GM Fanguar |

Welcome aboard folks, looking forward to running this campaign with you all. Before we get started, a few things, some of which I’ve blatantly stolen from other GMs:
1. I use spoilers for skill checks. So if I don’t post a perception spoiler for a room, there isn’t anything special to find. The exception to this rule is traps. You need to be proactive about searching for traps.
2. My weird plans for combat. I’m not married to this and if it doesn’t work, I’ll go to something more traditional, but here’s the plan.
- Each combatant will start either in the front or back row of their respective sides. You should let me know what your default position is. Front row size will also be dependant on the combat arena, e.g. a 10-foot wide corridor can only have 2 people in the front row.
- It’s a MA to engage or disengage an opponent an opponent. Disengaging incurs AoO from your opponents, unless it’s a withdrawal action, or you succeed an acrobatics check. No more 5-foot step nonsense. It’s a move action to go from front to back row and vice versa.
- Engaging a back row opponent incurs AoOs from the front row, without a successful tumble check.
- Ranged weapons can target anyone.
- Flanking is dependent on the number of attackers on the same opponent. So two people attacking the same target counts as flanking.
- Charging is dependent on there being enough space. (I’ll let you know at the start of combat if there is room)
- I’m sure there are other things I haven’t thought of, so let me know if you have any questions.
3. I will roll Initiative for everyone and post the initiative order at the start of combat. I will also indicate who is in front or back and who is fighting whom. I’ll update this each round. As long as you don't skip any enemies, you can take your turn anytime. (Example: Bob, Henry, Fred, and Steve are at 20, 15, 10, and 5 respectively. Enemy goblins are at Initiative 13. At the beginning of the round, Bob and Henry can go. The goblins go next at 13. Following the goblins, all four of the characters can go in any order because no enemies would be skipped.)
4. I will provide enemy stats in a spoiler, so when you perform your combat action, you can describe the results. I hope that if someone gets something they don't like on the preview, they'll have the integrity to leave it there instead of modifying it based on the roll.
5. At the beginning of any in-combat post, I would like everyone to include the round/initiative count, current hit points, current AC, current saves, remaining spells or resources, whether your in the front or back row and who your opponent is (if any) (By current, I mean following whatever action is in the post.) After that section, I like a section breaking it down into standard/move/swift/whatever actions with appropriate rolls. This way, I don't have to go hunting for that information and check if it is right. Here's an example.
===========EXAMPLE===========
Round 1, Initiative 20
hp 10/12; AC 14/12T/12FF; CMD 14
+4F/+2R/+2W
Front Row
Opponent: None
MA:Engage Orc1
SA: Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
Damage: 1d10 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
The narrative would go here.
=========END EXAMPLE===========
6. Can you please put your PC appropriate information in the following format in your Classes/Levels field on your profile, Human Rogue (Charlatan) 1 AC 16/14/12 / HP 9 / F +0 R +6 W +2 / Init. +8 / Perc. +6 / Sense Motive +6
That’s all I can think of right now. Since I’ve added a fifth PC into the mix, feel free to tweak you characters and let me know if you have any other questions.

Spasi Gaten |

***RAWR!!!***
Fabric rips between sight, mind, and screen as Spasi enters the thread.
"I summon myself from the aether and into this thread! Let the circuits tremble and the pixels quake at my coming!"
Stepping through, Spasi dusts himself off and removes he silver cord attached at the waist.
"Shattered Star, eh? I shall scour the depths of my black soul and darkest intents for a character worthy of this group."
Spasi draws a large stone from the aether and places it near him. Spasi dusts off the rock, has a sit, and begins to wait for the others to arrive. His chin rests upon this clenched fist and that upon a bowed elbow upon knee.
Where are the others? We have treasures to uncover, mighty foes to slay, and puzzles to unravel.
@Azure_Zero: Hail and well met. I've seen your postings for a while on these here boards. Let's have fun.
@GM Fangur: I'll be tweaking my yahoo ever so slightly. I should have a final thing up before we start.

Rhesus Ghawn |

Hello! Thank you for the invite, this should be a good time. I need to buy armor and update my character profile with game macros and the style I like it, should have that done today after my mother-in-laws 60th.

Bibic |

Hello Noya and well met!
Without a map, how do you want me to track cover and combat penalties for my archer? I assume it'll be clear who's in combat and who isn't (don't have precise shot yet - next level if I make it that far!), but how do I handle cover?
Will everyone always have cover against me if they're in a row?
Oh, almost forgot, Bibic will be in the back row whenever possible.

Noya Aurora Evangeline Bridget |

If we want an AC and save boost, we could all take Lastwall Phalanx
Benefits:
You gain a sacred bonus to your AC against the attacks of evil creatures
and a sacred bonus to saves against the spells and abilities of evil
creatures equal to the number of adjacent Allies who also have this feat.
and as for that rendering of Noya, it's a quick rough draft (about 10 minutes work).
if anyone wants one a rendering I could make you one, but don't expect perfect as DAZ Studio uses premade content.

GM Fanguar |

@Noya: I guess it's not absoute imperative to include things like AC and saves in you combat post all the time, as long as you do so whenever it changes from the default e.g. things like spell buffs or debuffs, charging AC penalty etc.
@Bilbic: Let's say that your team's front row doesn't confer soft cover to the enemies front row (if the are engaged, then the -4 shooting into combat penalty still applies), but the enemies' back row does have cover. I will house rule that Precise Shot reduces the cover penalty to -2 and Improved Precise shot eliminates it completely.

Noya Aurora Evangeline Bridget |

@Rhesus Ghawn
are you Shoanti or Ulfen?
As you put Shoanti in the profile, but are using Ulfen height and said Ulfen in your gameplay post so I can't tell which one your keeping,
unless your mixed blood.

Noya Aurora Evangeline Bridget |

I'll admit, I'm bit of a rules lawyer, and looked up some data.
Thought normal human male max was 6'4."
Shoanti have a max height is 6'6", but 6'8" is within my internal 5% give'n'take max of the base limits which brings the max up to 6'9".
varying skin tones, from deeply
tanned to dark brown, although
most are of a ruddy complexion. Hair
is considered a dangerous weakness in
hand-to-hand combat, so both men and
women typically shave their heads, save
for shamans and the elderly.
Ulfen bypass the Core rule book hieght because of the bolded line below
for being strong, dumb, and quiet, as well as for
having strange accents and wearing smelly furs.
Most Ulfen are quite tall, with men starting at
6 feet and the women just a few inches shorter.
Their skin is pale and their hair blond, light
brown, or red. Both men and women
wear their hair long and braided,
though women’s braids tend to be more
elaborate. Men usually wear beards.

Bibic |

@Bilbic: Let's say that your team's front row doesn't confer soft cover to the enemies front row (if the are engaged, then the -4 shooting into combat penalty still applies), but the enemies' back row does have cover. I will house rule that Precise Shot reduces the cover penalty to -2 and Improved Precise shot eliminates it completely.
OK, I read this and thought I understood it, but re-reading it this morning I am confused (maybe not enough coffee!).
Precise Shot (link) eliminates the -4 for shooting into combat. Are you saying that your house rule is that it drops the -4 to -2 (instead of to 0) or are you saying it also reduces the cover penalty? I think you're saying the latter, but want to be sure. It's my next feat either way, so it won't effect that, but I want to make sure I do my adjustments correctly.
thanks!

GM Fanguar |

I will house rule that Precise Shot reduces the cover penalty to -2 and Improved Precise shot eliminates it completely.
This is on top of the standard bonus.
Just to be clear:
Without Precise shot:
You(back row) shoot at Orc warrior(front row) = no penalty
You(back row) shoot at Orc warrior(front row) fighting Noya(front row) = -4
You(back row) shoot at Orc shaman(Back row): -4
With Precise shot:
You(back row) shoot at Orc warrior(front row) = no penalty
You(back row) shoot at Orc warrior(front row) fighting Noya(front row) = no penalty
You(back row) shoot at Orc shaman(Back row): -2
I hope that makes sense.

Bibic |

Ahhh, one more thing. Sorry to be such a pest.
Point Blank Shot gives me a +1/+1 within 30'. Should I assume that the front row is within 30' and the back row is not for our purposes? Seems to make some sense to me, but it's up to you of course.

Bibic |

Most of the campaigns I'm in track wealth in a central spreadsheet. It's a useful way to make sure nothing is left behind and gives the GM a sense of where we are for wealth by level.
Is anyone interested in such a scheme? If so, is anyone interested in doing the tracking? Or is there a plan already in place that I missed? :)

Rhesus Ghawn |

I'll be flying to Florida for a work conference tomorrow, I'll be returning on the 14th. I'll be able to post in the evenings but morning and afternoons will be busy.

Bibic |

Box contents:
3 garnets worth 50gp each, a masterwork silver dagger and a ring of feather falling I'm assuming that you'll detect magic etc. All marinating in gremlin urine.
Presuming we sell the dagger (322gp or 161gp sale value) and the ring of feather falling (2,200gp or 1,100gp sale value) that gives 150+161+1100=1,411gp.
May I suggest we buy a wand of cure light wounds (750gp)? We're going to need the healing at some point and better to get it now rather than wait until we're really hurting. That plus the 50gp we seem to be spending on bribes leaves us with 611gp or 122gp each and 1gp in the group fund.
Sound good?
(I'm using the Treasure Sheet that Spasi setup to track gold and gear though I don't think everyone has access yet and I'm not done with Bibics gear.)

Noya Aurora Evangeline Bridget |

I think it would be wise to keep any magic items or weapons made of special materials.
As we could face an obstacle or opponent where that item or weapon will be of use.
(Silver dagger, let's keep it as there could be a were-something about)

Bibic |

Hrm. If we keep the ring and the dagger, we have a total of 100gp to spend/divide. If you want to keep the dagger, I'm OK with that, but I strongly think the ring is better spent as a wand of curing at this stage in our careers.
Still, I'll go where the group goes. :)

Rhesus Ghawn |

I'm all for selling them in favor of a wand of CLW, at this stage anything we meet (sorry, more metagame) is likely to have DR low enough that Noya and Rhesus can bypass it.

Bibic |

Yeah, I try to avoid metagaming when at all possible - but I frequently fail.
So then from my characters perspective he wants healing, and he wants silver arrows. Two things he can't have if we keep the items as is. Further, he has no use for a silver dagger (and MW at that!) or a ring of feather falling. Sure, he'd rather not fall from a great height, but the wand can heal us all rather then just help one of us in a special circumstance.
Bibic's bits.

Bibic |

I think we're hung up on shopping. What are we going to sell? Let's compromise and keep the dagger and sell the ring.
If we do that, we'll get 1100 from the ring and 100 from the remaining gemstones (after the bribe). That gets us 1200, minus a wand of cure light wounds (750) for 450 to split 5 ways or 90gp each.
Assuming that's the case, Bibic will then buy:
20 blunt silvered arrows (42gp)
20 cold iron arrows (2gp)
...leaving me with 46gp. Most of his arrows are bundled in his backpack, but I do note on my character which arrows are in his two quivers ready to fire.
Bibic offers to carry the wand of curing but if someone else prefers to carry it that's fine too. If he's carrying the wand, he also buys a spring loaded wrist sheath to store it in (-5gp leaving me with 41gp).
