Looking a bit uncomfortable, Kayla replies: "Oh, uhm.....looking for wolfsbane. I don't suppose you've seen any?" I really hope we can find enough for Shinami before the full moon. I really don't want to try removing the curse from him after he changes. I've never attempted such a thing before.

male 1/2 Elf Sage Sor/Wiz 2 Gestalt

"Oh!," Cecil adds "I can create heat without fire if needed. I can do this to food easily enough and if we have some extra metal I can heat that up to use for warmth. Also, the web shelter can be covered with leaves and what not to camouflage it"

Campsight Crunch:

Web shelter (extended to 10 hrs via MM rod) covered in leaves etc
Prestidigitation to heat/flavor food
Prestidigitation to heat pieces of metal for general warmth
Unseen servant with a bell (or other noisemaker) directed to ring bell if anyone other than the party is visible.(Also extended to 10 hrs) It'll be in the shelter so animals or what not won't set it off. I'd still highly recommend watches.

"Owen can probably find some. Let me summon him and I will catch up."

Cecil hangs back for a few mintues to summon owen and give him instructions to search for wolfsbane as we travel. He has a high survival, so he should know what that is. If not I will describe it. He can fly around to search and flying in a straight line as opposed to the slower more obstacle strewn path that is overland travel should allow him to catch up with us fairly easily.
Owen Survival 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (19) + 12 = 31

DM:

Assuming the above plan is viable I will also instruct Owen to look for "body dump sites" as described perviously. If he finds anything he should come back to tell me what it was, but remember where, because if it's a good one I'll be sending him back.

M Human Level 6 Cavalier (Houndmaster)

Looking at the axes, Osslend nods. "I don't have anything like that, so I can use if no one else wants it."

Shadow Lodge

So the plan is to camp 10 miles outside of Faellstaff in the web shelter covered in leaves off the road with an unseen servant standing guard + watches?

Cecil:

Once you start preparing camp, Owen runs off to find wolfsbane. He returns 30 or 40 minutes later with a heap of the stuff. Moreover, he tells you that he found a place to dump the body: a mass open grave in the woods!

** spoiler omitted **

Basically yes.

Owen flies off as we are making camp and returns 35 minutes later with heaping armfulls of wolfsbane. Shortly after Cecil talk to Owen privately and Owen flies off again.

DM:

"Oh really?" Cecil says's with morbid excitement. After discussing how far (for timing reasons) Cecil instructs Owen to fly that area and take a good look around. I will time it so I can look through owen's eyes as he flys around the area. I want to get a better idea of the layout and look for signs of moving bodies. (I'm an adventurer. I assume bodies will try to get me until proven otherwise. ) Let me know what relevant checks to make.

Female (for now) Human 6 Barbarian

At the mentioning of Cecil's shelter, Brynn adds, "That sounds incredibly useful! I'm still your man for watch, though. Though I'll likely lay off the lute for the night."

Yeah, that plan sounds pretty solid for setting up camp. How long would it take to travel 10 miles by horse in the morning?

Edit: Wait, Owen can fly?

Shadow Lodge

Cecil:

I made a perception roll for you. Nat 20...good job.
Once you look through Owen's eyes, you see a large pit dug from the earth in a small clearing. It seems that the hole was created by one or more creatures using claws, not shovels. Moreover, the grave is full of mutilated, half-eaten corpses. There is no sign of movement.

10 miles on a horse would take just under an hour. You could make it in 30 minutes at a flat out run if the road was straight and clear. Might hurt your horses though.

DM:

As owen is out and I'm not looking through his eyes I want to privately study the necromantic dagger again as I think it's been 24 hrs. magic+Spellcraft 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9

Shadow Lodge

Cecil:

I'm going to pretend that you took 10 on that check. It's and Assassin's dagger. It's in the core rulebook.

What, if anything, are you doing with that grave site? When we wrap this up, I'm going to move the story on.

DM:

I forgot I could do that. Assuming there are no identifying marks on the dagger, I will instruct Owen to drop the body in the middle of the pit referably face down. But first Away from the group I want to first remove the man's clothing and bury them and desroy them with fire. Cecil is ready to be done with this whole mess. Once Owen returns Cecil will probably tell the group about the pit. it seems very werewolfy. I'll keep the dagger wrapped and stored in Owen's extra dimensional space for the time being. I assume there is some sort of reward/prestige for turning such items into the Arcanum.

Shadow Lodge

Cecil:

The arcanum certainly has the power to destroy such an item. Just make sure you trust the person you show it to. It would not be hard to frame you at this point. Maedoc was taken down by necromancy, would it be that hard to make the case that Dragoon's are seceptible to its lure?

You have a chance of selling it on the "black market" someone is bound to take the risk for the right price.

Thobir also seems good at getting rid of things.

You can also attempt to destroy it yourself. To do so I would require 3 successful dispel attempts, a succesful sunder against the dagger with a +1 weapon or higher, then a successful spellcraft DC 18 to disperse the negative energy.

Make your choice, then tell the crew about the pit, then I'll move things along.

DM:

So Thobir and just getting rid of it is my only real choice.

forgive me, but I remember the name Thobir, but cant seem to remember why. That's my arcanum sponsor, right? and he is far away. Assuming I remember that correctly I will keep the dagger well wrapped and inside owen's bag of holding. Destroying it will have to wait.

After owen comes back from his errand Cecil communes with him a moment then join the group
"Owen foudn a pit of dead bodies. The hole seems to have been dug with claws, not shovels. They are mangled. Perhaps we could start our investigation tonight."

Shadow Lodge

Thobir is a dwarf in Pollex. He has been assigned to the Dragoon's by the King to act as a sort of Steward. He makes most of your preparations for travel.

Elemenopes is your Arcanum sponsor.

Thank you. This is all very quick for the characters, but real life causes me to forget details sometimes.

Shinami Genbu wrote:

"He did. He's quite good at such things. It's a good thing too, because I am not."

Shadow Lodge

So are y'all checking out the grave pit or calling it a night? It's 10:30 pm and fairly dark (the moon is lighting things). If you sleep, what time to you all get up and do you go to town or to the grave first?

Male Elf Monk 2/Ninja 4

Heck no, Owen came back with Wolfsbane

Right away, Shinami find a sharp stick and begins to dig a little bathhole in the ground and fills it up with water from the spare canteens he took from the tavern as thanks for entering the tournament. Building a little wall, he throws in the Wolfsbane and jumps in to soak in the Wolfsbane.

Shadow Lodge

Funny...I don't remember anything about extra canteens...8) Also, what are you using for walls?

Owen has just over 3 cups of wolfsbane bloom. Make a knowledge nature check to get the proper dose. Or are you just using all of it to be safe?

This is going to end in tragedy.

Female Aasimar Cleric / 1

Kayla suggests that they go ahead and make camp and then check out the gravesite in the morning. After all, it will be hard to search the area thoroughly in the dark. Plus, nighttime may be when the site gets visited by whoever left the bodies.

Kayla will assist Shinami with his wolfsbane bath in the morning as well. I'm assuming a heal check will also be ok to figure out the correct dose?
Heal check 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (5) + 13 = 18

Also, if you are willing to say that tents are waterproof, we can use one to line a hole with so that the bathwater does not seep out.

Male Elf Monk 2/Ninja 4

"Thanks Kayla for helping with this. Let's hope this works."

Heal 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
Knowledge Nature 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15

"If we wait till tomorrow, Cecil, can you store the Wolfsbane somewhere safe? Perhaps in the other dimension so that it doesn't get stolen during the night? I'd hate to have found the cure only to let it slip through our fingers."

male 1/2 Elf Sage Sor/Wiz 2 Gestalt
Shinami Genbu wrote:

Heal 1d20+1
Knowledge Nature 1d20+5

"If we wait till tomorrow, Cecil, can you store the Wolfsbane somewhere safe? Perhaps in the other dimension so that it doesn't get stolen during the night? I'd hate to have found the cure only to let it slip through our fingers."

"Not a problem."

Shadow Lodge

You all go to sleep comfotably snug in Cecil's web shelter. (That sounds dirty...)

The night passes with only the occasional scampering of critters.

In the morning, Shinami raises early and spends an hour digging out a bath. Once done with her prayers, Kayla is kind enough to fill it with water, while Cecil warms it with prestidigitaion.

Kayla and Shinami collaborate about the best dose of wolfsbane to use for a few minutes.

You're both pretty sure that 1 & 2/3 cups should do the trick. Like 60/40% sure because Kayla's not 100% sure about elf immune systems...Also, Shinami's kn: nature reveals, not the exact dose, but that too much will force the transformation, and not enough won't stop one if it's coming. Let me know what amount you go with. Good luck!

Male Elf Monk 2/Ninja 4

"Does anyone have any knowledge of Wolfsbane? Cecil, you seemed to recall a lot after I got bit and the cure for it, could you assist us with figuring out the perfect solution? Bryce and Osslend? Can your survival skills help here? We don't want to force this transformation. If we use too much, it'll just kick me straight into wolf mode, and not enough won't stop it at all."

Thinking back to his time among the library books Cecil ponders;

Knowledge(Arcana) 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20
Knowledge(Dungeoneer)1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17
Knowledge(History)1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24
Knowledge(Nature)1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14
Knowledge (Religion)1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9

Female Aasimar Cleric / 1

"I say we go with the 1 and 2/3 cups." Kayla lines Shinami's hole with her tent and begins conjuring water into it while they vote on the dose.

Shadow Lodge

Cecil:

Your best guess is 1 2/3 cups too, but you're hardly a woodsman...

"Alright Shinami, the water is ready. I'll start adding the wolfsbane, you go and strip. I promise to keep my back turned if you're shy."

Cecil says something under his breath and shortly after the water begins to bubble and steam as Kayla adds the wolfsbane.

"Perhaps we should also add Celery and Carrots." Cecil Jests.

Female Aasimar Cleric / 1

Kayla laughs, "Either that or I could offer to scrub his back for him."

Male Elf Monk 2/Ninja 4

"Should we get a third opinion from the others?" Shinami asks as he starts taking his clothes off and folding them neatly.

Others, please please pitch in. I'm mentally summoning you to your computers to view the page so I don't eat people when I transform

Owen stands at the ready in case Shinami gets out of hand.

Shadow Lodge

So are you getting in with 1 2/3 cups or waiting for another opinion?

Female Aasimar Cleric / 1

The suspense is killing us, get in. :)

Male Elf Monk 2/Ninja 4

Taking a deep breath and throwing up a quick prayer to his God, Shinami steps into the pool and submerges down.

Female Aasimar Cleric / 1

Kayla watches Shinami for any sign of turning into a wolf and readies a Hold Person spell if needed.

Does Hold Person work on a werewolf in wolf form?

Shadow Lodge

Does it? ;)

I think I'll let Shinami stew for a bit before we see any results...I've got to close up the bank anyway.

Female Aasimar Cleric / 1

Stew for a bit? Was that an intentional pun? :)

Male Elf Monk 2/Ninja 4

Hardy har har, brother of mine.

Shadow Lodge

It was intentional 8)

Shadow Lodge

Shinami soaks in his makeshift tub for 33 minutes and feels no different. Hopefully that did the trick, only one way to find out...

Ok gang. Off to the grave or to town? It's about 8:30 am now.

Female Aasimar Cleric / 1

Once Shinami dries off and gets dressed, Kayla suggests they checkout the gravesite first.

Female (for now) Human 6 Barbarian

Recalling what I can on Wolfsbane!
Kn: Nat: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17

"No real reason to check out the grave site other than stir up more trouble, I'd assume. Any reason you all would want to see it otherwise?"

male 1/2 Elf Sage Sor/Wiz 2 Gestalt
Kayla Adrianas wrote:

"Sounds good to me. Well, i suppose good is the wrong word when visiting a mass grave."

Shadow Lodge

Brynn:

You're pretty certain that 1 2/3 cups was spot on.

Male Elf Monk 2/Ninja 4

As Shinami gets out of the tub, he wretches over in pain! His body twists and contorts and there's a look of agony on his face!

"I can feel... THE CHANGE, Oh God!...

No just kidding, let's go visit the grave site."

Shinami throws his clothes on and hops on his horse, ready to go.

I really hope that bath worked. I don't want to live the rest of my life worrying about fleas.

M Human Level 6 Cavalier (Houndmaster)

Relaxing his grip on his weapon once he realizes Shinami isn't a man-wolf, Osslend smiles and pats the man on the back. "I really didn't want to have to kill you. Glad it didn't turn out that way."

Osslend nods at Brynn, "I agree...why are we bothering with this grave site?"
