Durian doesn't speak much of his past, not because he doesn't want to but because he is not allowed to. He is an exiled dwarf, stripped of his clan name and no longer even allowed to speak of which city/family/hold he is from. He has been known as Durian the Wanderer by those who wish to call him by a more complete name, but he almost always goes simply by Durian.
He prefers to keep the company of those who don't pry into his personal life, which led him to a life of guarding caravans and other bodyguard and security type mercenary roles. He knows the area of Varisia quite well, and has travelled most of the territory. He itches to expand his horizons and travel to further lands, but has yet to find a good contract that will take him past his familiar haunts.
He sees himself as a religious Dwarf, but he does not follow any of the known gods of golarion. Instead he has (without fully realizing it) created his own diety from a hodgepodge of different beliefs and religious. He follows this new god (who he refers to as Agran) with the same devotion as many clerics, and refuses to hear anyone speak ill of his made-up religion. The tenants of Agran tend to change slighty from time to time, but generally encourage individuality, strength of arms, and the virtues of alchohol.
Durian tends to only look after himself, but deep down he is deeply loyal to those he has decided are worthy of his trust. He will not often express this in words, but he will go out of his way to defend those he cares about. However, it has been a while since he has felt that kind of loyalty to anyone.
