Can I use two PP to get a wand of shield? I've never seen a wand of shield but since it is a 1st level spell that I know I would think that it is something I could have.

Yep. All first level wand are 2pp. Although mage armor tends to be a lot more common due to the duration.

Yeah, I see that. So I'd rather have the mage armor wand. It looks like shield also protects against magic missile and incorporeals but I can forego that for the longer AC bonus.

Also, since I don't have Mage Armor learned I would need a UMD roll to use the wand. Right?

Nope. Since it's on you class spell list you can cast it if you meet the minimum level needed which for a level 1 spell is 1.

Anything weird I should know about your character.: Not so much. My archetype trades out my phantom for a ectoplasmic weapon, and magus-style abilities, but my default weapon at this level is a Longspear and the magus stuff doesn't come online til level 3.

Shhh... that's what I get for answering questions while watching Luke Cage. Yes, if a wand's spell is on your class list you can use it. I was thinking of Scrolls which require a caster level check to use.

I've always seen it run as immune to the bludgeoning, takes the 1 point of fire. Lighting a thick patch of brush on fire also works provided you can extinguish it afterwards.

I've got someone who has played in parts 1 and 2 and is missing part 3. They are planning to join in with an oracle.

Ganzi Oracle 1

Hi everyone, I'm the previously mentioned newcomer. I've played and run parts 1 and 2, but part 3 is brand new to me.

I expect I'll play Thermidor, my dual-cursed Ganzi Time oracle (level 2). This character is probably my weirdest mechanically and thematically, so I don't expect to get an up to date sheet posted until tomorrow. A couple caveats:

  • NOT a healer. Thermidor learns Inflict spells, and any wand he uses counts as broken, so it takes two charges per use.
  • His primary shtick at this level is handing out rerolls like candy. While I have a high level Witch who really enjoyed the Misfortune hex, the identically named Oracle revelation works in a very different way. It's an immediate action, and because it's roll twice take the second (rather than take the worst), it can be used to help allies fix bad attack rolls or saves.

    Immediate actions can be a bit clunky in PBP, but I have a few ideas I'll share in a follow up post on how that might work.

    If this sounds like too much of a hassle to deal with in this format, I can hatch one of my credit babies, which might also take a little time to get together.
