101 to 135 of 135 << first < prev | 1 | 2 | 3 | next > last >>

I don't think I've seen so many foresty/elves among such a small number of applicants....

And yes, echoing hustonj - pick those that will work for your story!

Lekkric18 - aegis/soulknife (Punchy)
Nintos Melinos IV - knight (Chargy)
Illia - soulknife (Sneaky)
Jesse Heinig - wizard (Casty)
Oceanshieldwolf - wilder (Blasty)
HustonJ - cleric (Healy)
TheNine - undecided (Pointy-Eary)
DJPika - bard (Screechy)
Gerald - (psychic?) Psion
[/b]Daniel Stewart[/b] - evoker->fighter (Boomsmashy)
The Goblin - ranger (Shooty)

Okay, for a heroic fantasy journey, ending with the confrontation of Baphomet at 20th level -- so it actually gets into Epic Fantasy past level 10.

  • hustonj -- cleric.
  • Nintos Melinos -- Cavalier.
  • Jesse Heinig -- Wizard
  • Daniel Stewart -- Evoker/fighter
  • DJPika -- Bard

Runners-up:
Lekkric18
Illia
TheNine
Gerald
Oceanshieldwolf
The Goblin

Will those chosen report to the Discussion thread for Zero Session goodness. Where you create your characters' likenesses and where we tie all your backgrounds together, as you all know each other. I'm going to purchase Return to the Keep on the Borderlands in order to get the story started. It's a 2e adventure, but it should do well.

Happy campaigning, those who got in, and best of luck in future recruitment, those who didn't. :)

Excited to start this journey! Most campaigns I have been part of only get in that level 12-14 range. So I’ll have to say that ending at level 20 sounds exciting, and ending with Baphomet is even more exciting!

Thanks for the pick!

Ok! Let me know if someone drops out, Akeirin will be here...

good luck you guys

Actually, Jesse Heinig hasn't checked in yet.

Hmm. Jesse is a good player, and seems reliable - maybe just wait for them to reply. I'll put a message on the game I'm in with them.

Gerald's Psion might fill a wizard-y role, or perhaps the Nine's "pointy" could be an arcane caster.

Sovereign Court

Sorry, sorry! I went camping on the weekend and thought I would have internet signal, but I didn't, and my S.O. has been keeping me busy and I have not had more than a minute to check the boards today. Trying to check in now.

Recruitment Open

This is your chance to play in a Greyhawk campaign. Starting with return to the Keep on the Borderlands. We need a frontline combatant -- alright we need a tank. We lost our frontliner a while ago. This is your chance to play in a campaign that will last long.

Scarab Sages

I was in your runner up list, I can make up a pretty decent half-elf fighter in next to no time, do you want new dice rolls? what level?

Grand Lodge

I am very interested. My home GM wants to run a Greyhawk campaign, and I would love to get some extra exposure to the environment.

This shield dwarf/front-liner was created for PFS, but I would love to restyle him for Greyhawk.

I'll tinker with him and post an updated character and backstory tonight.

About Me: I am a dedicated and highly available player. Multiple posts a day is normal, even on the weekends. Check my profile to see any of my past games (especially with this character).

Everyone is still level one. They are about to descend into the Caves of Chaos.

Eltonj,

I am very interested. I would like to run a paladin/fighter type who worships Bahamut. It is a little different but hear me out. Raised in the country side of Keoland he grew up farming and tending to the needs of his family. A neighbor and good friend to all the local farmers spent time telling the boys stories of good overcoming and triumphing over evil. Stories of compassion and forgiveness in the face of great adversity. Eventually the man become his mentor and friend raising him on not only these stories but a belief system and dogma that would infuse into the young man's core being. The young man gained a deeper wisdom and soon found himself wondering more about the world. His mentor challenged him at every turn to hold fast to what is good and to stand up to the cause good and to help those in need. He was taught to not seek out a fight but when needed to stand in the front and serve with courage and honor. Pointing out simple examples around them and in the community to drive home lessons. He made the boy train as often has he could. When he reached adulthood he made the same walk to his mentor's as he always did...but this time the man's home was empty. On the table a note that simply read...

"Stay true to yourself and the beliefs of Bahamut. The Grandfather of Dragon's will protect you on your many journey's. Be stern in the face of Evil. Be compassionate to those in need and dispossessed. Be emphatic to the downtrodden. Be ready to forgive before you punish. Seek not to fight but be ready to do so in the name of good."

With that was left the symbol of Bahamut. As he walked out he noticed the ground in front of the small house was sunk in and in the center were four large foot prints...of a dragon? The trees around the house were bent away as if winds bent them. Since that day he as walked the path of the Master of the North Wind.

Bahamut; Holivian Tales

The plan would be to be paladin / fighter mix. I might take an archetype but I will need to flesh him out a bit tonight as this was off the top of my head.

I took the idea from this portion of the above link:

"Cleric Training
Bahamut’s few nondragon clerics learn the Platinum Dragon’s teachings at the foot of a dragon, usually an older gold or silver dragon in humanoid form. The relationship is one of teacher and student, with the duo typically traveling to see the effects of injustice and cruelty firsthand."

Stats:

1 4d6 ⇒ (6, 1, 5, 4) = 16 (15)
2 4d6 ⇒ (3, 3, 1, 3) = 10 (9)
3 4d6 ⇒ (5, 2, 1, 2) = 10 (9)
4 4d6 ⇒ (2, 2, 3, 6) = 13 (11)
5 4d6 ⇒ (3, 1, 4, 4) = 12 (11)
6 4d6 ⇒ (3, 6, 4, 3) = 16 (13)

Bahamut;...

Very interesting. This is a good write up on your character's background. And good stat rolls to begin with.

...

I will have a character by tonight for you to review.

Here is the basics for AllenDM's character as well as Alias.

I will get the details together tonight for you to review. Basically setting him up to be a front liner who can also support the party if needed. The divine defender aspect gives the Paladin the ability to provide better defense to the party as he advances in level.

I have no intent on him being lawful stupid...my picture of him would be Good before Law...as he strives to live by the Code of Bahamut. Young, genuine, brave, but not foolhardy and deeply faithful to those he calls friend.

I will work on the rest of it tonight and tomorrow for you.

Alright. Can you three post your characters' backgrounds by Tuesday? That's your deadline, Tuesday.

Grand Lodge

Here is the reworked background for Reidog.

Background:
In the days before the Twin Cataclysms, the Blessedstone clan of dwarves lived in a great stronghold in the mountains now known as The Hellfurnaces. They were a respected clan, making some of the best weapons and armor available in Oerth at that time.

When the cataclysms struck, and the volcanoes started to erupt, the clan was forced to flee into the tunnels connecting the stronghold to the Underdark. Most of the clan's wealth and nearly half of its people were lost in the flight or to the various horrors of the deep tunnels.

Several times, the clan attempted to resettle, each time eventually forced to abandon the settlement either by swarms of refugees, bands of raiding orc mercenaries, or other misfortunes.

Eventually, they found a place in the Yatil Mountains in present day Perrenland. The stronghold was unattractive, but defensible making it a perfect place to kepp the clan safe while they attempted to reassert themselves.

Many years later, the clan is once again gaining some fame and respect. Mining produces much of value and raw materials for the smiths.

Reidog, and his family line, have always been defenders of the stronghold. His father Dedmun trained Reidog and his brothers Brulgumin and Nomroir in the arts of axe and shield as soon as they were strong enough to pick up a wooden practice blade, and each was entered into the army in short order.

Relative safety and growing wealth has led to a life of some boredom and Reidog has begun to dream of glory. Named after one of the greatest warriors of Blessedstone lore, Reidog the Red, he has often dreamed of himself accomplishing great deeds. Setting his pragmatism aside, he decided to set out in an attempt to learn more of where his ancestors came from. He now dreams of one day finding what remains of the ancient Blessedstone tunnels and the wealth that must remain there still.

Personality:
Gruff and laconic, Reidog will never be regarded as a friendly dwarf. He is impatient with people who seem to be making simple mistakes, but he gives respect where it is due.

He has long been told stories of the Human wars that caused the downfall of his people, and views them with distrust and disdain. He knows that trade with humans is important, but sometimes lets his predjudices show.

Stat Rolls:
Stat 1: 4d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 1, 5) = 17
Stat 2: 4d6 ⇒ (3, 4, 2, 2) = 11
Stat 3: 4d6 ⇒ (1, 2, 3, 2) = 8
Stat 4: 4d6 ⇒ (4, 1, 5, 3) = 13
Stat 5: 4d6 ⇒ (5, 2, 1, 6) = 14
Stat 6: 4d6 ⇒ (4, 1, 1, 6) = 12

16, 9, 7, 12, 13, 11. Not great rolls. That 7 will likely go in Charisma and get knocked lower...

Eltonj,

Here is his background and a bit about his personality. I am still working on a completed character.

About Fergus::
He is a tall man of strong Flan blood and a hint of Oeridian blood from his mother's side. He has blonde hair that is well trimmed and a shaved face that doesn't see a lot of growth on it. He a broad-shouldered young man with lightly tanned skin, dark blue eyes and an understanding smile. He tends to listen more than he talks but is more than willing to give his opinion if asked. He has learned, from countless lessons, it is better to have one's ears and mind open instead of your mouth. He appreciates laughter, a good story or song, and cares little for arguing over silly things. He values hard work and admires those with the skill to craft well made items. He has never been wealthy and often spends his coin on others. He spends his time in morning hours as the sun rises to pray and reflect. He then spends time practicing and cleaning his gear. He attempts to spend a bit of each day attending to other's needs. He likes being around people he considers friends but cares little for the company of those he sees has troublemakers. He has been known to put his gear down and help a farmer with the many chores around a farm when he travels and that seems to quickly endear him to those families. He makes friends easily due to his friendly and helpful nature. He doesn't flaunt his beliefs instead he lives by example as best he can. Asked about his beliefs he gives them freely and does not bother to judge people by their reactions. He himself struggles with is beliefs and at times questions things around him.

He views his belief as a relationship with Bahamut just as his mysterious mentor taught him. He is young and at times naive to the ways of the world but his good nature and honest demeanor allows him to see things for what they are when needed.

Background:

Raised in the countryside of Keoland just north of Woodsage. He grew up farming and tending to the needs of his family. A neighbor and good friend to all the local farmers spent time telling the boys stories of good overcoming and triumphing over evil. Stories of compassion and forgiveness in the face of great adversity. Eventually, the man becomes his mentor and friend, raising him on not only these stories but a belief system and dogma that would infuse into the young man's core being. The young man gained deeper wisdom and soon found himself wondering more about the world and everything around him. His mentor challenged him at every turn to hold fast to what is good and to stand up fort the cause of good and to help those in need. He was taught to not seek out a fight but when needed to stand in the front and serve with courage and honor. Pointing out simple examples around them and in the community to drive home lessons. He made the boy train as often as he could.

Fergus loves his family deeply but felt that this was a calling for him and that has taken him away from his family. The youngest of five children and the third boy his father knew he had a desire to leave after his mentor left. He encouraged him to find his way in the world and when ready to return to their home.

Character road map:
1> Paladin (Divine Defender)
2> Fighter
3> Paladin (Divine Defender)
4> Fighter
5> Paladin (Divine Defender)
6> Paladin (Divine Defender)
(will review and adjust as we progress based on story line and character development)

Looks good, both of you. I wish the Nine was posting. I got a suggestion to take both of you, but we'll see.

Significantly better specialty stat roll than I got for the Cleric. Just sayin'!

Your stat set is a 12 point buy, mine a 13 point buy. AllenDM's is a 10 point buy.

I calculated 11, but that is irrelevant.

Yes, a 16 is good as the primary score. Not really a complaint, just worse than I am used to. I'll just have to really ramp up his ornery dwarfishness to validate that 5 Charisma...

Scarab Sages

Sorry had a personal issue come up this weekend and ended up having to watch my best friends kids, His wife was on medication that well ended up with a suicidal episode. Yay drugs! Anyhow I'll get right on it :)

Making a Suel cavalier will have him up in no time.

I may have counted the 7 as a -3 instead of -4. <shrug>

Will be done within a half hour, sorry for the delays, Im not going to add the race bonus to my stats, I rolled well enough as it was.

starting gold: 5d6 ⇒ (4, 2, 2, 3, 1) = 12

About Talenvere:
Talenvere is a young man thoroughly enchanted by the world and not ready to be thrust into one of politics and duty...just yet. He is tall, broad, and handsome, with fine blond hair kept pulled back and bright blue eyes. He is quiet, though quick to laugh at a joke or join in to help with someones troubles. While not greedy, each year its harder for his family to meet the kings taxes and he hopes to find a way to fix that before he returns.

Background:
The Steelguard name goes back into the heights of the Imperium. That fact was drilled into Talenvere's head from his earliest days. His ancestor Atruval Steelguard was the commander of a distant fort when the Backlunish brought down the rain of colorless fire and destroyed much of the empire.

Already tired of the wicked ways of his people, his ancestor led his men, their families and any who would go across the the Hellfurnaces into the Flaeness long ago. What remained of those families were almost scattered when the Oeridians invaded.

They settled in what was to Nyrond and eventually came to rule the lands around the small town of Greenplane. As the fifth son in the family he literally was given a choice, the clergy or training for knighthood. His love of animals made him choose the martial route.

He has been on a personal "quest" the last year, traveling the lands, learning about the world. Things were going fine, almost perfect really until his squire took ill dying suddenly in the night. He spent the majority of his coin on a traveling merchant, shipping young Tomas' body home. There was a nearby cave you see, said to be haunted and filled with treasure...at least thats what the old innkeeper had said. Its not that he didnt want to do the right thing and return the boy home himself you see, its that he knew if he returned he was liable to never be able to leave again... and he hadnt found enough riches to help his family yet. He wondered what sort of chaos could possibly be in this local cave. It couldnt be that bad.. right?"

Should be finished I hope i made the deadline. If not everyone have fun. :)

You got to the deadline. Looks like Third is the only NPC of the group.

All three of you are chosen. You may post in the Gameplay thread and introduce yourselves.

I got confused by this for a moment.

By "max 1st level", were you referring to HP? I read it at first as Max Starting Gold, but since everyone else is rolling...

Gold: 5d6 ⇒ (3, 2, 4, 6, 2) = 17

I'll need to edit my equipment a bit.

Edit: Easy enough, just swapped Chainmail for Scale mail

Will have opening post up within the hour

Alright. I meant maximum wealth for your level, but it can mean maximum hit points as well. There is a lot of gold in the Caves of Chaos.

Grand Lodge

Ah, ok. I wasn't confused after all, I just thought I was confused.

I'll switch back to the chainmail. in that case.
