Moving east, you hit a fork in the road, with the corridors heading off to the north and further east. From your position updated on the map, you are unable to locate a secret door, nor hear anything further ahead, swishes or ruffles alike. You do, however, hear something chitter, from the west, as well as something answering it with a chitter of its own. Sounds like a rodent, but one of unsual size.

Due to some miscommunicae, Mortimer may have lost 15-20 feet of forward movement between round 7 and 8. Round 8 he's currently taken a 30' move from where he was relocated on the map this morning. I'm fine with this, but I thought I would mention it in case it matters under the current circumstances.
Upon hearing ROUS's, Mortimer shrugs and halts his advance.

He returns back down the corridor from whence he came hoping to find the others and retrieve a loaded crossbow.

As he turns a corner of the maze corridor, he's relieved to run into Solrisa.
"Which way did you wish to run off to next, Mort? This is fun, isn't it?"
Mortimer looks at Solrisa with concern.
"Will you" come with, no..."...escort me to the others?" He holds out an arm for her to take.
"Oh, hi. Are you O.K.? Is everyone O.K.?"
He pulls out the Perfect Palm Fitting Rock and starts fidgeting with it. "Sorry about that -- I thought I'd be able to catch it, but it was too quick. I believe it went through a secret door -- somewhere over there," he continues, pointing vaguely toward the north and east. "I couldn't locate it."
He scowls slightly. "I figure there's at least 2 or 3 of them left. Also -- there's some animal claw noises coming from over there," Mort explains, pointing north and west. "They sound like ... giant rodents to me."
He spies the dead BirdBrain at his feet, and commandeers its loaded? crossbow.

"They are right around the corner. Rae will be coming soon. In fact, you see her if you just peek your head around the corner," Sol answers with a smile.

Rae delays, moving out with the others once everyone is back together.
"Sol, get back here with the rest of us, would you?! We're trying to all stay together and little folks don't move very fast... Uhhh, no offense, Ascaria."

Pillette continues to monitor activity to the east, ready to fire her crossbow as needed. Ascaria continues to work on healing. Raella delays, expecting to move on as soon as the group gathers. Mortimer returns from his foraging, claiming a loaded crossbow upon his return. Tynan shadows Ascaria as soon as the gnome is ready to move on. Solrisa changes place with Mortimer, taking the lead, and ducking around the bend to observe more of the complex.
Kendra: "We're waiting. Don't make us come for you."

Mortimer watches the gnome's scurrying movements with the wand, and something about the scene unsettles him.
"Oh, O.K. Tynan," he says, not bothering to conceal the doubt in his tone. "Actually, I didn't get that far -- there's even more maze up there... Besides, I think Our Canary here could use a little more time to catch his breath."
"Something tells me we'll be safe for a few moments. When Canary's ready we'll carry on."

Pillette moves up the hall, taking a brief left to secure the corridor from the west. Raella advances forward to the right, ears intent on keeping her sister within distance. Ascaria heals a bit more, his concentration broken by the call of Kendra. Mortimer allows for a little more healing before proceeding. Tynan watches from the back, expecting that rear becomes front at any moment. Solrisa squares off, shielding herself from imminent strikes.
While you illuminate the open area in front of you, a birdman appears from your right, and proceeds to move through the room, and to your left, and into darkness. It looks at you, black eyes reflecting the light of your shield. On the map, its path is marked by a blue line.
From the north and east again, the voice responds to various members of the party.
Kendra: "Just follow the sound of my voice, you'll be here in no time. There are still six of you, right? Haven't lost anyone yet?"

Almost in answer to Raella's challenge, a growing scratching noise arises from the western corridors.
Looking back over your right shoulder, you see a rather large weasel working its way through a narrow hall, its black eyes reflecting the light of your shield, its teeth slowly being bared. You can also hear something similar to the north of this one.
In the fringes of your low-light vision, you see two rather large weasels working their way through narrow halls. The both of them seem aware of both you and Solrisa.
From the east, the voice of Garras reaches you moments later.
Garras: "Ah, sounds like they found you. Guess we're coming to you."

I could cast bless, but it won’t get Sol, frustrating. What about linkage? I bet Mort’s gonna get hurt, best protect him. We’re likely to get more birds too - could be a long fight. Yeah, that’s the ticket.
He eyes Mortimer* and then calls out to him and Rae, ”Come on up Mort, Rae - we’ve got some critters for you!”

He stumbles a bit at hearing the dead half-orc speak. Of all the... didn't we kill him?! Oh, I get it! Just another birdbrain.

Raella enters the more open space, overshooting her footing, and missing the large rodent. Ascaria surveys the new conflict unfolding before his clouded eyes. Mortimer strikes a weasel handily. Tynan guards the precious healer. Solrisa returns from her foray, preventing the north weasel from entering the open space.
As Mortimer strikes his weasel, and Solrisa strikes her own, both rodents gnash their teeth, and their hackles raise. They both lash out with savage bites.

You notice something in the creature, almost as soon as Mortimer injured it. It doesn't seem to regard its defense as much as it wants to lash out. It feels very... familiar...
Mortimer lands a fist into the bald spot on the side of the weasel he shares with Raella. Tynan wedges himself between a birdman and the others, narrowly missing the creature.
You see something shimmer over the creature as your blade almost surely must strike it.
Solrisa stands in awe of the large weasel, her blade hesitating to injure such a magnificent animal.

Pillette reloads and fires at the birdman harrying her from the south, the bolt nicking the wall by the creature's head.
