finishes his spells as the ogre mage gloats and the light dims throughout the room. His eys adjust quickly as he directs the magic of his spell into the form of a tiny flying creature. The little insect-like beast flies towards the ogre on the ledge and tries to jab it's needle-sharp nose into Thorborg's exposed flesh.

summon monster I completes at the start of my turn and I summon a stirge to attack Thorborg.

Stirge attack vs touch AC: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13
If it hits it automatically attaches and will use Blood Drain at the end of the round to cause 1 point of Con damage.

With his spell complete Tahata drops his bow and reaches down to pick his spear back up. He channels his magic through the haft of the spear, which becomes lighter in his grip and fizzes with energy.

Free Action to drop my bow, Move Action to retrieve my spear from the floor, Standard Action to cast returning weapon on my spear.

Loren steps forward into the doorway and throws a flask of alchemist's fire at the Ogre Mage.

alchemist fire: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10

Dim light or not, he comes nowhere close.

He pulls out another flask of alchemist fire to try again next round.

"Helgarval! Can you cast daylight and get us back to normal?" Ayame asked her angel friend as she tried to think of something else to do. She couldn't attack with Suishen from below, but she could try her bow once Helgarval came through.

Move action put Suishen away with a apology, gets out shot bow as standard action

Durian looks around for something to help, either a ladder that they hadn't noticed leading to one of the alcoves or a piece of furniture that he could use to get close enough to attack with his spear.

Durian does not see anything that would help him climb up to the platform, he is right there must be a strategy but that does not appear to be it.

At Ayame's call Helgarval stirs. "Oh, sorry I had dosed off. Let there be light"" With that communication the darkness is dispelled.

Loren think to toss of an alchemist fire but holds as he cannot see the target though a wall. Not going to waste your consumable if you cant really see. She is up high and though a door at a bad angle.

Tahata picks up his spear and casts a spell as his summoned monster attached to Kimandatsu's form weakening her constitution.

First the first time the oger-mage swings her great two handed club at the insectoid nuisance which pops into a gory mess. She snarls down at you all.

"Nasty trick that but your going to need more if you want to finish the job against the frozen shadows."

Wow, this is an odd and frustrating fight.

Tell me about it! I'm completely out of magic. Down to four rounds of Bardic Performance, and a great weapon which... I am completely terrible at wielding till I get another level and take the feat for it.

"I have a sleeping angel on my head... Now there is something I never thought I'd say."
