Jaysin will use Haste from BoF and move down the stairs to the south so that he can get a clean shot at the enemy! I took the stairs and the squares with the statues as difficult terrain. I'm hoping from my current position I have a shot.

Confirm?: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (6) + 19 = 25 for Adamantine Arrow: 2d8 + 16 ⇒ (3, 3) + 16 = 22

As Jaysin rushes up along the side of the altar, a rune appears on the ground at his feat and a blast of acid covers him.
Acid Damage: 4d8 ⇒ (8, 1, 3, 1) = 13 Reflex DC 20 for half
Jaysin, if you wish to change your mind about your action after getting blasted by the trap you may do so, otherwise I'll resolve the rest of the action in a few hours.

![]() |

No, he'd keep going, just more annoyed than usual.
Reflex: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (6) + 10 = 16

![]() |

Kleetus stands up swiftly and casts a spell upon himself.
Cure Light Wounds: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
His wounds close slightly, as his magic and Abadar's blessings knit his flesh together.
I heal a total of 11.
"Jest you wait there snake lady. Ah'm comin' t'give you Abadar's Holy rek-o-ning as soon as Ah git better" he sing-songs, steppingpast Lore onto the stairs.

Extra Attack from BoF
Seeing that he can't get into melee range again, Takkit draws his bow and fires off three arrows!
Attack: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (4) + 11 = 15
Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 1
Sneak Attack: 4d4 ⇒ (1, 1, 4, 4) = 10

Lore drops a fireball behind the lamia, hoping to catch her offguard and praying she doesn't have evasion.
fireball dmg dc 19 reflex: 10d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 2, 3, 1, 1, 4, 4, 4, 6) = 36

![]() |

Takkit: From your position you can't see the lamia. Also, you're more than 30' away so wouldn't be able to sneak attack. You can move over and take a single shot with a cover penalty, but either way that's not going to hit.
Lore's SR check: 1d20 + 9 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 9 + 4 = 16
The fireball erupts behind the altar, but the Lamia's magical resistances cover her like a shroud, and the flames pass leaving her untouched.
If someone wouldn't mind botting Gromsk's action I'll post her action this evening.
Round 3:
Rakenlattle
Jaysin
Kleetus
Lore
Takkit
Gromsk (-20?, pending will save)
Miakovna (-114, Flat-footed)

Gromsk's Acrobatics: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17
Gromsk's AoO: 1d20 + 14 + 2 - 4 ⇒ (11) + 14 + 2 - 4 = 23 Since she was not yet flat footed at the AoO, that's still a miss
Gromsk furiously slashes at the Lamia as she retreats, then follows her down and cuts again. Unfortunately he is unable to bring her down.
Concentration: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (12) + 15 = 27
She coils her tail into a defensive posture, then spits out a short phrase in Shoanti, causing her to disappear.
If you wish to attempt to locate what square she is currently in, as a move action you may make a perception check, then read the spoiler below (DC in spoiler).
If your perception check beat her stealth check, right click on the map and go to order -> send to back. A red box will show the square she's invisible within.
Otherwise, let me know which square you're attacking (if any) by describing location relative to yourself, eg 1 square up, 1 square left of me.
Round 4:
Rakenlattle
Jaysin
Kleetus
Lore
Takkit
Gromsk
Miakovna (-114, Flat-footed)

![]() |

With her again vanishing Rakenlattle tries to follow the trail she leaves, losing her now could very well lead to the injury of those he has sworn to protect.
Perception: 1d20 + 23 ⇒ (10) + 23 = 33
Perception: 1d20 + 23 ⇒ (9) + 23 = 32
"The magic leaves too little to follow! Be careful!"

![]() |

can I use my folio reroll on that sr check?

![]() |

sr check folio reroll: 1d20 + 9 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 9 + 4 = 23 well that coulda been better, but beats a 16... hope 23 makes it

![]() |

Lore goes to cast invisibility purge then remembers that she already cast it today... cursing softly under her breath in gnomish, she changes her mind... Not sure what to do, she casts protection from evil and hope the snake-lady doesn't come after her. When the spell is done, she slips her hand into her spell component pouch and smiles to herself as her fingers close on a few items that remind her she still has potent spells left, if only she could see the lamia!

![]() |

it wasn't dumped for a heal, but i have it checked off, so I assumed I used it... but it might have been a remnant from her last game too... if you're sure, she'd cast it instead of the protection from evil, which was just a throw-away for the round

![]() |

Well... there is good news and bad news about that... I just did a search of the thread for invisibility purge and she has not cast it... the bad news...
Lore attempts to break the veil of invisibility, but the spell is snatched from her fingertips before it even is complete! It seems as though a ward here has been laid out specifically for such case... It seems as though she was prepared and somehow was able to counterspell without revealing her position.

![]() |

Gromsk tries to sniff out the lamia.
Perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (7) + 10 = 17
Perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (4) + 10 = 14

![]() |

Was the See invisibility spell I attempted to cast from a scroll successfully cast after she AoO'ed me?

![]() |

Lets see, it looks as though she took the AoO for you retrieving the scroll, so you'd still have the scroll handy. Not sure if you would have attempted to cast it anyways after she showed up. I probably should have asked that at the time but since I didn't... hmmm...
Either way, she moved from a position of concealment from you to another position of concealment from you, and deliberately used stealth, so you'll still need to make a perception check to find her. DC will be 20 less than for everyone else. She's a very talented spellcaster so she'd probably have a pretty good idea that you've got your eye out for her so we'll go with this.
If you think that you would have used said scroll, you'll still need to either move around to a position that would expose her or spend a move action to attempt to find her. Use the spoiler above for the perception DC but remove her +20 invisibility bonus. Also once you've done so, since she would have known you can see her, change her box text to indicate that she's only 20 ft up since she would have to climb at half speed to keep hidden.

![]() |

Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12
Damn spellcasters! Jaysin doesn't seem to care if he incorrectly offended any of his team with the comment. Can't any of you do that glitter thing or something?
I'll wait to see the result of some of the inquiries going on, in case a target can be pointed out.

![]() |

Hmmm, now that I think of it, with Rakenlattle taking his action to search for her I should probably mention this.
Rakenlattle looks around for any sign of the Lamia, but is seemingly distracted by a few other interesting features in the room. A few more glyphs are marked on the floor, and probably should not be trodden on...

![]() |

No, Kleetus would not have cast it; however, it would still be in hand. So now he will cast it.
Perception: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (3) + 16 = 19
Do I need to move Kleetus to another position so that he may see her, or is this OK?

![]() |

Assuming you took a move action to search for here, you're good where you are.
Kleetus pulls out a scroll and looks around carefully, but she is nowhere to be seen... or wait... is that the flick of a tail?
There! Up, coiled around the statue in the corner!
Squares she occupies are outlined in red. Kleetus has informed you all what square she's in, so blindly attacking the square is possible, although as you know, her AC is ridiculous.

![]() |

Jaysin looks up at the statue and trusts that his ally knows what he is talking about! Taking Haste from BoF.
Bow: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (11) + 17 = 28 for Adamantine Arrow - Manyshot: 2d8 + 16 ⇒ (3, 7) + 16 = 26 - Miss Chance? High always good: 1d100 ⇒ 17

Did I get the blasted thing? Jaysin quietly seems confident that he landed a couple of shots.

![]() |

One arrow flies straight through the statue's wings and strikes the wall behind, and another is deflected by the statue itself, but 2 arrows thud and vanish.
A much louder thud emanates from the ground below... and the rune glows brightly and another acidic explosion engulfs Jaysin.
Acid Damage: 4d8 ⇒ (1, 3, 6, 5) = 15 Reflex DC 20 for half
Slowly, the body of the Lamia flickers back into its visible state.
~~Combat over~~
Nice shot Jaysin... her AC was 34 at that moment due to cover.

![]() |

Lore channels to aid her injured friends, selectively doing so to exclude the lamia.
channel heal: 7d6 ⇒ (4, 6, 4, 3, 1, 3, 2) = 23

![]() |

Kleetus slowly marches up to the body of the lamia. "And thus did Abadar do onto the undoers the deed t hat was done" he preaches, as he begins to decapitate the matriarch. "Praise be to the Master o' Aktun, Holy Abadar, for his... Woah, she sure squirts a lotta blood still. Anyone have a ker-chief?"
Also, what are we looking at here? Anything of note on her? Anything explaining how the back door into the Tapestry works?

![]() |

Reflex: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (1) + 10 = 11 Nice
Jaysin is sprayed with even more acid as he couldn't tell that the enemy had fallen into another rune. Jaysin curses as the pain heightens and falls away after Lore does her thing, he then finds his wand to finish off the healing. If one of you would be of aid to me.
CLW Wand: 2d8 + 2 ⇒ (2, 1) + 2 = 5 Killer rolls in this post, dicebot thingy.

![]() |

Gromsk looks around for any way to proceed further.
"You think that was all of 'em? Master Zey told us to clear this place out, and I can't see where we're supposed to go next..."

![]() |

Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11
While taking time to collect all of his arrows Jaysin notices nothing else.

![]() |

Perception: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (12) + 16 = 28
"Look over 'dere!" exclaims Kleetus loudly. "That panel in'a all-tur slides!"
He approaches it gingerly. "Ya think it's trapped?"

![]() |

"I wouldn't be surprised if it was. Step back and I'll check it out. You certainly have taken more than your fair share of hits today Kleetus. I would like to make certain I pay my due."
Perception for Traps: 1d20 + 23 ⇒ (1) + 23 = 24
...
Well, if it looks safe then I'll open it when people are a good 30 feet away from potential explosions?

![]() |

Rakenlattle gives the panel a cursory look, waits for his compatriots to back off, and then slides it open.
Within is a stash of valuables and historic treasures, likely given as tribute. Included are a silk altar cloth with runic embroidering in platinum thread, four heavy silver candlesticks, a set of ancient stone tablets chiseled with Thasillonian runes, an ancient abacus with counters made of Thasillonian coins, a golden icon shaped as a foot long peacock feather, a sheaf of sermons and homilies to Lisalla, and a latched gilded coffer.

![]() |

The gunslinger gauges it all a bit before it calls it as clear being wary enough to avoid typical cursed items.
"Seems to be full of treasures and idols. Can't tell if any of it is magical, but I'm sure the society would be interested in the set. I can't check for any magic on them though."

![]() |

Lore casts detect magic on the items... "They are altar items for sure, and yes, I'm sure the society would be interested in them."

![]() |

"Wut about the box-thinger there?"

![]() |

The sheaf of sermons radiate faint transmutation magic, but nothing else appears to be magical. Opening the box reveals a small stack of letters. They appear to be Miakovna's correspondence with other Lissalan cults. A cursory reading reveals that a number of Thassilonian artifacts tithed to the cult by the Aspis Consortium have been sent forth to other shrines throughout Varisia, including undisclosed locations in Kaer Maga, Magnimar, Palin's Cove, and Riddleport.

![]() |

"This doesn't seem to be anything critical to securing the area, but I'm certain the Society would be interested in tracking down ancient artifacts. I'll pass though the area again, I want to be certain we do not have anything threatening left in the area before we given an all clear."
Rakenlattle is going to through the rooms in the temple searching for secret doors and traps. Along the way he will mark any trap locations for those that might come after.

![]() |

It appears as though the whole temple has now been secured. The illusory cave-in trap seems to rapidly reset itself, but as long as the next set of explorers are appropriately notified it should not be an issue. Two glyphs of warding remain in the shrine, but their effect is minimal, and the cleanup crew can probably simply erase them later. Your prisoners from the Kyton room seem to still be under the effects of their mind controlling magic, but aren't particularly violent.
Seems as though you've completed the Explore and Cooperate part... now all that's left is to Report.

![]() |

"The area appears to be as secure as we will be able to made it. Unless any of you wish to take last minute rubbings or samples I think we can take the Aspis prisoners back with us and report to Zey."
Ready to return through the portal.

![]() |

"Too bad these entries don't tell exactly where the relics were sent, but it's still good information we can turn in to the Society... yes, let's take all the prisoners back with us and report in."

![]() |

"Whelp, Ah sure hope we ain't got anythin' else comin' to us cause Ah can't feel my left cheek." comments Kleetus jovially, as he trails blood out of the room.

![]() |

"Oooh, I've gotta fix that!" Lore channels to heal Kleetus (and anyone else who needs it),
channel heal: 7d6 ⇒ (5, 3, 4, 1, 4, 3, 4) = 24

![]() |

In case you missed it Lore did channel after the fight though it looks like you could use both.
Yes, seems our job here is done and not a moment too soon.
