Round 1
Xianae gets partway down the ladder and sees four goblins with shortbows waiting in the room. Fortunately, they seem to be temporarily distracted by a large bug crawling on the wall. The room is 10 feet wide by 25 feet long. The goblins are at the far end by the opening of a low dirt tunnel leading in the direction of the back of the manor.

Sorry, just realized I wasn't clear on Xianae's move. She has enough movement to get to the bottom of the ladder with a double move. She would see the goblins when she got partway down, but I'm assuming she wants to go to the bottom. So, with that said, Coran, you can also go down if you choose and would need to if you're going to touch her. But, there won't be room for anyone else. I'm also fine just ruling that you cast on her before she headed down the ladder since there was plenty of time (in which case you have another action if you so choose.
Xianae
I would have gone to the bottom yes, I would have also held up 4 fingers once I saw the Goblins, so that anyone looking down from above would see there are 4 things here.
Coran, while I appreciate the thought and hate to turn down any assistance, Roman has already cast Shield of Faith on me. So it would be a wasted spell, thank-you anyway.
Roman Fomin
Roman follows Xianae into the opening, trying to keep quiet.
Stealth: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (18) + 9 = 27
He drops onto one knee and draws the bow string, but does not open fire until more people are down there or until the goblins spot them.
Roman will delay his attack until anyone shows intention to engage in melee, then he'll shoot.

Jo, for a minute I thought there was room, but re-reading Roman's action, he has headed down, so there is no room until he and Xianae have a chance to move forward.
Roman, my understanding of delay and ready does not allow you to do part of your turn and then take the rest. So, you could delay until after Jo or the goblins. Or you could ready an action based on the goblin's behavior. Or you can move down and fire an arrow. But you cannot move down the ladder and then ready an action based on the goblin's behavior. I'll hold on resolving the goblins until I know which way you prefer to go.

Jo descends the ladder and waits seeing four goblins with shortbows trained on he and Xianae. Roman drops to the bottom and fires an arrow at the goblins, but in his haste, it fires a little too high and clatters against the wall behind them. The goblins shout with glee and four small arrows come arcing back.
Attack (Shortbow vs. Roman) 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19
Damage (Shortbow) 1d4 ⇒ 3
Attack (Shortbow vs. Roman) 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
Damage (Shortbow) 1d4 ⇒ 1
Attack (Shortbow vs. Jo) 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
Damage (Shortbow) 1d4 ⇒ 2
Attack (Shortbow vs. Xianae) 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
Damage (Shortbow) 1d4 ⇒ 1
One of them finds a crack in Roman's armor. The little green imp dances up and down in glee, apparently forgetting the rest of the plan as the other three dart back disappearing into the tunnel.

Hmmm... Sorry, my dot disappeared from this thread, and did not update when GM/Lictor Lane made his 'baddies' post, so I did not know that there had been any movement on this thread :-/
Byron fidgets impatiently at the top of the narrow shaft.
"Oh I say! Move aside, so the rest of us can make it down..."
Delay until there is room to make it down the ladder, and then move forward, weapon drawn.

No worries Byron. I wonder if the same may have happened to Emmett. Since we have restricted space and neither you nor Emmett have much by way of buffs to offer, I'm going to move us to Round 2 so that Xianae and Roman can move forward and make room for the rest of you.
Round 2 Xianae, Coran, Roman, Moondark, Jo, Baddies, Emmett, Byron
Xianae
I stand where I am, "Naki ni ztreki ny foi trui!" After saying something in a strange, aggressive sounding language I move to the first Goblin.
Move 3 spaces directly in front of me, so I am standing next to the Goblin diagonally.
I have cast True Strike, hopefully this time I will get to use it.
Emmett Escheus
Emmett's head is dipped in water, or so it seems for a moment, as stimuli comes to him in a muffled, distant echo of themselves. He stares in disbelief at the slain bodies of the goblins, finding humanity in their dead monstrosity. In a way, he knows he's responsible for the carnage. He didn't hold the blade, but his actions have been a part of the slaughter.
He hesitates further, wondering if Westcrown needs to burn, flames fuelled by idealism and blood, in order to be born again...
A yell makes him snap out of it. His mind pushes his body to move. He makes it to the top of the stairs, ready to go down after everyone.
Lost my dot... Sorry! It's great to be back!

I'm Jo
Jo will move down the ladder and follow Xianae to within reach of the goblin (as long as Roman does not block me). Jo will attack the goblin if he can.
Let me know if he can.
Emmett Escheus
Emmett will summon all his courage, and with shaking hands, will go down that ladder, into the darkness...
Drama!

Roman takes a step forward to make room for Jo. At the same time, he nocks another arrow to his bow and fires at the goblin, but in his care to avoid Xianae, another shot misses the goblin and ricochets off the wall.
Attack (Masterwork Composite Longbow (Str +2), Point Blank, Melee) 1d20 + 6 + 1 - 4 ⇒ (9) + 6 + 1 - 4 = 12
Damage ((Masterwork Composite Longbow (Str +2), Point Blank) 1d8 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 2 + 1 = 11
Jo descends the ladder and moves forward to face the goblin, bellowing and threatening to smash the goblin. but unable to quite get an attack off this round.
Moondark gets down the ladder and prepares to snap off a quick crossbow bolt.
Meanwhile the goblin shrieks with terror at the appearance of Jo. It drops its bow and tries to stab him with a tiny arrow which snaps into splinters when it strikes Jo's improvised armor. With a squeal, the goblin bolts for the tunnel. Attacks of opportunity for Xianae and Jo.
Attack (Arrow, Improvised Weapon) 1d20 + 2 - 4 ⇒ (13) + 2 - 4 = 11
Damage (Arrow) 1d3 ⇒ 1
Emmett descends the ladder to stand next to Moondark.
Round 2 Xianae, Coran, Roman, Jo, Moondark, Baddies, Emmett, Byron
Xianae
Attack of Opportunity Attack: 1d20 + 24 ⇒ (10) + 24 = 34 (+20 for True Strike, -1 for Power Attack. Both already included.)
Attack of Opportunity Damage: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11 (+2 for Power Attack already included.)
Moondark
|
Moondark keeps her crossbow trained on the passage waiting for the first oversized green head to show. "Scouting what? We already know there's a mob of goblins ahead and I'd rather keep Joe between them and me. Personally, I think the scouting thing is overrated in enclosed spaces like this. You just end up swarmed and alone with nowhere to run to."
I've lost more rogues that way... ; )
Byron Radanavich
Byron clears his throat uncomfortably.
"I am afraid that I must concur with Moondark. We know that there are Goblins down there, and they know that we are coming. We should proceed as a group. Let's keep moving."
Emmett Escheus
"I'll gladly cover our back!"
Emmett Escheus
That Faelar fellow is Xianae.
