Tahata Moonrunner |

Tahata reaches out to catch his spear as it returns to him and looks around for his target. With the ogre mage invisible again his spirits sink. "We're not getting anywhere, I think it's time to leave," he calls, feeling very negative about their chances of taking down their enemy. He moves towards the doorway, keeping his spear readied in case an opportunity to attack presented itself.
Tahata - Move Action to move 10ft, Standard Action to ready to throw my spear if the oni reappears.
Readied spear throw, Inspire Courage: 1d20 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 7 + 2 = 19

I agree Tahata, but let's move forawrd not back! if she wants to keep us from moving intot he next room she'll have to come closer!
Durian moves over by Ayame and tries the door

There is silence as your foe does not reappear yet. It is fortunate the wolves have set because he is staring at the alcove near Ayame. Her voice whispers.
"Just clear the door and I will disappear, for now."

Durian opens the door, ignoring the invisible foe, and finds AN EMPTY HALLWAY!!!!
The angles helmet mentally shrugs. 'I would prefer he dead but this is a bad place to fight her. You need to get bows clearly.'

"Helgarval, I was speaking to Suishen... The sword. Who was wronged by that creature." Ayame said. "And I have a bow! I'm just not great with it." She sighed.
"Either way maybe you're right... This hasn't been going very well."

Tahata Moonrunner |

"Maitoh, daban!" Tahata calls as he moves across the room and through the door Durian had opened. The hallway appears deserted as Tahata and Maitoh move carefully through it, ready to defend themselves should any enemies appear.
Tahata - Free Action to handle Maitoh, Move Action to move 30ft, Standard Action to Ready to attack if any enemies appear.
Maitoh - Move Action to move 30ft, Standard Action to Ready to attack if any enemies appear.

GM Red Box |

Sorry Ayame that was a GM posting w/o his notes. I got confused, to many talking items on one player. :)
Unseen to you the ogre does indeed head out the door. She stops one time, considering casting a spell but doesn't.
Tahata and Maitoh move into the hallway and see more doors.

Ayame Kaijitsu |

Lol! I know what you mean! XD
With a slightly annoyed sigh, Ayame put her bow away and continued after Tahata and Maitoh. "What rooms do you think these are?" Ayame asked as she followed after them. "Oh! How many need healing? I know a few of us took a good hit." She said as she pulled the wand out. "Maitoh is hurt isn't he?"

Tahata Moonrunner |

"We could both do with some help," Tahata replies, looking down at Maitoh's bloody fur. "Do you think she's still here, or if not will she'll come back?" he asks, looking around nervously for the ogre mage.

Loren Young |

"I feel certain that the Ogre Mage has left these rooms." Loren answers Tahata.
"I believe it paused for a moment and considered betraying us, but then it moved on."

Ayame Kaijitsu |

"Well everyone gets healing, lets face it we all look a little bad..." Ayame said as she brought the wand to Maitoh first. "And we're going to need to wash the blood out." She told the wolf as she gently worked the magic over him.

"That should do it!" Ayame exclaimed with a smile.
Wand down to 18 charges now. Gonna need to pick up another one soon.

Tahata Moonrunner |

"Much better, thank you," Tahata smiles as Ayame sees to his and Maitoh's wounds. The wolf nuzzles her side as she looks after him and gives her what might be a hint of a doggy grin.
"Let's look in these last doorways," he suggests, moving towards the nearest.

Ayame Kaijitsu |

Ayame smiled as she gave Maitoh a loving scratch behind his ear. "You're welcome." She told them.
"One can only hope." Ayame agreed with a nod.

GM Red Box |

Opening the first door on the right you find a cell. This dark cell is cold enough to cause breath to fog. Gnawed bones, animal waste, and tufts of white fur litter the floor.
Inside the cell stands a large winter wolf looking at you and letting out a low growl. In skald and then common it growls a few words.
"Too many to be another shape of my captor. What are you about."
It picks up the sent of Maitoh and its ears drop back a little as it tenses for a fight.

Ayame Kaijitsu |

"Calm, calm." Ayame said as she stepped forth. "We are not your captors, we came to find someone and get back something that was stolen. We have no quarrel with you. If you agree to not attack us, then we will gladly stand aside and let you go free."
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (18) + 12 = 30
"Do we have a deal?" She asked.

Tahata Moonrunner |

Tahata pulls Maitoh back when he sees the larger wolf raise it's hackles. He lets Ayame negotiate with the winter wolf while he keeps an eye out for an ambush, having taken Durian's warning to heart.

GM Red Box |

The wolf considers for a moment.
"You may call me Skyjin, I am in your dept and would very much like to leave this place. The one you think, he is in the next room. There is a guard of some type but I don't know what it is."

Ayame Kaijitsu |

"Well met Skyjin. I am Ayame Kaijitsu." Ayame said kindly with a respectful nod. There where stories about winter wolves after all... and this one was being nice for the moment so best to keep it that way.
"Here let me help." She told Durian as she looked for a key as well.
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21

Tahata Moonrunner |

"How did you come to be here?" Tahata asks the wolf as the others look for a way to let it out. "What can you tell us about those that captured you?"

GM Red Box |

Sorry guys. My contruction project is wrapping up on the 10th so I have been crazy at work.
"That ogre thing though to break my spirit make me a guard but that was not to be. With time she would have killed me when I did not take the bit I fear. I was captured by her foot solders in the first place, men who fought with their hands rather then weapons."
"As to the guards I do not know, not creatures like you all. I have not seen them only heard a mention, I do not think they are fierce. I can help if you feel it is needed but really, I wish to roam free and hunt."

Ayame Kaijitsu |

"He has been someone else's prisoner for long enough." Ayame agreed. "Let him return to the place he calls home. He's been kept from it long enough." She added.
If she or Durian found the key, Ayame would open the cell for him.

Tahata Moonrunner |

"Agreed. I know Maitoh wouldn't like to be kept in a place like this, and I've no doubt those of his kin would hate it just as much," Tahata says, pulling Maitoh aside from the cell door.

GM Red Box |

The wolf gives a low growl of satisfaction as he is released.
"Thank you. It is rare a two legger has been of use, it will be remembered."
He pads off to find his way out.
The final room of the dungeon, and this book, awaits. The door is locked but you have a key. Anything to do before it is opened?

Tahata Moonrunner |

"I'm not sure we're in the right state to take on more creatures," Tahata says as the wolf slips away and the group approaches the next door. "My magic is almost drained, as is that of others," he adds, looking over at Loren. "We may need to rest and recuperate."

Ayame Kaijitsu |

"If this is Ulf, we could just grab him and run." Ayame point out. "I mean we already have his things after all. Nothing wrong with grabbing and running."

Tahata Moonrunner |

"If you're both willing to push on, then I am too," Tahata replies, gripping his spear and readying himself. Maitoh senses his anticipation and rocks his weight onto his hind legs, preparing to leap forward should danger appear.
Let's do it then!

GM Red Box |

In agreement Tahata finds the door opens easily. Inky darkness fills the inside of this chamber, along with a stale, fishy smell mixed with the stench of unwashed bodies. The sound of dripping water and a low moan echo through the still air. The northwest corner of the room is flooded to a depth of 2 feet with tepid water that leaks in.
Again, it is of note, that this room is way to small for what was in it. You have to wonder how this would have worked on a day to day basis because along with a bedraggled ulfen two Blindheim move to attack.
The only light in the room is from the open door.
At least the blindheim are slow to react so there is room for one person in the room.

GM Red Box |

A blind Durian and sighted Tahata quickly take down the Blindheim and you are all able to free the blind Ulf Gormundr afer identifying yourselves as being connected to Uksahkka.
Injured, blind and abused he tells a tall of being torture for valuable insights that he might be able to provide in regard to the intricacies of the Path of Aganhei. Although the minions of the Five Storms have made the trek across the Crown of the World before, it is never without dire hazard and they have never matched the frequency or success of Ulf Gormundr.
With Ulf Gormundr as a guide, you can begin planning for the journey over the Path of Aganhei and through the deadly morozko storms as they cross the Crown of the World. He will guide you, for free out of gratitude, if you can restore his sight.
Ameiko, Sandru, Koya and Shalelu await with the caravan.
What will you do now?
Ulf Gormundr was born the son of a Varki shaman and an Ulfen whaler. Although his father sometimes took him on voyages to Kalsgard or out in the Steaming Sea, Ulf was usually left in his mother’s village in the eastern Icemark. Ulf idolized the crusty Ulfen sailors who were his father’s shipmates and always intended to join the whaling trade
hen he came of age. When Ulf was just 13 years of age, however, his father failed to return from a voyage, and word eventually reached the village that his ship had gone down in a storm at sea.
For years now, Ulf and Uksahkka have served as guides throughout the Lands of the Linnorm Kings, and Ulf has established a reputation for himself as a skilled guide along the Path of Aganhei (Uksahkka does not take part in these expeditions, feeling that to do so would dishonor the spirit of her father, who attempted the same trip and failed). Unfortunately, after a hard life of loss, betrayal, and bigotry, Ulf Gormundr has also gained a reputation as a loose cannon and difficult employee. More than one merchant guild has hired Ulf only to fire him or have him quit soon after because of some disagreement or injustice, either real or perceived. At least one of Ulf ’s employers terminated his services after he beat their factor nearly to death over the mistreatment of some Varki porters. Nevertheless, his reputation as a guide over the Crown is second to none.
