I'm ambivalent on question 1. We can rock with 5 players.
I'm always a fan of scenarios, but once again. Either way is good.
I'm still level 6 after this is complete.

![]() |

I'm totally cool with 5 or 6, so long as #6 fits in nicely.
I'd probably go scenario if I had to choose at this point.
Frankie just leveled so he'll be 5 still.

GM Ladile |

^Thanks for the input.
(Frankie, you're up late tonight!)
I also seem to remember Serge's player expressing a preference for scenarios the last time I posed this question, since it's easier to step out of the action for a scenario if life gets busy than it is to do so in the middle of a module.
I do have a potential replacement in mind - Gummy Bear - who expressed interest in bringing their Wizard (Enchanter) 6 along if we decided to recruit a 6th.
With the change in player composition it's looking like we've got a few more scenarios opened up to choose from, mostly some of the really early 1-7s and some of the later 5-9s.

![]() |

Scenarios do make swapping out GM duties easier. Even if it's only for a once in a while break for our Great Lady.
QC is going Slow Track so as not to out pace everyone, and is currently only a 1/2 XP into his current level.

![]() |

Either adding a 6th or keeping it to 5 is fine with me, I think you should make the call, GM.
Yeah, I still prefer scenarios for my earlier reasoning. Thinking on it a little more, this is the only PFS game I'm playing in and I'd really not gotten much of a chance to play most of the scenarios before PF2 came out.
Serge will be at 14 XP after this scenario, so not quite enough to level up.

Not actually knowing much of anything about archaeology, I had to look that one up - but so it is! Today I learned.

Just graded a bunch of my student's final exams. Don't worry, I have students who still make that mistake.
Easy way to remember... Shards of Glass, Pottery Shards. SGPS. Make up your own mnemonic device (my own isn't safe for public use).

![]() |

Damn indeed. Sorry. Seemed like a good idea at the time. I'm going flying now (writing this from the cockpit during preflight while we wait for fuel). Gonna sleep when I land, & will post in the AM Korea time.

GM Ladile |

Well, to be fair, MOST haunts are pretty much just 'everyone in the area takes damage/suffers bad juju and that's it' in terms of mechanics so it makes sense for someone's reaction to be to GTFO.
I'll try and keep things clicking along but I'll be a little busier than usual this weekend with family stuff.

Trying to picture what is going on. So Caller knows that the room is filled with magical darkness that pretty much obscures everything right? And can he hear his friends? Trying to figure out HOW MUCH Caller can assume is happening out of his view.

GM Ladile |

^Correct. Looking into the room is basically like looking into a black void at the moment. You (and Quang Chi, prior to entering the room himself) can hear the others but their voices sound distorted, as though they're coming from underwater or a long distance away.
(About to get started on an update now.)

GM Ladile |

Alrighty folks, as we're coming up on the end of the scenario I'm going to go ahead and ping Gummy Bear to check in here so we can hammer out what scenario is up next. After having adjusted the group over on the PFS Session Tracker and inputting the level range of the group (5-7) I'm seeing the following options:
#0-14 The Many Fortunes of Grandmaster Torch (1-7)
#0-16 To Scale the Dragon (5-9)
#1-43 The Pallid Plague (1-7)
#1-51 The City of Strangers, Pt. 1 (1-7)
#1-52 The City of Strangers, Pt. 2 (1-7)
#1-55 The Infernal Vault (1-7)
#4-13 Fortress of the Nail (5-9)
#4-14 My Enemy's Enemy (3-7)
#5-03 The Hellknight's Feast (5-9)
#5-07 Port Godless (5-9)
#5-18 The Stranger Within (5-9)
#5-24 Assault on the Wound (3-7)
#6-02 The Silver Mount Collection (3-7)
#6-03 The Technic Siege (5-9)
#6-21 Tapestry's Toil (5-9)
#7-17 Thralls of the Shattered God (5-9)
#8-15 Hrethnar's Throne (5-9)
#9-15 The Bloodcove Blockade (3-7)
#9-17 Oath of the Overwatched (5-9)
#9-21 In the Grandmaster’s Name (3-7)
#10-11 The Hao Jin Hierophant (5-9)
#10-19 Corpses in Kalsgard (5-9)
If anyone has any special preference towards one scenario or the other, please let me know!

![]() |

Couple inputs. I'm not asking to play these, just letting y'all know about character swaps if we do.
#4-13 Fortress of the Nail (5-9): Will swap to Lady Vanessa due to the storyline of the scenario. She's a level 7 non-healing diplo-mancer oracle.
#9-21 In the Grandmaster’s Name (3-7)*: I GMed this at PaizoCon 2 years ago. We won't need an archer, and I've been saving it to have Lady Vanessa do it. Not for the storyline, but for the amaaaazing RP possibilities for someone like her. She's been demanding that I take her on a wine-tasting vacation, and you know how she can be.

Gummy Bear |

Hello :) Looks like I'll be joining y'all, at least for a probationary game!
The more talking the better for the character I have in mind and any that have a tie in to sovereign court/royalty would be prime! I have a preference for later scenarios since they tend to have more built in versatility in terms of how things get solved.
Would the new game be in this thread or will there be a new one created? Just for dotting purposes.

GM Ladile |

All the action happens here in this campaign, much like it does over in the TL;DR game!
After having worked all night I'll leave you fine folks to weigh in as you see fit while I get some sleep. Updates and other input from me to follow later this evening :)

Welcome, Gummy Bear, hopefully not the sugar free variety. :-)
No preference on scenario here - happy to play any.

![]() |

This does remind me to update my PFS tracker, but looking through the list none joke my memory as ones I've played recently.
Frankie is up for any and all adventures!

Vosk Lazav |

Dotted in! I've got to update the profile, but I'll get that done today.

Vosk looks like the kind of man Frankie's Mom told him to avoid.

![]() |

I am good. I have more than a couple characters that could be worked into various scenarios.

GM Ladile |

Alrighty, since there aren't too many stated preferences either way - just some potential character swaps - I'll comb through our list of options over the next couple of days and pick something.
I'm admittedly sort of leaning towards one of the 5-9s in the interest of bolstering one of my own characters with some GM credit but we'll see what scenarios speak to me the most :)

![]() |

Sounds like a perfect plan. If any involve completing this faction goal, even the better:
(0/1)Defeat a known slaver whose Challenge Rating is at least equal to your character level. For the purposes of this goal, use the definition of slaver from the Freedom Fighter reward.
(1/1)In a region where slavery is legal, deliver a speech against tyranny, slavery, or corruption to a crowd of at least 20 participants. Doing so requires a successful Diplomacy or Perform (acting, comedy, or oratory) check (DC = 15 + your character level).
(1/2)Fulfill one of the goals above on an Elemental Plane or in pursuit of the freedom of a creature with the air, earth, elemental, fire, or water subtype. Checking one of this goal’s boxes doesn’t prevent you from checking one box for a different goal.

GM Ladile |

Yes, you're right - slipped my mind. We'll adjust accordingly.

GM Ladile |

Hey folks, your GM has been on the busy side the last couple of days but I'm aiming for an update later this evening~

GM Ladile |

Well that round of combat sucked...
*patpat*
Happy July 4th to those of you in/from the US and Happy Saturday to those of you elsewhere or those that opt not to celebrate!
This is my weekend off (yay!) but otherwise no special plans on my end except maybe trying to enjoy the sunshine a little bit when it's not too terribly hot :)

![]() |

How high up would you say the level Serge is on is vs. ground floor, GM?

GM Ladile |

Since the description of the room only mentions that the walkway is slightly elevated I'm going to say that it's no more than 5 ft off the ground at the most.

![]() |

@GM: You know I love you, and I'm not quibbling, but I gotta ask about Red's DR. Not what type it is, and I'm not trying to Meta here, but the numbers don't add up. Maybe it just needs a math check.
In the start of Round 3 post, Red was -17. Both arrows hit, for 10 and 15 damage. In the next GM post, Red was at -24. That makes Red's DR value = 9. (10-9=1, then 15-9=6, 1+6=7, which matches 24-17.) I don't think I've ever seen that before, but who am I to say.
Serge then hits it for 21 damage, and Red then shows -32. Which means his DR value on that hit was 13. (32-24=8 damage went thru. 21-8=13).
I hope I'm missing something. :)

GM Ladile |

Well...there's DR in play but there's something else in play that also factors in after the DR applies. Note the comments about Blue that have been following after Red takes damage :)
This secondary factor is also the thing that I forgot to apply during your Round 1 barrage (I accounted for the DR) so that might also be throwing a person off if they're keeping track of the damage.

![]() |

Ah, now I get it. I hadn't made the connection on the Blue-Red interaction. See, I was missing something :) Why did I ever doubt you?

GM Ladile |

No worries! If I can, I like to try and give hints on stuff like that - especially if it's something visual that you might actually SEE happen or notice. Pretty sure Thog is gonna notice that his axe is not super effective against something with DR/Piercing, for example, or that the holes Stabby McGee keeps poking in an enemy are trying to mend themselves :)

GM Ladile |

So I've got our next scenario narrowed down to four potential candidates that seemed most interesting/intriguing to me:
#1-43 The Pallid Plague (Save the fey!)
#4-14 My Enemy's Enemy (CSI:Magnimar)
#5-07 Port Godless (Fun times in Rahadoum)
#6-03 The Technic Siege (Technic League entanglements)
Once we have a winner I'll get started on prep :)

Vosk Lazav |

Preferences in order from top to bottom:
4-14
5-07
6-03
1-43

![]() |

1-43 (Did someone say Fey?) is my top pick. No preference on the remainder.

![]() |

No huge preference for me. I have always wanted to try some of the tech type scenarios but not sure Frankie would be the best choice, it would all just go way over his head.
We do have a fey history.
I also haven't done much/anything? in Rahadoum.
Sorry if that doesn't seem to help.

![]() |

I do agree the fey thing would be appropriate given Meredith's archetype.

GM Ladile |

Tell you what - in the interests of theme we'll do Pallid Plague next. Being a Season 1 scenario the combats will prooooobably not be a huge challenge for you guys, even in the 6-7 tier, but I hope to balance that out with some hopefully-entertaining roleplay.
After that, we'll either do My Enemy's Enemy or Port Godless depending on what levels everyone is at. MEE is a Season 4, which is broadly known for being a more challenging season of scenarios and PG is a Season 5 which is known for featuring occasional demons.
As the group levels up and we're able to start some of the 7-11 scenarios I'll hopefully be able to better answer the requests for more Liberty's Edge/sticking it to slavers content and/or Sovereign Court content :)
*edit* This is my weekend to work but after Monday night I have a whoooooole week off from work; with a bit of luck I can get us started on Pallid Plague during that time period.

Vosk Lazav |

Works for me! This is a more a reminder for me than anything else, but Vosk will be scribing Charm Fey and Hold Fey into his spellbook for our next adventure.

GM Ladile |

And we're basically done! Feel free to make your closing/reporting posts to Valsin and I'll work on getting your chronicles done later today.
We'll start up with Pallid Plague in a few days :)

GM Ladile |

Hey guys, I've got the bulk of the chronicles done but I do need Day Job rolls for anyone that's got a Day Job.
(Forgot to ask for them yesterday, d'oh.)
Also if there's anything you'd like me to note on your chronicles re: Faction Journal cards and the like.
Game *has* been reported though :)

![]() |

Instead of a Day Job, I'd like to complete this goal:
0/1 Forgo your Downtime to aid to people recently freed from slavery or another form of oppression. Doing so requires a successful Craft, Heal, or Profession check (DC = 15 + your level) or a donation of resources worth 100 gp per character level.
I'll pay 600 gp.

![]() |

Sleight of Hand, Take 10: 10 + 15 = 25
Frankie the candy mogul makes off with another stash of the under appreciated 'warheads' from Absalom and sells them at a fine profit to the Shoanti children!

![]() |

As a reminder, Quang Chi is going Slow Track for now so as not to outpace everyone else.
Day Job, Survival: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (18) + 11 = 29
