GM Rolls:
1d20 ⇒ 3

The party, each writhing a little in their own way, tries to decide what to do next. Kosei pushes for the sarcophagus, Stelle for the walkway through the starry night (Kosei can squeeze on the walkway and not fall off if all is as it appears).

Kosei tries to warn Zilchus that a broken mirror might not be the best idea, but Zilchus draws his bow and shoots it none-the-less. He cracks the mirror in a couple places before it succumbs and shatters, spitting glass shards throughout the room. Mosaic pieces fall and lie scattered along the southern wall.

Florence can confirm the magics too have been destroyed along with the glass.

Kosei shrugs as the mirror is destroyed, examining Zilchus trying to figure out if something happened to him or changed on him.

The elemental tries to point out to Stelle the bridge will be no problem to him by making different signs with his rocky arms, pointing at the walls. Kosei also shrinks his mass and then flaps his rocky arms, trying to convey another idea.

At the end Kosei looks at the sarcophagus from afar, relentless to touch the ground, he prefers to wait for the others to decide what to do about it.

Florence cautiously advances a little further into the room to the north, still looking around. "So...there's some sort of trap in here in the floor?" she repeats. "I'm all for figuring out how to disable it if everyone else is."

Unsure of just where said trap mechanism might be, Florence continues to scan the area for magical auras.

Stelle points to the circle near the sarcophagus. "It turns ethereal -- a pit 60' deep with hot tar at the bottom. I swear there was a burnt up custard oozing up the wall... it's a good thing we were air walking! I think it triggered when we stepped into the circle and read the writing above."

KITISCH!!!

Zilchus wrote:
"Break! Bring your weak ass divine unluck to me! The Raging River will sweep it away like straw in the deluge."

Stelle glances back into the Mosaic room to make sure everyone is far enough away from the flying shards. Upon seeing that everyone is indeed safe, she sighs in relief. 'weak divine unluck'? Whatever is he on about now?!"

Kosei wrote:

"Oh," Stelle says quietly. "I think he's saying he can just fit across by changing shape. I hope the bridge is sturdy enough."

She looks at the party. "So what do you think? The sarcophagus, or the bridge?"

She watches Florence make her way into the sarcophagus room. She shrugs, and cautiously air walks behind her.

"Alright okay then!" Zilchus smiles proudly as the mirror shatters, having saved the party from any more Nidhis appearing. "You're welcome."

He puts away his bow and re-attaches his weapon cord to his wrist. He moves to the party, still trodding on air.

"Now, what about a chasm? I can probably carry someone for a while, but it shouldn't happen in a fight. I'll need my hands free."

Poking her head back out of the northern room Florence remarks, "Let me finish looking for magical auras in here really quick and then we can try the bridge, okay? Hopefully we can just come back to this point if we need to."

Roll20 Map - Treasure Sheet

Florence finds magical auras only near the entrance to the room where the trap's trigger is, and the floor. There are no other auras in the north room (other than the usual party bits of course).

Inactive; Campaign Concluded

"Huh...it's just the floor itself and what I'm guessing is the trigger for the trap that read as magical," Florence reports as she steps back out into the hallway. "It makes me wonder what's so important about the sarcophagus to put a trap like that in there."

Though she glances over her shoulder one last time, Florence can tell that Stelle and maybe even Zilchus seem eager to press on. "Anyway, we'll worry about it later. Ready to cross, I guess?"

Zilchus stops as Florence has made a REALLY good point.

"Yeah, why would they put TWO traps in here? There must be something important about that sarcophagus," Zilchus agrees, air spinning on a heel to return to examine the it.

Take 20 Perception: 43.

Roll20 Map - Treasure Sheet

As Zilchus returns to examine the sarcophagus closely, he takes his time (2 minutes) and carefully examines every inch of the sarcophagus.

He finds nothing. In fact, he doesn't even find the crack of a lid. It appears to be a solid stone carving. Perhaps a decoy...

As he turns to leave, the floor falls away once again (air walk) and the pudding creeps a little closer to the lip before the floor re-solidifies below him, blocking the creatures passage.

Female Halfling Cavalier/16

"Do you see it!? DID YOU SEE THAT?!" Stelle exclaims, pointing to the creeping pudding just before the floor resolidifies, and having Anubis retreat a little. "Burnt flan!" She wrinkles her nose in disgust.

She gestures toward the night scene. "Well, shall we head across the bridge, or try another tooth?"

Inactive; Campaign Concluded

Seeing that Zilchus fails to turn up any other tidbits worth examining, even after a very thorough search, Florence gives him an apologetic look.

"Huh. I guess it could just be a decoy to make people waste their time. Sorry about that," she sighs.

Feeling that they've likely exhausted all they can do and learn from the northern room Florence turns her attention towards Stelle and the bridge. "Let's try the bridge and see how far we can go. At this rate that glob of pudding is going to make it out of that pit if we keep hanging around and activating that trap!"

"Anyway, let me see if I'm able to fly across without hitting anything - after I check for magical auras, I mean," Florence adds as she begins to do just that.

Flo will scan the bridge area for magical auras and then, if she doesn't turn up anything that seems like it might be a trap, she'll start to Air Walk her way across~

”Wait! Wait! One moment! There is one more thing to try...” Zilchus will cast Stone Shape and begin to dig into the sarcophagus to see if it is hollow or able to be opened.

He will claw and move stone away to try to get at what might be inside.

Roll20 Map - Treasure Sheet

The party waits, precious spells ticking away, as Zilchus claws desperately for treasure. Alas he finds none, and looks up from a ragged and torn lump of stone, devoid of any crevasse or secret.

Florence:
Your detections reveal a number of spells - illusions - layerd on top of each other. It’ll take some confirming, but you believe the bridge isn’t a bridge at all, but just a continuing tunnel. When that is done, he will move after Florence down the illusioinary hallway.

Getting to the end of the hallway, he will look around for traps and danger.

Craft (mason) check there Zilchus? Curious as to the quality of Mr SuckButts. :)

Though the hallway is illusory it is quite breathtaking as you walk down the tunnel. It even manages to adjust for Kosei’s girth, though if you look at him too closely there’s some humming around the edges. The party makes its way around the corner to see the hallway continue (though without the skyline - we’re back to smooth stone).

The passage ends at a curved alcove containing an imposing stone statue of a man dressed in the raiment of a ruling pharaoh, his hands holding a crossed crook and flail against his chest. The pharaoh’s expression is stern and imperious, as if looking down in disdain at those who stand before him. The statue’s feet hover a few inches above a stone disk on the floor bearing a cartouche.

It appears to depict the Sky Pharaoh Hakotep I, the Forgotten Pharaoh, and is the first time you’ve seen a full representation of him. The statue’s face echoes the visage of the Mask worn by Nidhi, and copied by both Stelle and Florence. Confirming the fact is an ancient Osiriani hieroglyph in the cartouche below which provides his name, “Hakotep”.

There is also a further door in the hallway near the statue. Zilchus perceives no traps. (Map updated)

Florence discovers the magic mouth easily enough. Additionally there's a curse-trap of some sort, but it's inactive now so she can't tell quite what it is.

She also finds magics in the statue's feet - embedded in the stone. Must be whatever makes it float - two points of magic, buried in the stone.

"Hmm...a Magic Mouth like I figured...and there's also some sort of curse-trap too but it's inactive so I can't tell anything else about it. I guess maybe Kosei triggered it when he got close," Florence declares after a few moments. "But he seems okay, I think...?"

She studies Kosei for a moment but nothing seems to be different about him or his behavior as far as she can tell, at least for now.

"It might reset so we'll need to be careful. But it looks like there's nowhere else to go from here except through that door. Zilchus or Stelle, want to do the honors?"

Kosei does not seem particularly enraged against the statue, it is fine art truth be said, and he respects fine art. When Florence approaches to check up he makes a dancing move waving his arms to show he is ok, just before coming back to his serious Tar Kuata Stance.

The Garundi studies Zilchus and he glides through the walls at the same time the warrior opens the door.

Roll20 Map - Treasure Sheet

Zilchus opens the untrapped door to reveal a half a dozen life-sized statues of men and women standing in this room. Each statue depicts a figure with hands outstretched as though warding off a great evil. The horror on the faces is very well done, and seeps into your thoughts filling you with some dread (or perhaps it's just the statue staring at you).

The wall to the east is a smooth expanse of clay streaked with veins of gray, its face adorned with a single large hieroglyph.

Knowledge History* or Knowledge Nobility* DC 30:
The large hieroglyph marking the wall is the personal sigil of an Ancient Osirian merchant family called the Sekpatras.

Given all that, I think you made it... :)

Further, you find no magics within the room - but more interestingly, there are magics beyond the clay wall on which the hieroglyph is placed. Two strong shining points of magic to be precise.

Oh wow, forgot all about that but it's not surprising given it took Flo awhile to meet those prereqs. Will note it on her sheet for the future!

After studying the room for a moment something finally clicks in Flo's mind and suddenly the hieroglyph on the wall makes sense. "Wait! Now I get it! It's the personal sigil of an Ancient Osirian merchant family called the Sekpatras," she explains.

Then she looks around the room again.

"Um...I guess these statues are supposed to represent the Sekpatras? Maybe they crossed Hakotep some way back in the day," she shivers.

"Oh and strangest thing, there's no magic in this room but I'm picking up something beyond the clay wall over there," Flo adds. "Two strong, shining points. But I'm not sure what type of magic it is, exactly. Zilchus, you said you can't do the stone-shaping thing again, eh? Hm...then maybe Kosei would want to go have a further look?"

She looks at their elemental friend, eyebrow raised.

Kosei loses no time and goes to take all the cache. He places it all below his arm, and attempts to cover all the objects completely as he glides back through the walls.

The man-elemental grins exultant as he presents to the group what he has found. Kosei makes a sign on his head while looking at Florence.

Nidhi seems flustered (by her inability to disarm the trap on repeated attempts) and amused (by the statue) at the same time. "This place seems to be a total charade!" Nidhi pulls out her luminous lockpicks - a sign she's getting really serious. (I forgot to add the +5)

Is the statue's speech loud? Like how far away can it be heard?

Inactive; Campaign Concluded

Florence tries to maintain some patience while waiting for Kosei to return and for Nidhi to hopefully disarm the magical trap...but it proves more challenging than expected with the statue stuck in a rapid-fire repeating loop.

"If we make it back to Wati I'm buying some earplugs..." she groans quietly. Her expression brightens somewhat when Kosei returns safely with a veritable haul tucked up under his arms.

"Hey! I knew there was magic on the other side of the wall," Florence grins. "Thanks Kosei!"

After some examination of the rod and the gem, she can't help but chuckle. "Nidhi, this Rod of Splendor would probably go quite well with your mask. And this Gem of Brightness could come in handy if we run across anything that really hates the light."

Noticing that Kosei keeps making some sort of sign and pointing to his head, Florence gives him a quizzical look. "Do what? A headache? Yes, I should be able to fix a headache."

Roll20 Map - Treasure Sheet

Nidhi is surprised at the loudness of the command, but it is not particularly loud. It doesn't really carry past the prior trapped rooms for example.

She does eventually disarm the trap, so it will not reset on its own.

Remember with the Rod of Splendor, the Cha bonus does not stack with other magical bonuses. I think Nidhi is already receiving a +4 to her Cha from the Mask for example and those won't stack.

After Nidhi has finished with whatever repeated curses she is placing upon herself, Zilchus will take his time looking for a way forward...a secret door, a button, and magic portal.

He will start with the statue room, then check the statue just outside.

Zilchus spends a few quick seconds searching the statue and inner room, but nothing new is revealed.

I added the clay-chamber to the map, but Kosei saw no way froward from that space.

Meh to the gem.

Omg, that rod is awesome! I love items that do things but not necessarily for combat purposes. Like the Knight-Inheritor's Ring. Can Nidhi have it? I understand if y'all want to sell it so my feelings won't be hurt but you have to admit the effects are interesting.

Nidhi wants the rod because of the palatial tent and the ability to conjure the finest clothes on oneself. She likes the idea of hosting lavish parties in the conjured tent. The parties would need food and drink, of course, but the guests could each contribute an item. Nidhi also verbally announces that she thinks the rod could come in handy if the party needs to return to the desert (although extremely conspicuous.) Regardless of the party's decision, Nidhi immediately takes the rod for a test run.

She uses the rod on herself to conjure silken green robes that match her eyes with stitches of gold thread and tiny pearls from the ocean bed. The sleeves are draping triangles of fabric that puddle into the floor when her arms are slack. The fabric cuts into a deep V on her torso with more yellow silk peeking up through the slit to cover her modestly. She has shoulder-pads of gold, shaped like the albino crocodiles in the Golden Lake, accenting the multiple bolts of fine fabric that make up her outfit. A dragging waist scarf in a rich yellow, more saturated than the under cloth, is tied smartly around her waist defining her natural curvature. The top layer of green as well as the ends of the waist scarf drag behind Nidhi by about an inch. Unless 2 hours and 10 minutes have passed, her face is still disguised to hide the mask. Nidhi tucks the rod into her waist scarf. She could feel the metal pressing uncomfortably into her stomach and thigh but knew the magic item looked right at home with her conjured outfit. "Oh, yes," Nidhi comments in the hallway while still standing before the statue. "This suits me very well." She nods to herself. Sleeves of Many Garments were nice, but they lacked the glamour Nidhi admired in the wealthy. She was sure to turn heads with her outfit. Everyone would know before even hearing her voice how important and talented she must be. The person people looked to to resolve a complicated negotiation or convince enemies to lay down their arms.

The stolen sheets fitted onto her bed now seem like a cheap comparison. Nidhi touches the crown of her head, feeling for stray hairs that may have come loose from her braid. She relished the movement because she could feel the added weight of her outfit and the smoothness of the fabric caressing her. "I think," she looks up at the statues' face and squints. "Wait a minute... that's... The Forgotten Pharaoh Hakotep?" She takes a step back. "Why is his statue here? Wait, is this his pyramid?" Nidhi takes out her longbow again, which had been temporarily stored to operate the Rod of Splendor.

Realizing this statue apparently depicts the greatest evil Nidhi may ever come across in her life, she examines his form. Specifically, Nidhi examines the statue's biceps. Does the pharaoh appear to have sizable muscles? Is he depicted as a warrior or more like Ben? Any weapons?

Florence also finds magics in the statue's feet - embedded in the stone. Must be whatever makes it float - two points of magic, buried in the stone.

Further, you find no magics within the room - but more interestingly, there are magics beyond the clay wall on which the hieroglyph is placed. Two strong shining points of magic to be precise.

"What?! What's wrong? Kosei! Are you O.K.?! Florence, is he O.K., or does he just want you to put something on your head? Maybe... invest in a hat or something?"

Stelle aggressively chooses not to notice what is possibly the tackiest outfit transformation in the history of The Forgotten Pharaoh Hakotep. Oh, I wish I understood what is going on.

She starts heading back toward the Serpent arch. "If we're done here, maybe we should try another tooth? The map doesn't correspond to much, but maybe it'll make more sense if different teeth open more paths."

"You might lower your bow, Nidhi," she adds. "It is just a stupid statue. Come -- let us leave this area."

Kosei negates with the head and points once again at his head while looking at Florence and his rocky face reshapes leaving a hole that might resemble a grin "אוי! די פלאָראַנס איז נאָר אַזוי וויציק! קוק ווי זי געוואוסט אַזוי פיל מיר וואָלט געפֿינען אַ ווונדערלעך קאַש! זי איז קלוג מיין פריינט, זי איז קלוג ווי דער חכמה פון די סקראָולז פון טאַר קואַטאַ! Kosei then points to his head again while turning to Stelle with his rocky grin.

Terran:

"Oh! The Florence is just so witty! Look how she knew so much we would find a wonderful cache! She is smart my friends, she is smart as the wisdom of the scrolls of Tar Kuata! Yes! Let's head back to the entrance. It is very possible it words as you say my friend Stelle. You are smart too, witty as the desert fox on the night when the lion descends on the plains!"

When Nidhi takes the rod Kosei shivers agasp while she looks at her and performs a thumbs up sign "Oh Nidhi! דיין סטיל און דומאַנאָר וואָלט ברענגען די דרייַ גרויס פעראָוז פון אלטע צייַט צו דיין פֿיס! אַזאַ איז די גרויסקייט פון דיין ספּעלז! איך וועט דילייטלי קוקן פֿאַר אַ ליד אַז שוועבעלעך דיין גרויסקייט אַמאָל מיר זענען צוריק צו וואַטי מיין פרייַנד!"

Terran:

"Oh Nidhi! Your style and demanor would bring the three great pharaohs of ancient time to your feet! Such is the greatness of your splendor! I shall definetely look for a poem that matches your greatness once we are back to Watty my friend!"

The man-elemental walks down the corridor with Stelle and helps her try a different jaw.

”You know Flo, I think I understand Kosei about as much as I understood Ben! What is he saying?” Zilchus looks confused, but does go back to the hallway looking for a secret door or something they missed.
