I have played it with another character, though it's been so long I've likely forgotten anything relevant. I'll get my gear up tonight, but it's all preexisting. I should be ready to go.

Thermidor has an additional piece of information. The incursion from Bloodcove was mostly halted by a brave group of Pathfinders.

Save for torrential rain alternating with scorching heat, the journey from Fort Bandu to Mount Nakyuk progresses smoothly. Ancient, crumbling stone buildings choked with vines and adorned with bone fetishes emerge from a patch of thick jungle underbrush. A scattering of bones and discarded tools hints that this location was recently inhabited. A gaping stairwell yawns behind a blood-spattered altar, descending to the mysterious depths where the Golden Guardian makes its home.

Players who played in part 1 with these PCs recognize this as the location you rescued those miners from death at the sacrificial altar.

Knowledge (Engineering or History) DC 13:
The architecture in this area is quite plain by dwarven standards, which means the dwarves probably built this area in a hurry. If you beat the DC by 5, read the spoiler below.

These ruins appear to be 3000 years old, but there appear to be some recent changes. Some of the cracked exterior walls (and likely interior as well) appear to have been widened to allow small creatures to pass through

Two granite statues of dwarves in full armor stand guard in this entrance hall, flanking the entrance to a corridor to the south. Antelope skull patterns painted in red ochre cover each statue’s face. In the wall to the south are two rust-stained iron doors.

Kuriq paces himself and heads over to the other door, grabbing a dagger in one hand. "Let's try to figure out the safest route. I remember Barl telling us about traps in this place. We don't want to alert whoever is here." He jerks the door slightly to peek inside.

You don't see any traps in the entryway nor the area around the front door nor the door you are positioned at now.

It looks as though the eastern door leading into the ruins was opened using a crowbar somewhat recently.

A 10-foot section of the wall in the room lies in pieces on the floor. The room seems to have been abandoned as a result of the collapse.

The remaining 5-foot section of the wall seems very structurally unstable, as though a mere push could cause it to topple.

As Dunia approaches the ruined wall, she notices that two of the floor tiles are raised on a fulcrum such that stepping on them would cause the shaky wall to collapse on whomever was unfortunate enough to step there. This was quite obviously deliberately set up in this manner... perhaps by the Kobold in the other room... Wait a second... There's a Kobold in the other room???

The Ganzi rushes in after Dunia to see what's going on, caught off guard by the development.

Thermidor can never act in a surprise round, and is always staggered on the first round of combat, so just a move action. On the bright side, I get uncanny dodge.

As soon as he hears the combat start Ajaline pauses for a second and casts a quick spell on himself. A slight shimmer flashes across his body. Then Ajaline moves towards the room the others entered.

Is that a wall two spaces in front of the red kobold? Since a shot came through there I just want to check what options are.

It is a partially crumbled wall section, only about a foot wide. A small creature can move through it as though it were difficult terrain. A medium creature can spend a move action to attempt an escape artist check to squeeze through it.

Dunia hisses as the bolt carves a bloody furrow across her arm, then ducks behind the wall, trying to get out of the line of fire.

Ain' no need we gwine be killin' an' dyin'! We ain' heah fo' to be hutin' you an' yours!

She repeats this in Polyglot in case that's their common.

Any hints on how tough a check that'll be? The only default I can see under Escape Artist is a DC30 check that takes a minute...

Nothing from Farith, so moving on...

The Kobold behind the portculis reloads and fires a shot at Barl before stepping back, while the one behind the collapsed wall steps forward a bit, reloads, and lines up a shot at Thermidor. You also hear the sound of a door open and shut.

Crossbow at Barl: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
Crossbow at Thermidor: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16

Neither of them are able to land a shot but they both yell at the party in draconic.

From the back, Thermidor catches a glimpse of a third kobold fleeing the battle through a passage at the north and hears the sound of a closing door behind him.

@Farith: The hole is small and jagged enough that a kobold has to play 'human tetris' to get through it. If you shield bash it you can possibly break through it but that would probably end your turn. Your morning-star would likely be more effective.

The fleeing kobold finds itself on its back with Dunia looking down at him.

Barl draws his own crossbow and returns fire, hoping to hit the kobold through the portcullis. Or at least keep him occupied long enough for someone else to reach him. He makes sure to stay protected behind the door as best he can after firing.

When the Kobold spoke a flicker of recognition was seen across the features of the Tiefling before he spoke to the kobold in Draconic "We won't kill you! tell your friends to drop their weapons before any of you get harmed or worse! Turning to the rest of his companions he nodded "Keep an eye on him, he is surrendering but we cannot be to sure about his companions yet!" His morningstar and shield were still out but no hostile actions taken at the kobold as he stood close to him

Barl's shot strikes the metal rods of the portcullis as he exchanges fire with the kobold. While quick and hard to hit, he doesn't seem particularly bright, and seems to think he is in an indestructible position. Maybe if cornered like his teammate he'll surrender but at the moment he appears to be lining up his next shot.

Knowing there would be a chance the kobold might shoot at him he makes his ways past his companions and then stops in front of the kobold and speaks in draconic. "Drop your weapons, we aren't hear to harm you, your friend is still alive..."

Dunia proves the kobold wrong by opening up one of the doors of his impenetrable defense and lashing out with the shaft of her spear to wallop him clear off his scaly legs.
