Charisma Rerolls: A PC can spend a Harrow Point to reroll a Charisma-based check. She must abide by the new result (although if she has additional Harrow Points remaining, she can use them to attempt additional rerolls).

Destiny Shall Not Be Denied: A PC can spend a Harrow Point as an immediate action to force the GM to reroll a d20 roll. She must abide by the new result (although if she has additional Harrow Points remaining, she can use them to force additional rerolls).

Psychic Wrath: A PC with levels in a class that grants bonus spells based on her Charisma score can spend a Harrow Point to increase the power of a spell from that class’s spell list as she casts it. She increases the spell’s DC by 2 and gains a +4 bonus on caster level checks to overcome spell resistance and a +2 bonus on attack rolls for that spell.

Roll Card: Gain a +2 bonus on all Charisma-based checks. In addition, he treats his caster level as if it were 1 higher when casting spells gained from a class that grants bonus spells based on his Charisma score.

"I'm not versed in that skill. But I think we'd have enough of that skin to create such a coat. But I'm not sure if he could put that to goo duse, or if we only hurt ourself, when fighting in close areas." Tyrandro ponders. "How about making one for your piglet? It is in much greater danger or being grabbed and such a coat would be a nice protection againt that."


Ayako can hear the wind blowing outside and a number of high pitched voices chittering and spitting foul words that Ayako doesn't understand in Infernal. Mushu smells creatures that smell like the barbed devils but not exactly the same.

"I'm fine on the ground." Tyrandro replies. "And I have no clue how Fluffy will react to flying."


The door opens to an open air causeway (15 ft. long and 5 ft. wide) that looks out over the rest of the castle below. The railings appear to have been sharpened to a razor sharpness. The causeway ends at a locked and heavily reinforced door on the side of a round tower rising up through the center of the castle. (DC 40 Disable Device to unlock the superior lock otherwise the reinforced door is [hardness 5, hp 90, break DC 35]).

The voices Ayako heard stop as soon as the door to the causeway opens although whoever opened the door senses a brief fluttering of wings. Mushu still smells devil nearby. There is also a strong smell of devil beyond the locked doorway but no sounds inside.

"For once you have a good idea." says Sial. "I am also capable of summoning such a creature. In fact, I can do one better and summon an Erinyes which possessed true seeing. Although I need to dismiss Asyra to do so." He turns to Asyra. "I'm sorry, my darling. I know you loathe the Shadow Plane but you lack the skills required for the task at hand. Now begone!"

With a wave of his hand, Asyra discorporates as she is banished back to her home plane. Sial then concentrates on opening a portal to the second layer of Hell and pulls forth an erinyes to serve is will.

The erinyes scans the area with a scowl. "Imps, it says in disgust. Five of them. It will not take long to dispatch them."

The erinyes begins firing arrows at the invisible foes. One is killed and becomes visible before falling 20 feet and splattering on the roof below. A second one is injured as well. The imps begin screaming but remain invisible. Unfortunately, the erinyes cannot overcome the imps' DR and imps are immune to fire. One imp takes 16 damage (after DR) and dies. A second one takes 4 damage.

"One down. Feel free to leave them to me. They cannot harm me and they cannot escape."

I don't think we need to do initiative for this encounter. If you want to participate in fighting the imps you can. The four imps are still currently invisible though. Otherwise, the erinyes can deal with them.

"I probably could have done it. But now the keyhole is too large for my tools." Tyrandro comments on Iolana's action.


It doesn't take long for the erinyes to dispatch of the remaining imps who attempt to flee from the overwhelming odds. But with flight of its own, the erinyes does not allow any to escape.

Iolana disintegrates the door leaving the path inside open to you.

The interior of this tall, hollow tower is silent and menacing. A full forty feet overhead, an opening at the tower’s peak lets in light, as do the arrow slits set into the walls, yet nothing seems capable of dispelling the gloom of ancient evil that looms here. A shallow pool of stagnant water from past rains has formed in the center of a floor that is largely empty of furnishings. Near the far wall slumps a wide bed swathed in rotten and moldy bedclothes. The bed hangs a few feet off the floor, supported at its corners by chains hanging from a series of iron support beams above. To the side, a large gilt throne stands upon a short dais before a series of manacles inset into the floor. A nearby fire grate, long cold, holds a collection of branding irons and other torturer’s tools. A series of alcoves climbs the walls of this tower in an ascending spiral. Within each stands a statuette, art object, or polished skull.

Sitting rather uncomfortably upon the gilt throne is another barbed devil (since I can only assume, barbed devils' anatomy does not lend to sitting down well). You can't see anything else in the tower but echoing hoots and howls from above tell you otherwise.

The erinyes looks up and shouts, "The barbed devil is a ruse. Above are two bones devils and an ashmede devil." No sooner does the erinyes speak does combat break out. Being a devil itself, I'm allowing the erinyes to correctly identify the other devils.

Ayako's previous spell has not worn off yet. It does not need to be recast. The haste from the previous fight still has a few rounds too. Full list of active effects to be posted below.

If you look at the map, the tower is a hollow tube but I'm utilizing the three dimensions so that all the tokens are not piled on top of one another. The middle circle is 20 feet up and the top circle is 40 feet up.

One of the unseen devils above sucks the moisture out of each of you. You watch in horror as your bodily fluids rise up out of your bodies to the darkness of the upper tower. Horrid Wilting (The devil does not become visible from using this ability)

In addition, the devil emits an aura of fear, visible or not, that currently catches Sebastian and the erinyes in its area. The erinyes stares down the devil without blinking. Will save DC 19 or cower in fear for 1 round.

Tyrandro unloads on the barbed devil and pins it to the chair before it can get up. Upon dying, this devil vanishes in a puff of acrid smoke. The barbed devil takes 164 damage and dies. It was summoned so it vanishes.

One of the bone devils appears on the ground in front of Sebastian. The erinyes drops her arms in disgust. "Seriously?" it says. "It's an illusion." True seeing sure is nice.

The other teleports and intentionally breaths its fetid breath heavily on the back of Sial's neck. "One is right behind me!" Sial shouts with fear but holds his ground. The bone devil also has a fear aura, although with a much smaller radius that the ashmede devil. Only Sial is currently affected.

Iolana outlines the bone devil behind Sial. While it shakes the glitter out of its eyes, Sebastian moves up and stabs it once. Bone Devil (2) takes 39 damage.

The erinyes fires a volley of arrows at the bone devil behind Sial and manages to hit once. However, her attacks are not very effective against other devils. Sial uses his summoner ability to swap places with the erinyes and get out of harms way. Bone devil (2) takes 3 damage.

Chain Lightning Damage: 12d6 ⇒ (3, 5, 1, 4, 6, 6, 3, 5, 5, 6, 3, 3) = 50

A bolt of lightning shoots out of an arrow slit in the wall above to strike Tyrandro. It then chains out from him hitting each off you in a line. Chain Lightining. Everyone takes 50 damage. Reflex save for half. Tyrandro's DC is 19. Everyone else's DC is 17. Everyone also gains a +4 bonus to their Reflex saves for cover. And +1 from haste.

Sial: Reflex Save DC 17: 1d20 + 5 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 5 + 4 + 1 = 15
SR vs. Erinyes SR 19: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (3) + 12 = 15

Although away from the bone devil, Sial can't escape Nihil's chain lightning and is nearly incapacitated. The lighting fails to affect the erinyes at all. Sial takes 50 damage. That puts him at 1 hp.

Round 2

Tyrandro kills the bone devil coated in glitterdust with his first two shots. It becomes fully visible and collapses to the ground before it gets its chance to attack. Unlike the barbed devil, its body does not return to Hell upon death. Bone Devil (2) takes 78 damage and dies.

Tyrandro is free to then turn his remaining arrows towards the open arrow slot where the chain lightning originated from but the size of the window and the awkward angle are too difficult for Tyrandro to overcome and his last three arrows clatter off the tower wall. Through the arrow slot the ashmede devil has improved cover (+8 AC; Total AC 38)

The remaining bone devil dismisses its failed illusion.

The erinyes informs you, "Beware. The second bone devil vanished from the tower, likely teleported, but its destination is not within my view."

Ayako heals Sial back to full health.

"Thank you." says Sial in a rare case of acknowledgement. "Two can play at this game, methinks. Let's give that devil a taste of its own medicine." Sial moves next to Tyrandro and casts greater invisibility on him.

Erinyes: Ranged Touch vs. Nihil's Touch AC 22: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (18) + 15 = 33

The erinyes flies up off the balcony to the ashmede devil's window and throws an animated rope through the gap. The rope tightly wraps around the devil's body to its frustration. Nihil gains the entangled condition.

Iolana and Sebastian can choose new actions for Round 2 if they wish or they can hold since the bone devil was killed by Tyrandro.

I'll post an action for Nihil in Round 3 in a little while.

Correction: Tyrandro's arrows do pass through the window because of his amazing talent with a bow and one might have even hit the devil if not for the pesky invisibility.

Damage: 2d6 + 11 ⇒ (6, 1) + 11 = 18

The entangled ashmede devil easily cuts through the rope with its scythe (but uses its action for the round to do so) and moves away from the window.

While Tyrandro waits, the unseen bone devil creates a wall of ice in the hallway, blocking your only exit from the room.

With nothing to see and shoot, Tyrandro flies off to a position, where he can't be shot through the arrow slits.


Round 3

The central portion of the tower has windows in six directions. (NE, E, SE, SW, W, and NW). There are no windows facing north or south. Instead there are ornamental blade-shaped protrusions. Tyrandro flies up to the southern one and perches there, safe from attacks.

Ayako heals herself. Iolana casts fly on herself.

Sebastian holds. He also currently has fly cast on him if he wants to maneuver somewhere.

"The ashmede devil is still in the tower just above the stone wall." says the erinyes. It then flies up to the top of the tower to the open skylight to get a clear shot down at the devil. The arrow hits but not hard enough to pierce its infernal skin.

Nihil flies upward and sunders the erinyes' bow. Its scythe cleaves through the weapon and into the erinyes chest injuring it as well. The erinyes' bow is destroyed and takes 4 damage after DR.

"It's upon me!" The erinyes calls to Iolana to indicate its new position.
