Will those chosen report to the Discussion thread for Zero Session goodness. Where you create your characters' likenesses and where we tie all your backgrounds together, as you all know each other. I'm going to purchase Return to the Keep on the Borderlands in order to get the story started. It's a 2e adventure, but it should do well.

I am very interested. My home GM wants to run a Greyhawk campaign, and I would love to get some extra exposure to the environment.
This shield dwarf/front-liner was created for PFS, but I would love to restyle him for Greyhawk.
I'll tinker with him and post an updated character and backstory tonight.
About Me: I am a dedicated and highly available player. Multiple posts a day is normal, even on the weekends. Check my profile to see any of my past games (especially with this character).

Eltonj,
I am very interested. I would like to run a paladin/fighter type who worships Bahamut. It is a little different but hear me out. Raised in the country side of Keoland he grew up farming and tending to the needs of his family. A neighbor and good friend to all the local farmers spent time telling the boys stories of good overcoming and triumphing over evil. Stories of compassion and forgiveness in the face of great adversity. Eventually the man become his mentor and friend raising him on not only these stories but a belief system and dogma that would infuse into the young man's core being. The young man gained a deeper wisdom and soon found himself wondering more about the world. His mentor challenged him at every turn to hold fast to what is good and to stand up to the cause good and to help those in need. He was taught to not seek out a fight but when needed to stand in the front and serve with courage and honor. Pointing out simple examples around them and in the community to drive home lessons. He made the boy train as often has he could. When he reached adulthood he made the same walk to his mentor's as he always did...but this time the man's home was empty. On the table a note that simply read...
"Stay true to yourself and the beliefs of Bahamut. The Grandfather of Dragon's will protect you on your many journey's. Be stern in the face of Evil. Be compassionate to those in need and dispossessed. Be emphatic to the downtrodden. Be ready to forgive before you punish. Seek not to fight but be ready to do so in the name of good."
With that was left the symbol of Bahamut. As he walked out he noticed the ground in front of the small house was sunk in and in the center were four large foot prints...of a dragon? The trees around the house were bent away as if winds bent them. Since that day he as walked the path of the Master of the North Wind.
The plan would be to be paladin / fighter mix. I might take an archetype but I will need to flesh him out a bit tonight as this was off the top of my head.
I took the idea from this portion of the above link:
"Cleric Training
Bahamut’s few nondragon clerics learn the Platinum Dragon’s teachings at the foot of a dragon, usually an older gold or silver dragon in humanoid form. The relationship is one of teacher and student, with the duo typically traveling to see the effects of injustice and cruelty firsthand."
Stats:
1 4d6 ⇒ (6, 1, 5, 4) = 16 (15)
2 4d6 ⇒ (3, 3, 1, 3) = 10 (9)
3 4d6 ⇒ (5, 2, 1, 2) = 10 (9)
4 4d6 ⇒ (2, 2, 3, 6) = 13 (11)
5 4d6 ⇒ (3, 1, 4, 4) = 12 (11)
6 4d6 ⇒ (3, 6, 4, 3) = 16 (13)

Bahamut;...
Very interesting. This is a good write up on your character's background. And good stat rolls to begin with.

I will have a character by tonight for you to review.
Fergus DraganCara |
Here is the basics for AllenDM's character as well as Alias.
I will get the details together tonight for you to review. Basically setting him up to be a front liner who can also support the party if needed. The divine defender aspect gives the Paladin the ability to provide better defense to the party as he advances in level.
I have no intent on him being lawful stupid...my picture of him would be Good before Law...as he strives to live by the Code of Bahamut. Young, genuine, brave, but not foolhardy and deeply faithful to those he calls friend.
I will work on the rest of it tonight and tomorrow for you.
Reidog Blessedstone |
Here is the reworked background for Reidog.
When the cataclysms struck, and the volcanoes started to erupt, the clan was forced to flee into the tunnels connecting the stronghold to the Underdark. Most of the clan's wealth and nearly half of its people were lost in the flight or to the various horrors of the deep tunnels.
Several times, the clan attempted to resettle, each time eventually forced to abandon the settlement either by swarms of refugees, bands of raiding orc mercenaries, or other misfortunes.
Eventually, they found a place in the Yatil Mountains in present day Perrenland. The stronghold was unattractive, but defensible making it a perfect place to kepp the clan safe while they attempted to reassert themselves.
Many years later, the clan is once again gaining some fame and respect. Mining produces much of value and raw materials for the smiths.
Reidog, and his family line, have always been defenders of the stronghold. His father Dedmun trained Reidog and his brothers Brulgumin and Nomroir in the arts of axe and shield as soon as they were strong enough to pick up a wooden practice blade, and each was entered into the army in short order.
Relative safety and growing wealth has led to a life of some boredom and Reidog has begun to dream of glory. Named after one of the greatest warriors of Blessedstone lore, Reidog the Red, he has often dreamed of himself accomplishing great deeds. Setting his pragmatism aside, he decided to set out in an attempt to learn more of where his ancestors came from. He now dreams of one day finding what remains of the ancient Blessedstone tunnels and the wealth that must remain there still.
He has long been told stories of the Human wars that caused the downfall of his people, and views them with distrust and disdain. He knows that trade with humans is important, but sometimes lets his predjudices show.
Stat Rolls:
Stat 1: 4d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 1, 5) = 17
Stat 2: 4d6 ⇒ (3, 4, 2, 2) = 11
Stat 3: 4d6 ⇒ (1, 2, 3, 2) = 8
Stat 4: 4d6 ⇒ (4, 1, 5, 3) = 13
Stat 5: 4d6 ⇒ (5, 2, 1, 6) = 14
Stat 6: 4d6 ⇒ (4, 1, 1, 6) = 12
16, 9, 7, 12, 13, 11. Not great rolls. That 7 will likely go in Charisma and get knocked lower...
Fergus DraganCara |
Eltonj,
Here is his background and a bit about his personality. I am still working on a completed character.
He views his belief as a relationship with Bahamut just as his mysterious mentor taught him. He is young and at times naive to the ways of the world but his good nature and honest demeanor allows him to see things for what they are when needed.
Raised in the countryside of Keoland just north of Woodsage. He grew up farming and tending to the needs of his family. A neighbor and good friend to all the local farmers spent time telling the boys stories of good overcoming and triumphing over evil. Stories of compassion and forgiveness in the face of great adversity. Eventually, the man becomes his mentor and friend, raising him on not only these stories but a belief system and dogma that would infuse into the young man's core being. The young man gained deeper wisdom and soon found himself wondering more about the world and everything around him. His mentor challenged him at every turn to hold fast to what is good and to stand up fort the cause of good and to help those in need. He was taught to not seek out a fight but when needed to stand in the front and serve with courage and honor. Pointing out simple examples around them and in the community to drive home lessons. He made the boy train as often as he could.

The trees around the house were bent away as if winds bent them. Since that day he as walked the path of the Master of the North Wind.
Fergus loves his family deeply but felt that this was a calling for him and that has taken him away from his family. The youngest of five children and the third boy his father knew he had a desire to leave after his mentor left. He encouraged him to find his way in the world and when ready to return to their home.
Character road map:
1> Paladin (Divine Defender)
2> Fighter
3> Paladin (Divine Defender)
4> Fighter
5> Paladin (Divine Defender)
6> Paladin (Divine Defender)
(will review and adjust as we progress based on story line and character development)

Your stat set is a 12 point buy, mine a 13 point buy. AllenDM's is a 10 point buy.
I calculated 11, but that is irrelevant.
Yes, a 16 is good as the primary score. Not really a complaint, just worse than I am used to. I'll just have to really ramp up his ornery dwarfishness to validate that 5 Charisma...

Already tired of the wicked ways of his people, his ancestor led his men, their families and any who would go across the the Hellfurnaces into the Flaeness long ago. What remained of those families were almost scattered when the Oeridians invaded.
They settled in what was to Nyrond and eventually came to rule the lands around the small town of Greenplane. As the fifth son in the family he literally was given a choice, the clergy or training for knighthood. His love of animals made him choose the martial route.
He has been on a personal "quest" the last year, traveling the lands, learning about the world. Things were going fine, almost perfect really until his squire took ill dying suddenly in the night. He spent the majority of his coin on a traveling merchant, shipping young Tomas' body home. There was a nearby cave you see, said to be haunted and filled with treasure...at least thats what the old innkeeper had said. Its not that he didnt want to do the right thing and return the boy home himself you see, its that he knew if he returned he was liable to never be able to leave again... and he hadnt found enough riches to help his family yet. He wondered what sort of chaos could possibly be in this local cave. It couldnt be that bad.. right?"
Should be finished I hope i made the deadline. If not everyone have fun. :)

I got confused by this for a moment.
By "max 1st level", were you referring to HP? I read it at first as Max Starting Gold, but since everyone else is rolling...
Gold: 5d6 ⇒ (3, 2, 4, 6, 2) = 17
I'll need to edit my equipment a bit.
