Xiakai |
If I may, I'd like to amend my post above having not realized that the Ifrit Xiakai was next to was down. Also, I used the wrong modifier for the CMW roll that I'll correct. Bummer dice rolls this turn...
Kofusachi!
Xiakai stands, moving back from the group. Honing in on her patron's grace, she casts cure moderate wounds in place of her prepared Hold Person spell.
CMW: 2d8 + 6 ⇒ (2, 2) + 6 = 10
Again attempting to understand the surrounding combat, she looks around - puzzled at what she sees.
Sense Motive, untrained: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
GM Cody |
Where you're currently standing, she'd have to cast defensively or suffer an attack of opportunity from Blue Ifrit
Bold is up
Xiakai- 30 damage
Red Ifrit Enforcers - 63 damage/20 Non-lethal damage(unconscious)
Cosmo(Has Divine Favor) 25 damage
Tika
Manuk 18 damage
Blue Ifrit 32 damage
Black Ifrit's 57 damage
Ranar 9 damage
Hlifkom 18 damage
Anastasia 50 damage (Has Guidance from Cosmo)
Professor Cosmo Berrythwaite |
She stood up, cast CMW, then took a 5-ft. step to where she's at right now. :)
Ranar "The Risen" |
Hoping to end combat Ranar quickly draws and throws another force bomb at the Black Ifrit.
Sure wish these didn't have to do lethal damage. I will exclude my party.
Attack: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (3) + 13 = 164d4 + 8 ⇒ (4, 1, 4, 1) + 8 = 18
Ranar will hastely apologize if his bomb goes awry.
Miss if applicable: 1d8 ⇒ 8
If that is a miss, it will hit one square East of Cosmo, just off of the map. I will use Splash Weapon Mastery to nudge the die from 8 to 7 placing it just east of the Ifrit instead. The damage for Cosmo and the Ifrit on a miss is 11 Force with a DC 21 Reflex save.
Anastasia Pasara |
Anastaia moves over to attack the Black Ifrit during the confusion of the blast from Ranar's Bomb.
Hopefully I can get a good attack in all this smoke but its worth a shot while he is distracted.
Attack + Rage: 1d20 + 9 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 9 + 2 + 1 = 26
Hlifkom Ingfrothi |
Hlifkom, emboldened by her failures, will swing out at the the Ifrit in front of her with her sword.
Gamin, sensing her displeasure, will cast Guidance on her, providing her focus.
Attack - Non-Lethal + Guidance+ Bane: 1d20 + 5 - 4 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 5 - 4 + 1 + 2 = 15
Damage + Bane: 1d8 + 1 + 2d6 ⇒ (2) + 1 + (2, 5) = 10
Professor Cosmo Berrythwaite |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
@ Anastasia: you should be rolling damage at the same time. That way if your attack hits, Cody already has the damage. Like Hlifkom has done above me.
GM Cody |
It just helps, I'll roll your damage for you, but in the future, please roll attack and damage roll :), I'll also redirect your attack to the Blue Ifrit!
Anastasia's Damage: 1d8 + 4 + 2 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 + 2 + 4 = 16
Anastasia deals a grievous blow to the Blue Ifrit, slicing him open.

Ranar bombs the black Ifrit, knocking him unconscious.

Professor Cosmo Berrythwaite |
I'll post my turn later tonight, after Iron Gods.
Professor Cosmo Berrythwaite |
Cosmo passes Gamin's +1 bonus off to Tika's lance.
Gamin casts guidance on Ranar.
Cosmo casts stabilize on the dying ifrit (black).
With his pipe clenched in his teeth, the professor calls out to his friends, "The tides of the fight have turned."
He then speaks to the last ifrit still standing while stepping over the unconscious one at his feet, "We will accept terms for your surrender. We have no desire to continue this fight. Your brethren are down, and you are outmatched. I suggest you stand down, my good sir."
Tikaketsu "Tika" |
Tika will sift in her saddle and point her lance towards the last standing Ifrit.
Tika will full attack the blue Ifrit
Attack - Power Attack + 1 Gamin: 1d20 + 14 - 2 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 14 - 2 + 1 = 22
Damage + Power Attack: 1d6 + 7 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 7 + 6 = 14
Second Attack - Power Attack + 1 Gamin: 1d20 + 9 - 2 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 9 - 2 + 1 = 24
Damage + Power Attack: 1d6 + 7 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 7 + 6 = 16
"Manuk! dont attack he looks pretty bad!"
GM Cody |
And with a double blow from Tika, the last Ifrit falls to the ground, clutching the gape hole in his stomach as blood begins to pour from his wound.
I imagine you guys will stabilize him? He is at -7 hp
Morak limps forward, "Thank you for not killin' them, my son Vukun here, he and the other Ifrits are under Tygora's control, how could he not be, it's her influence here that has caused so many Ifrits to be born." turning to his building, only slightly damaged thanks to Cosmo's quick efforts to put out the fire, "They would have destroyed my building and all my work, I'm glad you stopped them. I imagine you're here to save your friends and end Tygora's reign? I have something that may aid you." He runs inside grabbing a couple of potions of his shelves, stopping he'll run into a backroom and grab a small chest as well, "Here are some healing potions and potion of resist fire, also, this is my masterpiece. My greatest alchemical creation, they said it couldn't be created but I was able to create just this one, a potion of Fire Shield(Chilled). Use these and hopefully they help you stop Tygora and save our children."
The crowd gathers, "Leave these Ifrits to us, we'll make sure they don't go anywhere"
All told, you got a potion of Resist Energy(Fire), 4 potions of Cure Moderate Wounds and a rare Potion of Fire Shield(Chilled) CL 7. A potion that otherwise breaks the regular rules for potions by being a 4th level spell. I imagine you guys need to heal up, I'll give ya some time to do so. Unfortunately you don't get time to rest overnight, its advised you begin your assault on the Palace after completing the last task
Xiakai |
"Kaw! Kaw! Kofusachi has answered our prayers! As have you my new good friend! I offer you libations in trade for these wondrous gifts! A drink to our good health!"
Xiakai steps across to stabilize the blue ifrit. She then pours a drink from her tengu jug for Morak. Upon handing him the drink, she then grabs a CMW potion and swallows it down.
CMW: 2d8 + 3 ⇒ (7, 3) + 3 = 13
"Alas that it doesn't taste more like good ale..."
Pulling out her wand of CLW, she casts it on herself until healed up.
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
"Pkaa! That'll do'er! Anybody else I need of a bit 'o mending before we have a drink and get going?"
Professor Cosmo Berrythwaite |
Anyone who wants a hit from my wand of infernal healing let me know. I will use 2 charges for myself, bringing me up to 49 hp.
@ Cody: Was this the last task before the assault? I don't remember. If so, I have a wand of resist energy and I'm happy to use some charges on people.
Xiakai |

seeing Cosmo not yet at full health, Xiakai will use a single charge of her CLW wand on him
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
Hlifkom Ingfrothi |
I wouldn't mind a couple of CLWs, if anyone has them on a wand. If not, I've got spells.
Hlifkom moves over to the downed Ifrits, casting Stabilize on each one.
"Well, it's likely that Tygora knows we're coming. We should probably get going, take the fight to her."
Professor Cosmo Berrythwaite |
I have infernal healing, but Hlifkom probably doesn't want that.
Hlifkom Ingfrothi |
Yeah, I almost asked, then remembered Lawful Good, and divine caster, and figured that would probably cause atonement or some such.
Manuk "Doomchicken" |
Manuk could use an infernal healing :)
Tikaketsu "Tika" |
"I have a wand of CLW but I can't cast it so if some one wants to help me help My Manuk that would be great!" Tika holds out her wand of CLW with 9 charges.
GM Cody |
Looks like Anastasia will need a fair amount of healing, she took a beating as well.
Professor Cosmo Berrythwaite |
Ok. 5 charges of infernal healing for Anastasia. 2 charges for the Doomchicken.
Also, there are 7 of us (including Manuk, but not Sticky). I think Anastasia should use the potion of fire shield, but it is one that only lasts 1 round/level—so 7 rounds. She would need to drink it at the start of a combat. One of us can use the potion of resist energy and the rest can use my wand of resist energy. So that will be 5 charges from my wand to give everyone resist fire 10. If anyone has another way to accomplish the same thing to save me a charge or two, let me know.

Thank you Cosmo I am feeling a bit better now. That was a tough fight. The potion sounds like a good idea.
Hopefully I can fight a bit better in my next battle those Ifrits are one tough bunch of dudes.
Xiakai |
@Hlifkom, wand, CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5, CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5, CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
"That should help!", Xiakai exclaims, slapping Hlifkom on the shoulder. "Thanks Cosmo! Burnt feathers dont just smell bad."
"Shall we get going to the castle? Might be better to get there before they have a proper reception for us."
GM Cody |
Looks like you guys are ready to go, I'll go ahead and move us along the last part, definitely been a fun game so far, thanks guys!
You've rested up, healed and planned out your buffs, you begin your way to the palace where you're met up with 30 or 40 armed Oreads as well as Valsog, the Slag Giant from early, he is carrying one of his massive anvils, it must weigh at least 2000 pounds, his muscles are rippling, looking like they are on the verge of ripping out of his skin.
Grunting as he looks down at your group and nods, the rest of the Oreads are now walking along aside you toward the palace. Raising their swords and shields in the air, "For Crystalcrag!"
As you guys approach the run up to the palace, it looks like they are expecting your arrival. There are two huge Fire Elemental's and an even larger fire elemental, however it seems to drip with magma and lava, somehow making even the two Huge fire elemental's seem small.
The Oread's and Valsog charge forward clashing with the Greater Magma Elemental, "Ya guys take tha two door guards, we gat this guy!"
They lead the Magma Elemental off to the side, leaving you guys to fight the two massive door guards.

Xiakai raised a valid point and I'm a benevolent GM that doesn't want you guys to die, so during the walk up feel free to cast a spell or two that you think you'd need for the upcoming fight. As such Xiakai was not hit by the Elemental, however he still walked upt o her and swung at her. However we don't get cooked chicken this round.
Professor Cosmo Berrythwaite |
I would have cast tongues (50 min).
Also, here is my Knowledge check to identify them:
Knowledge (planes): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26
Ranar "The Risen" |
Sorry my posts have been infrequent. I've been struggling with our PC being the best way to post, but lately it is so slow I usually get frustrated and walkaway before I can finish my post. Depending on some unknown factors it becomes completely unusable. We have money saved to replace it, I'm just uncertain what to get, but will soon fix it. I appreciate your patience.
@Cosmo I will have declined the resist as I cast it at 20 resist. I will use my resist extract and consume my cognatogen as we approach.
Ranar "The Risen" |
Also if we can avoid using the Chill shield potion, I'd like to use it to create a tattoo potion. But can't if it get consumed, that being said, if we need it to its totally cool.

remember that you all (except Manuk - sorry) have Good Hope (morale bonus) - +2 to all d20 and damage rolls
Professor Cosmo Berrythwaite |
Ok. I will use that other charge on Anastasia instead, and Ranar can keep the potion. Anastasia has resist fire 10.
GM Cody |
No worries Jeremy, I understand how that could be frustrating. Thank you Cosmo, I forgot to include the info write up.
Cosmo knows that these are Huge Fire Elemental's, their flaming fists can catch their targets on fire so be ware getting hit by them. They are vulnerable to cold damage, have DR bypassed by nothing and are obviously immune to fire.
Xiakai steps forward and begins furiously clawing and beaking the elemental, two of her claw's are able to rake it's firey hide however they don't break through. (They do hit thought still which I think means he is chaos'd, right?)
With that the Red Elemental begins lumbering forward as he surveys the battlefield picking a target.
1-2Manuk, 3-4Tika, 5-6Hlifkom: 1d6 ⇒ 2
Before setting his eyes on that tasty tasty bird in front of him. He surges forward, winding up a punch for Manuk.
Charging Attack: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (6) + 15 = 21
Damage: 2d6 + 4 ⇒ (6, 4) + 4 = 14
However the wily bird isn't getting cooked today and dodge's his long neck right under the flaming fist. Sqwauking loudly in protest. Manuk turns out to still be flat-footed and just barely takes a flaming fist to the bird neck.
Reflex Save to not catch fire DC 18: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10

Hlifkom lays her hand on Ranar, granting him her Touch of Law.
Gamin echos her last words, "... your bombs fly true." As he casts Guidance on Ranar.
GM Cody |
I made a mistake earlier, the fire elemental's damage is bludgeoning, not fire. So Manuk would have taken 14 bludgeoning damage, not 4. Additionally, I thought I was reading the Burn rules correctly but I was not. The Elemental's damage is 2d6+4 + 2d6 fire on a hit, then their is a chance for catching on fire too. so Manuk takes.
burn: 2d6 ⇒ (1, 5) = 6 on top of the 14 bludgeoning. However the Resist Energy 10 Fire, covers the 6 burn, so Manuk is just 14 bludgeoning. Barring a successful ride check from Tika to negate the hit, if she so chooses.
Rounds Manuk is on fire: 1d4 ⇒ 2
Unfortunately for Xiakai, punching a burning creature causes chance to catch on fire , she also takes 2d6 fire damage each time she hit which is twice.
Reflex Save to not Catch on fire: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25

Cosmo begins by giving Gamin's +1 bonus to Tika's lance. He takes a step back then gets out a small cylindrical device. He turns a dial and presses a button before throwing the cylinder over by the doors. (Marked on map with cylinder.)
Attack, AC 5, Good Hope, 4 range increments: 1d20 + 8 + 2 - 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 + 2 - 8 = 4
I will use an Adaptable Luck to add +2 luck bonus to that roll.
"Remember last time, everyone!" Cosmo reminds his friends what happened at the alchemy shop.
Here's hoping that these fire elementals have never seen a zero grenade before!
Anastasia Pasara |
Ok I am ready...
Anastasia drinks the potion that Cosmo hands her as she walks up to the palace. Seeing the large fire elementals she is greatful to have some fire resistance. Looks like we will all need it this combat.
Not sure what I should be rolling at this point. There is lots of bonuses and potions being bounced around so I might need some help figuring out just what bonuses and stuff I have to my attack. I didn't see any added up above by Cody but I know I have the potion of fire resistance which is a plus 10 just not sure how to reflect that in my roll. Should I be doing a reflexs save to not catch on fire?
GM Cody |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
The Fire Resistance will only come into play this fight if you get hit by Elemental or catch on fire. The reflex saves for Xiakai were because she used unarmed attacks/natural attacks on the elemental, you are safe to attack it without worry of catching on fire with your longsword. Good Hope is a buff spell that Xiakai cast, it adds a +2 morale bonus to Attack and Damage rolls. If you are raging your roll would like this: 1d20 + 9 + 2 + 2 and damage would be 1d8 + 4 + 4 + 2 + 2.
[.dice=Attack + Rage + Good Hope] 1d20 + 9 + 2 + 2 [/dice]
[.dice=Damage + Rage + Good Hope + Power Attack] 1d8 + 4 + 4 + 2 + 2 [/dice]
This would be the code for it, just take out the periods and then it'll work for ya!
Ranar "The Risen" |
In spite of the granted resistance Ranar still feels an uncomfortable heat radiating from his foe. He draws back five feet and prepares to Force Bomb the blue elemental excluding allies.
Fire creatures...Why did it have to be fire creatures.
Attack = 10 + 1 + 13 - 4 + 20 4d4 + 8 ⇒ (2, 4, 3, 1) + 8 = 18
Tikaketsu "Tika" |

Ride check to negate hit vs Manuk + Good Hope: 1d20 + 17 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 17 + 2 = 35
That was an immediate action.

she will full attack the red huge fire elemental

Luckily you guys were prepared, right now you can take max of 2 fire damage from being on fire. gotta love magic!
The blue elemental doesn't even feel Xiakai's raking claw, however the magics infused with that claw continue to instill chaos in his life.
The Red Fire Elemental has a number of targets at this point, Tika nimbly was able to dodge Manuk out of the of his fist, so he won't try that again!
Stepping forward to get the most number of potential targets,
First Attack, Tika12, Hlifkom34, Cosmo56: 1d6 ⇒ 1
Second Attack, Hlifkom12,Cosmo34: 1d4 ⇒ 2
As he swings mightily at Hlifkom and Tika, the two front liners!
Attack + Burn: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (15) + 15 = 30

Damage + Burn: 2d6 + 4 + 2d6 ⇒ (3, 4) + 4 + (2, 5) = 18
With that, the small strange item that Cosmo threw earlier, begins beeping faster and louder until it explodes in a spray of freezing foam and smoke.
I'll let him roll damage since it is his grenade
But I'll preroll their saving throws,
Chaotic Blue Save's + 14: 2d20 ⇒ (17, 13) = 30 24
Red's save: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (7) + 14 = 21
