Pia married young to a promising young guardsman. They lived a simple life, full of hope. Her husband was quick and resourceful, steadily making a name for himself and on track for promotion. Pia was a sought after midwife, specializing in assisting with complicated births, especially those of multiple babies. They weren’t rich, but happy none the less.

Until the day Pia’s world shattered three years ago. Pia’s husband did not like her walking home alone on late nights, so anytime she had late house calls for a birthing, she would leave word at the watch, and her husband would arrive to escort her home after his shift ended at midnight. One such night, he never arrived. A few hours later, her unease growing with every minute, the knock at the door finally came, but it was not her husband. It was his watch commander. Come to tell her that they had found her husband on patrol, and that she needed to confirm the identity for legalities.

Pia was devastated. Her world crashed around her and something in Pia’s mind snapped. She withdrew into herself. Over time, she began hearing voices, sounds, everything fragmented and incoherent. One night, as she lay in bed her mind once again reeling on its own, she felt as if she was being watched. Not getting a feeling of malevolence or harm, but it came with a sense of comfort. It is a feeling that returns every few days, ever watchful. Over time she has come to realize the snippets and fragments of voices seem to be coming from the city itself. Ghost of memories, and memories of ghosts. She can be found many days wandering the streets, following some echo, seeing where it leads. Once some thugs tried to rob her on one of her treks. She leaned then that not only could she hear these ghostly echoes, but could use them also.

While still sought after as a midwife, they have only taken to calling her for complicated births, most people finding her off-putting and a little creepy, but no one can deny her knack when it comes to assisting with multiple births. It gives her steady income, allowing her to keep a small home and not live in poverty. At night she dreams. Enchanted forest full of muti-headed animals, pools of water around every few trees that she can never look into any of the pools. Voices singing from several directions, always changing direction mid-verse, but seamlessly and always different yet the same.

But lately the ghosts of the city have become restless, and so has Pia. A few days ago, following one of these fragments, she came to a pawn shop. For sale was her husband’s wedding ring. After frightening the attendant, he told her it was pawned by a man named Lamm.

Pia is of Chelish decent. Her straight shoulder-length black hair is starting to go grey early as a consequence of her connection to the ghosts of the city. She has not talked directly to many people since her husband's death but is usually seen muttering to herself wandering the streets. she is usually seen wearing her husband's old watch-coat over long flowing skirts.
