As with most people in this recruitment, if anyone wants to intertwine back-stories I am happy to do so. Maybe you met Jamir on the rooftops, got him to pass a parcel on for you often? If you want him involved with your back story I am happy to allow it.
Also I have only just realised that they have updated the campaign traits! I will stick with the one I have chosen because I like the backstory I have written, even if the bonus it gives me isn't that useful.

GM question...
I figure this is a bilateral interview process. Many GMs when looking for players will consider posting history etc. I do the same on GMs.
You have been on the boards for 3.5 years and have only 44 posts.
What assurance do we, the players, have that you have the longevity and will to stick with this over the long haul?

Fair question.
This will be my first PbP game on this forum, but I'm currently running another one on giantITP which has been going since August. I haven't done many PbP games, but I have been doing live games with tools like Roll20 and D20Pro for many years, and my longest was over two and a half years, so I'm pretty able to stick with one for the long haul.

Leezzâ |

Here is my submission for Leezzâ . She is a dual-cursed, spirit guide oracle. She will be a healer, monster summoner, fire evocationist, diplomat, and knowledge scholar. She is a pretty versatile character with flexible spellcasting, but negligible weapon skills. She was tramatized by being burned alive by Gaedren Lamm, years after Lamm had murdered her entire family in a massive fire. She is a little crazy and hell-bent on avenging her family.

Leezzâ came from a wealth family that perished a fire the night before her older sister's wedding. Following the fire, she was enslaved by Gaedren Lamm as a one of his "lambs". After years of beatings and service to the old man, she rebelled; running away and hiding in the seedy streets of Korsovo until she was discovered several weeks later. That act of defiance cost her dearly. Leezzâ was tortured for two days, then set on fire in a public square in Korsovo for all the other Lambs to witness the cost of betrayal to Lamm.
Vividly and horrifically re-living the fire that took her family was too much for the young girl. She succumbed to the fires and was left for dead, but she survived; partially recovering in the healing houses of Sarenrae. From the experience, Leezzâ has lost a bit of her sanity. She has begun hearing voices and thoughts that guide her. She believes many of these voices are that of her family, trying to help guide her through life before she goes to meet them in the afterlife.
It is her family that she will aide as a Spirit Guide. She also believes the monsters she summons are reincarnations of her extended family; aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents, etc. She also constantly talks to Dolfo, her valet and personal servant. He too perished in the fire, but Leezzâ is steadfast in her belief that he is, in fact, quite alive and still working for her. She relies heavily upon Hobraun to carry her things as her fragile body cannot take the burden.
She isn't very talkative but is very gracious when she engages in conversation. She is quite oblivious to the fact that she is going crazy. She has become somewhat known in Korsovo, but her beginnings are unknown to all, except those in the temple that aided her following the burning. Although respected, people will tend to keep their children away from her. While she isn't harmful, her strange, quirky ramblings and batter are often off-putting to commonfolk.
She carries a walking stick (handbo) that belonged to her father and in a small pouch on her belt she has a silver brooch of her mother's, small clay doll of her younger sister's, a small knife of her older brother's, a pipe of her paternal grandfather's and a nightcap of her maternal grandmother's. These items are very precious to her, and she reacts very strongly to anyone that attempts to handle them.
Five things about her background
1. Leezzâ was born into a wealthy family that had a very profitable shipping business in Korsovo, as well as a country estate closer to the west.
2. She had considered becoming a priestess of Abadar in her youth. She had gone so far as to temporarily live and work in a temple in Magnimar during her tweens.
3. She spent most of her young life before the fire at the country estate with many cousins and extended family. It was here that the fire took all of their lives.
4. Her family perished two years ago in an horrific fire at their country estate the night before her sister's wedding. Leezzâ blames Lamm for the fire and is tormented by the loss of everyone she loved. She has begun to hear the voices of her ancestors in her head. This has been driving her slightly insane. She keeps a bag of a few trinkets that she found in the ashes of the fire. Each "treasure" is that of one of her closer family members.
5. She is a very social person who still fancies herself the daughter of a wealthy merchant although her family's money is now gone and she was orphaned. At times, she hallucinates that her family and servants are still with her. Talking to them as though they were right next to her.
Two Goals
1. Leezzâ greatly wishes to "go home" (that is, repurchase or reclaim) her families home in Korsovo.
2. She also wants to find "treasures" of her family. She lost several family members in the fire and has nothing to remember them by.
Two Secrets
1. Leezzâ knows that the fire was set by Lamm, although she has convinced herself that it was her failure to prevent the calamity that haunts her.
2. She does not know that there was another survivor of the fire.
Three People
1. Ghrezzd - A kindly old priest of Sarenrae who lived at the temple in Korsovo while Leezzâ lived there. They formed a close bond as he was a tutor and advisor to her before he left the temple to travel and to experience the world.
2. Foramdar - An old friend of Leezzâ's father in Korsovo. He was a trained warrior who owed a life-debt to her father. Foramdar often taught Leezzâ's older siblings the art of war and sword-fighting. Foramdar is unaware that Leezzâ survived the first fire, much less the burning at the hands of Lamm.
3. Gaedren Lamm
Three Memories
1. Growing up in the country estate with a small river flowing through the grounds. There was a spacious garden with winding paths that Leezzâ and her siblings use to play.
2. Hearing the screams of her family as the fire swept through the manor. She was dropped from a second story window by her father before he went back for her younger brother. Neither her father nor her sibling reappeared at the window. She watched in silence as the fire spread and the window was engulfed in flames.
3. Seeing the charred remains of her family in the morning sunlight as she searched for signs of life. Only a few people were identified, including her parents and several siblings who were huddled together in the master suite.

Silvio Slate |

Here's Silvio Slate, a little Lamm who has worked for him to make Shiver. He's had a few false starts in other games, so if something seems off, it might be a hold over.
Silvio Slate's first memories are of being beaten in the orphanage. He grew up in Madame Origenna's orphanage, starving and having to hide food and hide himself to avoid being beaten. Arcadius and Maretha were the only friends he had. If it wasn't for them, he would have died there. Maretha was older and helped care for him, and Arcadius was stronger and could protect them. After several painful years of begging, hunger, and beatings, the three were bought by Gaedran Lamm and taken away.
Life as a 'Little Lamm' was better, but Silvio soon learned pain could come in other ways. He became a errand boy for Lamm, delivering good around the city. Soon Silvio learned what was inside the packages he would give to people. Shiver. As he grew up, Silvio moved from delivery boy to working in the Shiver labs and met Kilain. Kilain Beltran was a chemist to help Lamm make the Shiver. He saw Silvio's brightness and helped the boy become an apprentice. Silvio took to the chemicals quickly and soon began helping Kilian produce more of the addicting drug. Over time, Silvio was exposed to Shiver more and more. Cuts on his hand would get Shiver into them and he would breathe in the noxious fumes. Eventually Silvio himself was addicted, but Kilain and Lamm kept him working. Knowing Arcadius and Maretha were still in Lamm's clutches was often the only reason he could force himself to continue.
Silvio is a thin young man. He has brittle blond hair, a telltale sign of his exposure to Shiver, but he doesn’t seem to have the shakes that most do. Growing up as one of Gaedren’s little Lamms, he has adopted an unassuming posture to stay out of the way and he tries to remain out of the spotlight most of the time. The fingers on his right hand refuse to straighten, clearly having been broken badly in the past. He can easily still grasp things, and he’s learned to be quite deft with his broken hand, but it’s a constant reminder of the consequences of life.
Silvio ducks his head entering the small hovel. He slings his bag into a corner and steps quickly down the stairs. ”You’re late, boy!” A gravely voice startles him, making him stiffen. Silvio spins around and finds Kilain staring at him from the shadows. The young man relaxes just a bit. ”Kilian, damn it, you scared me half to death. Listen, I’m sorry, there was a cart that got stuck on the street and-”
”Shut up! I don’t care ‘bout no damned cart! Get to work!” The older man shouts at him and then shoves Silvio up against the wall. The man’s rotten teeth and breath make Silvio gag. ”You’re lucky I don’t beat you here and now. You’re getting too smart for your own good, Silvio. Lamm and I might just need to knock that out of you.” He pulls the blond haired, young man around and shoves him towards the back room. ”Now get to work!’
Silvio stumbles and rushes into the back room. He closes the door behind him as the familiar noxious fumes fill his nose. ”You liar, Silvio. There was no cart was there? You want him to beat you? Break your hand again? Where the hell were you?” It’s a thin voice, muffled by the mask Sasha is wearing. Silvio looks over to the half-starved teenage girl, her hands trembling a bit as she holds a lit tindertwig. The shaking was from the shiver, though it could just a well be from the fact that she probably hadn’t eaten since yesterday.
Pulling out half a roll from his pocket, he puts it on the table near her and he grabs his own mask. He had breathed in more than a lifetime of the shiver fumes, but every little bit helped. At least he no longer shook like Sasha did. Either his body was used to the exposure or it just hid it better. Sasha grabs the roll and tears into it, gulping down bites and finishing it in a matter of seconds.
”I know, I know, Sasha.” Silvio glances back and sees that they’re alone. The other two tables were empty for now, but he saw the equipment going. The others must be taking some of the product to the storehouse. Silvio and Sasha rarely went because they were more useful in the lab. ”I needed to check on Arcadius. I hadn’t seen him or Maretha in over a month. I was worried something had happened to him.”
”Well, you’d better forget that for now. I heard Kilain talking earlier. I think Gaedren’s coming to visit.” Silvio nearly drops the glass vial he’s holding. He turns around and stares at her. ”Gaedren’s coming here!” Sasha nods, trying to seem nonchalant about it, but he knows she’s just as scared as he is. ”That’s why Kilain was so nervous about you not being here. You think Kilian will work you over? Gaedren might just kill Maretha if he found you missing.”
Silvio shakes his head and tries not to think about it. ”Yeah, makes you miss the days when he just let us go hungry, huh?” Sasha laughs for a moment, but then breaks into a fit of coughing as she breathes in the fumes. He smiles and then sighs. ”Ok, if Gaedren is coming, we need to get to work. He’ll want to see the latest batch.”

True that. Really looking forward to the selection, and strongly hoping to make the cut.
Fair disclaimer: I have DMed the first book of this adventure before, but am dying to play through it myself. I have the utmost confidence in my ability not to metagame. I am only passably familliar with the plot of the rest of the adventure path, but not with the details of it.

Garrett grew up Korvosa his entire life, he joined the guard when he was able too. Growing up with 3 other siblings 1 of which being a half elf like himself made things a bit funny for his family at times. People always though that Garrett and his sister were adopted or that his parents had taken pity on some Elven female who had been raped by some savage in the wild parts of Varisia.
Garrett resent all the heat that came his way at times by having "mixed blood" or being just half as good as a normal person because who wants muddled blood. Garrett took to drinking to help him cope with his rising anger at people, this is what got him so deep into trouble.
One day while down on the Docks Garrett had taken his Niece out for lunch on a day off, while sitting and watching the ships in the harbor someone started in on him about being a filthy half elf. This person went so far as to insult his niece. Garrett flew in to a rage, attacking the man and nearly killing him before some sailors could stop him from the act. Once the rage had settled, Garrett remembered that his niece was with him. No one had seen her or saw her leave. Garrett panicked, started accusing people of kidnapping. Once the guard had arrived Garrett pulled in all the favours he was owed to no avail. His niece was missing and his family hated him for it.
Garret then joined up with the Sable Company, hoping that being up in the clouds would allow him to escape the same that he brought himself.

Here is Pia Verlaine.
Human Oracle of the Occult, follower of the Eldest: Magdh, and Cursed with a Shattered Psyche.
Divination and necromancy focus (fear, cold and shadows manipulation, not the walking dead kind), but also skilled in healing (both magical and non).

Your mind is crowded with dozens of voices, fragmented snippets of your past lives.
I would like to re-flavor this as instead of HER past lives, she gets snippets of every one who has died in the city. This flavor change just ties into her mystery as well as some of her spell choices, like Ears of the City. It doesn't change any mechanic.

Lubella was born into a lower class Halfling family in Katapesh. Her father died of plague when she was 14, and the remaining family was plunged into poverty. Lubella was sent to serve on an estate of the Church of Sarenrae, where her talent was quickly recognized, and she was groomed to enter the Cult of the Dawnflower. Lubella disliked the rules and structure of her training, and began getting into trouble.
After a series of “Incidents” a transfer was arranged to the Temple of Sarenrae in Korvosa (sending the problem to someone else). As a junior member of the staff, Lubella is the designated errand-runner and odd job person. One day several months ago, she was taking young Paolo Marras, son of a temple priest, to the market, when he was abducted. She blames herself for being distracted by the diversion of one of the accomplices, and has been searching for him every since. She has heard of Gaedren Lamm, and wonders if he was involved.
-Lubella is highly altruistic; she will devote considerable energy to helping people she doesn't know. Wealth is unimportant for it's own sake - it only matters as a mean to helping others.
-Lubella will associate with evil creatures if the greater good is served, or if she feels that they could be redeemed.
-Violence is a last resort; diplomacy is her preferred option.
-Lubella is filled with doubts that she doesn't live up to the very high standards of behavior that she sets for herself.
-Lubella considers herself to be an agent of Sarenrae.
Main Skill Competencies: Bluff*, Diplomacy, Sense Motive*, Stealth
*=2nd level
Combat Role: Melee fighter (moderate damage, strong defenses). Lubella seeks to fight the most dangerous opponent, despite her diminutive stature. She has minor healing abilities (cure light wounds).
Note: Her bardic Inspire Courage bonuses only apply to herself.
I have been playing Lubella in a PBP Carrion Crown Game, which unfortunately seems to be grinding to a halt (or maybe it's just a very slow game - I was hoping for something closer to 1 post per person per day).

Thank you all for your submissions! It has been wonderful reading over your backgrounds and builds, truly an embarrassment of riches. I never expected to get such a wonderful response to this thread.
Alas, slots are limited. I had to make some very difficult cuts, and it was agonizing, but I have finally narrowed the many candidates down to five.
Each of those selected has been sent a PM, but just in case they don't see them, here are the picks:
Aerel Thelon
Nicholas Sparrow
Marvel Manyshot
Emma Holt
Shaeda Stormborn
Apologies to those who didn't get chosen. If one of the above decides against playing, I will pick a replacement.
Again, thank you so much for submitting characters, this was stressful but fun, and I regret that I couldn't play with everyone.
