"This is just an extremely stressful situation... shipwrecked... I just really need a drink.... maybe we can ferment some coconut milk..." says Aerys.
Jask then says,"The vote of confidence you guys have extended my by releasing me from my shackles is profound. I know you guys have a lot more interesting things to look for on the island but I was completely framed and the evidence to exonerate me might just be on a ship that also wrecked on this island. So while you are wondering around keep an eye out for the wrecked ship "The Brine Demon".
Miles of Magnimar |
Sure, you sodding drunk. I'll stop at the first distillery I find on this island and pour a few fingers in a flask for you, Miles thinks, glad he shut his mouth and let Finn do the talking. Instead, he goes through a kind of ritual wherein he checks his equipment and places it accordingly, appearing more organized than your average adventurer when it comes to weight distribution and easy access. Years of B&E will do that to you.
"Any idea what that evidence is, Jask? Paper documents or something else?"
He notices Sasha's recalcitrance, but misreads it as bitterness rather than fear, and not wanting to have the tip of his nose chopped off, keeps it out of her business for now.
Jask aka GM |
Jask responds with a shrug and then smile, "Well Miles, I was once employed by the Sargavan government and I uncovered evidence of corruption involving illicit deals with the Free
Captains of the Shackles, afterward I confronted my superior, only to be betrayed and framed for the same crimes. Faced
with imprisonment, I fled all the way to Corentyn, where I lived a modest life as a scribe for a decade. Anyway, one of the incriminating papers I found so long ago indicated that one of my superior’s contacts
in the Shackles was a man named Avret Kinkarian. Kinkarian’s ship, the Brine Demon, reputedly wrecked here on Smuggler’s Shiv. So, it is a long shot but if you could check that out for me that would be great."
Viata d'Foc |
"Indeed, Jask! You helped frighten away the monkeys and have been more than helpful. Anything we can do to help prove your innocence! I am so sorry for doubting you before. Let's work together to get off this island!"
Viata d'Foc |
"East is fine with me."
Miles of Magnimar |
He nods in agreement with Finn, but otherwise doesn't have much to say about Jask's past.
Once he has his own gear ready, has checked his boots and water supply, he looks around. "Anyone other than Miss Viata and Finn coming with me?"
GMEDWIN |
I guess Grimma because she is on vacay
Jask wishes you all well as you prepare to head out. "Don't concern yourselves too much about us," he says. "We have a good position here, and while morale may be low, I think even Aerys will fight to protect herself should we come under attack. We'll be here when you get back this evening. Best of luck to you all, and take care!"
With that, you set off. You head back to the beach where you came ashore and then head along the east side of the cove. Because of the rocks, it's necessary to stay a little bit back from the coast line and head up to the cliff. You're able to avoid any strenuous climbs, though, and maintain gentle slopes most of the way until you reach the top.
Not far north of where the Jenivere was lodged into the rocks ( the coastline turns to the east as you exit the cove and see the long expanse of the sea to the north. You continue following the coastline eastwards for another mile and a half and then you see a little mini island a half mile ahead with what looks like a shipwreck on it.
Miles of Magnimar |
"Well, well, wouldja lookit that?"
Since the shipwreck is on an island, Miles looks to see how rough the surf looks, or if there's any sign of a strong current, since to reach the shipwreck it appears they would have to swim to the small island.
Grimma Fireforge |
I'm back from my florida's trip :-)
Before departure
Seeing Sasha in deep depression, Grimma try to cheer her up.
She passed the morning with her talking about her own experience of being alone in the jungle and how she founded a new path and hope by praying Ylimancha.
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22
After departure
Grimma followed in silence his comrades.
When they saw a little mini island a half mile ahead with what looks like a shipwreck on it.
When Miles proposed to look she agreed
Yes, we must try to go. May be, if we are lucky it's the The Brine Demon ?
Nevertheless, I can follow you Miles to swim to the island.
Grimma Fireforge |
Wait for me Miles ! Said Grimma.
The time she finished to take off her armor, the young sailor was already swimming.
She then tried to catch him, but begin to drown
bloup*bloup
Swim DD18: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8 - drown (-1)
Swim (2) DD18: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17 - stay
Swim (3) DD18: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10 - drown (-2)
Swim (4) DD18: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22 - swim up (-1)
Swim (5) DD18: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24 - swim up (0)
Swim (6) DD18: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24 - catch on the island Miles
After some difficulties, Grimma finished to come ashore on the island.
Miles of Magnimar |
"I know those. Coconuts. We can take some of those back with us," he points a gloved finger up towards the trees. He investigates the ship a bit from outside, making sure the tilt isn't ready to send the remains of the ship crashing into the sand to possibly bury them if a rogue wave comes along.
Grimma Fireforge |
I'm not a common dwarf you know said Grimma with a grin
Can we first search the sloop which crashed here ? Or may be you can climb these tree and try to see something ?
With caution, Grimma looked around her and begin searching for everithing she could be of use for them.
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 27
Viata d'Foc |
Viata unconsciously spins Miles's hat in her hands while Yana watches it, jumping from shoulder to shoulder, "Yes, they did indeed. I hope everything is okay, yes I do. I don't like waiting like this, not at all." She does her best to keep an eye out for any trouble while waiting.
Perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
Grimma Fireforge |
Grimma was disappointed by what she found.
Not the good boat and the only thing we can use is this heavy iron chain... not worth the risk.
Take some coconuts and we go back !
Grimma nevertheless took the iron chain waiting for Miles
GMEDWIN |
Miles swim 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7 -2 hp ends up on the beach.
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18 makes it across safely.
Grimma 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11 -1 hp ends up on the beach
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16 treads water
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27 makes it across
Back with the others,
GM rolls
Continuing east or would you like to move inland or back to camp?
Grimma Fireforge |
Grimma take back her armor and said
Did you see anything from the coconut tree Miles ?
Oh, and I found this Grimma showed an heavy iron chain 15ft. long
and the ship was called "Tears of Grog". Nothing else was of any value on the island except for the coconuts.
Miles of Magnimar |
Miles does climb the coconut tree to gather the coconuts after he and Grimma take the heavy chain from the shipwreck. "Tears of Grog? Sounds like a rum transport or something." From the top of the tree, he tries to get a better vantage point of their surroundings to see if anything else might be found.
I think we can continue east until the afternoon heat, then rest in the shade, then head back.
Viata d'Foc |
"Hmm, scary name with Aerys back in camp. Makes her very scary. Probably not a good idea to mention that to her, no not at all."
East is good with me.
GMEDWIN |
You continue eastwards along the coast search for anything of any value looking out for potential rescue.
GM rolls
Grimma
Viata d'Foc |
"As long as we get back to camp tonight, yes. I see what Finn says. Perhaps we should map the island, yes? It would help us keep track of things. Can anyone make a map? I could try, but not sure how well I could do it."
Grimma Fireforge |
STOP ! I see something dangerous... said Grimma after half a mile.
here, at the edge of a cliff pointed Grimma in a whisper
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21
Know. Nature (+1 if linked to jungle, +3 if a monter): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
Viata d'Foc |
"Very scary! But should we learn more of it, see what kind of creature it is?"
Not sure if I can see it after Grimma points it out, but here's a knowledge roll.
Knowledge (Nature): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15
Miles of Magnimar |
"Thanks for holding onto that for me," he said to Viata after taking his hat back. He puts it back on his head and welcomes the comfort of it. When Grimma spies the nest, Miles muses aloud. "Maybe a shot at omelettes for breakfast tomorrow?"
Viata d'Foc |
Getting a good look at the nest, Viata suddenly remarks, "Oh, I remember seeing a nest like that in a book I read! It's a Pterosaur nest, but I'm not sure which kind. It's not a dinosaur, but you find them where dinosaurs are usually! I never thought I would see one. Do you think we might be able to see one?"
The words she just spoke start to sink in, overriding her excitement. "Um, do you think there may be dinosaurs on this island?"
Viata d'Foc |
Viata follows along, also keeping an eye out for danger.
