Quiella, I believe you'll want to move back to the floor since it takes two hands to fire a crossbow, while hanging on the side of an object requires at least one. Indeed, I'm not sure you have enough hands to cast your spell and hold your crossbow while hanging five feet up.

Also, the black harpy is on the floor next to Valik. My apologies for not making that completely clear.

Mel, Daze only works on creatures with four or less Hit Dice. Although if used on a flying creature that needs to manipulate wings to fly, it probably would cause them to crash.

Halkale fires an arrow at the harpy on the ground, but, alas, only hits the column above Valik's head. Over by the other harpy, Frostfur looks around the area with confusion.

Melufiuos also misses with his arrow, primarily due to Valik's relative position and the difficulty of shooting into a melee situation.

Valik has no success with his first attack on the swooping harpy, but the second is a solid hit now that the creature is on the ground.

Moadis. Also, Quiella potentially moving off the column.

I had forgotten that you said I climbed the column at all. I right the 14 I rolled was too low to climb it. Regardless, dropping to the ground is what I would have intended.

Quiella sighs slightly and turns around

Moving closer the last harpy, Ophelia fires a bolt from her crossbow that flies past the creature to hit the wall behind her.

Moadis has more success as he drops his sword, picks up his sling, and hurls a bullet that solidly strikes the harpy.

With a better understanding of the monster's current position, Quiella moves in the direction indicated by her companions.

The harpy then flies down to swing her weapon at Melufiuos, but her aim is off and the elf remains unscathed. With a snarl, she then flies up to the top of the nearby pillar. Since he is carrying a ranged weapon, no attack of opportunity for Mel.

Terribly injured, the harpy evidently decides that dying isn't in her best interest and escapes by flying out of the oculus at the top of the dome and therefore out of sight.

Combat Over

Examining the body of the dead harpy, you find nothing of particular value besides the morningstar she utilized as a weapon and the armor she was wearing.

As the party takes a breath of relief, your eyes naturally turn towards the strange statue in the back of the room. In one of its tentacles rests something gold and red, although you'd probably need to pull it free to give it a proper inspection. Also, the statue's numerous eyes appear to be valuable onyx gemstones.

Anyone with Knowledge (religion) or (planes) can make a roll to identify the statue.

In the northwest corner, you see another damaged wall that appears recently broken. In the southwest corner, there is another wall of the same type, but currently intact. As before, it appears to be composed of irregularly shaped stone composed of a different type of material as the rest of the building.

Quiella's Perception: 1d20 ⇒ 20

Quiella has to climb a bit of the marble statue to reach the object hanging from one of the tentacles. Pulling it free, she sees that it's a relatively small object composed primarily of hammered and etched gold, although ribbons of red silk are threaded through both ends. Taking a closer look, it appears to Quiella that the object is incomplete-catches and grooves suggest that other pieces must fit onto it.

Melufiuos finds no traps in the immediate vicinity, but casting Detect Magic reveals the object is magical. Moreover, the walls, floor, and ceiling of the temple all radiate magic. Concentrating more fully, the elf can tell the gold/silk object has a faint evocation aura, while the building has a moderate abjuration aura.

A Knowledge (arcana) check can be made if you inspect the device.

Melufiuos takes a closer look at the object and realizes that it is probably the brow and nose guard of something called an Acrimony Veil. He does not recall its purpose, but does know that it is a magical device of unknown potency associated with Alaznist herself. If there are more pieces around, it may be possible to reconstruct one.

Looking past the broken northwest wall with a light source, Quiella sees a small, irregularly-shaped room that contains little more than debris from the smashed barrier, ages-old dust, and a shaft descending into the darkness. On the southwest wall of the shaft there appears to be iron rungs attached to the wall forming a ladder, although it leads down into complete darkness.

Then moving to the southwest wall, it seems obvious it was put up well after the original temple was built and consists of same flimsy stone and clay as the damaged walls.

It takes Quiella a few minutes, but eventually she's able to break down the wall. At the southeastern corner of a newly revealed room, she sees a gruesome statue of a man. He is bare chested; scars, brands, and seeping wounds cover his exposed flesh. He stands with arms crossed, hands gripped tightly like a penitent. Blood oozes from his lacerations and he grits his teeth as though in excruciating pain, though the corners of his mouth turn up slightly, suggesting he derives some wicked pleasure from this perversion of his flesh. A strange mask made of iron covers the statue's face, the metal etched with complicated sigils. A broad belt made of leather and adorned with copper disks girds the statue's waist. Both the mask and the belt look like they can be removed.

What is everyone else currently doing?

Sounds like a super-detailed statue. I'll wait a bit before posting any further actions, but Quiella is curious about the gear the status is apparently wearing.
