Kyra gives Valeros guidance once again and Valeros keeps the cart steady on the track, aiming to catch up with Aspis soon.
Assuming they aren't able to speed, you will catch up with their cart on their turn. So next round people will be able to jump carts.
Initiative:
1. Valeros
2. Guards
3. Kyra, Raphael, Bruxo, Lindum, Weiman
Raphael, Bruxo, Lindum, and Weiman are up!
Cart 1:
Position: 110'

Occupants: you guys!
Cart 2:
Position: 130'
Speed: 50'
Occupants:
Talia (inspiring): 3 dmg, confused
Guard 1 (driving): 9 dmg, shaken, confused
Guard 2 (aiding): asleep
Guard 3 (bow is out): asleep
Guard 4 (knocked log): asleep
Weiman Callbazzern-Walk |
Weiman keeps sure Valeros keeps the cart in check (but ends his Lucky Streak)! Ride (to aid, adds +4): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18
Bruxo Machi |
Just for good measure (and cos the Aspis appear confused, asleep, or maybe even both), Bruxo hexes Valeros with a Fortune hex, then cackles.
Not gonna miss that Ride check if I have anything to say about it! :-)
Valeros the Pregenerated |
A couple of thoughts:
- Shouldn't the Aspis folks be attacking each other on their turn, since they're confused? The condition says "Any confused creature who is attacked automatically attacks its attackers on its next turn, as long as it is still confused when its turn comes." Seems Talia should attack the guard who attacked her, and he should hit her back. And so on.
- At the cart's current speed, Valeros can use guidance or Aid and auto-hit the DC 14 control check, so we might want to conserve buff resources for now, though the support is greatly appreciated.
EndlessForms |
Sorry for the delay. Giving a research talk this afternoon and taking an inorganic exam tonight.
Weiman helps Valeros drive the cart and Bruxo gives Valeros good fortune. Everyone else enjoys the mayhem before them.
Talia sticks the guard with her rapier: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19

guard smacks Talia with his heavy mace: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25

The Pathfinders' cart then bumps up against the Aspis cart. You guys are adjacent now and can leap into the other cart if you want.

Weiman Callbazzern-Walk |
"Taking all bets, taking all bets! I got 1:5 on lady and 1:3 on the goon!" Weiman punctuates the line with a "Ha!" before adding more. "Let's actually stop their cart, so they can just duke it out."
If agreeing to the plan, Weiman will move forward and help whoever (probably Valeros) slow down the cart. Ride Aid: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6 Instead of helping, however, he puts forth yet another suggestion. "Why don't we just take their weapons and let them just punch it out? This seems mean."
Valeros the Pregenerated |
Valeros holds tight to the controls, not seeking to pick up any further speed. Laughing along with Weiman's calling out the odds, he says, "If someone wants to grab their cart, I can hit the brakes and slow things down. But I'm enjoying the ride! And we need to get down below anyway, right? I'll just keep us right next to them."
Ride, to control cart, DC 14: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (7) + 12 = 19
We're moving at a slow jog at this point, so I don't think we're in any terrible danger. If I slow us down a tiny bit, I auto-hit the Ride DC to keep control, but I don't want to do that until we've taken care of the folks in the front cart.
Raphael Hernan 0430 |
I assume we want the leader alive for questioning?
Raphael then jumps into the other cart.
Not sure what mechanic, but assuming it is an Acrobatics roll, here goes....

I do not think we have any running buffs going but I'm not sure of the time frame either.
We don't have to stop then, just get us to wherever it is we're going in one piece!
Kyra will grant Guidance to anyone that may need it since the driver doesn't seem to need it anymore.

Raphael leaps across and knocks down the goon, leaving the confused leader all by herself.
We can go ahead and drop out of combat now. It's not a lone level 6 bard (under 3.5 rules, no less) could deal with you guys on her own.
Having dealt with the goon, Raphael disarms Talia and restrains her for the rest of the journey down, which is pleasantly smooth and free of obstacles thanks to Valeros' superb driving skills.
Valeros brings the carts to a stop at the bottom of the pit. Towering buildings and forgotten architecture fill the skyline hidden deep within the rocky pillar. Cramped and decaying columns line avenues and market squares, representing only a fragment of their former glory. Dark shadows play amidst the flickers of light that rain from the chasm opening above.
Valeros the Pregenerated |
Valeros releases the levers of the cart, flexing his fingers to loosen them up before drawing his mismatched blades. He hops out of the cart and moves to the one they pursued down the shaft. "Hey Raph, do a quick search of our friend there, make sure she's not hiding any nasty surprises." Once Talia comes to her senses, Valeros asks her, "Where are the otter-mated guardians? We heard there were...things...that were defending Rachikan. What do they look like, and where do we need to look out for them?"
Weiman Callbazzern-Walk |
Weiman decides to finally take the clown mask off before briefly searching the guards and their boss. He keeps distant of the interrogation, unless requested to aid.
Perception: 1d20 + 23 ⇒ (20) + 23 = 43
Before I forget, Weiman has the Trapspotter Rogue Talent. I also may have posted this before, but I wanted to make sure I kept it prevalent before dungeon time.

Sorry for the uncharacteristically slow posting this week; terribly busy with school work. Posting should be back to normal now.
