The Man Behind the Curtain

I'm not sure if anyone has a folio or shirt reroll, but I have one and if anyone wishes to use it...
Sword: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18
Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14
One of the aspis agents manages to land a blow on Dunia, who is barely able to control her collapse such that she remains on the bridge.
The second agent works to keep the ladder down.
CMB: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15
Once again the ladder topples over. Fiveknives hurls another of his knives down at Ajaline.
Dagger: 1d20 + 9 - 2 ⇒ (17) + 9 - 2 = 24
Damage: 1d4 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
Farith Redloss
|
using the Portfolio reroll then
Ranged Attack (Touch): 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 1 = 17
If allowed I can hand out some rerolls to other ppl (I have 3 shirts, 1 Goblin Squad from the Pathfinder Online KS, and 2 of Scotty's pub from GenCon
The Man Behind the Curtain
|
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18
The target of Farith's attack manages to stay on the bridge, but after shoving the ladder over seems to be eyeing an escape route... He appears to have no intention to die here, and is at least looking to find a safer position to fight from.
Round 6:
Kuriq
Dunia
Khair
Barl
Ajaline
Farith
Fiveknives
Red Agent
Green Agent (-9, Retreating)

Seeing the one agent eyeing an escape another Acid Splash is being sent his way to give Dunia the freedom of movement and to have her breath a bit easier...
Ranged Attack(touch): 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 1 = 15
Damage: 1d3 ⇒ 1
The Man Behind the Curtain
|
Dunia is unconcious right now I believe.
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
The acid splash causes the agent to lose his balance and goes careening over the edge of the walkway.
Fall damage: 2d6 ⇒ (6, 6) = 12
As he hits the ground the sickening crunch makes it a pretty good bet that he's not getting back up again... ever.
Round 6:
Kuriq
Dunia
Khair
Barl
Ajaline
Farith
Fiveknives
Red Agent
Khair Bitar
|
Khair will switch focus to the red agent.
Longbow: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13
Damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
I have a shirt re-roll, but reluctant to use it now since I may need it for Fiveknives
Dunia Mbani
|
Stabilize: 1d20 - 3 ⇒ (14) - 3 = 11
Dunias wounds crust over as she weakly groans in pain.
haha definitely should've used my portfolio reroll on my last attack
Kuriq
|
| 1 person marked this as a favorite. |
sense motive: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14
"Seriously! Who has the sleep arrows? They could come in handy!"
Kuriq takes focus on what looks to be the leader since the others seem to have the last agent covered.
longbow,divine favour,judgement: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 4 + 1 = 23
damage: 1d8 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 + 1 = 7
YESSSSSSS. FINALLY.
The Man Behind the Curtain
|
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
Fiveknives lets loose a high pitched (Wilhelm) scream as they arrow strikes him and he falls over the ledge.
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23
Fall Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 6

Finish Him!
Ajaline
|
Ajaline winces in pain. He pulls the agent leader's knife out of his chest. Breathing heavy and barely standing Ajaline hears Kruiq's voice. Sleep arrows... yes, sleep Ajaline drifts for a moment, just on the edge of consciousness but then he comes to. Sleep arrow!. With a burst of energy he takes one of the special arrows from his quiver. The agent leader is only a few feet away. He draws the bow, with the special arrow nocked, and fires.
Please, please please!!!
shortbow, sleep arrow: 1d20 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 2 + 1 = 15
If that's a hit...
damage: 1d6 - 1 ⇒ (2) - 1 = 1
sad
Barl Kestad
|
Barl runs over and attempts to smash the leader to smithereens!
I think I can switch weapons for a move action and then charge. Is Farith threatening melee so I'm flanking? If so please add +2 to hit.
warhammer+charge: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 4 + 2 = 22
damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
The Man Behind the Curtain
|
Barl: You can't draw and charge unless you have a BAB of at least 1, but I'll keep that roll for the AoO he'll provoke when he stands up.
Ajaline's shot is not nearly accurate enough to hit the target, especially as he's presenting a particularly low profile...
Barl pulls his warhammer and moves forward as Fiveknives stands up and is promptly greeted with a bash over the head. Thinking better of attacking just yet, he steps back and casts a spell on himself, mending his wounds sleightly.
CLW: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
The thug above pulls out a short spear and hurls it down at the dwarf assaulting his boss.
Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15
Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
Round 7:
Kuriq
Dunia (KO'd Stable)
Khair
Barl
Ajaline
Farith
Fiveknives (-14)
Red Agent
Kuriq
|
Seeing a clear shot, Kuriq waste no time in identifying his target and attempts another go at Fiveknives! "Beware Sarenrae's fury!"
longbow, divine favour, judgement: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 4 + 1 = 8
dmg: 1d8 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 + 1 = 10
And of course, everyone knows by now, that he is just a simpleton with no skills parading as archer. Lucky shots come only once.
Dunia Mbani
|
Dunia dreams of victory.
Barl Kestad
|
I took that arrow right?
"Oh no you don't! Stay down you snake!" cries Barl.
warhammer: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24
damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
confirm: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
extra crit damage: 2d8 + 8 ⇒ (4, 4) + 8 = 16
Dunia Mbani
|
You got a reroll for that confirmation, Barl?
Ajaline
|
Ajaline is down to 1 hp. I picked up the CMW potion a while back so I could use that but that might be a waste since my max HP is only 8. It would be better to save the potion for Dunia since she is down 14. Is someone with a CLW wand or spell close enough to give me a zap? Unfortunately I don't have a CLW wand myself. Need to get one! If I don't hear from anyone in a few hours (RL) I'll just use the potion.
"Help! I'm seriously wounded over here." Ajaline barely has enough energy left to shout out to his fellow adventurers. He eyes the healing potion hanging at his belt. It would certainly help him but others need it more.
Kuriq
|
Unfortunately I used up my last spell, probably will invest in a CLW wand after this scenario, but at the time being I can't help.
Farith Redloss
|
Farith has a wand of CLW, but he is on the ground as it is
Turning his sight on fiveknives he calles upon abadar in hopes of taking out the one main enemy still standing in hopes that the rest will flee the scene so that his companions can be rescued
Swift action, Judgement of Justice turned on
attack, Morning star, Judgement of Justice: 1d20 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 3 + 1 = 16
Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
The Man Behind the Curtain
|
Assuming Ajaline heals up at this point.
Fiveknives raises his arms against the bludgeons from Farith and Barl but begins coughing up blood. He stares menacingly into Barl's eyes, and lunches forward, juking to the left and making a break for the south!
Withdraw, does not provoke from Farith, but still provokes from Barl.
The agent above, seeing his boss fleeing opts to do likewise...
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13
...and disappears along the narrow bridges.
Round 8:
Kuriq
Dunia (KO'd Stable)
Khair
Barl (Take an AoO on Fiveknives)
Ajaline
Farith
Fiveknives (-24, fleeing, AoO from Barl)
Kuriq
|
Seeing his last chance, Kuriq makes a move to a better position to take fire at the fleeing villain as it is not in his character to let the guilty run free.
longbow,divine favour,judgement: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 4 + 1 = 16
dmg: 1d8 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 + 1 = 9
Dunia Mbani

Ra Ra Ree! Put an arrow in his knee!
Ajaline
|
Fearing for his life, Ajaline takes the potion hanging at his belt and drinks it.
CMW: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
The magical healing flows through his body making him whole again. He watches as the living agents flee while his partners try to finish them off. "Now that they're gone, let's get this ladder back up and see if we can find any clues to the whereabouts of those frog people." He pulls the ladder off of the ground and leans it against the walkway.
Is there any chance at recovering that sleep arrow that didn't hit anything?
The Man Behind the Curtain
|
Ra Ra Rass! Put an arrow in... his other knee!
Khair and Kuriq put a pair of arrows into the back of the fleeing Aspis agent who collapses to the ground unconscious due to severe blood loss.
Destroyed?: 1d100 ⇒ 30
Ajaline finds the sleep arrow but it has been snapped into pieces despite missing it's target. (Which doesn't actually matter at this point, but since you asked)
As the noise from the fight quiets down, several Grippli emerge from their hiding places in their homes. Seeing the area cleared of agents, a few Grippli pull out warhorns and let out a sharp short burst followed by a long blare. Within 10 minutes, several groups of Grippli return to the city.
Mother Bogwynne appears injured due to an... interrogation, but is is reasonable shape is just thankful to be alive. "Is that all of them? Have the aspis agents all been slain?"
Kuriq
|
"I believe they have met their dates with swift justice." Kuriq says as he walks around kicking, and searching bodies of the aspis agents hoping to find something useful. "My only regret is not being here earlier to have ceased this madness before it begun, are you hurt? What were they doing?"
Barl Kestad
|
Unfortunately I don't have any rerolls for anything yet.
Barl whirls his warhammer around, ready to finish off the fleeing Aspis leader but before he can connect, Fiveknives has already fallen from the arrows in his back.
Good job everyone!
He searches Fiveknives' body and the other corpses on the ground for any useful items or information about what their orders or plans might be.
He responds, "One escaped but we have slain their leader and a ferocious dinosaur ate many others and I doubt the other will return alone. They should not bother you again.
We have also brought some eggs for you. Right? Now I believe we had an arrangement for your guardian weapon and an explanation of how to use it."
The Man Behind the Curtain
|
Mother Bogwynne sends a search party out to hunt down the one remaining Aspis agent and graciously accepts the eggs. She seems particularly happy that you've managed to secure as many as you did. She also identifies the fruit that you gathered as bearing the properties of a cure moderate wounds along with some disease removing properties, and promptly feeds it to Dunia.
CMW: 2d8 + 3 ⇒ (6, 6) + 3 = 15
Within a half hour, the Gripplis return, with the last Aspis agent's body in tow.
Mother Bogwynne raises a hand and lifts her head as if performing a blessing, and dozens of gripplis gather to listen. “More than a thousand cycles ago, the dwarven refugees came to us from the distant north, fleeing a home lost ages ago. We aided the dwarves and welcomed them as neighbors in the nearby hills—a land even harsher than our own. When they fled their home for a second time, we offered them aid once more, though they requested only that we honor their memory and accept a gift: this talisman that bears the power to defeat the golden beast that now haunts Ashkurhall.”
She holds up a melon-sized ovoid made of clay. “The descendants of Sigrin spoke of this as their greatest treasure, which they had left behind. It is a legacy that continues to this day, for none have ever braved the Golden Guardian to claim the riches as their own.” A chorus of croaking vocalizations follows the elder’s story, and she adds, “The talisman’s power is hidden within, and it must be unsealed in the beast’s presence. To do so too soon would expend its energy needlessly or even invoke a terrible disaster. We have entrusted you with this relic of our people; use it wisely.”

Upon your return to fort Bandu, you find a message awaiting you...
Pathfinders,
News of your mission in the Bandu Hills has reached me. It is unfortunate that Venture-Captain Sharrowsmith angered the kobolds so much that they attacked the local miners, but I have also heard that thanks to your efforts, the kobolds have ceased their attacks, at least for now. According to the latest report, you learned about an ancient monster watching over the dwarven ruins that Sharrowsmith had been studying, and you decided to visit the Kaava lands to acquire a powerful weapon that could defeat the guardian. I hope that your negotiations with the tribe of gripplis guarding the weapon were successful and you are now ready to continue your mission to find Sharrowsmith.I want to remind you that Nieford Sharrowsmith is our foremost scholar in the region, and thus, your first priority is to bring him back alive, or at least find evidence about what has happened to him. Naturally, also record any information of historical value as you explore the ruins. If you run into kobolds while exploring the dwarven ruins, try not to antagonize them any more than is necessary to find Sharrowsmith. The earlier trouble with the kobolds has already harmed our reputation with the locals. It is vital to the continued success of the Nantambu lodge that we secure allies, not make enemies.
One more thing: we have reason to believe that the Aspis Consortium is planning to intercept your mission and kill or kidnap Sharrowsmith. Make haste and keep an eye out for trouble at all times.
Blessing of the Ten,
Venture-Captain Ambrus Valsin
Dunia Mbani

Dunia stretches her face into a facsimile of a smile at Mother Bogwynne. It looks like she's in at least as much pain as when she was stabbed, but she mutters a thank you, An' if'n y'evah need any help, lea' b'for dem eggs hatch dat is, you ken coun' on me listenin' fo' yo' hollerin'.
Her duty done, Dunia departs with the rest of the group to Fort Bandu.
I haven't played part one, do we as a group know where Sharrowsmith's ruins are?
Kuriq
|
This character hasn't either.
Upon reading the letter, Kuriq considers the situation, "We must make haste, there is not a moment to lose if the Aspis are on this, we've seen the damage they done, the judgment for them should be swift and without hesitation."
Kuriq heads put to buy some supplies before making a move.

Barl's attempt at learning from the locals fails but he shares everything he has already learned. Which is quite a lot and quite valuable.

Have not played 6-09
"Looks like everyone is ready to head out." There's a sense of agitation coming from Kuriq, probably from knowing the Aspis are closer than they first anticipated. He checks his gear, and hurries the rest of the crew.
